Josie What was supposed to be a quick stop in Timber Forge to visit my best friend on my way home for Christmas turns into being stranded on a snowy mountain pass—with no help in sight. Until headlights cut through the storm.
Quiet, steady, and built like a tree, Jasper offers me shelter. Now I’m snowed in, wrapped in his flannel in front of the fire, trying not to imagine what else might warm me up.
As the storm rages outside, each laugh and stolen glance makes my pulse race—and leaves me wondering if some things—like Jasper—are worth staying for.
Jasper High above Timber Forge, my family’s cabin on the ridge has been my refuge—a place to escape loss, disappointment, and the noise of the world. I’ve built my life around quiet routines and the safety of solitude, convinced I don’t need anyone.
Then Josie shows up, stranded in the storm, full of light and laughter, and determined to bring back Christmas. She’s thawing my defenses one smile at a time, making me wonder if it’s possible to hope again.
Every second I spend with her makes it harder to imagine letting her go. I remember the silence before her—and I’m not sure I want to live in it again.
Madison Noelle writes small-town romance with big feelings, slow burns, and the kind of love stories that sneak up on you and never let go. Whether it’s a broody cowboy, a cinnamon roll single dad, or a big found family that feels real enough to hug, her characters bring all the heart and heat.
If you like emotionally messy characters, banter that bites and softens, and endings that feel like home, you’re in the right place.
When she’s not writing, she’s probably rearranging her bookshelves for the tenth time, overthinking a text, or bribing herself with a new plant or an iced coffee to finish a draft.
This story is everything you want in a cozy winter romance. Warm fires, soft flannel, and two people finding love when they least expect it. 🤭🫶🏼 It’s one of those books that wraps you up like a blanket and makes the world around you fade away. Allllll the cozy vibes. 🫂🫂🫂
What starts as a quick holiday visit turns into an unexpected snowed-in situation that feels straight out of a Hallmark movie… but with way more heart (and way more heat 🥵). The chemistry between Josie and Jasper is so natural and tender. Every glance and small touch carries so much weight. Jasper is the kind of hero who makes you melt. He’s quiet, strong, and so incredibly gentle with the heroine. And Josie? She’s a burst of light in his quiet, lonely world, showing him that letting people in doesn’t have to mean losing yourself.
There’s no unnecessary drama or over-the-top angst, just two souls slowly finding their way to each other while the snow falls outside. It’s calm, heartfelt, and beautifully written. The kind of book that makes you believe in love and the simple magic of the holidays. ✨🎄
If you’re looking for an easy, comforting Christmas read that will make you sigh and smile the whole way through, this is the one. I loved every minute in that snowy cabin and can’t wait to go back to Timber Forge to read the main series 🩵🤍

things to know about the book ↓
❄️ forced proximity ❄️ snowed-in ❄️ one bed ❄️ age gap (10 years) ❄️ dual POV
A huge thank you to Madison Noelle for allowing me to read this arc. These are all my honest opinions in this review.
I’m torn on this sugary holiday novella. It’s meant to be tender and spicy, bringing together two people who don’t feel like they quite belong where they find themselves, but they find that sense of belonging with each other after a snowstorm rescue. However, the writing style felt like the author was trying a little too hard to be poetic or romanticize each little moment. Instead of casting a spell over the scenes, I was puzzled instead as to how some of these interactions were being imbued with such deep meaning and the overall budding romance's rapid build. But then the epilogues were great.
Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and both had some experience. The h had been with two others who were meh (because they were boys) and the H hasn’t been with anyone for 10 months, but didn’t seem to have relationships, just occasionally went out with his best friend.
Some tropes/themes: ☆ 10 year age gap - 19/29 ☆ Their best friends are siblings so knew each other vaguely ☆ Small town both had left and are back in, her just visiting ☆ She's in college and he's a former firefighter with a bum shoulder ☆ He rescues her during a storm ☆ Snowed in at his cabin ☆ One bed/forced proximity ☆ Cute animals - cat, chickens, goats ☆ She pushes him to celebrate Christmas ☆ She brings light back into his life ☆ He’s steady and present for her ☆ Hard childhoods/family trauma ☆ Both are uncomfortable with their future prospects ☆ What are they going to do back in the real world?
