The Egypt Code

Rate this book
The Orion Mystery, published in 1994, introduced the world to a highly original, and now internationally famous, star-correlation theory about the Giza pyramids in Egypt, and sent a huge shock wave of controversy throughout the scientific community, the effects of which are still felt today.

The Egypt Code not only develops this pyramid-stars correlation, but also reveals an amazing “Grand Unified Plan,” which involves the wonderful temple of Upper Egypt.

The Egypt Code is unlike any other book before it and covers the whole of Egypt’s ancient civilization in a manner never before attempted.

Much has been written as to how the Egyptians might have aligned their monuments with such high precision, but the question that has always remained unanswered is why—why did the ancients put so much emphasis on astronomical alignments? And what could be the function, practical or symbolic, behind these mysterious alignments?

Robert Bauval's work is a refreshing insight into the mind and culture of the Ancient Egyptians. His rigorous research shines light onto facets of the culture of the ancients that modern humanity can barely conceive. The Egyptians had no "religion" per se, but they had a fundamentally different understanding of their place in the order of the Cosmos (a concept they referred to as Ma'at).

Bauval is best known for his "Orion Correlation Theory," where he demonstrates that the Giza Pyramids were intentionally aligned to imitate the stars of the ever-famous Belt of Orion. In the "Egypt Code," Bauval presents convincing evidence that the Ancient Egyptian Pyramid builders intentionally aligned their monuments to celestial phenomena. This discovery comes only decades after the realiz

One highly significant event for the Egyptians was the heliacal rising (where the star rises just before the Sun) of the star Sirius - which they called Isis. This coincided with the annual flooding of the Nile, which brought renewed life to the land of Egypt in the form of "black earth" - the nutrient rich soil that allowed the Nile River valley to flourish.

Hard to read for the details and complicated information, but well worth the effort. I've read extensively on ancient Egyptian topics and still found a lot of new information in this book; in 1997, I was in Egypt and invited with others of our group to the home of Champion who was 96 then, since has passed away, but he allowed me to ask questions of him as a "Wisdom Keeper" and in the process told me that the temples and pyramids were aligned to the stars...I never forgot that or other things he spoke of that were maybe off the normal understanding of most people....I wanted to tell Robert Bauval of that remark as I realized his book was speaking of exactly that, except in much more complex terms and that speculation was provable of that and many other things I had wondered about with my own researching. I was taken aback to remember what Champion told me and there it was in this book; I was not sure if the comment from the old Egyptian could be added to the technical and scientific research in this book of visa versa, but it gave me a thrill to feel like, "I knew that already" even if for a moment. Thanks Mr. Bauval, I love your books a LOT and recommend them highly.

Bauval's work is based on sound observation and logic. It is obvious that astronomy and astrology were much more central to Egyptian thought and belief than Egyptologists believe. Furthermore, I am sure that some time in the future we will discover that Giza was sacred to some forgotten people long before the Pharaohs placed their pyramids there.

As can be expected from a serious scientific based book as this it was a tad dry to read and obviously not as easy as a novel. Having said that it was still surprisingly readable and enlightening. Mr Bauval as put this book together well and opened up some of the mysteries of ancient Egypt. Overall, an enjoyable, thought provoking and informative read.

The Egypt Code by Robert Bauval is a brilliant and thought-provoking book that left a profound impression on me. I first encountered Bauval’s work over a decade ago, and his ability to unveil the celestial connections of Egypt’s monuments continues to amaze me.

The Egypt Code provides an in-depth look into ancient Egypt's astronomical connections. Robert Bauval is an expert in engineering and astronomy and he applies both of these disciplines to his approach at shining new light on the culture, architecture and religious beliefs of this ancient society's mysterious past. Bauval is extremely thorough in his studies and the content of the book sometimes suffers from lengthy explanations but is otherwise very enlightening for anyone eager to learn more about the complicated details of Egypt's extraordinary ties to the heavens. If you're willing to endure some dry, research-oriented explanations then you'll enjoy all that Bauval has to offer.

I saw Bauval on a documentary discussing the possibility that aliens had something to do with the pyramids. I know . . . aliens. But the show was very well done and his comments contributed quite a bit, certainly enough to cause me to buy his book.

While at times tedious and somewhat difficult to follow, overall an interesting theory. (I say that because THEY may be reading this.)

An important book

This book is filled with fascinating ideas and data to show how the ancient Egyptians used processes and plans to orient their pyramids and temples to various celestial phenomena. I recommend this book to you.

He has a clear focus throughout the book and shares so much info that I started taking notes. Most books of this type seem to do a scattershot effect and hit everything but this book was carefully put together and shared only info that was related.
