Addy knows every love story begins with a choice—and every nightmare does too.
At her husband’s funeral, Addy meets Heath—a man who knows loss just as well as she does. Their whirlwind romance feels like a second chance at life, but whispers from the past refuse to stay buried. Addy has secrets she swore she’d never tell. Heath has questions she can’t afford to answer. In this house, it’s impossible to know who the victim really is.
Dark, twisty, and disturbingly addictive, ALMOST is a domestic psychological thriller book that will keep you doubting every chapter—and everyone.

Samara Cove is a psychological thriller author whose debut novel, filled with dark twists and suspense, is set to release in December 2024. Originally from the West Coast, Samara now lives in Texas, trading ocean views for endless BBQ. When not plotting fictional thrillers or hanging out with her family, Samara can be found trying (and usually failing) to keep houseplants alive or watching Tiny Kitchen on YouTube “for research.” She believes the only thing more suspenseful than her novels is waiting for the coffee to brew in the morning.
Seductive, sinister, and impossible to pause — ALMOST turns a funeral encounter into a chilling descent of love and lies. The full-cast narration — Luke Welland, Mandy Grant-Grierson, Brian Pederson, and Adrienne Fleming — amplifies every twist and betrayal. A must-listen for fans of dark, twisty domestic thrillers!

This book was so hard to put down! It had me hooked immediately. Grief, gaslighting, twists, & tattoos. “Almost” has it all!
Addy meets Heath, the hearse driver, at her husband’s funeral. A second chance at love turns into a complete nightmare!
Could it be karma? Is Addy’s picker broken? Could Heath get any creepier? Both have secrets buried deep. Will either of them make it out alive?
The cast of characters will have you questioning each one & their loyalty to others. This psychological thriller is such a page turner. The twists kept coming & the end left me questioning everything I just read. Don’t even try to figure this one out. I assure you, you won’t.
Samara Cove is easily becoming one of my favorite dark & twisty authors.
Grief, gaslighting, and gut-punch twists—Addy didn’t ask for a psychological thriller, but life delivered anyway.
In Almost, Samara Cove throws us headfirst into the emotional wreckage of a newly widowed Addy... and throws in a suspiciously charming man with secrets so thick, you’d need a crowbar to crack them open. Naturally, Addy falls for him—because what could possibly go wrong when your trauma meets a sexy, strong, tatted, hearse driving man of mystery and intrigue?
The tension simmers, the writing hits hard, and the reveals are the kind that make you mutter “oh no” out loud at 2 a.m. Cove has a knack for making you feel deeply and doubt everything simultaneously.
Yes, Addy makes terrible decisions—and she makes them unapologetically. This isn’t a story about clean healing or smart choices. It’s about unraveling, rebuilding, and realizing too late that love and danger sometimes wear the same face.
Read this if you like your thrillers dark, your heroines messy, and your men suspiciously perfect… until they’re not.
Spoiler alert: when you think you have the twists figured out, think again!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
While this didn’t completely enrapture me the way The Sister-In-Law did, it still kept my attention and the twists at the end of the book were pretty great in my opinion!
A widow burying her husband, winds up falling into a fast relationship of sorts with the hearse driver. But this is a story where nothing is really as it seems and the good guy might be crazier than anyone suspects, but between the two, who will make it out alive?
This story worked well at getting under my skin. I was repulsed, horrified, angry, uncertain and just shaking my head for a large portion of this story. The twists at the end, most of them took me by surprise and left me wondering about everything I’d just read.
Thank you to the amazing author for allowing me to receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review! I’m looking forward to diving into more of her books soon! Because I will say this, so far each of her books have kept my attention from start to finish!
I went into this expecting a standalone thriller and was initially planning on a solid three-star rating. The story definitely kept me turning pages—I wanted to know what would happen next—but it was also one of those reads where you constantly find yourself thinking, why is she doing that?
As the book moves toward the end, there’s a rush of twists and revelations, but instead of feeling satisfying, it felt unfinished. There was no real resolution or closure, and too many loose ends were left hanging. If this is meant to be the first book in a series, that really should have been made clear—especially since it’s listed as a standalone. I personally avoid starting series unless all the books are already available, and cliffhanger-style endings just aren’t my thing.
In the end, this book felt like it stopped just when it needed to deliver answers. The concept had promise, but the lack of payoff left me frustrated and wishing for… almost everything to be wrapped up.
This amazing book was a spine tingling, mind numbing, twisty domestic violence thriller that kept me up reading all night until I finished the last page! I received this advanced reader copy yesterday afternoon in return for my honest review and finished it late last night because I simply just couldn’t put it down! I devoured the characters and loved how the author slowly unwrapped each piece of the characters to reveal their true selves. It added depth and emotion and kept the twists coming. Every time I thought I knew where this book was headed, I was wrong and I loved it! The plot was great in that I had no idea where it was leading until the end. The first page caught me right away and I couldn’t put it down after that. The writing was sharp, dramatic and concise and I was hooked from the first few pages. And the ending was superb! I’m thinking there may be a book 2!! This was a 5 star read for me and I highly recommend that you grab a copy as soon as it is released on 10/28/25.
At her late husband's burial, Addy meets, and becomes enamored with, Heath. Though she is criticized for moving on so quickly, Addy knows a thing or two about relationships, and when it's right, it's right. Their whirlwind romance takes off faster than anyone expected, but it might be too good to be true. How much does Addy know about Heath's past? How much does Heath know about Addy's past? Is their chance encounter a love at first sight storybook storybook reality, or will the secrets of their past suffocate their new relationship before it truly begins?
This was a very fun and fast psychological thriller. It is a quick read with short cliff hanging chapters that make you want to keep reading. I love a book that makes me question the motives and reliability, and this book did exactly that. At no point was I able to pinpoint who the most villainous person was, and who I could trust at all. Packed with twists and turns, I found myself changing my assumptions every few pages. I do think that, while the overall book is engaging and well paced, I did feel like towards the end when the final reveal happened, it was a bit rushed and I would've liked a little bit more time to sit with the revealing layers of the final moments. However, if you are a fan of popcorn thrillers, you don't wanna miss this one!
Almost by Samara Cove Narrated by: Luke Welland, Mandy Grant-Grierson, Brian Pederson, Adrienne Fleming 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This is a very exciting and intense domestic/ psychological thriller!! There are so many twists and turns throughout! I was hooked from page one and couldn’t stop listening!!
What happens when you trade one bad relationship for another one? Addy wants love and a happy and safe relationship. She has a fast connection with Heath, but things don’t stay pleasant for very long.
This book is full of suspense, tense moments and lots of secrets!! Crazy surprises at the end too!
Samara Cove is a must read author for me! This book is very well written and kept me super engaged!