Josie (h) is going home for the holidays, escaping her first year of college that’s not what she hoped it would be. She takes a detour to see her best friend first, but instead runs off the road due to weather and is rescued by her bestie’s older brother’s best friend instead (who she had a teenage crush on). Jasper (H) is also back in this town because of unexpected circumstances that are much more complicated and sadder. He’s got the whole broody vibe while also exuding airs of competence and grounding somehow.
The two end up in Jasper’s cabin, waiting out the storm. Of course, there’s attraction, but Jasper’s fighting it harder than Josie. He can no longer fight fires, he’s struggling still with the loss of his parents, and he doesn’t think he has much to offer a bright, young woman. Josie sees significantly more to Jasper and also just seemed to really want in his pants lol. For all that Jasper found Josie to be sparkling and uplifting for himself, she read more immature to me given that she nudged at him without thinking of consequences or before knowing his full story. Of course, she's 19! I think that the progression of their connection developing was off kilter and some of the scenes would have worked better earlier in the timeline since this is all occurring over a handful of days.
There are some adorable scenes between them, taking care of animals, playing in the snow, time in the cabin that’s not just naked time. But the feelings start simmering before the deeper conversations take root and I disconnected from that. Once the spicy scenes started, I also felt somewhat disconnected from them too. They’re plentiful and not poorly written, but I think I wanted to feel the intimacy between them the way I was supposed to, and I just didn’t.
Sharing their backstories with each other were stirring and touching moments, but they were sprinkled through their time at the cabin in a way that lessened their impact kind of. I'm not certain why the emotional impact of these didn't hit the way they should. Maybe because by then I was slightly checked out from the earlier vibes. I thought the story had a promising base and needed more fleshing out. It both moved quickly because of the timeline and felt slower because of the writing style.
The third act is of course them having to leave the cabin and return to the real world. There’s no third act breakup, the tension builds over how neither wants to let the other go and then they decide they’ll make it work somehow. The story then jumps to an epilogue five years later where the first few sentences summarize how they made it work and now they’re married and crazy in love. I do think that more transition was needed between these moments because it’s just glossing over the resolution and the more intense relationship development. The first epilogue is lovely though with their post-wedding haze and it’s made even better by the next one, two years after that, where Josie is achieving a dream and Jasper is supporting and loving her. So I’m saying this was alright because the writing wasn’t wonderful for me and I think it might be wonderful for other readers.
This was such a cute and cozy Christmas novella! The perfect mix of snowed-in tension, steamy moments, and mountain charm.
The MMC is the definition of a broody mountain man - grumpy, rugged, and impossible not to love. The FMC is pure sunshine - bringing warmth, humor, and light to every page. Their chemistry was chef’s kiss and the pacing felt just right for a festive quick read.
I’m absolutely hooked and can’t wait to devour the rest of this series!
“Kisses stolen between whispered promises, little touches meant only for us. Every brush of lips, every lingering hand feels like a confession. I can feel her pulse against me, her breath mingling with mine, and I think I might actually forget the world exists outside this room.”
Christmas in Timber Forge by Madison Noelle is a novella that wraps you in warmth like Jasper’s flannel and doesn’t let go. Set in the rugged beauty of Timber Forge, this prequel delivers a snowstorm, a stranded traveler, and a broody mountain man with a heart as steady as the cabin he shelters in.
Josie’s detour to visit her best friend turns into a full-blown emotional reroute when she’s stranded on a snowy mountain pass. Enter Jasper, the quiet, grounded, recluse who offers her refuge in his family’s cabin. What follows is a tender, slow-burn connection forged in firelight and flirty banter, where every glance and laugh chips away at their guarded hearts.
“Because you rolled in and everything shifted. The air, the light—me.”
Josie and Jasper are a pairing that feels both serendipitous and soul-deep. Josie, with her warmth, wit, and open-hearted charm, crashes into Jasper’s quiet world like a snowstorm, she’s unexpected, a little chaotic, and utterly transformative. Jasper, the broody mountain man nursing old wounds, is all steady silence and protective instincts, but Josie’s presence stirs something tender in him. The fact Their chemistry simmers in the stillness of the cabin, built on stolen glances, shared laughter, and the kind of emotional intimacy that sneaks up on you. Together, they embody the magic of finding connection in isolation, two strangers snowed in, slowly becoming each other’s safe place. It’s a dynamic that blends grumpy/sunshine with healing and fate.
