VINCENT BAPTISTE has accepted that he is meant to be alone. Since his transformation during the siege of Omaha beach in World War II, he's remained isolated, leaving only when he needs to feed. Until he finds an occult book that speaks of a blood prophecy binding a vampire and a human from a powerful enemy and he begins to wonder if there is more.
YVONNE MALONE is a gifted investigative journalist tasked with uncovering the truth behind the strange side effects of a new drug that is changing humans into monsters. She hits the ground running, leading her to a mysterious man that takes her breath away. She can't seem to concentrate when he's with her and in her gut she knows that he's dangerous.
Vincent's existence must remain a secret but Yvonne needs to let the world know that vampires are real. But when a growing paranormal enemy threatens to tear apart everything they know and love, will their connection be their salvation, or their undoing?
L.E. Sells is an indie author with a passion (well it's a borderline obsession) for writing delightfully smutty fictional romance in all its forms. She particularly enjoys paranormal/supernatural romance and fantasy a little more than may be deemed as sane. She also loves writing contemporary fiction, but she can't seem to peel herself away from the monsters and the fairies to save her life.
Going to the Water was her debut historical fiction novel which she published in 2017; she had no idea what she was doing when she published this one. Like marketing? What's that?
Genesis is a Fanfiction novel that she completed in 2023 and is available on Archive of Our Own (AO3). She needed to give Bella Swan a different ending (she will not disclose whether she is team Edward or Jacob, but she is for sure werewolf leaning...not to give anything away. Also, Bella definitely needed a stronger feminine narrative). Did she lose any of you here? That's okay, welcome to her ADHD world.
Kindred is her third novel published in 2025. Genetic vampires? Sure why not, let's just sprinkle in some biting and BDSM for funsies.
L.E. Sells is a labor and delivery nurse of 15 years which she loves but there's not enough coffee in the world to keep up that job and writing full time. She lives in Northern California (yes there are beaches, no they are not as good as LA or San Diego) with her two daughters (who are amazing) and husband (who is wondering if she'll ever get off the computer and hang out with him).
I LOVED this book! Unique take on vampires, love the addition of genetics and I can’t WAIT to read the second book! Vincent may just be one of my new favorite book boyfriends 😍
L.E. Sells had me hooked from the start! First, you have Vincent, a vampire shaped by WWII and long years of solitude, who is forced back into the world by a prophecy soaked in blood. He's built from secrecy and sorrow, and his quiet gravity pulls you toward him without warning. Then there is Yvonne, the sharp, fierce counterpoint who is brave, clever, and uncompromising. When they cross paths, a slow, unavoidable tension sparks between them that feels raw and smoldering. If you like atmospheric vampire tales with a strong heroine, moral ambiguity, and simmering romance, this one is impossible to put down.
Great story with twists I wasn’t expecting, a plot that had me hooked and anxious to keep reading, and enough spice that had my husband calling me out for smiling at times!
Love Vincent and Yvonne’s characters and their relationship…I wanna be a Kindred and find my own ‘Vincent’ now! I also really enjoyed the genetic take on the Vampires vs the typical bitten scenario.
I could def see this as a movie one day. I can’t wait for the next book and this one hasn’t even officially released yet! Aghh! lol
Okay, so I'm not gonna lie. It took me a while to read this. It starts out too slow for me and I realized it wasn't my style of reading. It wasn't until the book was pretty much done that I thoroughly focused. I actually started making myself read this book. I am definitely now hating cliffhangers, especially when it's a book that isn't released yet. Definitely a must read but understand that like most beginnings the book is a slow pace. The introductions of each character are detailed.
I was so surprised and excited by this book. This is not the usual thing I read and I was honestly expecting a 50 shades of grey vampire book. BUT…was I so wrong. The story just flows, the back story of the characters was amazing and there were so many surprises. I was honestly sad when I got to the end. Can’t wait for the next book. Highly recommend.
This was an excellent read, I highly recommend this one! I won't give away any spoilers here, but I was especially blown away by the author's writing style. Believable characters, excellent descriptive writing. Well done!
