Born on St. Patrick’s Day, they called her Lucky even though she never waited around for luck.
Clover Reed aka Lucky is a Texas A&M student figuring out life while becoming a rising star in fashion, social media, and beyond. She has a one-of-one style, a loyal fanbase she coined the Lucky Charms, and a presence that inspires girls everywhere. Lucky is THE "it girl," with an affectious personality and everyone knows it. But behind the viral moments and highs comes a story that displays the lows, heartbreak, betrayal, and survival.
From College Station to the private jets of Chicago and Miami, Lucky’s walks the path of fame and fear, love and loss. She gets the man of her dreams, 713 Spinna, a Houston rapper with charm and hidden motives. She quickly realizes that everything that glitters isn't gold. A man she put on a pedestal turned her life into manipulation, isolation, and abuse.
This story is told in Lucky's voice which is raw, witty, and unfiltered. Lucky Girl is a heart wrenching, emotionally charged story of self-discovery, reclaiming power, and finding healing. It's one of those truths that hit a little too hard. A. Denise wrote this as a love letter to every girl who has been hurt, doubted, and always stay true to themselves.
😭😭A. Denise I’m sending you my therapy bill! This book was everything - so many young ladies have been where Lucky was - getting manipulated by a “he knows better” man.. the message, the graphic scenes, the cry for help.. I can’t imagine how hard it may have been to write this story. I will say Lucky was that girl - she was loved and had her lucky charms holding her down! I think Shawn’s relentless pursuit of getting Lucky was a clear red flag, but she didn’t see it until it was too late. So many times I was like- this has to be the last straw, right? 😢I really appreciate the author shining awareness of intimate partner violence, in young people. The message was clear and intentional - especially during a time when social media is at the forefront of things. Everything online isn’t what it always seems.. 4.5✨
Wow! Just wow! I got this recommended by a book friend and I enjoyed every moment of this book. It’s a true testament of watch who you let close to you and sometimes what’s shiny and new isn’t what’s best for you.
This was such an amazing story. I didn’t know what to expect, but I honestly fell for Lucky as an FMC. She was so young and just trying to do her best, happy about her influencer status, dating, running game, and truly just being herself. This was a real lesson in being careful what you wish for and who you let into your life. Listen to those who are older and wiser. I’m honestly speechless, writing this with tears in my eyes..
Non stop tears flowing at the end. This book was so well written. I felt it would end they way it did , I really hoped it didn't. I am so sad and I pray that this story will reach more girls and women. Lucky is a lot of girls and women. Long live the Lucky Charms
I was asked to read this book by the author and I didn’t know how to feel about these first few pages because I normally gravitate towards older FMC. But this was seriously good. A young girl who is just living life on the wild side and just turned it around a little too late. Everything is not what it seems and sometimes, we have to listen to our families. I buddy read this and both of us felt for the FMC and certain MMC. All younger women need to read this . Well done author!
I really enjoyed this story! I am glad I read the prequel before jumping into this! I stand in Huey and Lucky all day! It was right person wrong time! They were perfect for each other! I was not expecting that ending! Heartbroken is an understatement! But overall I really enjoyed this ride!
This book was very touching and was a good eye opener! This is a great story about how everything that glitters is not gold. The grass is not always greener. The ending was very sad and unexpected!
Was not really expecting the ending. Wow. Ladies please be smart out there! Any type of abuse is never ok! If they do it once they’ll do it again! Get away early! Seek counseling. Your life isn’t worth it.
The following are all the thoughts I had while reading this book so it may contains some spoilers:
Yeah I wouldn’t have went with Houston. I don’t do that possessive shit. Especially when there isn’t an actual relationship.
Oh hell no. You don’t ever leave your phone. Dumbest shit I ever heard. 🙄🙄🙄
About to cry over a Chanel bag??? Couldn’t and WOULDN’T be me! Money has never impressed me. But she’s still in the young and dumb category. Her brain hasn’t fully developed.
Messy! People definitely saw you kissing and being called Houston’s girl. Now you kissing on Spinna! THE VERY NEXT NIGHT. Or two days later. Ok Lori Harvey. Lmao.
Not that you know he has a son but don’t know his first name is Shawn. How is he your favorite rapper and you barely know anything about him?
Omg do I even want to finish this book. Not pushed you out of a moving vehicle after yoking you up. Yeah no!!! Immediately no!
Honestly all the men she’s been with (except library bae) are not my cup of tea and I feel like they’re weak men.
And Lucky is very much still immature. But come on! I would NOT have gotten back in that vehicle. That wasn’t love or remorse.
Hopefully by the end of the book she’ll realize that.
Why would you call Houston? Fuck that i’m calling her brother or her dad.
Not “It’s here” so disrespectful.
He has clearly beat some brain cells out of your head because how can he take anything away from you? The brand deal was only yours. The home is yours. I’m not understanding and even if it wasn’t if it were me i’d give it all away for peace and no more violence.
“But he’s really sweet…You should give him another chance.” Stacy bitch didn’t she just tell you in her own words that he was beating her ass.

Oh! how i loved this book. The book drew me in because of the title and cover because I'm a st. Patty's day baby. The character development was great even down to the friend group relationship dynamics. Lucky was THEE IT GIRL. A real girls girl. Had some real ones in her corner. Lets just say this book had me up well past my bedtime. I was alll the way invested in the characters and by the end I was an emotional wreck. Im glad this book was written--I definitely would recommend this book to anybody but especially girls in her late teens-20s. I'll definitely be checking more out from this author.
Clover was a very lucky girl.. until she wasn’t. This is a common story for many young girls and it’s probably even more common now that social media is a big deal. This story is about Clover, a young influential girl who aspires a certain type of life but once she gets it, she realizes it’s nothing like what she thought. I loved the support she had around her though. The ending was sad but a very real outcome to these type of situations.
The way I've cried over Clover "Lucky" Reed. I was able to see the red flags with Shawn from the beginning. The love bombing, gifts, money, trips, the pop ups, unanswered calls & texts & the manipulation was all new for the twenty-one year old. Lucky was in love with the image of 713 Spinna but when the mask fell off... she was in fear of that man.
This was my first read from A. Denise and I'm excited about exploring her catalog.
This is a solid lesson for the good ol sayings be careful what you wish for. Also, everything that glitters ain’t gold. Be careful of red flags don’t ignore them. It’s a tough lesson for young woman to learn, and hell any woman.
I enjoyed this, but mannnnn I didn’t know it would end like that. 🥹

This book was really really good. It was very suspenseful and made me want to throw hands. Lucky was too good for the life that shallowed her up. I can definitely say the ending outcome was a shocker to me. Ladies if he hits you one time, then he’ll do it again. That first hit is to test the waters, but those crocodile tears and pitiful apologies are just that…..PITIFUL! Please seek help. 10/10 highly recommend 5 ⭐️ make sure to read Lucky You
Wasn’t expecting it to end like that! Such a beautiful story felt like I was watching a movie. I read Lucky You first and to come from that story to this one, just wow. I loved it !
Lucky Girl really left an impact on me I’m literally an emotional mess typing this. 🥺 It’s one of those stories that feels honest and real, and it pulled me in emotionally more than I expected. I truly recommend every young girl read this.
