A Holly Brown Christmas

Rate this book
The holidays are Holly Brown’s favorite time of year. There’s nothing she loves more than the fun, festivities and the company Christmas party . . . namely because it means she gets to spend time with Lucas Brooks—her coworker and her boss’s son. When she learns that the party is getting canceled thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Brooks’ impending divorce, Holly takes it upon herself to save the party. And if she just so happens to bring her boss and his wife back together in the process, that’s just more cause for celebration. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s the perfect opportunity to work one-on-one with Lucas.

Getting into the holiday spirit is the last thing Lucas wants to do. With his parents dragging him into their divorce drama, he’s just not feeling all that festive. But that’s not exactly anything new. For Lucas, the holidays just meant less work. He never got what all the fuss was about, especially when his family cared more about appearances than spending time together. When a friend suggests he take over planning the company Christmas party from his parents, he’s less than thrilled by the idea. Then Holly shows up with all her holiday cheer, and he finds it hard to say no. Or not be affected by her effusive joy.

With Holly’s help, Lucas realizes there’s more to Christmas than a perfectly decorated house that’s all glitz and no heart. And that the true meaning of Christmas isn’t gifts and perfection—it’s about hope, togetherness, and the quiet joy that can light up even the saddest little pine.

4⭐
Genre ~ contemporary, holiday romance
Setting ~ not entirely sure, but I want to say Texas
Publication date ~ November 4, 2025
Publisher ~ Dreamscape Media
Est Page Count ~ 289 (20 chapters)
Audio length ~ 6 hours 37 minutes
Narrator ~ Sarah Welborn
POV ~ dual 3rd
Featuring ~ workplace romance, kinda insta-ish, no 3rd act breakup, fade to black, no steamage

Holly & Lucas work at the same firm, in different departments, and he is her boss's son. She's always harbored a crush on him, so she's thrilled when she convinces him to host the annual Christmas party this year at his parents mansion. He's less than thrilled, but her over the top enthusiasm soon has him on board.

You can't help but feel a little sad for how Lucas is used to spending the holiday's ~ without much fun or love. It was nice to see Holly show him what being with family is all about ~ less materialistic and more about being together.

There's low drama, except a little with Lucas's parents. I'm always happy with there's no 3rd act breakup. Also, there's an adorable dog named Shmoop, that looks exactly like Snoopy, that deserves a shout out.

Overall, it was cute and will get you in the holiday spirit.

Cover notes:
While it absolutely gives off Christmas vibes, and Shmoop looks exactly like I'd pictured, Holly looks very young. I'm almost getting middle grade vibes.

Narration notes:
Alright so you know what I am going to say ~ I want a male narrator when it's dual whether it's 1st or 3rd person. However, I actually enjoyed her male voice more than her female voice. While she was properly enthusiastic I just didn't like her tone for Holly at all, which sounds somewhat childish.

This was delightful! A fun, feel-good read that had me smiling from start to finish.

I read a novella by Samantha Chase over the summer and really enjoyed it, so I’d been looking forward to trying a full-length novel from her. When I saw this pop up on NetGalley, I grabbed it immediately—and I’m so glad I did.

Honestly, I don’t even have a long list of notes because this was just one of those stories you simply enjoy. Every word, every moment, every scene—it all landed, and I didn’t want it to end. I loved the combo of tropes and plot devices woven throughout; they worked beautifully. There were several scenes that reminded me of moments from different movies—some Hallmark-esque, some not—and those little nods made me smile and enjoy it even more.

The romance itself was so charming, and I was rooting for this couple the whole way. His character in particular? A walking green flag, and I adored that for us.

The audiobook was narrated by Sarah Welborn, who did a wonderful job. Her voice fit the FMC perfectly, and she handled the male voice smoothly. She didn’t overdo it—just shifted enough to differentiate without breaking the flow. I did notice she over-enunciated certain words at first, which pulled me out slightly—especially with how often the word important was used—but once I realized it was a character choice and not a narrator quirk, it made sense. Worth noting: she didn’t do it when voicing the MMC, which confirmed it for me.

All in all, this was an endearing, heartwarming romance that’s perfect for cozy holiday reading and guaranteed to leave you smiling at the end.

I was fortunate to receive a complimentary ALC from Dreamscape Select via NetGalley, which gave me the opportunity to share my voluntary thoughts.

How I Rate
Because I mostly read ARCs, I focus on how I think fellow readers with similar tastes will respond. I sometimes round up or down based on pacing, prose, or overall impact, and I try to keep my personal preferences from weighing too heavily.

