Deserved 5⭐️
It was such a pleasure to read this book. I didn’t want the story to end. It was fun, so so sweet, hot and interesting. After so many dark books I craved this. Maybe it’s longing but I put it in my most favourites.
If I need to choose one word to describe this book I’d say 'smooth'. The story was steadily developing. If you need a rollercoaster of emotions, that’s not that book. I was giggling, melting, swooning, blushing and even crying.
James and Scarlett are a perfect duo. He’s confident but respectful, pushing but caring. She’s inexperienced but powerful, traumatised but strong. They’re so good together I don’t have enough words to describe. What I’ll say it that they match each other and I felt the chemistry and then love instantly cause it’s so easy to believe them. Aaand I know we love dirty talk. Here, she does it no less than him. 😉
Fake dating is not my favourite trope cos I don’t like it when characters deny their feeling for the most part. But here they both were very open, honest and straightforward. Everything the way I love.
It has everything a great romance book needs imo. It has plot (but not too twisted), it has spice (but well-balanced), it has characters’ arc (here it’s her. He’s pretty perfect from the start), AAAND it has NO BREAK-UPS and unnecessary drama.

I'm convinced that this book was found on a high school girl's laptop. Conflict gets resolved within a few paragraphs. The writing is just bad. Would not even recommend it to my own worst enemy. I didn't realised that I, the reader, would be the one getting wrecked.

Who knew the book she worried about would be her best yet? I absolutely had no doubt. Gallagher is a queen and Wreck Me is completely brilliant.
Meet the Beckett family, I’d like to get me a Beckett brother. A family who are rich, ambitious, determined and described in a way that they are completely desirable.
Wreck Me is up there with Sylvia Day in being THE BEST. It’s steamy in places but Gallagher will also take you on a wild ride of emotions. I feel as though she pulled me in and kept me hostage until I’d devoured the entire book. I need more like yesterday.
Everything about this book has given me a high quality reading experience. The characters are believable and felt real. Gallagher’s descriptions are rich and keep you feeling as though everything is familiar.
A real strength of Gallagher’s books are the strong females that fill the pages. Scarlett is another for the collection, despite her past, she remains genuine, determined and humble. I absolutely adored her.
This is a book which is completely unique and unpredictable. I kept trying to spot the wedge that would be placed but there was no way anything in this could be predicted.
Gallagher’s writing flows perfectly, it’s easy to feel as though you’re watching this unfold in front of you. This is a fabulous read with love, rivalry and steam packed into the pages.
I’ve read all Gallagher’s books and what I can confidently say is, this is the best yet. Gallagher is at the top of her game as has completely nailed it with “Wreck Me”. There is nothing negative which can be said about this one. Gallagher is one of the best.

As expected
Well written with a loose plot. I really can't abide when the premise is just basic communication.
Millionaires don't cut it anymore, dime a dozen. If you're not a billionaire then no point writing romance books. I personally don't know any billionaires only the ones featured in the headlines and I can't think of one that is handsome, desirable and below 50. They must be the ones who don't flaunt their wealth.
But back to the book, I stayed for the denouement which was exactly as I'd anticipated.

Overhyped. Virgin, highly educated stripper, Scarlett, meets playboy billionaire, James, and it's love at first sight. If you're reading this for the spice, then yes - it's for you and it's real good. It had a plot, but if you're looking for a plot that feels believeable, then don't. Don't get me wrong, I liked the story, but it got a little cheesy and far-fetched toward the end. BUT the end...I did not see it being that about Caelon...onto the next.

This had all the ingredients of a fantastically suspenseful little romance. But what it delivered was ... mostly just a lot of fornicating in one form or another.
If you were intrigued by any of the stuff in the synopsis...the heroine's shadowed past, the pole dancing gentleman's club, the fake dating, the MMC's scandal that forced him to find a partner or one would be handpicked by his father...the bad guys who threaten the Beckett family AND Scarlett over and over again.
Forget it. Those are an illusion. A mere backdrop to the hot and heavy dirty talk, innuendo, and lusty promises shared between the FMC and MMC. And the sex. Because there's a boatload of that, too.
As much as I wanted to (and eventually DID) like James and Scarlett together - the first half of this story just sort of ground my gears. Because although James is adamant that he wouldn't ever do something Scarlett didn't want, he DOES put pressure on her, almost from the moment they met, to have sex with him.
He's constantly bringing it up, constantly telling her he wants to have sex with her. Constantly talking about it - even when she tells him no or that it's a hard limit or that she can't.
He's not taking her shutting the conversation down as a final answer because he "knows she wants him too".
And don't get me wrong. Scarlett DOES want the man. So it doesn't feel as icky as other books in this vein have. But sex becomes such a focal point between the two that I struggle to believe James when he talks about how different this woman is from everybody else.
HOW. How is Scarlett different? Except that she didn't hop on his dick the first time he saw her. Instead, she told him she was a virgin and then pranced off. Literally the only thing that drew this man to Scarlett was the fact that she was untouched and that she didn't give it up to him immediately.
And he becomes hyperfixated on this for over half of the story.
Scarlett is a grad student in finance. She's whip-smart. And yet the ONLY thing this book focuses on is her body, her as yet untouched pussy, to be specific.
And I'm sorry - but her being a virgin at 23 is probably the least interesting thing about this woman.
Her mom was murdered by her stepfather - who's apparently a very bad man and from a rival family to James'. Scarlett helped put this man away and now his sons, her one-time step-brothers have a vendetta out against her and she knows if they see her again, they'll kill her.

