Threat Level: Hammer

Rate this book
Genetic modification of magicals. Cyborg transformations. Genovary is up to no good, and now Billie Keller, head of the FBI’s Magical Threats Division, is right in their crosshairs.

The secretive leader of the company just happens to be dating one of Billie’s friends, and a double date is on the horizon. He knows Billie’s his enemy; she doesn’t have the evidence on him quite yet.

But her team is working to get it. Deacon, infiltration expert, is working from the inside. Izzy, Infomancer extraordinare, searches the magical dark web for cracks to hack into. And the rest of the team brings their own skills to the table to find the truth of Genovary.

Onyx, Billie’s bow-wielding pixie companion, is a member of the pixie council. The council feels it’s time they got involved. Billie doesn’t know what pixie involvement looks like, but given Onyx’s troublesome nature, thinks it probably isn’t wholly a positive.

They’ve faced elementals wielding fire and others with lightning. But Genovary’s continuing experiments mean the next threat Billie’s team could really be just about anything. Hard to prepare for the unknown.

Billie’s job is to get a handle on it all. And in order to do so, she’ll have to bend some rules. And outright break some others. That will put her job on the line if she’s discovered, but since her life’s already on the line, it seems a manageable risk.

As long as she’s not caught by allies or enemies, that is.

I will take all the team can offer to deal with Genovary’s next threat. But even then, can they bring down an enemy with the kind of power the Elementals are gifted with? Or will they face an even greater threat?

Either way, it’s what the FBI’s Magical Threats Division was made for.

Join the team for Threat Hammer, an urban fantasy action adventure that pulls no punches, full of magic, action, martial arts, humor, and seemingly endless snark. From Onyx, of course.

I’m TR Cameron, science fiction author. I’ve been an avid consumer of the genre since I was six, I think, when I broke the seal on my Dad’s copies of the Asimov Foundation books. It’s been all downhill since then.

I have a day job that I love most days, and writing is pretty much my only consistent hobby. When I find time that’s not already filled with my wife, my daughter, my writing, my work, or dodging the affections of our clowder of cats, you can find me playing video games (currently Dishonored 2 – I’m a little behind the times on this one), watching things (Marvel movies, American Gods, Agents of Shield, Justified, The Expanse, Gotham), playing board games, or, naturally, reading.

My favorite authors in Sci-Fi are David Weber, Jean Johnson, John Scalzi, CJ Cherryh, and the giants: Asimov, Pohl, Bear, Heinlein, etc. I read a lot in other genres too, and am a big fan of Matthew Woodring Stover, Michael Anderle, Jim Butcher, and I could go on and on and on. If I had to choose one favorite, though, it would be Stephen R. Donaldson, whose Thomas Covenant series was transformative for me.

Probably my pie-in-the-sky dream for my writing career is that someone would make a movie or television show of my books and I could be a part of the production. Sure, unlikely, but a clowder-dodger can dream, right? My more practical dream is that I can keep writing and both entertaining and connecting with my readers for years and years to come.

Bigger bad guys

Billie and her team are having problems getting proof against the man they know is leading the bad guys. He and his people seem to be good at hiding what they are doing, but Billie's team is making little cracks here and there and starting to make some headway. This series is really good, the characters both good an bad are very well written and so much is happened that I hate to put the book down.