This novella may be short, but it’s emotionally potent. Perfect for fans of snowed-in romances, protective, emotionally wounded heroes, secluded cabins and holiday vibes. Christmas in Timber Forge delivers flannel, firelight, and slow-burn chemistry with a heartwarming punch. It’s a story about finding warmth in unexpected places, and choosing connection even when the storm clears.
A huge thank you to Madison Noelle for the early copy!
The perfect spicy little novella to get in to the Christmas mood!
Let me start by saying I haven’t read any of the other books in the Timber Forge series, but after reading this novella I am definitely interested in the rest of the series. This novella takes place before the other books and so nothing will be spoiled if you decide to pick it up!
I feel like novellas can be a tricky thing to pull off in creating enough tension and realistic relationship growth in so little of pages. The book takes place over the few days before Christmas during a storm. I think Madison did such a good job with the pacing of their relationship. While there was definitely attraction in the beginning, I didn’t feel like it was insta lovey. The scenes that played out over a few days felt natural in the progression of feelings.
I really enjoyed this one and I’m so excited to get the rest of the characters stories just from the tiny glimpse we got of them here!
Thank you @mad for the copy of this arc!!!
❤️ forced proximity 🤍 one bed ❤️ snowed in 🤍 Christmas prequel novella ❤️ age gap
I enjoyed this Christmas Novella from the author. Definitely was a very enjoyable and quick read for me. I love her style of writing in the story definitely kept me engaged and invested. This is the perfect holiday way to get you in the spirit for the season! Looking forward to what she writes next.
Such a good and cozy Christmas novella. There was so much to each character and seeing younger versions of the characters I love was so fun. You get the snowed-in tension, mountain man and coziness all in one. I can't wait for more of this series!
Such a cute little holiday novella! If you love forced proximity Christmas romances, this one definitely delivers.
I jumped in without having read the rest of the series, so there were a few moments where I felt like I was missing some backstory, that’s totally on me.
The story is fast paced, the MMC is a delightfully broody cowboy (my weakness 🥵🤠), and while some parts felt a bit rushed, overall it was a cozy, festive read and a great holiday novella to squeeze in between longer books. 💚❤️
Thank you so much to Madison and team for the gifted e-arc
This was such a fun dip back into Timber Forge. I love so much about this book. A cozy forced proximity dream. The spicy and the heart meltingly sweet. It was the perfect cozy Christmas read. Grumpy meets sunshine and the spice that follows is so good.

This is a prequel to the Timber Forge Series🤍
Storyline:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️ Song: Sexy Little Christmas- DLYN
This is a cozy holiday novella about Josie, who is driving home from college for Christmas, but is stopping in Timber Forge to visit her best friend when she gets stranded and is helped by Jasper. Unable to leave Jasper’s cabin, Josie and Jasper are forced to stay together for a the days preceding Christmas... which leads to an emotional and physical connection between the two...
What I loved most about this were all the holiday traditions Josie made Jasper partake in, which led to him finding happiness again, finding joy, and enjoying the holidays after difficult seasons in his past. I also loved how much Madison was able to fit in this short novella, by including so much of their families and emotional vulnerabilities, in a very natural way...
This was also my first book by Madison and I loved the writing... the amount of quotes I highlighted and wrote down!
The only thing to me was really the age gap, not necessarily the difference between them but Josie was 19, just starting college and to me, I just couldn’t fully get into the idea of them dating at that time... and for that reason, I am soo grateful for the epilogue and the way everything played out!
Although I did not like the age gap, I did love the rekindling crush trope!! I am really not a fan of insta love, so I liked the idea that she’s known him, had a crush on him... and all of this rekindled through the magic of Christmas!
This was a super cosy and cute Christmas read that totally hit the spot!