How is that not a focal point in this story?!
So not only is this woman INCREDIBLY intelligent, she's also got a VERY harrowing past that gets kept hidden for 80% of the story.
Scarlett's promised tutoring or lessons in finance or something from James, but all she really gets it sex ed. And I wouldn't call what they do together lessons. It's mostly just him fingering her the first 40% of the book before they finally give in and he fucks her.
And yeah, I get it. It's supposed to be a sexy book, blah blah.
But don't pretend to make a woman intelligent and then just objectify her body and put her pussy on a pedestal the whole time. You're not doing feminism any favors by doing that.
Despite all of that, there were some things I did enjoy (even if they all kind of come with caveats of their own):
I DO like that James falls first, and falls hard. I like that he falls for Scarlett before he gets into bed with her too. That his feelings aren't based ENTIRELY on screwing her. Even though I have to wonder if part of that love wasn't based on the idea that that first screw would be mind-blowing.
It's just weird...how these men get about being with a woman who's never slept with anyone else. It's one aspect of the virgin trope that's never sat right with me. Ah well.
I also love that though the cards get stacked against them with the O'Connors causing trouble for the Beckett family and Scarlett's connection to the O'Connors putting her in danger, James and Scarlett don't let the difficulties separate them. They consistently and repeatedly choose one another, regardless of the consequences. If I knew nothing else about this story - the fact that these two people have chosen to love each other through the hard times is enough for me to believe that the relationship, however fast-paced, is real. Nothing beats watching two people choose to stand strong together against outside problems.
I do however wish those problems had been directly resolved by James and Scarlett. James' brother Killian "dealt with" the problem off page and we're only briefly told about it. While I was glad that no harm ever came to Scarlett, it might have been nice to see her directly involved in helping take the bad guys down - closure and justice for her for her mom.
The ending is very sweet, with James taking Scarlett to visit her mother's grave, and having the grave stone redone into something beautiful. That was a sweet moment - and there were many sweet moments, throughout this story - that really made me smile.
Don't let the 3 stars fool you. I don't know that I'd recommend this to anyone, unless they were just looking for a spicy good time. While I enjoyed this for what it was, I feel like the author really just wanted to write smut. That the plot of the story was just an unfortunate requirement to make a book publishable and so only the bare minimum was written to meet that requirement.

My first LA Gallagher book and I loved it! Scarlett and James’ story was full of passion, secrets and lots of “education”. LA Gallagher pulled me in with her writing while Avery Caris and Sean Masters kept me hanging on every word with their performance. They brought the heat to the passion and the angst/tension to the secrets. Oh and don’t even get me started on the accents! That alone made me melt.
This story and these characters kept surprising me. Just when I thought I could predict how something happened or how someone responded, the characters would take a different path! I wish some of the paths they took would have been a tad more intense, but I still enjoyed how things played out.
The epilogue has been ready to dive into the next book. I’m so curious to see what is going to happen next in the Beckett family.

I’ve been waiting to start this series, and now I’m disappointed I waited so long! I absolutely love a brothers series—especially when there’s plenty of banter—and this one delivered.
James and Scarlett were perfect in every way. Scarlett’s innocence paired with her strength made her such a great heroine. Their relationship might have started off feeling fake, but James knew from the start he couldn’t let her go—and I adored that he knew exactly what he wanted and never strayed from it.
The character development was fantastic, not just for James and Scarlett, but for the rest of the brothers too. I can’t wait to dive into the next book and see where the series takes me.

Oh how I loved the first meetup james x scarlet, how mmc fell for fmc made me believe in love again.. when scarlet wasn’t expecting love and happily ever after, who knew she would get it that too in such a beautiful way. The relationship between James and Scarlett was sweet and spicy 🌶️ I really liked the obsessive and accepting love James had for Scarlett ❤️ Of course he was attracted to her, but he wanted to make her happy and keep her safe which made the story better to me. I also loved the protective family dynamic and how each brother had their role to play in the story.
The audiobook was duet narrated and it was really good! Avery Caris did so well with her accent and portrayal of Scarlett. Sean Masters with an accent made me swoon and he was perfect for James ❤️ This book was spicy, but had an interesting story weaved in! The twists kept me entertained as well and the epilogue made me run to get the second book! This was my first book from this author and I’ll definitely be checking out more from them ❤️

Gave up at about 40%. The writing was far too flowery, excessive use of adjectives and entirely unbelievable and cringey. Nothing sexy about it at all. Shame as the premise was good. At least it knocks a few books off my TBR list.

The storyline was unique, sure, but everything that was built up—the tension, the stakes, the climax—ended up getting resolved off-page. Seriously? After all that buildup, we don’t even see the resolution?
Also, I’m getting a little tired of romance books relying solely on sexual tension to explain why the characters like each other. Like, yes—I enjoy spice! But I still want to believe in the connection. Give me something deeper than just lust.
That said, the writing itself was fine, and there were some funny moments. The spice was definitely good. But overall? Predictable. Nothing really stuck with me after finishing it. Might be time to reach for something with a little more emotional depth next.

The sexual tension in this one was PEAK, the narrators were even more perfect, and in general I was expecting a bigger, angst-filled climax, but was pleasantly surprised when the “big secret” reveal actually made them grow closer and more supportive of each other, and there wasn’t a big scary confrontation at the end. For some people I can see this as being kind of a let down in, but as someone who loves cozy and laidback romance, this warmed my heart 🥰

Billionaire MMC and virgin FMC is one of my favorite tropes if done well and this one definitely was! I loved James and Scarlett’s relationship from their first meeting and I absolutely adored how their love story unfolded. I’m not always a fan of a slow burn but this one was just right and the tension throughout was just chef’s kiss. I’ve loved everything I’ve read by this author, though this one might be my favorite. Can’t wait for the rest of the brothers’ books!

Absolutely loved!! Really enjoy Gallaghers writing anyway and think this new series is going to be brilliant.
Spicy and such a good easy read, not as dark as I was expecting it to be but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
