Pure Mage Build: Bloodline: A LitRPG Multiverse Fantasy

Rate this book
[The Blood Hunters are coming. Hurry. Select your Class. Show us the power of your Bloodline, Lenny E. Cook.]

Before that notification popped up, Lenny was just an office worker and part-time guitarist, a firstborn from an eccentric family of foodies. At 32, the earthly mortal had no powers and few real worries in the Rank Above All Multiverse System.

Then he wakes up in another world. With a rare Bloodline, an urgent Class Selection, and hunters already closing in.

***

About the Pure Mage Build is a power fantasy and progression isekai in a multiverse system after full integration. All kinds of magic are on the evocation (fireball, fireball, fireball!), enchanting, necromancy, space, time, and more.

About the The Rank Above All Multiverse System, or RAAMS for short, blends classic mid-level crunch with magic, quests, and cultivation elements that are dynamic and easy to understand. The paths to power include classes, skills, spells, treasures, evolutions, dungeons, and, yes, fun power merges.

About the Definitely strong-to-overpowered with chaotic challenges and some Slice of Life moments. Think Overlord and The Last Airbender doing fusion dances with Solo Leveling and Dragon Ball Z. So, we might lose a mountain or two. Maybe more. Then enjoy some ramen right after.

What’s the Rank Above All with a Pure Mage Build! Buy, read, and rock on.

Not that good

I have read many lit rpg books. This is not the best. It is written very one dimensional. The mmc talks like he is in the 80s. There doesnt seem to be a flow between scenes. The mc powers up quickly and seem more like a cartoon character. Seems very childish.

Very good read

I enjoyed reading this book very much and I recommend this book to anyone who likes LitRPG and progression types of books with lots of action.

The world is very vague, and hand-wavy. The character seems like he's stoned, and talks like an 80s cartoon. I kept expecting him to say cowabunga. Honestly it made me feel a bit dizzy. Maybe for people with stronger wills than me.

I had a hard time reading the beginning of this book; I could not figure out if I liked the main character enough to continue reading it or not. I just did not understand this character, well, neither did anyone else in the book too, so there is that.

The main character is so laid back that he really doesn't seem to take anything seriously except the want to grow stronger. Reading his interactions in regards to serious matters actually hurt my head and constantly made me ask myself if I wanted to continue reading this. Luckily after the first quarter of the book, the storyline somehow became less of a character growth story and almost a montage of battles that grew the character in ways that doesn't even begin to make sense even in this universe (even the system administrators couldn't figure it out).

There are some fun pop culture references that are hilarious, and some characters that are downright Anime Tropes.

Please note that his multiple personalities are never explained, nor are they explained later when they have their own presence in the universe. I don't even think this can be considered a spoiler as it was NEVER explained or theorized on. The author just expected the audience to roll with it like the main character does.

Anyway, good luck and have fun.

Another reviewer used the term "hand-wavy" for this and it fits completely. Lots of things keep happening and there are many upgrades and skill merges and what have you, but it's never rooted in any type of world-building. Numbers go up but they feel random, not at all connected to a structured system, instead they go up after something, anything really, happened.
I guess I have to admit that this author is just not for me. His books are mostly well-written and the blurbs pull me in but after reading Rogue Ascension, Overpowered Wizard and this one, Pure Mage Build, I am always frustrated by the writing style.

Honest to God, I don't like to say things like this, but I have to say it: this is garbage.

I've read the first three chapters, and my goodness, it's awful. There's no character introduction, no conflict, just a quick discussion about magic, no context for that magic, and a lot of terms that I have no idea what they mean.

There are many better books out there, so don't waste your money on this. If you still want to read this book without spending any money, check out Royal Road, where this book is free and should stay free because it's written like fanfiction.

I wanted to like this more than I did.

There was a good story underneath, but everything just felt....rushed. MC goes from Rank 0 nobody to fighting gods all within one book, that's the sort of arc I'd normally expect to see over a couple books in a series?

MC is also beyond OP. Just set up in a way to go all in on a single skill stat (technically 2 but it doesn't change much) that buffs everything, and the one weakness he should have (regen) just gets hand waived away with a couple items.

I'm not sure i'd read a second book at this point to be honest.

Very very very bad

Atrocious just truly truly atrocious. If you want to protagonist who's insanely overpowered. If you want to protagonist who has so many spells they literally never use the same ones after a battle. If you want to book where the author just totally makes stuff up as they go along. If you want absolutely no consistency and a lot of over-the-top hyperbolic nonsense. Then this would be the book for you. If you are looking for anything resembling a coherent story then move along.

Worth Finishing

First I loved the idea of a MC that was pure magic and overpowered at that. This book definitely didn’t disappoint in that department. In the beginning though I didn’t think I would finish it because you can say I didn’t vibe with the MC. But I loved the concept so much that I stuck with it and very glad I did. Hell I even started to like the main character towards the end of it. So if you want a pure magic power fantasy definitely worth the read.

I really wanted to like tnis.

I got to 80% and had to stop. Maybe I'll go back someday, but not for a while. It was decently written and I liked the MC. My issue was there was way to much author interference with the MC. He just kept getting more and more outrageously overpowered rewards. Most of what I read were descriptions of new skills or abilities and very little plot or story. I was bored.

Preposterous fun for young readers

This book is a silly, chaotic mess. Powers and spells pop up out of nowhere. Op will run out of power one moment only to suddenly have power the next. Titles of powers and rank-up names sound like they were poorly translated through several languages. The list of transgressions goes on. But it's not written for me. It's a great story if you're, say, age 12-16 and love over-the-top anime. For that very specific audience, it's 4 stars.

Very Enjoyable

A pure mage build was enough to get me reading this book. I didn't expect to like it so much. I can see influences from other authors, influences the author parades which makes it more fun. I had to get used to the MC's way and rhythm of talking but once I did, all was good. Looking forward to the next book!

This one wasn't for me. I love the tropes, a LitRPG about a wizard is exactly what I want.

Unfortunately, the MC felt pretty two-dimensional to me and as far as the litrpg aspect he could just kinda do whatever magic he wanted whenever, which really undermined the hard magic tropes the book was trying to lean on.

an OK MC, quirky cast of characters fast paced book.

An unusual quirky book an MC who has multiple personalities, and who ingest some of his magic abilities like he’s snorting drugs. And a eclectic cast of side characters. Some may like it, some may not. The action is passed phonetic and the MC is overpowered, which I like. Give the book a shot. You may enjoy it or you may not.

It started fun, then just became tedious. The MCs lost dimensions as it grew named personality traits. I'm mostly rating it, so that I know not to come back and try to read it another time.

Great work!

Another great work! I highly recommend this and all the other series he has made. Especially the apocalypse comedy series.

Crazy Pacing

The pacing in this book is much faster than others. It makes sense for readers familiar with his other works. Book two needs to come soon