THE THRILLER YOU NEED: AN ADDICTIVE RIDE Samara Cove delivers a mind-numbing, spine-tingling domestic thriller that I couldn't put down. The writing is sharp, and the plot instantly hooks you, pulling you into a web of high-stakes secrets. I finished this book in one sitting because I needed to know the truth. The author expertly reveals character layers, feeding twist after twist until the superb, breathless ending. If you love a book that constantly keeps you guessing, this is it. ⚠️ Content Warnings (CWs) Please be aware this book contains intense themes including: Domestic abuse (physical, emotional, mental) Birth control tampering Locked in/held captive Forced pregnancy Adultery
I must admit I had a hard time not because the book wasn’t good, because it was really good, but because I could relate to so much of what was going on with Addison. I lived through an abusive relationship and so much of that life came back to me in vivid ways. Heath was a really messed up guy, but Robert and his wife wow! They really are out there. Loved the twist with second baby. I was literally screaming at the ending “NO!!!” Because I didn’t want it to end. I wanted to know what happened, if Addison found a way to keep her babies. Loved it!!.

Almost, by Samara Cove ! Wow, what a great book. The one character in this book the main character, her name is Addy , she seems to have gone through so much with her mom and dad when she was a child growing up all the turmoil and the abuse she watched in between the both of them. Then her first husband and the mother-in-law so much abuse this book has it all. This book has everything all the thrills. It was so captivating. It was full of twists, and so many turns and so much suspense. I really like this book. It was very intense all the way to the last page.
This is a story about Addison “Addy” and her tumultuous life with men. She meets Heath at her husband’s funeral. They get married but she has secrets that she’s not willing to let go of. Her former mother-in-law plays a pivotal role and their back and forth has me trying to guess on what’s really going on. Will Addy keep her secrets or will they be found out? This domestic thriller had me scratching my head and flipping pages to figure out what the true story was. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Omg this book had my jaw dropped at the end. Addy is married to Glen but when Glen suddenly dies she meets Heath at Glen's funeral. But as the relationship with Heath moves along not everything is as it seems. this is definitely a 5 star
Absolutely fantastic! I was gripped with Addys story from the very beginning. Samara has numerous twists in the book that will leave you with your mouth gaping open. The ending will leave you wanting more and wanting a second book. Check out this book you won’t regret it!
What?!?! Another fantastic book by Samara Cove! Once again, Samara did not disappoint. I was hooked from the very first page! Loved the multiple POVs. Definitely keeps you guessing. And the ending????? How could you leave us hanging? Highly recommend!!!
This was a fast read, short chapters. This book was so freaking good. The twist and turns just blew my mind. You must put this on your wishlist of book to be read. I can’t wait to jump into Samara Coves other books.
Why does this book have good reviews? It was like an even cheesier Freida McFadden type book. It had repetitive sentences/statements and just the stupidest plot line. I hate giving bad reviews like this but I can’t handle that there are so many good ones.
Couldn’t put this one down! Twisty, tense, and totally addictive. Heath gave me total ick vibes, and I wasn’t so sure Addy was as innocent as she seemed. The ending twist was chef’s kiss.
Samara Cove does it yet again! She gives you so many great twists and turns it will literally have you turning the pages so fast. The crazy thing about Samara is that she can really tie up the ending of a book or leave it for more! This book is definitely another one of hers that I’m going to need more! If you asked me who my favorite author is it is definitely Samara Cove!
This is the story of the ultimate betrayal, domestic violence and how she got out…..
The twists of this book are completely wicked and absolutely brilliant down to the very last chapter!
Almost is just one of her amazing books she will be releasing this year, so follow her on any social media platform so you won’t miss a great book!
“Almost” by Samara Cove is a suspenseful masterpiece. From the very first page, Samara Cove pulls you into a web of secrets, tension, and shocking twists that hit one after another. I was completely hooked, constantly on the edge of my seat, and second-guessing every character’s motive. Just when I thought I had things figured out, the story took another turn that left me speechless. I’ve read all of Samara Cove’s books, and Almost is hands down my favorite one yet. It’s smart, gripping, and full of jaw-dropping moments. If you love thrillers that keep you guessing until the very last page, this one is a must-read.
Another amazing read by Samara Cove! I couldn’t put this psychological thriller down, the twists were coming at me faster than a race car and I didn’t see them coming! The ending of this one will astound you and may just lead to another book, one can only hope! Fingers crossed! I was given an early copy of this book. I am leaving a review because I loved it!!
