I know the visible Muslim girl on the cover is "tokenism," the very point of the book is to show we learn differently and how that might look to normalize and foster acceptance through a diverse cast of children. But honestly I love, like smile from ear-to-ear, joy in my heart to see the little hijabi girl in the classroom having her own way of connecting with books, audio, alongside kids that tangibly need to touch a bead on an abacus to do math, need to look around to listen, need to have someplace quiet or need to tap and wiggle to learn. The joy and manageable accommodations make this book delightful and important. The #muslimintheillustrations make me appreciative to see the representation included.
