This short story was an excellent mixture of sweet and spicy. It's a quick and easy read with almost no angst, perfect when you want a high smut/plot ratio (the plot is virtually non-existent, this is 100% meant to be a steamy snack).

Fast burn and spicy, there are MF and MFM scenes, including beta knotting (make it fit for the win!), gaping, and bye-bye butt V. Both males have voracious appetites and naughty tongues.

Another great addition to the Coveted Prey series! While this ends in a HEA, I would love more from these characters in the future.

Short and Spicy just how I like them 😉

Another short story in the coveted prey world that was delicious 🤤 this book is high spice with some plot but with how short the story is you didn’t need a lot of plot but what you do have it’s sooooo good.

I started this book and couldn’t put it down until I finished. It gave me all the feels and is just such a lovely story between the 3 characters. As this is from a shared world you have met the characters previously and to see them get a HEA is amazing 🖤

This is a book I will happily read over and over again.

This fantasy romance novella was one of my least favorite relationship setups ever, but it managed to be deliciously spicy and I mostly enjoyed it despite that stumbling block. Not my favorite in this series, but other readers will probably enjoy it a ton. The writing quality makes it four stars, and my personal preferences and tastes make it three stars. I will rate this one 3.5.

I'm not a fan of reverse harem/why choose (just a preference, not condemning the trope) but this book seemed interesting to me.

While it did not convert me to this trope, I still found it very sweet and interesting. It was a quick and spicy story. I did like all the characters and thought their dynamic was sweet.

REVIEW:

This is one of the shorter ones in the series. I enjoyed it, but I didn't feel a depth of love between Frederick and Clara. Mostly it just felt like lust to me. There simply wasn't enough page time to build up their relationship.

The steam was hot and I loved the best friends sharing aspect. I also loved the watching each other during sex. Lots of great steam.

But I definitely wouldn't have minded a slightly longer book that showed them growing in love, rather than just keeping Frederick around for his knot. It just felt like it was all about the sex for them.

Series-connection-wise, we first met Frederick in Rebecca and Grimm's book. And Clara is Rebecca and Rosalind's sister.

Overall it was entertaining and sexy. Loved that it's an MFM with best friends sharing. But I didn't feel much in the way of relationship development.

HEA for Frederick

I asked for Frederick's Happily Ever After after Rebecca's book. Frederick spent a year searching for Rebecca and offered her safety in a world of danger.

Rebecca already belonged to Grimm.

Now we finally get Frederick's mate in a place he never expected, with his best friend and Clara. Clara is Rebecca's sister and Alex's wife.

This is a novella but doesn't skimp on the heat. Although I got my sister's crossed and wondered if Frederick was a Griffin shifter. Oops, turns out I was thinking sister Violet's book.

Even without Griffin, it was a great little read. Always nice to revisit that character you kept hoping got a happy ending.

While we got more play between Alex and Clara alone than I thought we needed, some readers need a strong base in married poly. The concept of sharing vs stealing/infidelity is a strict line. So the author did a great job bridging over those concerns by putting the male characters firmly in agreement and control.The female character doesn't seduce or cuckold as she's not controlling the action.

The epilogue does a great job closing out the story.

So I asked for an Orc and the author provided. I asked for Frederick's hea and here it is. What could any reader beg for next? Violet and the Griffin and maybe bears. This bed is too hard, this pillow is too soft, but this blanket is just right. There is also a princess from a few books back that is set to marry the King of the Barbarian clans? Looking forward to that one, hoping she leads him a merry chase.

This story is 100 pages of a smutty little story with a spot of angst and an original plot, especially for this series. I love that there are so many varied books in this series because each one explains more about the world the books are set in but they capture different dynamics in relationships and characters. Plus, call me weird, but I love reading about other dynamics in an omegaverse.

Well written and incredibly hot. I always find it interesting how Lane can write an easy to read story with great dialogue that’s also appropriate for a high fantasy medieval society. As always there’s a wealth of character development and interesting plot folded into a plethora of smut. It’s perfect.

I usually don't like short stories very much. I just feel like something is usually missing in the stories. This one I loved. It felt like a complete story even though it was short. Do I wish it was longer? Hell yeah I do! I would have loved to read more about Alex, Frederick, and Clara. Those three were amazing together! I loved everything about their relationship. How it all started with Alex. Because he was dying to see his wife with his bestfriend. How Clara was drawn to Frederick even though she loved her husband and tried to deny/hide it from him. I especially loved how Frederick coveted Clara for awhile but tried to push it away because of his friendship with Alex. I loved how Frederick thought he could just be with his friends because he thought they were having a passing fancy of having him join them for a night or two. Then his alpha instincts kicked in and said "MINE"! I absolutely loved everything about this story.

Short & spicy MFM. Alternating POV bw three MCs. As other reviews have mentioned, it's really the husband MMC (beta) who jumpstarts the sharing as the wife FMC (beta) is too demure (a word that gets used repeatedly, lol) to voice her newfound desires. In fact, all three MCs independently realize that they want a MFM (no MM) relationship. Cue awkward dancing around until husband takes initiative.