⭐️ 1 Star – Finished, but not for me as it has way too many issues; I never DNF ARCs but would have had it not been one.
⭐️⭐️ 2 Stars – Struggled due to writing, content, or editing issues.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 Stars – Decent read with untapped potential; recommend with some reservations.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars – Really enjoyed it and would recommend for several reasons.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Exceptional; lingers in my mind well after reading. A story I’d gladly revisit.

Christmas is Holly’s favorite time of year and she’s always loved the party boss’s family throws every year, but this year the party has been cancelled because of her boss’s impending divorce. Unable to let the holidays go by without a big celebration, Holly teams up with Lucas, her boss’s son, to hold the party anyway. Spending time with him planning the party has Holly falling for Lucas even more than she had already been. Will they be able to pull off the holiday celebration and maybe find love along the way?

I liked the idea behind this story and the holiday vibes, but I didn’t connect with it the way I hoped. I usually love Samantha Chases’s romances, but this fell short for me. I didn’t really like either of the characters which made it hard to be invested in their story. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I hate to say it, but the narration didn’t do it for me. Holly came off as childish and immature and the voice used for her drove me crazy. I don’t know how much of the childishness was from the writing stand point or the narration stand point, but it didn’t do it for me. With that all being said, it was a cute holiday romance and very easy to get through. Just because it didn’t hit the mark for me doesn’t mean it won’t do it for you though.

SOOOOO CUTE!!!!

This story was short, but oh so cute and festive! Holly is tasked with putting together the work holiday party in the absence of Lucas’s parents and their potential falling out. Through this ordeal, they connect in ways they didn’t expect. Can Holly save the day and his parent’s relationship?

Again, this story was charmingly cute and heartwarming. It’s a closed door romance so its focus is on the story and the festivities. Characters are real and well fleshed out. Storyline was cohesive and flowed well. It starts slow, but quickly picks up. There is even adorable Snoopy-like dog. Yes, I’ve seen this book based on Charlie Brown Christmas and I didn’t really get that until I saw the reviews. Even so, this book is good on its own.

The emotional impact….
This book evoked that child-like nostalgia that we all have as adults when we think of Christmas at kids. Putting up decorations and the tree. Family meals and traditions. And holiday cheer and fun. It reminds us why we hold on to those traditions as adults…bc it makes us remember the wonder we felt as kids at Christmas time.

I listened to the audiobook. Audio clarity is good. I had no issues. Narrrator was good but Holly’s voice at times was a bit to child-like.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape

✨️ARC REVIEW✨️

"But the reality was that he had everything he wanted already, and it had nothing to do with material things. He had Holly Brown. And that was better than anything Santa could swing down the chimney."

Thank you to The Author Agency for this extremely delightful arc opportunity! 🫶🏻 I gobbled it up like it was a Christmas cookie! 🍪

While I was reading this, it was giving total classic Christmas rom-com movie vibes. The kind that makes you giggle, grin, and finish with that warm, fuzzy feeling inside.🤭

Holly was such a fun character. The ultimate Christmas superhero! She’s bubbly, a little chaotic, and that mind of hers was so determined. I loved her energy.🤩

Lucas wasn’t winning me over at first, but watching him go from the 'all business' guy who thought Christmas was pointless to someone who actually gets it was quite fantastic.🙌🏻

Overall - A heartwarming cozy romance that will be the perfect addition to your holiday reading lineup! It will leave you smiling long after you close the book. 🥰

P.S. Shout out to Shmoop! We love a cute doggo that steals the show! 🐶

Spice: 🌶️

Lucas had his world turned upside down when his parents announce to the entire company that they were getting divorced and the Christmas party was cancelled via email.
Holly is their assistant with a photographic memory, who remembers every little detail of the last 5 parties they have held. Holly and Lucas decide to throw the holiday party for the employees and to bring Lucas’ parents back together.
The more time Lucas and Holly spend together muddling through how to throw the epic holiday party, the more feelings grow between the 2 of them.
Despite the time crunch and many hurdles, the Holiday party goes off without a hitch, except Lucas’ parents arguing in front of everyone! 🫣 Landing them locked in a room to figure things out.
I love Samantha Chase’s romance books! Just like her others, this book has struggles to be overcome, and growth for each character to do. I just love a book that makes you smile through the entire epilogue and do a giddy dance when the happily ever after

Holly lives and breathes the holidays - she loves Christmas and looks forward to her company’s party yearly. Not only that but the bosses son is a crush!

When things seem to be going south between the boss and his wife, the party is threatened to be cancelled. Holly just can’t have that and decides to put it on herself - with a little help from Lucas (the Christmas grump).

