I keep opening this then closing it not remembering which author I have actually read so now I guess im technically reading it again? cover to cover. see what happens to each book !
ive rated each individual book separate on the book page. but over all ... this has a bit of every dark romance out there. NOT every book is BDSM and slaves, some just go past the normal level of boy meets girl... great mix of authors most were new to me.
Marcos redemption and deliver were the biggest unknown author's books for me. ( I of course bought this because of pepper winters and CD Reiss so I don't include those). I am so glad I picked this up 2 years ago.. now off to TASTE ME ( purchased because of Alessana Torre)
When it comes to writing books, Pam has a gift for telling stories that grip the reader from the very first page to the very last. The characters she brings to life on those pages are unique and strong. They make you fall in love with them, root for them, care about them, and sometimes cry for them... Even some of the 'creepy' ones. And once again, Pam delivers a story that embodies all of that with Deliver
Right from the beginning I fell in love with Liv, even though what she was doing was fucked up. She does what she needs to do to survive and protect those she loves. You can't help but admire her strength and her capacity to endure after what she's gone through and what is required of her. And since the story is told in both Josh’s and Liv’s POV, you know the emotional turmoil they’re both going through.
I also fell just as in love with Josh as I did Liv. With his upbringing, beliefs and life experiences, to her he might as well be from Mars, they're that different. And even though they are pretty much complete opposites, you find it believable that the two of them falling in love is a possibility, because that's the magic of Pam’s story telling. And she keeps you guessing till the end, especially when it comes to Liv’s partner in crime, Van.
Some people might think this will be a dark read, it's not. It's a romantic thriller that will not disappoint but leave you thrilled that you took my advice and bought this book when it goes live on February 28th.
I just won a copy of this book from a facebook page giveaway hosted by author Skye Warren. It seems that she and Amber Lin are the two authors I've read from this collection. Also read a short novella from Jenika Snow a while ago, so I guess she counts too.
Trust in Me is an old release by Skye Warren, which I've read previously. I've heard there's supposed to be some new materials, including a prologue and an epilogue. However after reading Don't Let Go, I'm not sure I wanna revisit what Carlos was capable of.
This was a limited edition boxed set which was as cheap as chips. It had 12 books and some of these were full length novels. Total reading time 42 hours and 4 minutes. That is a lot of reading time!
Usually when I have bought these boxed sets I have found an inordinate amount of bad stories to the occasional decent one.
This set was different. I would say at least 9 of the 12 were good reads. Some better than others but good nevertheless. Only three (approx) would have been a waste of my time. I even purchased other books as a result. I think that would be the point of cheap boxed sets. So this one was definitely worth it.
To see my opinion on individual books from this collection see books by title.
I don't believe this is still available but if it ever was I would recommend it.
A great collection of stories. Pepper Winters' was the best one in my opinion but I also quite liked Linda Chase's story and the ending to Gemma James' kept me on the edge of my seat. Anna Zaires' book I've already read and liked that the first time (though, I still don't like 'Julian').
First things first I have mixed feelings about dark romance and more curiosity than interest. I'm trying to understand the appeal. Reading a collection like this is often a way of trying several authors of a genre at once. Usually authors to add to my list of ain't-gonna-bother. My quest for understanding what dark romance actually is continues. I'm becoming an expert in reading pointless angst, though
Strengths: A few of the stories were alright. Weaknesses: Most of the stories were boring angst fests with mediocre plots and all sorts of WTactualF sex
OMG, what horror! I only read the first story in full - speaking of Stockholm syndrome! This story was a textbook! Tried to read a few others, but in the end decided that I read romances for enjoinment, and this was a complete opposite. Still don't understand why people are carping about 50 Shades (which was actually a pretty sweet story), when we have these "tales of dark possession"....talk about abusive relationships...
Where I discovered Pepper Winters, Anna Zaires, Shay Savage, Skye Warren, Pam Godwin, Gemma James! If you've read these ladies, need I say more! After reading there stories that were in this Anthology, I had to keep reading the rest of the books that followed!