TW: Kinda cheating Prior to any "Let's share" discussions, husband intentionally leaves aroused & disheveled FMC in living room with alpha. Cue attempt to help her tidy up her clothing becoming heaving petting. Then the husband returns and initiates said discussion., knotting w/o full preparation Event told from POV of alpha, who described FMC as squirming, but blissed out. However, a few paragraphs before he'd promised her they'd go slow, so this struck me as wrong., possible pheromones.

Miss Lane brings this Coveted Prey short story to light with a madrid cast of characters. Starting off with Fredrick, his friend Alex, and Alex’s wife coveted beta Clara. Frederick is a strapping Alpha who has not found his soulmate yet. But maybe his attraction to Alex’s wife can be the stop gap that helps them both. For Clara had that Beta perfume that sets both men to heights of physical sensations. Clara is sent to heights of sexual frustration between the two men.
Fredrick is Alpha that is sent to be the perfect third for Alex and Clara, much to Alex and Clara’s chagrin. Physical attraction between Fredrick and Clara is forbidden at first. Alex is attracted to Fredrick as well. In time, the three of them make a perfect menage a troi. Only Miss Lane could put all this together. Perfect short story for the rest of the Coveted Series!

‘The Coveted Beta’ wasn’t a book for me, hence the low rating, but I can’t fault it for what it is. It was well written and exactly what is said in the blurb - short and spicy. There is the making of a small plot which had hints of being/becoming interesting due to the introduction of an alpha into a beta/beta marriage and shared desires between close friends but the spicy scenes are the focus.

Short and smutty mfm novella. Have been a little turned off lately by the idea of a man sharing his woman, so it's a little surprising I turned to this, but I think I just don't like it when it's an open relationship and he's sharing her with random people (and one time maybe, but not when it's a regular part of their relationship). I know a lot of people love that; it's just not my thing. Here, it's closed and they all get an HEA together. I also have realized I'm not the biggest fan of voyeurism, but I, again, was okay with it here because although the husband got turned on by watching his best friend and wife together, he finished inside his wife after. Normally, I'm just like wouldn't you rather be inside your girl instead of jacking off yourself? But those two things are just personal preferences and thankfully they both worked here for me.

A delightfully delicious read!
I found this one to be wonderfully written: it pulled me smoothly into the author's Omegaverse world. One peopled with 3 characters I loved, was invested in & cared about. All 3 were loving & caring, who found so much more during a visit from an old family friend.
And this one was different (to me) in a unique way: 1 Alpha & 2 Betas, no Omega.
I loved how loving & accepting the characters were, yet the Alpha was very 'Alpha'.
A beautifully done tale of love wonderfully written with scorching scenes that sizzle off the page!.
Absolutely heartwarming in the best way.

A wonderful short novella set in the Coveted Prey world. 

An Alpha comes to visit his happily married best friend and his Beta wife. 
They have seen each other many times, and the Alpha was always appreciative of the curvy beta wife. But this time his best friend has been having fantasies of watching the wife with the Alpha. 

What follows is a life changing weekend as they fall into their rolls and form a pack. 

L.V. Lane never disappoints with her writing. You do not need to ready the Coveted Prey series to enjoy this book but it put some perspective of the past referenced as the past history in the story. 
I highly recommend this as a wonderful short read!

Steamy and sweet

I loved this book! It was short, sweet, and oh so steamy. It was a quick read with an adorable and insatiable beta Fmc and two wonderful males, one an alpha and the other the fmc's beta husband. The males have been best friends since childhood. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the males both cared for the Fmc and how she cared for them as well. I would have loved this book to be longer, show more development between the three. However I loved it as a lovely, sinful quick read that I read in one sitting. I know for sure that this is one I will read more than once especially when I need a breather and reset between darker and heavier reads.

Alex and Clara are a married beta couple with hidden desires. When Frederick, an alpha and Alex’s best friend, comes to visit they push the lines of friendship.

Frederick is enraptured of what Alex and Clara have. He desires Clara and with his alpha pheromones he sends Alex and Clara into a heightened state. Alex wishes to see his best friend take his tiny wife and make her happy with pleasure.

This was a quick steamy read with alpha knots and a breeding wish. Just what I needed for a rainy Saturday afternoon.

L.V. Lane is one of my favorite authors. She can be very deep in stories of the woes of being an Omega to this story, its okay to be a beta. This book was a little on the fluff, with a side of passion she turns up. Its not just ok that Fredrick also is open to the new life with a good friend from their childhood to sharing to make all three happy. A good book. Easy to read and hot.

Great short read

I belong to the Facebook group Breeder Readers. I have read almost all of L.V. Lane's books and love them all. This author tends RH romances. I love all things breeding! Sometimes you just need a short read. Sometimes I just like a plan M-F romances, but RH is great. I love how the book was is in 3 different POVs. I can't wait to read the next book. I love all things dark and taboo so this was great having a more taboo relationship between the main characters.

This was the perfect short and spicy treat.
It was a quick and easy read. There were moments of laughter, love, and no shortage of delicious steam!!
I loved Alex and Clara together. Their love and passion was evident and beautiful. When, Frederick is added to the mix...that was the cherry on top!!