Can Holly bring everyone back together - to show them Christmas isn’t all about material things? This was a cute holiday read and it has a dog in it - who doesn’t love that! This was my first book by this author and it was enjoyable…easy to get through and will definitely have you smiling throughout the pages. Thank you to the author @samanthachaseromance and @theauthor.agency for the early read! All opinions are my own

A fun holiday read to get you ready for the season. Holly is all about Christmas, her highlight is the party thrown by her boss’s family. But this year there will be no large celebration as the boss is getting a divorce.

She takes on the party herself with some help. I love her infectious spirt and wanting everyone to be together. She also reminds us that Christmas about people and togetherness, not things.

My favorite character is Shmoop! He is the pooch who will steal your heart, as well as the book.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Holly personifies Christmas. Lucas was not in the Christmas spirit at all. His father sends out a company wide email about him and Lucas’s mom impending divorce that came out of nowhere right before the company holiday party. A party that everyone looks forward to. Holly takes it upon herself to convince Lucas to still hold the party since she had help his mom with the previous ones and to hopefully get his parents to talk sense in each other. With the magic of Christmas and Holly things get turned around with happy endings.

The story itself is cute, lighthearted and full of cozy holiday charm, but I unfortunately struggled to stay engaged. The narrator’s voice was extremely bubbly and peppy throughout the entire audiobook, and it made the listening experience difficult for me personally.

Even so, the plot has sweet moments and a festive tone that many listeners may enjoy, this one just wasn’t the right fit for me!

Schmoop really stole the show guys.

A Holly Brown Christmas is a witty, chaotic holiday rom-com about Holly Brown, an overzealous office organizer who decides to save Christmas — and maybe her crush Lucas Brooks’s broken family — after their company party gets canceled due to his parents’ dramatic divorce. With her loyal, emotionally gifted dog Schmoop by her side, Holly launches a full-scale festive intervention, determined to restore joy to Lucas’s life and maybe win his heart. What follows is a cozy, slow-burn romance full of humor, heart, and holiday chaos, blending office comedy with emotional healing. A Holly Brown Christmas is a charming story about optimism, connection, and choosing joy amid the chaos surrounding Lucas's Christmas.

As an avid reader of Samantha's books I will say I feel this one is different from her other stories. That's not a bad thing. Just different. This book was more peppy and the romance developed fast. My only negative is that I don't feel like I got invested in the characters. I didn't feel a huge connection with them. Still a fun, cheerful get in the spirit Holiday read.

When Holly volunteers to assist Lucas in putting together the company's Christmas party, Lucas is thrilled. He doesn't want to go ahead with the party anyway, considering his parents' impending divorce but Holly brings about a ray of sunshine and Lucas finds he can't help but get into the holiday spirit with her around.

This was quite a sweet romance, if not a little cheesy at times, which is absolutely acceptable for a holiday read! I loved how happy Holly always was and the way she managed to get Lucas into a happy mood too was a credit to her. If you're after a fun and short romance, look no further.

You know that one coworker who treats the office potluck like it’s the Met Gala? That’s Holly Brown. And in A Holly Brown Christmas, she does not come to play. She comes to SAVE CHRISTMAS... with spreadsheets, peppermint trauma therapy, a suspiciously detailed crush on her boss’s son, and a ride-or-die dog named Schmoop who might actually be a retired therapist in disguise.

Now let’s set the scene: Holly’s been pining after Lucas Brooks since approximately her onboarding paperwork, and the company Christmas party is her annual excuse to make polite eye contact and spiral about it later. But this year? Cancelled. Because Lucas’s parents are blowing up their marriage like it’s a gender reveal party for emotional dysfunction. There are yachts. There is globe-trotting philandering. There are emails. Holly, in a bold display of red-sweatered optimism, decides this will not stand. She’s gonna plan the party herself, fix their marriage, and maybe also wedge herself into Lucas’s heart like a candy cane in a venti cup holder.

Lucas, meanwhile, is in full adult-child-of-divorce mode. He’s getting dragged into every passive-aggressive text, every real estate squabble, every 2 a.m. phone call where his mother cries over a lack of foie gras. He does not care about the party. He does not care about the holidays. He just wants to finish his legal briefs and emotionally disassociate in peace. But then Holly shows up like a human glitter bomb and Schmoop climbs into his lap, and suddenly he’s co-planning Christmas and emotionally unthawing like a sad little microwave burrito.

And y’all. Let’s talk Schmoop. This dog is a scene-stealing, emotionally intuitive, holiday-certified agent of chaos. He doesn’t bark. He curates moments. Every time Lucas tries to close himself off like a seasonal Scrooge, Schmoop lays a paw on his leg like “no sir, we are feeling things today.” He is the emotional support animal we all deserve, and honestly, if I had Schmoop in my life, I’d probably have kids and be thriving by now.