Twist Me by Anna Zaires & Dima Zales A classic kidnap story, only she is given free reign on a mostly deserted island. It ends as you would expect a dark tale to end, and I enjoyed the writing and the story.
Destroyed by Pepper Winters I feel I have been reading this story FOREVER. While the over all tale is pretty good, there is a lot of repetitiveness (something that happens in real life, but it gets a little boring in a story).
Trust in Me by Skye Warren I kind of liked the twists and turns this one took. Villains not really as villainous as it first appears, and villains who are worse than you thought.
Marco's Redemption by Lynda Chance A shorter story in the collection, which was nice. The story was fine, I don't really feel one way or the other about it. (had to go remind myself what the story was about just to write this much)
Deliver by Pam Godwin finished 1/2/2020 Not surprisingly, this one also dealt with kidnapping. Though we see it through a different lens, as our heroine is now the aggressor. I also liked that it didn't just end with the rescue. Interestingly, I am reading another book about a kidnapping (Pretend She's Here by Luanne Rice) that also doesn't end with the rescue - it shows the aftermath, the press, the trials, etc. I think this adds more realism to the rescue tales. To often we are stuck with the "and then they were rescued and lived happily ever after" endings which when I was 8 were good, but now are not quite satisfying enough.
Three Nights with a Rock Star by Amber Lin & Shari Slade Thus far my Favorite story. The sex scenes were hot, the possession was more or less consensual, and it had a nice HEA ending. LOVED!
A Beautiful Prison by Jenika Snow This one was okay. Not my favorite of the bunch, and maybe I am jaded because I just watched a video on human trafficking and couldn't separate myself enough to really enjoy this story.
Otherwise Alone by Shay Savage I thought this was a little short, until I started the next story, and realized this is more like a teaser to get you hooked, and then you want to know more about Evan - and so, you read on.
Otherwise Occupied by Shay Savage Most of the "Tales of Dark Possession" have involved some sort of captivity (by choice or otherwise), but this one went a different way. It is a tale of being possessed by your past, by what you have done and how it affects your present. It is a hope for the future, and and acknowledgement that maybe you don't deserve a future. I liked the main character quite a lot, but the others were a little flat (but maybe that is because we are seeing them through our tormented hero's eyes, and he tries to keep his distance).
Unravel Me by Kendall Ryan Another story with a twist on the dark possession...this one involves amnesia. I liked it a lot, it was more a romance than an erotic tale. Thumbs up.

I love these collections - they offer a way to try out new authors without great expense as they are always such a bargain price. some of these are stand alone books and some part of a series. I've read books by some of the authors in this bundle, and one from it - Three nights with a rock star and i've included my review of that here .
Three Nights with a Rock Star, Amber Lin and Shari Slade Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
well – being an ex Sunday School teacher myself in my teens and like Chloe pregnant and unmarried, this book struck a chord with me. I’ve also a weakness for the Rock Star romance bit too so… Big sister Hailey is determined to make whoever got her little sister pregnant take responsibility – she’s not after him to marry her, just do his part as a dad and be there for Chloe and the child..she’s not thought it through though, travelled on impulse and ends up totally out of her depth. She’s a quiet girl, looked after Chloe since she was 18, took a job with the church to support them both instead of doing college, and has gone out of her way to ensure the sisters aren’t tarred with the same brush as their mother, who everyone knew was a drunk who used men to pay for what she wanted. She feels like she’s been so serious all the while that fun has avoided her, so when Lock comes up with his three day control proposal she can’t resist the chance to let go. She hasn’t told Chloe what she’s doing though, and Chloe is holding another big secret that could have made a huge difference… Hailey and Lock are scorching together, a new experience for her and Lock keeps telling himself its novelty he’s feeling, turning the good girl bad and nothing more. He’s kidding himself though and the heat between them gets hotter and hotter, especially when band member Krist joins them one night! Of course something that hot has to explode – and it does. Well, this is a fun read, and very erotic and sensual. I enjoyed the real “touring” feel to the novel, having read some rock and film star ones recently where the characters lived the part in name only, and filming/touring wasn’t part of the action. I like to feel the whole life of the characters, to be there with them, to live the drama as they do and it worked well here. Stars: Five, a great read. ARC supplied via Netgalley and publishers
I really do like dark lit and so I was very excited to get a hold of this boxed set of entirely dark twisted erotica. Unfortunately, I skimmed 10 out of 12 of the stories. I just didn't find them engaging and couldn't get into them. The two books I did read were Twist Me by Anna Zaires and Torrent by Gemma James, which had already been on my TBR list.
