Mona's had bad luck all her life. Her mother died at her birth, and she was raised by a cold and controlling brother. Now twenty, she's failed to find herself a husband. And now, her crowning Stumbling into a fairy ring, and stranding herself in fairy land.
She's lost and at the mercy of a malicious fairy when a strange being appears, half woman and half monster. She calls herself the Beastwitch. Her appearance is frightening, and her powers are unnatural - but after she saves Mona from the fairies and her own foolishness, Mona can't help her curiosity. Or her attraction, as she progressively sees more and more beauty in this supposed beast.
Bargaining With the Beastwitch is a 14,000 word fairy tale short featuring a sweet and mildly angsty sapphic romance. It is also included in the collection Foolish Girls and Witches.
Melody is a wonderful and descriptive story teller. Though this story is shorter, it is complete with a full beginning, middle, and end. This shows how well Melody can tell a story.
This story follows Mona into Fairy land. She enters lost, but when she meets an unlikely friend, she ends up being found in ways she never thought possible.
This story includes fairies, a witch, a queen, a dragon, and humans.
Honestly, my biggest pet peeve of this story is that it wasn't longer! A beautiful story and a beautiful world.
I highly recommend for anyone who just needs to escape the real world for a bit.