The vibe of this book is holiday rom-com meets corporate hostage situation with a sprinkle of “can a holiday party fix a deeply broken marriage?” Like, Holly legitimately believes that if she puts enough garland on a banister, Lucas’s parents will remember why they got married. Babe. No amount of carolers can fix generational trauma and a secret boyfriend in Ibiza. But she tries. And that’s what makes her our hero.

The romance is cozy. Mostly closed-door. Flirty, but not HR-approved, in a slightly repressed way where every brush of the hand feels like a Victorian scandal. Lucas is not a traditional grump, he’s just emotionally stunted from being weaponized by his parents. Watching him go from “Christmas is meaningless” to “maybe joy isn’t a personal attack” is weirdly moving. And Holly? Holly is out here running emotional marathons in high heels, trying to force a holiday miracle while casually falling in love with the human equivalent of a beige throw pillow. Girl, I’ve been there.

Does the plot require some suspension of disbelief? Yes. Did I still tear up when Lucas finally let himself be vulnerable? Also yes. It’s about joy. It’s about the stubborn, sparkly determination to choose connection even when everyone around you is crumbling like a stale sugar cookie. It’s about a woman who weaponizes the holiday spirit like a candy-cane-wielding general and drags her office crush into emotional health kicking and screaming.

I knocked off half a star for some juvenile writing moments and the fact that Lucas’s parents are somehow the most fleshed-out characters despite being comically toxic. Like sir, you want your son to help you buy a yacht mid-divorce? What is this, Succession: Christmas Edition? But I digress.

3.5 stars of festive madness, emotional sabotage, and accidental therapy sessions delivered by a mystery dog in a snowflake sweater. Read it for the chaos, stay for the pup.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for letting me devour this story in audiobook form before it hit the shelves. Sarah Welborn does not just narrate Holly Brown. She becomes her. That voice has “I made personalized Christmas cards for my coworkers and cry during Folgers commercials” energy, and it works. She leans hard into the bubbly charm without making Holly sound unhinged, which is a tightrope walk considering the amount of festive emotional manipulation going on here. I laughed. I cringed.

Samantha Chase has done it again! I loved A Holly Brown Christmas, a standalone book! I was hooked from the first few pages, and it was impossible to put it down. A Holly Brown Christmas had my interest from the start, and I fell in love. I loved every moment on every page. Samantha Chase continues to deliver the incredibly written love stories that I LOVE to read and is a must-read author for me. Samantha Chase does not disappoint her readers with all the feels in A Holly Brown Christmas and has once again delivered an amazing story filled with everything that I have come to love about and expect from her books. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, big loving families, and caring friends, who always support each other? A Holly Brown Christmas is a holiday workplace romance love story between Holly Brown, head of the payroll department and Lucas Brooks, head of the legal department. Holly and Lucas both work for Brooks Management, a risk management firm, which is owned by Lucas’s parents. Lucas’s parents, Camille, and Spencer have decided to separate, and Spencer sent out a companywide email stating that they will not be hosting the company’s annual Christmas party. Neither one of his parents is planning to return home until after the new year. Lucas’s friend, Lennon Van Horn, encourages Lucas work with Holly on the holiday party since she and his mother planned the party over the past few years. Holly and Lucas face many setbacks since they are planning the party later in the year than his mother usually did. Conversation between Holly and Lucas flow easily with innuendos and playful banter. As Holly and Lucas spend time together planning the holiday party things change between them. I especially love the ladder incident and the office Christmas tree, which becomes Lucas’s Christmas tree. Each of them was looking forward to seeing the other at the annual holiday party. I love all the things that Holly and Lucas do together as they plan the party and get to know one another, especially all the firsts for Lucas. Lucas spends Thanksgiving with Holly’s family and embraces her family traditions. I love Holly’s miniature sheepadoodle, Shmoop. I love the heart-to-heart conversations that take place in A Holly Brown Christmas. I love the changes that Lucas and Holly are willing to make to have a life together. Lucas decides to invite both of his parents to the holiday party. A plot twist changes things between them. The epilogue that takes place one year later is the perfect ending of their love story, especially Lucas’s proposal and how he includes Shmoop in his proposal. I love all the changes that Lucas and Holly make in their lives to have a future with one another. I love that by inviting Camille and Spencer to the holiday party, they were able to talk and reunite. A Holly Brown Christmas was an amazing love story; I am so glad that Lucas and Holly got the happily ever after. I love all the surprises that filled the pages of this love story. Samantha Chase always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. She continues to deliver all that and so much more. I am not sure how she does it, but she has once again given her readers another remarkable book. A Holly Brown Christmas is filled with all the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments, plot twists, and surprises that I have come to love and expect in a Samantha Chase love story, I especially loved the poignant and bittersweet moments, the plot twists and surprises that filled this page turner. I love how A Holly Brown Christmas is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting inside their minds and knowing their thoughts and how they really feel. I love all the characters in this A Holly Brown Christmas, especially Lucas ’s siblings and their families. It feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? I love the short story, Exes and Snow that was included at the end of A Holly Brown Christmas, I loved the short story. Highly recommend this holiday workplace romance love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.