Madison Noelle delivers a wonderfully compact and festive novella that feels like slipping into a warm hug on a cold night. I absolutely adored the central dynamic between Josie and Jasper. Josie is pure sunshine, sweet and light, which makes her the perfect match for the grumpy, broody, and rugged mountain man Jasper. Their grumpy x sunshine pairing—complete with an age gap and a rekindled crush history—was spot on. Watching Josie’s lightness and easy affection slowly break through Jasper’s walls was the best part. Their silly, sweet, and fun moments really highlighted how they just fit together and are clearly meant to be.
With a backdrop of a snowed-in small town and a delightful one-bed scenario, the author manages to pack plenty of chemistry, emotional healing, and the charming chaos of a found family into the short page count. Despite the emotional moments, the pacing is handled perfectly; it never feels rushed or too heavy, making it an ideal festive interlude.
Whether you're new to the Timber Forge series or already a fan, this works beautifully either as a charming prequel or as a perfect holiday return. Highly recommend picking this up for some guaranteed Christmas cheer!
I have loved every chance to head back to Timber Forge and this Christmas novella was the perfect addition to this beautiful small town. It had all of the cozy, Christmas vibes I was hoping for topped off with a sexy, grumpy lumberjack.
When Jasper rescues Josie after her car slides off the road in a snow storm, he gets way more than he was expecting. After years of solitude, Josie brightens the cabin more than he could have ever expected. Her light, fun personality paves the way for Jasper to let go of the pain of losing his family and to move forward with the promise of a beautiful life with Josie and I loved how much fun these two ended up having together. Despite Jasper's initial resistance, Josie was exactly what he needed in his life.
Together, they work through the pain of their pasts and create such a beautiful, perfect future. Jasper is doting and supportive. Everything that Josie needed in her life and Josie understands him in a way that nobody else does. The way they love and care for each other is truly beautiful and made me love this sweet, fun, quick holiday read even more.

Madison Noelle came in SWINGING with this cozy snowed in holiday romance!
This is hands down my new favorite Timber Forge couple. Their chemistry and how their relationship progressed was so well done.
I loved Jasper and his broken boy mentality. He had to work through his past to believe he was worthy of love and a HEA.
Josie was a great FMC. She might be young but she comes off as a fun, vibrant woman that is currently at a crossroads in her life. Getting rescued & snowed in with her childhood crush was not on her bingo card but she rolls with it!
Overall, this is probably one of my favorite Holiday Novellas. The pacing was so well done. I hate when novellas dive straight into spice without any build up and that was definitely not the case in this book! I FREAKING LOVED IT. When the spice hit I was so freaking worth it!
“Let go, Little Storm. Let me feel it.”
I had always been curious about Jasper since meeting him in When We Were US. It was so nice to get his prequel story!

ARC Review: 4.5⭐️ Christmas In Timber Forge is a holiday Novella set in the Timber Forge series featuring Jasper & Josie.
Josie is on her way to Timber Forge to spend the holidays with her best friend and her family. Unfortunately she gets caught up in a snow storm and her car winds up in a ditch. With no cell service, she’s unsure how she’ll get out, but suddenly she sees headlights coming to her rescue.
The headlights belong to Jasper, her best friend’s older brother’s best friend, who she hasn’t seen in many years.
Jasper has been living on his own for a few years and doesn’t venture out much, but just so happens to be out that day and is able to rescue Josie. Unfortunately her car will have to wait for a tow truck, but Atleast she’ll be safe.
He takes her back to his cabin where they wait out the storm but the close proximity causes tensions to boil and eventually they snap. The two spend a lot of time together but neither is sure what’s going to happen when the storm passes and Josie can leave again.
Will Josie decide what route she plans to go at school and can she convince Jasper to give their budding relationship a real shot ?
This was a fun Christmas novella set in the snow capped mountains and loaded high with fun & spicy moments! This was my first time reading this author and I can’t wait to read more !
Christmas in Timber Forge is an adorable cozy winter romance. Think flannel, snowed in, and romantic fireside moments wrapped into a hug. There were so many parts that I found myself smiling and laughing at how cute it was. A definitive short read for this season.

