Floriana, a British art student, travels to Greece to admire and study the magnificent ancient Greek artefacts. She couldn’t imagine, though, that a morning excursion to cape Sounion would turn to an agonizing race across Europe. Surrounded by mysterious sects, presumptive killers, and black roses, inexperienced and clumsy Floriana discovers with horror that she is the keeper of a secret that can save humanity from its most dreadful enemy: undeath.
Hi! My name is Penny BroJacquie and I am a passionate writer, travel blogger, and life lover.
After a 20 years career as a sports reporter in some of the largest media groups in Greece, I decided that life is more beautiful when you work free-lance.
A few months ago I published my first book, a travel guide called ‘City Break In Athens’ and I’m currently working on my first novel, a mystery adventure thriller called ‘The Undead Must Die: The Order Of The Black Rose – Book 1’.
When I don’t …write, I pet my dogs, I cook new recipes and I take photos. You’ll find me somewhere in Europe enjoying a cup of coffee or watching movies.
The Undead Must Die, Episodes I & II, (The Order of the Black Rose, Books 1) by Penny BroJacquie
4 stars - - - Good for Teens through Thirties (or older)
Floriana is in Greece visiting ancient ruins when she meets Eric, a handsome stranger, and is swept away. Quite literally onto a Yacht in the Mediterranean. Eric is joined my Maite and Egon who proceed to explain to her what seems like some cloak and dagger novel type story. This is about where I was definitely interested to find out the rest of the story.
Along her journey of discovery, she is swept into a world she never knew existed; the Order of the Black Rose. She learns of a "virus" that turns humans into the undead, zombie like creatures. The story itself is interesting. A quest by Hitler to create the super soldier, and a more noble quest to find a key to health and longevity, lead to murder, mystery, and intrigue. The ending is somewhat HEA with all issues resolved, but I am left wondering what the next book entails. Is Floriana to be the primary heroine or will each subsequent book be about another child who in the end finds out her world is not what it seemed to be. Either prospect has possibilities.
I rated this book a 4 because it kept my interest and has me asking questions like; what next, more children who once grown find out they belong to this order, is Floriana going to be a central figure in all the books, what about Eric?
I received this book from Triple A book blog in exchange for an honest review, which I have given. I look forward to a book 2.
Floriana is a young student enjoying a vacation in Greece. She gets more than she bargains for, however, when she first encounters a young man by the name of Eric. He invites her to a festival shortly before he touches her hand, thus drugging her. When Floriana comes to, she is notified that her help is needed. The Order of the Black Rose requires her assistance in cracking a vital code. Also, they need her to help fend off a hoarde of undead beings who were created to destroy the world. Will Flora be of any valuable assistance? Read the book to find out. The Undead Must Die Episodes 1 & 2 is a short, yet engaging read, and it leaves the reader hungry for more!
The Undead Must Die by Penny Brojacquie is comprised of episodes one and two in the first book of the Order Of The Black Rose Series. It is great reading for anyone who likes adventure with a good plot. The setting is an island in Europe across the Mediterranean sea. Penny gives you a great idea of what it looks like there. The story tells of an ancient people that is devoted to saving mankind from their own wrongdoings. Like in a great tale, there are other ancient people in it too, but these are the evil doers. The Order of the Black Rose are the good people and they are running out of time to save mankind from becoming mindless zombies with extraordinary physical powers. It takes one bite from an infected person to contaminate another, and there are many waiting to be unleashed on the cities of mankind. The Order of the Black Rose knows where the paper containing the antidote recipe is and they also know there is only one person who can decipher it, Floriana. Floriana doesn't know anything about The Order of the Black Rose and, because of the lack of time, they have to kidnap her to keep her from falling into the wrong hands. She can't believe what they want, because their tale is hard to swallow and she is just an art student; how is she supposed to save the world? To see if she helps or not, you will have to read the book. The Undead Must Die by Penny Brojacquie is a wisp of fresh air in this genre and I enjoyed the clean contemporary story a lot.