I received a free copy of the audiobook for this publication for the purpose of review.

Holly Brown loves Christmas, but this year looks to be lacking after her office's holiday party is cancelled because of her boss's pending divorce. This won't stand if Holly has her way since the holiday party is her chance to spend time with her crush, Lucas, who just so happens to be the boss's son.

This was a very easy and short listen. There's no relationship drama between Holly and Lucas and the plot moves forward at a nice clip. Even if you listen at 1x speed the audiobook is only 6.5 hours long so it can be a cozy weekend read if you want something Christmas themed with no fuss or muss. I think this will appeal to people who want something light to relax with for sure. This is also closed-door, so for readers looking for something less spicy this will certainly appeal.

I wasn't personally a big fan of the narration, but I think it was a combination of problems. The writing comes off as unfortunately juvenile, which the overeager and bright narration style only exacerbates. It makes the book feel more like middle-grade writing. I tried to look at more of the narrator's work and it looks like she's done a lot of non fiction and historical fiction, so this could be a one-off from the writing style. There's a part early on where Holly says that something "gives her tingles in her lady parts," so I had a good idea of what to expect from the rest.

I don't recall exact ages ever being given for Holly and Lucas, but Holly is the head of the payroll department and Lucas is a lawyer at this company. Given their roles in the company they both have to be at least in their late 20's, likely older, but they both read as high schoolers. Holly is pushy, nosey, and she very quickly inserts herself into her boss's divorce assuming he and his wife would be happy if they just keep hosting these holiday parties. Holly's boss and his wife also read as terrible and unrelatable. In the midst of their new divorce proceedings they're hounding their son, pulling him into their dispute, as well as philandering with other people all across the world. The husband asks his son to help him close the deal on a yacht so he can enter a yacht competition and I've never felt so disconnected from a person while reading a book. Unfortunately Holly's boss and his wife feel like the two most fleshed out characters in the book. Lucas is very milquetoast. Aside from being described as attractive I don't feel like I knew anything about him. The same could be said for Holly, though to a slightly lesser degree. She has a self-described photographic memory that she uses in an early scene in the book to describe in vivid detail what Lucas was wearing at every single holiday party she's attended since they started working together. I'd be immediately creeped out if someone did that to me, especially someone who is basically just a work acquaintance who now wants to insert herself into my parents divorce.

I really wanted to like this book. I love the cover art, the description sounded very cute and cozy, but it just didn't hit for me. This was my first experience with the author and while reading up for my review I saw that she had a book made into a Hallmark movie. This definitely had that vibe so it's likely that fans of that type of work will find this to be the cheerful holiday romp it's meant to be, but it unfortunately it was not to my taste. Regardless, I very much appreciate the opportunity to listen to an advanced copy for review.

🎧 Advanced Audiobook Review: A Holly Brown Christmas by Samantha Chase
⭐️ 3.5 out of 5 stars | Tropes: workplace romance, holiday fixer, found family, emotional healing | Clean romance

This book is Hallmark-core in the best way. If you’re looking for something light, sweet, and emotionally gentle to read with friends or just to reset after a heavy book A Holly Brown Christmas is a solid pick.

Holly Brown is the kind of heroine who refuses to let a canceled office Christmas party ruin the season. She’s determined, relentlessly cheerful, and absolutely convinced that love and joy can fix anything. That energy is both her superpower and her flaw. I admired her perseverance and her refusal to give up, but I also found her a little overbearing especially when she started inserting herself into other people’s relationships. Holly means well, but her lack of boundaries made me cringe more than once.

Lucas Brooks, her love interest, is dealing with the emotional fallout of his parents’ divorce. He’s guarded, skeptical, and not exactly thrilled about Holly’s nonstop optimism. But what I appreciated most was how Holly didn’t just change Lucas she shifted the entire dynamic of his family. Through her persistence and warmth, she helped them see each other differently, reconnect, and start healing. It wasn’t dramatic, but it felt earned.

The plot itself is low-stakes and predictable, which honestly worked for me. Sometimes you just want a story where the biggest problem is whether the Christmas party will happen. The audiobook narration by Sarah Welborn is smooth and easy to follow perfect for a cozy weekend listen.

Also, shoutout to the moment Holly describes the dog as looking like Snoopy. That visual was chef’s kiss simple, perfect, and exactly the kind of detail that makes a scene stick.

