When the dead won’t stay buried, the living aren’t safe either.
After losing her job as a morgue technician, Raven thinks working at a Halloween fall camp will be a harmless way to pass the season. But the camp is far from ordinary—campers have a tendency to vanish, and whispers of missing teens haunt the cabins at night.
Enter Damien, a mysterious camp counselor with a shadowy charm and secrets that make Raven’s dark humor seem almost normal. As the disappearances escalate, Raven realizes the camp is hiding more than tricks and treats—and she might be in danger of becoming part of its terrifying game.
Between the chilling mysteries, stolen moments of passion, and a growing attraction she can’t ignore, Raven must survive the season… or fall for the darkness.
It’s a good read for Halloween night 🎃 I gave it 3 stars cause I liked it a little less than Persis’s other books but still a good read for this time of year
Campfires. Kisses. Corpses. Just another night at Dark Harvest. 🎃

Welcome to Camp Hollow…where the bodies don’t stay buried.
Raven, after losing her Morgue Technician job, decides to return to her hometown of Hollow Pines, and takes a Activities Counselor position at Camp Hollow with the hope that it’ll be an easy way to pass the Halloween Season.
But what she didn’t expect was missing campers, whispers coming from the dead of night, a terrifying evil deemed The Widow, or the mysterious, brooding camp counselor, Damien.
As the mysterious vanishings begin to amp up, and the mystery and wanting surrounding Damien begins to grow, Raven is forced to find a way to survive the season and escape the darkness.
This is the perfect spooky season read for fans of R.L Stine and Christopher Pike. Think Goosebumps meets Fear Street, meets Friday the 13th.

Thank you again to the Author for allowing me to ARC read this spooky novella for you! 🖤
*Thank you to the author, Persis Lassister for providing with E ARC in exchange for an honest review*
Haunting.
Be ready to read this until you reach the end. From the moment I read the first few sentences of Dark Harvest, I knew that I would have a hard time putting this book down. I shouldn’t be surprised, since I’m already one of the biggest Persis Lassister fans. It’s the way that she describes everything that is going on that pulls you into the story instantly. I tend to be picky when it comes to horror/spooky books, but I loved the way that Persis set up the scene, and the way she described everything; I imagined as if I were there, as if I were Raven.
I loved Raven and Damien, although sometimes I had mixed opinions about him. There was a part of me that knew there was a reason I was wary of him, but I couldn’t help but love him at the same time. I loved the setting; it gave such a creepy vibe, and this novella will give you the Halloween vibes. I loved this story so much, including the setting and the characters, but I don’t want to give too much away. You will have to read to find out. It is one of the best horrors/spooky stories I have read. Highly recommended!
This was such a great spooky quick novella. Perfect for the season. Very easy to read, fast paced. I loved the vibes. The disappearance of children was crazy 😱. Talking about yea they disappeared, most done come back. Like whaaattt. Yea you won’t catch me camping 😂 no thank you. Damien is so mysterious and hot. Didn’t know whether to trust him or not but why not at this point we all the way in. Raven is brave with some hints of fear. I mean I wouldn’t be doing the stuff she did I’m too scared for that. I loved the spooky, ghost type of rumors in the book. I can definitely see how R.L. Stein impacted you and this book. On another note there was some spice 😏. I liked how it wasn’t the main factor and didn’t take away from the spooky vibes. I do love spice but it was the perfect balance in this novella.
Who should read this? Anyone that loves spooky season and has loved reading R.L. Steins as a kid. It’s a fun supernatural short story. That will have you breeze through it. And if you’ve read Persis other two books you should definitely read this one.
Let me first thank the author, Persis for this advanced copy. Much appreciated!
This novella with its spooky camp vibes, missing teens and cute mysterious camp counselor had me hooked from the first chapter.
Raven is the kind of sarcastic, no nonsense FMC I love, and the whole Halloween camp setting was chef’s kiss creepy. Think foggy woods, eerie whispers, and secrets that definitely don’t want to stay buried.
Then there’s Damien, the broody, secretive camp counselor who’s clearly hiding something, but of course Raven is drawn to him anyway (and honestly, same). Their chemistry is fun to watch unfold, especially against the backdrop of rising danger.
You’ll find a little horror, a little romance, a lot of suspense. Perfect for fall vibes and late night reading. Especially how close we are to Halloween.
If you’re into haunted woods, slow-burn tension, and smart girls who don’t play around then grab this book.
I had the pleasure of receiving this as an e-ARC and voluntarily will be giving my honest review. This is a fast pace spooky novella! Great for the Halloween season where Raven has returned to her small hometown to become an activity counselor at Halloween fall camp and campers disappear to never come back it gives you that eerie feeling. This book had drawn in right from the beginning just love it!! Another great book by Persis Lassiter!!
“Between the chilling mysteries, stolen moments of passion, and a growing attraction she can’t ignore, Raven must decide: survive the season… or fall for the darkness.”
The perfect quick read to kick off spooky season! Raven, a former morgue technician, takes a job at a Halloween camp hoping for a fresh start—but the camp has other plans. Between missing campers, eerie whispers, and a mysterious counselor named Damien, this story delivers the perfect mix of chills and intrigue.
I loved the creepy fall atmosphere and how the tension built with every page. Raven’s dark humor and chemistry with Damien added a fun edge to the eerie setting. It’s fast-paced, atmospheric, and has just enough romance to balance out the horror.
If you love haunted-camp stories, autumn vibes, and a dash of danger, this novella is definitely worth picking up.
What To Expect: - a halloween novella - paranormal elements - camp counselors - missing kids - he's been watching her - spooky horror vibes - a bit of spice