Twist Me: I would give this one probably 3.5 stars. I found parts of it interesting and for the majority of the time I wanted to keep going to find out what would happen next. Overall it was fairly unbelievable on most counts and I did skim some of the more repetitive "I should hate Julian, but I don't" internal monologuing. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough to this story to keep me interested in reading the next 2 books of the series. I'm really quite fine with how this one ended without continuing the series.
Torrent: Oh dear. This was definitely twisted and brutal and I really enjoyed the story but would've preferred if there had been only one book. Similar to how I felt about , I think it was fine as a single book. I found this scary and intense until the end of the book, where all logic and believeability, went right out the window. So that basically did it for me for that series.
I'm definitely not saying this is a bad boxed set, and the writing is very well done and edited. But I just couldn't believe most of it and felt like a lot of it was just too far fetched for my taste. But again, that's just me.
My reviews can also be found on Amazon under the specific two titles, as Take Me: Twelve Tales of Dark Possession is no longer available on Amazon.
An awesome collection of authors!! Here's my first review - more to follow!!
* Three Nights with a Rockstar by Amber Lin & Shari Slade
If you're looking for a spicy rockstar story, this is it.
Hailey is a preschool teacher who is determined to find out which roadie in the Half Life band crew got her sister Chloe pregnant. Chloe refuses to reveal the father's identity. In order for Hailey to get full access to the band and crew, she has to sign a 3 day non-disclosure contract for the band's lead singer, Lock, because he wants full access to her. Lock has learned the hard way to protect himself and the band. Hailey spends an eye-opening weekend with Lock as she searches for her sister's lover. A video of Lock and Hailey's elevator escapade is leaked and threatens their reputations. When Hailey walks away from Lock at the end of the weekend to deal with this disaster, Lock is forced to confront his feelings for Hailey.
This is a steamy romance with interesting characters and unexpected twists that balance out the storyline. I love the different personalities of the Half Life band members and how they interact with each other. The chemistry between Lock and Hailey is sizzling and the adventurous love scenes are smoking. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to the next one.
Before I begin...if you don't like dark reads or can't handle rape scenes (especially between step-brother & sister) please don't read this book.
That being said...I LOVED this book! Alex had a huge crush on her older step-brother's best friend, Rafe. The thing is she was only 15 and he was a good bit older (maybe 21). He knows she has feelings for him and he feels the same but refuses to act upon it due to the age difference. Little does he know that his best friend has been acting on his feelings towards her and not in a good way. Things happen and Rafe ends up accused of raping her and gets sent to prison for 8 years. How could she do that to him? He doesn't understand but he plots his revenge on her until he gets out. But once he has her in his possession as much as he wants to hurt her and keep her forever, once he learns the truth of why she let him go to jail, he can't do it.
It's twisty and dark and I loved every word of it. Rafe is the type of guy you hate for what he is doing in one scene and love him in the next.
I would definitely recommend this book for a lover of dark romances. What an awesome way to find some new authors and begin some new series of books!!
I love all these collections of authors - some of these stories can bee stand alone books and some part of a series. - Beautiful Prison By Jenika Snow and that is the review that i have posted here
Ruby was ready and willing to take the little money she had in her pocket and get away from her dead beat mother who only knows she is there for her money. She set out to make something of her life. she is kidnapped by a human trafficking ring at the bus station. Her life is for ever change.