🎄 Final thoughts: This is a clean romance , just emotional connection and holiday vibes. Holly might be too much for some readers, but if you’re in the mood for something sweet, safe, and full of heart, this one delivers..

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review all opinions are my own

"A Holly Brown Christmas"
by Samantha Chase
Narrated by Sarah Welborn

The holidays have always held a special place in Holly Brown’s heart; they are her favourite time of year. From the twinkling lights to the warmth of family gatherings, there’s nothing she cherishes more than the joy, celebrations, and particularly the much-anticipated company Christmas party. This story unfolds as a delightful and uplifting listen, filled with charming moments that brought a smile to my face from start to finish. It captures the essence of the season beautifully, focusing on the enchanting story and festive spirit, as it is a closed-door romance.

Holly finds herself head over heels for Lucas, the handsome son of her boss. However, Lucas remains blissfully unaware of her feelings, immersed in his own world. The situation takes a turn when his parents abruptly cancel their annual Christmas party due to their impending divorce. Holly, determined to keep the holiday spirit alive, seizes the opportunity to convince Lucas to host the event at his family’s opulent mansion. Although Lucas initially expresses reluctance and apprehension about taking on the responsibility, Holly’s infectious enthusiasm and creative ideas quickly win him over, reminding him of the joy that comes with holiday celebrations.

Sarah Welborn, the narrator, brings the characters vividly to life with her engaging performance. Her voice resonates perfectly with Holly’s personality, capturing her excitement and charm, while she skillfully handles the male voices, adding depth and dimension to the overall experience.

This heartwarming cozy romance is a delightful addition to your holiday reading list. Set against a backdrop of festive cheer, it beautifully weaves together themes of love, resilience, and personal growth. I absolutely love Samantha Chase’s romance novels! In this book, as with her other works, the characters face significant challenges that test their relationships and character. Their journeys of overcoming these obstacles are both touching and relatable, offering readers a deeper understanding of love and the importance of growth in both oneself and with others.

There’s a reason why Samantha Chase is one of my favorites - and if you pick up a copy of any one of her books, particularly this one, you can feel her heart in every word. She pours her soul into each book she writes! I missed out on an opportunity to read the ebook this time around (I’m on her team, but I was away), so being able to get the audio copy was extremely lucky.

I absolutely adored the sunshiny Holly, with her unrequited crush on her coworker and Mr. Grumpy Pants (the boss’s son) Lucas. She gets a perfect opportunity to spend a lot of time with him when he decides that he’s going to throw the company holiday party after his parents decide to cancel it - that decision is a whole other story (a huge part of the plot, but you have to read to get that entire drama). This time spent together is precious and precisely what not just Holly and Lucas needs, but literally everyone around them is better for it - it’s a perfect Christmas story about a Christmas party, and so much more (I just wish her experiment about adding a little more spice had continued to this book… it’s closed door again).

It was perfectly done as a solo narrator! She did a great job differentiating her voice so you knew whether it was Holly or Lucas’s chapter. I normally don’t like a single narrator for dual points of view, but Sarah Welborn made it work very well. I haven’t seen her name come up before, but I quite enjoyed listening to her performance of this story.

I definitely highly recommend A Holly Brown Christmas (truly, every single Samantha Chase book) - it’s a perfect read to get you in the holiday spirit this season!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advance listen copy - this is my honest feedback.

This book is cute. The main character, Holly, does get a tad bit annoying at times and she comes across as incredibly naive but she's still a very cute lovable character for the most part. This story is sort of like a step up from a Hallmark movie Christmas book. It's not a steamy story but compared to Hallmark I guess it is! It goes a little bit further than one kiss at the very end.
Holly Brown loves the holidays. She loves nothing more than the vibes of the season and the company party, where she gets to spend time with her co-worker, the boss's son, Lucas Brooks. This year, however, she learns that the party is off since the boss's are heading for a divorce. Holly decides that she is going to take the party into her own hands and make it the best one yet. Who knows? She may even be able to bring the boss' back together and spend some quality time with Lucas along the way. Lucas isn't feeling the spirit this year at all. The last thing he cares about is the holiday party. He's being dragged into his parents divorce and the holidays really only ever meant a little less work. His family has always cared more about appearances than actual quality time together. So, when a friend suggests he take over the holiday party planning he's less than thrilled. That is, until Holly shows up with all her (almost) over the top holiday cheer. He finds it hard to say no so together they start planning. With the help of Holly, Lucas may just learn that Christmas is more than glitz and glam and appearances.
This is a cute story. There are times when Holly just seems so very young and naive about the world but at the same time she is incredibly endearing and a sweet girl. I really enjoyed this story a lot and it leaves you with a happy feeling when you are all done.

