The real competition is just getting started, both inside and out. . . . Lee Yeon’s beloved webcomic is now available in English print for the first time.
After successfully passing the preliminary round of Face-Off Cinderella, wallflower Kim Yeseul feels a bit more confident in herself, thanks to makeup artist Cheon Yuseong’s ability to transform her looks. Now, in addition to the show’s cosmetic challenges, the duo must face a new keeping Yeseul’s identity a secret on live TV.
To hide her face during broadcasts, Yeseul dons a costume of her favorite bunny character, Toseul. But the other contestants won’t let her fly under the radar so easily—especially not Ju Heewon, who’s still seething after being rejected by Yuseong. Can Yeseul make it through the next round without being discovered—or worse, sabotaged by another contestant?
Volume 2 collects episodes 15–29 of the webcomic The Makeup Remover.
I am so absolutely TAKEN with the characters in this and the storyline and I just want ALL of them to have the BEST HEAs EVAR!
Not a fan of the meanness and cheating and I REALLY hope that certain people get their comeuppance so they can get over being mean and be happy too. Not everyone gets a redemption arc though and I am ok with that as long as they get what is coming to them. Don't hurt Mai Babies! GRRRR!!!!
4, I am SO here for the next volume, stars!

i liked this one way more than the first one. seeing the first challenge they have to face for the show and how yeseul is dealing with being anonymous on it and her irl life is really interesting. i love her character development so much and honestly i am getting attached to her and yuseong cheon. I can't wait to read the third installment!
One of the best stories concerning women and make up. I adored the character development in this one. I believe this story and its amazing characters will live in a luxurious suite in my heart forever.
For someone who isn’t really into makeup, I sure do enjoy books revolving around the industry. The Makeup Remover is an interesting story about an artist looking for a plain girl to use as his canvas for a televised competition. Transforming someone who isn’t inherently beautiful to societal standards is much more impressive than taking someone who is already seen as gorgeous and just slopping some paint on them. I understand the idea and at first it may seem cruel. You’re calling this girl, basically, ugly. But when you read it, it’s not that at all. You’re actually saying that everyone is beautiful. Sometimes, it takes a little more work to achieve the look you want.
Volume 2 takes us into the second photo shoot for the show, Face-Off Cinderella. They are all given the same challenge, which is only titled “Red.” They have to interpret that how they want. And while Yeseul and Cheon come up with an idea, another team is looking to steal it. SABOTAGE!!!! Not only is their idea completely copied by two characters I already don’t like, but the one person also destroys ALL of the makeup provided for the challenge. Sadly, to keep Yeseul’s identity a secret, they asked for the cameras to be shut off in their dressing room and can’t prove it was done or by the person they all know did it.
This was definitely a very quickly paced volume that, OF COURSE, ended on a cliffhanger. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!!😭 I can’t wait until February 2027. This is gonna be torture.
Thank you to Inklore for my gifted copy of the book!!
As the first book of 2022 that I finished, I wanted it to be amazing and everything a reader could want, and wow, did I get that with this webtoon! The overall messages about makeup and social standards and day to day life is really meaningful and realistic! I love the art and every challenge comes with such a great surprise and a wholesome feeling in my heart! Everything about the webtoon, the art, plot, characters, messages, and cliffhangers are literally so amazing and perfect. I love it so much!
Can we take a moment to appreciate how sweet Yuseong Cheon is?? He literally has zero toxic masculinity and I'm here for it ♡ Also I love how yeseul (the main character) is so courageous and knows how to stand up for herself. Not to mention how relatable and adorable she is. And the character development?? So good that it's heartwarming! Bottom line is I loved this volume and can't wait to read the rest ^^
Still loved it, but the ending felt really rushed, which was disappointing after investing so much time.into it. Felt like some storyline’s were not properly concluded… and kinda sad about having no resolution with the main relationship. Which is fine, but not when something is classified as being a romance…
This series is absolutely amazing. It isn't focused on romance, but it does talk a lot about the beauty industry. The characters are great and develop over the series. The ending is a little rushed, but not distractingly so. I highly recommend.
This was cute! It was a good read and i can’t wait for the third volume to come out in print! Once again my favourite part was the manga art print at the back by lee yeon. Her honesty is so funny and refreshing! And im curious to take a look at her previous work!
rtc (review-to-come) 3.75 Stars wow loved the exploration of beauty standards, and the relationship between a person's body and their expectations of beauty.
I like the different makeup info I get from this but it also has nice messages when it comes to the perception of makeup and its importance in our society. I love it so far, so easy to read !
Really enjoy the take this has on beauty and makeup! Not loving some side plots, but it’s still the beginning.
Recap: interview, mascot outfit, Ju H copycat, blackmail to get him to do makeup, makeup revelation of not fixing your confidence, photog and makeup sabotage, monologue about red, becoming friends with Ju H
Thank you Inklore for sending this over for me to check out.
I am really enjoying this series. Volume 2 was just as fast paced and even more entertaining than vol 1. Such a fun and funny read with a nice dash of drama. Between the jokes this volume continued to serve up more meaningful commentary on beauty standards and self esteem.
Very much a social commentary/comedy story, and i have no expectations of any of them ending up together, so tell me why i am shipping Kim Yeseul with 3 different characters? Primarily Ju Heewon 🙂↕️