She is shown off to men looking to buy women, this is where we met Gavin. He buys Rudy so she can be his submissive. She should hate Gavin, and fear everything he represents, but she also can't deny that her body aches for his touch. He tells her she is his, that he owns every part of her, and everything inside of her knows that is the truth. She must decide if she going to hate Gavin or love him. Does see value her freedom or is that freedom with Gavin
As a whole, this story was win for me and I highly recommend it to anyone that loves their dark romances. It is a must read
OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE BOOK: This is a must read and good on the dark side.
When I first started reading this book, I thought it was going to be just a fluffy, kind of average story of a rockstar, based on the blurb. I'm not too proud to say that I sold this story short. It is so much more than that. It is a fun, sexy, and totally entertaining story that I didn't want to end - and I was so mad when it did! That's how caught up in it I got. I loved it! The characters just jumped off the page and I was fully engaged from page one to the very end. The relationship between Hailey and Lock was intense, but it was also kind of sweet, and I really liked watching how it grew from one thing into something else altogether. This is definitely one I would recommend to others - especially those whole love their rockers hot, heavy on the sex appeal and sweet. Loved it.
I only read Pepper Winters' story in this anthology and I was floored. If you are familiar with her tales, then the set-up is not too surprising, but if you are not, then you need to brace yourself. Winters writes heavy, dark, and tragic stories that eventually find its way to an HEA. I love her stories because they're raw and gritty and in no way happy unicorns that piss gold coins and rainbows. Her stories are so emotionally charged that I sometimes have trouble continuing, but I do because I know its beautiful in the end.
This book contains stories that glorify abuse, kidnapping, rape, imprisonment, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. I regret spending 99c on this and it's the first book I've ever wanted to return. I kept skipping to the next story hoping it would get better...but no. These are not romances and it disturbs me that any woman would read these and find them erotic. Non-consensual sex is NEVER sexy and NOT romantic. It just shows how pervasive the rape and abuse culture is in our society today.
I actually read most of the books here before the collections, and loved them, so, if in a collection, decided to give the others a try
There were only 2 I skipped, both because I had read and was unimpressed by them, on other books. So much so, no second chances
Otherwise, I liked the other books, nothing was awful, some were just okay, and one set blew me away, and for that book alone, I'm glad I picked it up!
This is like a box of chocolate that you cant put down! All of my favorite Author's in one box set. These books are ALL 5 star reads that you will say, Why the Heck did I wait this Long to Read them!!! No two books are alike here, so you get quite the variety for your hard earned money! One-click this bad boy, pull up the comfy chair and get going!!!
Liked the Reiss, Warren, and Lin stories (new to me author and I will definitely read the rest of the series). Godwin's story was interesting - I loved Josh. My second attempt at a Winters story, and I just can't get into. The rest I skimmed through - did not like the voice, styles, characters, or story.
Wow. What a great collection of romance storytelling. Just wow! Spin (Songs of Corruption) CD Reiss 5 solid perfection stars Unravel Me Kendall Ryan 4* August 2015 Otherwise Alone (Evan Arden 0.05) Shay Savage 09/05/17 4* Otherwise Occupied 09/25/17 5* Shay Savage, the queen of lost souls and stone cold killers. This part of Evan's journey nearly gutted me.
There were some stories in here I really loved, but the rest were a bit of a disappointment. For this being an anthology of dark possession, there were several stories where I didn't feel they had anything to do with the theme and ultimately dragged out the reading of this anthology.
This was a really good compilation of stories. Normally, I don't read contemporary of any kind but I'm glad I took a chance on this book. Some of the stories I liked more than others and in some cases I've found new authors to read. If you like it dark and dirty this is a great way to go!
I can't even say whether the writing contained in this anthology was any good because I couldn't get past how much I didn't like the content. I'm starting to think that despite dark erotica being supremely popular right now that it's just not my thing. I tried, really I did.