A Holly Brown Christmas was such a fun, cutesy, holiday story that brought on all the holiday vibes. If you can take Christmas and wrap it all up into a book, this is it. Though this story, while fun and entertaining, had a valuable little lesson in there. One that really hit home for me and had me in tears.
Holly is on a mission to help the company that she works for. The husband and wife owners have decided to divorce and cancelled the holiday party they have every year. But to the company, that holiday event is everything. Holly conjures up a plan along with Lucas, the couples son, to try to pull off the party and help his parents save their marriage.
While the whole party planning and events in between was so cute, it made me realize how important traditions are. As kids, we don't think much of them. We just do them. But as an adult with kids, I realized how much those little traditions mean and it made me want to bring back some of them in my home as well.
Lucas was never really one to care much for Christmas, but after spending the holidays with Holly and realizing the importance of the holiday, he's changed his entire outlook on things. Actually, by the end of this story, Lucas is a completely different person. He goes through so much character growth in this book, all because of Holly. It was so heart warming.
I really enjoyed this one. If you're looking for something to really put you in the Christmas mood and remind you of the importance of the holiday, this is the one!!! Also, shout out to Shmoop for just being in the story and being so adorable and well behaved!

Pure Holiday Magic!

Samantha Chase has done it again—delivered a heartwarming, feel-good holiday romance that left me grinning from ear to ear and fully immersed in the Christmas spirit. A Holly Brown Christmas is everything I crave in a festive read: sparkling chemistry, a delightfully cute storyline, and characters who leap off the page and straight into your heart.

Holly and Lucas are instant favorites. Their initial clash is electric—think witty banter and stubborn sparks flying everywhere—but watching them reluctantly join forces is where the real magic happens. What starts as friction quickly snowballs into something tender, funny, and downright miraculous. Chase nails the slow-burn enemies-to-lovers arc with humor, heart, and just the right amount of holiday cheer. Every scene between them had me rooting for their happily-ever-after.

As a longtime ARC reader of Samantha Chase’s for several years, I can confidently say this is one of her strongest releases yet. Her gift for crafting relatable, layered characters and small-town settings that feel like coming home is on full display. She doesn’t just write romance—she creates worlds you never want to leave. If you’re looking for a book that wraps you in warmth, makes you believe in second chances, and leaves you counting down to Christmas, this is it.

I received an ARC from the author; I'm hoping my review helps others find this terrific story. So, grab your cozy blanket, a cup of cocoa, and dive into A Holly Brown Christmas. Samantha Chase, thank you for another unforgettable story—here’s to many more! 🎄✨

Samantha Chase has created a delightful, heartwarming story with an unusual plot and some very interesting and endearing characters. Holly is a charismatic person with an optimistic personality, who is friendly with everyone and generous with her time. Christmas is her favorite time of the year.

Holly has had a crush on Lucas, the son of her wealthy bosses, for years. He grew up in a sterile home, with stiff, unemotional parents who care more about what people think of their lifestyle than they do about their family’s emotions. Since affection and warmth were not part of their lifestyle, obviously Lucas is a loner who rarely interacts with anyone from their office. Thus Holly rarely gets to see him. They only ever interact yearly during the enormous, very expensive Christmas party that Lucas’s parents organize for their employees.

Unfortunately, this year, the employers are sadly disappointed when, at the last minute, they discover that the owners of the company are breaking up and have chosen to cancel their popular Christmas festivity. Since this luxurious celebration is the highlight of everyone’s year, they are obviously very upset. Holly is especially despondent because, she will not get to see Lucas as they work together on the Christmas party.

The story livens up when the employees eventually convince Holly to persuade Lucas to hold the party anyway. Lucas agrees and offers to help Holly plan it. During this time, they eventually fall madly in love with each other.

Readers will become fascinated as the couple gradually learn to respect and appreciate each other’s differences, personalities and lifestyles

You can have all the money in the world and still not have everything. It’s the little things in life, making memories that are priceless. Lucas never decorated a tree. His family never made precious memories during the holidays. No traditions, just 5-star menu meals, professional decorations that cost more than your average salary, and fancy clothes.
Holly loved Christmas. Decorating the tree, getting caught up in the holiday spirit. She didn’t realize how lucky she was until Lucas told her what holidays were like with his family.
TO Lucas the holidays meant a break from the busy times. He felt like he was supposed to enjoy this time of year but deep down he didn’t. This time of year meant a lighter work load. But Holly showed him what this time should make him feel. Instead of the professionals doing all the work she enlisted the employees to volunteer, she put a personal touch on the decorating and the organizing of the annual office party. She showed Lucas it had nothing to do with the perfect image, the perfect tree, or the decorated house. Through Holly’s eyes he was able to see what was truly important about the holidays.
A Holly Brown Christmas is just another amazing “Hallmark” worthy story by the incredible and talented Samantha Chase. A holiday romance you cannot get enough of. Showing you the importance of the holidays. It’s not how much money you have, it’s the memories that are priceless and will last a lifetime. And if you’re lucky, give you a happily ever after you never thought would come true.

