It always came to my attention that whilst Tommy wasn't of the age to be able to live through the Battle of Canary Wharf, and Ianto never really mentions him in stories taking place afterwards, it was never truly cleared up if he had actually died there. This story provides an answer by revealling that, yes, he did survive. In fact, he's very likely to outlive Ianto considering how close the story takes place before CoE.

But, it was a nice end to the Monthly Range. I actually like the idea of Tommy using the Cyberman to extend his own life. Kind of calls back to Kit Pendler designing the Cybermen out of the fear of where medical enhancement would lead. I also liked how Ianto and Tommy were able to get through to Jason, and how Ianto shows his secret selfishness and care for his friend by helping Tommy knowing that he would risk him either becoming a Cyberman or letting the one in the attic run rampant. I also liked how Tommy knows that he would never leave Torchwood truly, but encourages Ianto to try anyway - and that even if Ianto's life was there, he won't get the chance.

Sorry to see the Torchwood monthly series come to an end, but this was a nice bittersweet story to end it on.

Very bittersweet. Quite good. But as I have not been listening to the Torchwood One series, I feel like I missed out on probably half (at least) of the emotional weight of the story. Still it was very good and I enjoyed it throughly.