Thank you Persis Lassiter for this ARC of Dark Harvest!
Before starting, read the “a note for my readers” so that you know what to expect! The formatting and story telling follows the same pattern/vibe as the classic R.L. Stine books, but with a hint of spice!
This is a novella, no crazy details but some repetition, but like I said above when reading think of the R.L. Stine books you grew up reading!
Fun scary story/haunting vibes, and such a quick read! Tropes: 🖤He’s been watching her 🩶there is a pull between MCs 🖤Haunting 🩶missing kids 🖤camp counselors
When the dead won’t stay buried, you know it’s going to be a good time.
This one gave me all the R.L. Stine nostalgia as promised with a darker, more grown-up twist. A creepy camp, missing teens, a mysterious counselor (Damien, I’m still not sure if I love you or fear you 😳), and a heroine with just the right amount of sass and survival instincts.
Fast-paced, eerie, and addictive—this book blends horror, mystery, and dark romance in the best way. Perfect for spooky season 🌒
I was looking on Kindle Unlimited for a short Halloween story and came across this one. A Halloween camp, campers disappeared... Sounds good for spooky season. And it was a nice story, at times a bit repetitive, but good. Just the end felt.... Underwhelming. The main scene was short and I was wondering, if it was just the overture... I wish there would have been a real climax to the story. It didn't even feel like the beginning of a series. Well, I shouldn't complain as it was included in my KU and it was a bit spooky. And short. 3,25/5
This book is not the typical book I would read. I am glad I have it a chance though! I read this book in under 2 hours. It was that good!
Persis Lassiter will have you on your toes trying to figure out what is going on! You think you have it figured out and then there is a twist. The dynamic between Damien and Raven is great! Damien gives off a mix of Edward Cullen and Damen Salvatore vibes, and who doesn't love a man like Damen Salvatore!
Looking for a novella ghost story? Here's a perfect read for you. The camp ghost story features all the elements-foggy nights, dark lake, dark forest, eerie evenings, and plenty of screams. Raven, a former mortician, lands a new job at a lake camp. She meets Damien, a counselor at the camp who shares her darkness, but he holds many secrets that Raven's curiosity can't seem to escape. What dark mysteries lie at this camp? Disappearances? Whispers in the dark? Check out this Halloween novella..
I loved this short thriller! It’s definitely a page turner and I was hooked from the first chapter! It’s got all the perfect elements for Halloween! It’s got mystery and all the spooky elements! It definitely got my heart pumping. I loved Raven and Damien! The characters are well written! There is minor spice.
Dark Harvest by Persis Lassiter ARC review (Available on Kindle Unlimited October 14th) A great fast read to get you in a spooky mood. Set in a forest with strange happenings and a paranormal romance. Dark Harvest is a perfect halloween novella. I would honestly recommend this to anyone who wants a quick read, theres some good chilling spooky moments and even a hint of spice.
Truly, this is not my typical read, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I will read literally anything Persis writes. This is no exception. She is able to suck you into the worlds she creates. She makes me witch cackle laugh when she’s funny and audibly gasp when the story takes a turn. Go read this!
short and spooky mystery! I recieved an ARC copy and this is my honest review Raven returns to her small town as a camp councilor where mystery disappearances happen every October you can feel the chil of the fog and smell the campfire loved this authors debut mystery!
Dark Harvest is a fast, eerie Halloween read with creepy campfire vibes, mysterious disappearances, and a touch of slow-burn romance, very fitting for an October night. The story is brisk and unsettling, a ghost story with real consequences.
Holy Crap! This book was so good! I was hooked from the first chapter, it had all the spooky horror vibes and a hint of spice 🤌🏻 Definitely recommend! 💯
I love the setting of this book. It gives such creepy and eerie vibes. This novella is perfect for October to get you into the spooky mood. The setting and characters are very enjoyable.
I loved that I was kept on edge the whole book. I was not sure what was happening, and then when I thought I knew, it turned out to be something else—I loved it. Great characters, great descriptions of not only the camp but all the surroundings, like in a scary or thriller movie.
There weren't many romance scenes, but there was a lot of descriptive dialogue, which I loved...it kept the story moving at a good pace for a novella.
Damon and Raven were fantastic...I would have loved to have a little of Damon's POV, but it was still a great read under Raven's POV.
If your looking for a spooky Halloween Novella look no further. Persis Lassiter did a very good job with this one. I am not one for a spooky read but this one has so much detail, you feel as if you are in the story. I was always wanting more and did not want to put it down. This book was a quick read and worth the haunted thrill.
The FMC, Raven, and MMC, Damien, worked good together. Damien always had Ravens back from the start and looked after her. I was not sure what to think of them when I found out he was older than her, but her gravitational pull towards him was not letting up. She seemed to always find him and trusted him toward the end of the novella.
With this book being only 132 pages, it will be an easy one to snuggle up with hot coca and a fire place to enjoy. I hope that no scary witch wakes me up in my dreams tonight. For your first spooky novella you did amazing my dear. What is in store next?