"you're gonna make me melt before we even take off the dress." "Oh, I plan on making you melt,"
Josie had been on her way to spend the holidays with her best friend's family when her car slid off the slick and snowy roads. Being trapped and hoping to not freeze to death, the person she least expected to help her pulled in behind her. Jasper had been the guy she crushed on when she was younger, but she was younger and was always over looked. But because the roads were impassable she found herself having to stay in his secluded cabin until things cleared up. But being in a confined space for longer than a day led her old crush feelings to resurface.
Jasper is every bit of a broody mountain man who isn't used to having company. And the longer Josie is in his confined space the more he sees himself opening up and letting her in. She calms him and makes it easy to co exist. From helping him with animal chores to laughing and throwing snowballs. He starts to develop deep feelings that he isn't quite sure how to deal with, especially since she will be leaving to go back to school. But he is determined to keep her one way or another.
Thank you so much Madison Noelle for gifting me an early reading copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Before Hank and Wrenley, Hudson and Finnley, Hutch and Ginger, there was Jasper and Josie. And my goodness gracious, I need more of Jasper and Josie!
I love all of the Timber Forge couples, but Jasper and Josie are now the pinnacle 🥰 A long time crush plus being snowed in in a cabin together? What more could a girl ask for? They tried so hard to keep their feelings in check, but they were an inferno when they finally let go. I couldn’t get enough!
Plus when they end up at the Hayes family dinner? The stolen glances, the sneaking away, plus what Jasper says when he leaves? I melted like a snowman!
Now, this is sadly only a novella, so I don’t want to give it all away. But I promise it will help get you in the holiday spirit!
You will love Christmas in Timber Forge if you love 🎄 Age Gap ⛄️ One Bed 🎄 Delicious Slow Burn ⛄️ Sunshine FMC 🎄 Broody Mountain Man ⛄️ Found Family 🎄 Snowed In

Stuck in a cabin in the mountains during a snow storm. You will never guess what happens!
I loved that Josie was so much fun and brought Jasper out of his shell and got him experiencing new Christmas Traditions after being closed off for so long. It was pretty predictable how things would end up. I do love, that their story was wrapped up in the book and was able to find out how their life ended up.

Christmas in Timber Forge is a Novella prequel to the Timber Forge series. This is Josie and Jasper Blake's Story. This story takes place 10 years before Timber Forge. The Hayes Family members do make appearances, of course.
If your looking for a book to get you in the holiday mood. This book is for you. Its got its emotional moments, but nothing too heavy on page, just discussions of the past. There were some really cute, funny moments too. I think anyone looking for a holiday palette cleanser would love this story. And since its a prequel, there are not really any spoilers for the Timber Forge series, Which I highly recommend reading. Overall its a great pick for the holidays! In honor of this being my 1st holiday read of the season. Im changing the rating emoji to snowflakes. Rating: ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Christmas in Timbeforge - Madison Noelle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 4 Stars 🌶 - Spice Level
Josie is driving to Timberidge to visit her best friend, but gets stuck on the impassable snow roads in a ditch. Jasper is driving along and takes her with him to his secluded cabin until roads are cleared and her car is pulled out. He's the grumpy loner and she's bringing a little Christmas spirit along with her.
Since his cabin is only 1 bed room, they are forced in proximity together which he tries to deny his attraction to her. He tries to be a gentleman while Josie keeps getting closer and closer. Finally the F*it moment comes and it was nice and hot like a cup of cocoa.
Absolutely a warm Christmas read hitting a few favorite tropes of mine!

🎁 ARC Review: Christmas in Timber Forge by Madison Noelle ⭐️ 4.25/5 stars
This novella was a sleigh ride of spice, swoon, and snowy tension! ❄️🔥 Madison Noelle delivers a holiday treat packed with some of my all-time favorite tropes: 🛏️ One bed 🌨️ Snowed in 🏡 Small town charm ☀️🌧️ Grumpy x Sunshine
Despite being under 200 pages, Christmas in Timber Forge doesn’t skimp on emotional depth. The characters’ healing arcs felt genuine and heartwarming, adding layers to the festive fun. I was especially impressed by how well the tension and chemistry were built—every stolen glance and heated moment had me hooked! 💫
If you're looking for a cozy, spicy read to curl up with this holiday season, this one’s a must. Perfect for fans of quick romances with big heart and snowy vibes. 🎄📚
🎅🏼💖 Highly recommend adding this to your December TBR!
