I got to say I loved this book. it has all the correct Deadpool fourth wall smashing insanity, lots of action and the return of faverite side characters. The only possible reason I could even consider giving this 4.5 stars is I hate when big fight scenes just get skipped, but even that is done in such Deadpool fashion I can accept it.
Deadpool is back in Japan/Viz. No villains are safe because this time he is not just back for a job (but he might take one on the side), he is here for revenge. Who could inspire such feelings of revenge with in Deadpool? However he might have a bigger job to do, partly connect too a certain movie.
The is the perfect ballance of Deadpool, being unhinged and doing things his way. If the villains thought they were getting another hero they will not know what hit them. I can't wait fir the next volume. There has to be a next volume.

not a bad entry into the series at all, but the writers completely gave up on the whole "Sakura Spider is dead" gimmick way too early on. Not to mention the pacing is kinda rough, but regardless it's still a fun ride all around. I very much enjoyed the opening bit, playing into the stereotypical Japanese Manga protagonist and all the tie ins to the MCU were a nice addition too. Overall it was good, but I didn’t feel like there was a lot of meat on the bones of this story. I'll still be buying Vol 4 if it ever comes out though.

September 26, 2026Amusing and discombobulated. Typical Deadpool. Not as good as the first 2, but I still liked it. Just can't say that I loved it. Just when it seemed there was going to be some semblance of a plot, POOF! It was over. I'm not even sure exactly what happened. If I wasn't such a big Deadpool fan, I probably would not have enjoyed it at all. Weak 3 stars, just because it's Deadpool and had an appearance by Loki, another favorite.

A new volume of Deadpool: Samurai collecting the manga that tied in to the "Deadpool and Wolverine" movie, plus Sakura Spider's American comic debut.
Ostensibly, this manga was to tie-in to the movie and the yellow cover with the bloody three clawed mark hinted at a Wolverine appearance. The character that was played famously by Hugh Jackman did not appear.

Well, it was a little clunky. Definitely not nearly as good as volumes 1 & 2. It was a fun romp with Deadpool, Sakura Spider, and Loki, but it didn’t have any of the same feels. Still fun though, just not as fun.

As silly as any other installment of Deadpool. I do like Loki joining the team and bringing in Wolverine-Pool.

So this is terrible. Goofball Deadpool hinged with a story that makes no sense. It's not helped by the fact that every panel is floating in space with only speed lines in backgrounds. Makes it really difficult to follow the action without any references.

A perfect end to a perfect book trilogy, no notes, just perfection incarnate

Type of book I could go my whole life without reading but since it’s sitting right there, I might as well. The opening was good lol and it’s nice to see Spiderman: Fake Red referenced. Overall fine; if you like the previous entries, you will like this one. Good for some light reading and a few good chuckles.

Since Deadpool tends to be very pop culture and reference heavy, an initial primer before the review.
Do you need to read the first two volumes of "Deadpool: Samurai"?: It definitely helps as it re-introduces some of the recurring characters and which iteration of Deadpool this is. But I would assume people would read them anyway since it's part of a series.
Do you need to read Marvel titles?: No, but this is definitely Ryan Reynolds Deadpool of the movies. There is even a comment where this Deadpool says he doesn't know about the lesser known characters some bad guys are gaining their powers from. That said, a cursory understanding of the MCU is necessary for some jokes to land. Like how Hawkeye is not cool and what the Loki television series is up to.
Do you need to read other manga titles?: No, but once again, it does help with a few jokes, as Sakura Spider features prominently but you should know her from volumes 1 and 2.There is a Spider-Man: Red 4th wall reference, but it's not really a joke. There's also a manga parody at the start that might be funnier if you're into the tropes of the genre it's parodying.
"Deadpool: Samurai" is a continuation of the manga series, where Wade is primarily hanging out in Japan. A call about some yakuza killing his friend, Sakura Spider, sends him overseas to exact revenge. The story is definitely a vehicle for jokes and not a strongly plotted and detail oriented tale, the bad guys don't have much to do beside getting slaughtered or teased for later conflicts. Wade is firmly in the anti-hero camp who still has affection for heroes like Spidey and his friend, but his angst about being virtually immortal is not very engaging and you're happy for him to move back into the wisecracking mode.
With a great many jokes, a few really good, many okay, and a couple of clunkers, the voice feels authentic, which is the major point of enjoying Deadpool. The violence is not creatively slapstick but functional and gory enough that it would be R-rated if Ryan Reynold's recreated it. Overall, it's another solid entry in the series. But it does end on a cliffhanger.

On the one hand, this is a very recognizable Deadpool comic. On the other hand, this is actually a manga, and the fight scenes were often expansive, and therefore reading it as an eBook was sometimes difficult. The difficulty was increased by the fact that there was an American-style comic included in the collection, which caused the page flipping to be backwards (from Japanese style) throughout. I think I would really have enjoyed this even more in print, but that option wasn’t available when I originally acquired it. I’m going to go back and read the other volumes if I can find them in print, but not as eBooks.

More battles, more villians, more cameos! If you enjoyed the previous volumes of Deadpool: Samurai you'll like this one. Deadpool teams up with friends old and new to punch, shoot, and slice his way through the bad guys. Lots of fun for Deadpool fans

The artwork was good but the storyline felt flat. I know breaking the fourth wall is common in Deadpool movies but it felt a little off in this manga.
