To Sam Price, the falls were a hiding place to escape the world. A quiet spot to burn the school holidays away. So when he headed to the falls that day, he never expected to find her there. She, Kate Rees, the best friend of his crush. With a gun pointed at herself. It's not how he'd expected to meet his first love. Nor was he ready to start his first lesson into discovering what beauty truly means.
But as Sam finds out, the hardest lessons in life leave us yearning for answers that take us beyond the path our innocence can bear.
Ben Wise was born in Sydney Australia though quickly abandoned the place for sunnier Queensland. He studied Software Engineering and his first story, Crimson, started as an escape from the insanity of his job as a 29 year old programmer/solution architect. Work suffered as he enjoyed the many late nights narrating Eve’s story far too much. Apparently, he didn't learn from that punishment, deciding to carry on writing a second story, Feathers Fall.
I really enjoyed this story even with all the heartaches. Feathers Fall by Ben Wise is interesting but in a strange way. The book was simple, yet not simplistic. For a relatively short story, the author really does develop the storyline well. The way I connected to the main characters happened effortlessly, so well done Ben :) The story flows by as it hits all of your emotions. I gobbled this book up in one day.