Seriously I love everything Madison Noelle writes and this novella was the perfect little (spicy 😍) holiday read I needed to take me back to Timber Forge. I absolutely adored Jasper and Josie.
Josie is a little bit of a wild one, college student, trying to figure out what she wants in life. While retuning to Timber Forge to visit her best friend on Christmas break she runs into Jasper. The crush she had growing up. Jasper is a quiet, broken man, broody, and retired hotshot firefighter.
These two get snowed in together and Christmas magic explodes.
Their sweet longing and affection towards each other, the found family, and OML the spice… this book had all the cozy holiday feels. Absolutely loved it!
Huge thanks to Madison Noelle for this early read 🫶🏻

If you love a good novella that the characters are snowed-in, with a slow burn then make sure to add this book to your TBR list! Age gap is coming in strong with this novella, the MMC is a tortured broody mountain man with the MFC being a Christmas loving, college student. Even though this is a novella their story does ‘wrap up’ nicely and doesn’t feel like you are wanting more. You do not need to read the other books in the series to read this novella. This novella is a prequel to the Timber Forge series, which takes place approximately 10 years before book one.
*I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, this is my personal and truthful review.

This was a cozy holiday romance that not only had everyone warming up by the fire. I am absolutely in love with stories like this. Two people getting stuck because of a snowstorm. I love when nature puts great people in a spot they never thought they would be. And both MMC’s were perfect. That attraction that you don’t see coming. Acts of kindness that get your sweet spot. This book was filled with all the good things. It was a perfect story to grab a warm blanket, a cup of chocolate, and curl up in your favorite chair to read this. I have never read this author before, and I was kindly given this as an ARC, and I’m blessed to have been a part of the team. This was an absolutely wonderful, warm, and cozy romance.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely loved this cozy Christmas read!
Christmas in Timber Forge by Madison Noelle was everything I wanted in a short holiday romance — heartwarming, hopeful, and don’t forget the swoon-worthy age gap! The best kind of magic always happens in the middle of a blizzard ❄️
The chemistry between the leads had me smiling the whole way through, and the story perfectly balances festive charm with genuine emotion.
If you’re looking for a story that captures the true spirit of Christmas and leaves you grinning long after the last page, this one’s a must-read. I’ll definitely be keeping Christmas in Timber Forge on my holiday reread list! 🎄✨
Such a quick, easy read. I absolutely loved this novella! It’s fast-paced, fun, and set before the main Timber Forge series, which made it the perfect little prequel to dive into. The chemistry between Josie and Jasper was so good. Their banter had me smiling the whole time, and I love how Josie helps bring Jasper out of his shell. You really see both of them grow through their connection, and it never feels forced. It’s the perfect mix of sweet and spicy — enough heat to keep things interesting but still packed with heart. I finished it in almost one sitting and immediately wanted more of these two.
Recommend if you love: -one bed -age gap -broody mountain man vs sunshine female -found family -snowed in -Christmas cookies turned spicy
Jasper- a Yummy mountain man who hid his heart away after getting hurt one too many times. He definitely comes off as a grump, but he really shows his sweet side as the story unfolds.
Josie- she’s pure sunshine and knows how to lighten the mood, which makes her a good match for broody Jasper.
The chemistry between the two of them is amazing. I enjoyed the fun moments almost as much as the spicy ones.
If you want a sweet but spicy small town Christmas romance then look no further!!!
Josie’s car ends up in’s ditch, and Jasper happens to be driving by and rescues her. With the snow piling up, and with it not being safe, he takes her to his cabin. Jasper and Josie know each other from their childhoods, and a lot has changed: Josie is 19, unsure about her life and what she wants and Jasper is a loner, who doesn’t want to be a burden. However, as the two spend more time each other, the more Josie wants.
Well hot damn. What a delicious treat in such a small package. I do enjoy a novella and this one did not disappoint. I loved seeing how once reserved Jasper was to how he literally opened up to Josie. I really felt their connection, and how they were able to share the history. They were just too darn cute.
Whilst Josie is 19, she’s quite mature and Jasper was just obsessed with the storm which blew in.