Holly Brown is definitely someone who likes Christmas and when she wants something she goes to any length to make it happen. I liked her tenacity, but I also really appreciated her friend CeeCee trying to reign her in, but she was in the zone and nothing and no one would stop her from her mission plus her crush Lucas was going to be involved so all systems are go at this point. I kind of felt like she was a tad stalkerish with Lucas but then learning about her photographic memory all her comments made sense. I have to say I’m impressed that she was able to pull off such a huge undertaking along with her helpers but when the time came for the event and she was also working on another plan to force reconciliation, that kind of blew up. I really enjoyed this story and all the ups and downs while putting everything together and her dog Shmoop was a perfect supporting character. He definitely stole the show. I loved how everyone came together and joined forces. I truly couldn’t believe her crazy plan came together not just the party but with his parents as well. I had to laugh towards the end of the book when one of Lucas’s sisters opened the door to where their parents were and let’s just say no matter what age you are opening the door and seeing what she saw, you cover your eyes and run the other direction. I also liked how a previous book was woven into the story as well. What a fun Christmas story and the ending with Shmoop and the hat and the surprise for Holly, what a wonderful ending. Great book!

Lucas finds his family in quite the drama close to the holidays. His mom is refusing to plan their usual company Christmas party, his dad is off talking about buying a yacht. He usually gets his downtime at the holidays so he is unsure what to do. Holly steps in and decrees that she can save their Christmas party and get his parents to realize what they mean to each other. I will note that Holly had her own very selfish reasons for wanting the party. She was not being altruistic. She liked being able to spend time with Lucas at their party and didn't want it to end. Holly's family is quite set in their holiday traditions. She seems to think everyone's family should be the same. Lucas grew up with wealth so, obviously, some of their traditions are not the same. His mother had caterers and other professionals help her with their holiday endeavors. I did give Holly credit for stepping up, but did find her to be self-absorbed some of the time. Her "teaching" him about Christmas got old for me after a bit. Her sharing her family traditions with him was nice, but he didn't need to find them to be the pinacle of holiday spirit. I felt she definitely over-stepped some of the time. I did like how Lucas just rolled with what was happening. He didn't freak out or throw tantrums. He acted like an adult when everyone around him was dissolving into toddler behavior. I did like the holiday theme. I just wanted more of Holly not controlling everything and more of her letting Lucas decide what he wanted.

𝐀 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 by Samantha Chase is a cute holiday workplace romance sprinkled with a secret crush, tons of family drama, and an adorable dog named Schmoop who seems like he could be secretly human! Holly’s whole world view was wrecked, when she learned that her bosses had suddenly filed for divorce and canceled the sacred company Christmas party, the one time of year she got to spend time close to her crush, Lucas, ie. the bosses’ son. Determined to save Christmas and possibly the Brooks’ marriage, Holly teamed up with Lucas to recreate the party on short notice. Her ensuing antics and overflowing holiday cheer opened Lucas’ eyes to a side of Christmas he had never experienced. The romance was sweet in a mostly closed door way. Holly felt a bit weirdly invested in her bosses’ marriage, but she had some really funny moments. I felt like there ended up being two parallel stories running with all the focus placed on the parents, and they didn’t deserve it, especially the mom. However, it added some entertaining drama, that’s for sure.😅 I most appreciated Lucas’ growth and watching him open up and see that it’s ok to feel things and experience life on a personal level. The rom-com parts were definitely my favorite, as I love a good reason to laugh while reading. If you’re looking for a fun, mostly closed door holiday read with some drama and laughs, this one might be for you.

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Oh oh,what is this ,what’s appertaining this Christmas time ? For Holly Brown it’s far from sublime ! “I have worked with each of them together and apart and I’m telling you that this is just wrong! Maybe if they waited and…you know…focused on each other and their family and the holidays…” CeeCee / Crystal Cassidy her friend imparts Holly, you need to calm down. You’re acting like your parents are getting divorced. They’re our bosses and we don’t know anything about their personal lives. All the laughing and smiling could very well have been a facade, you know?” But no she feels like they are her family and she won’t stand by and watch this remiss…Besides she’s in need of some time with Lucas ,Mr and Mrs Brook’ son. It’s the highlight of her year and so she decides to save it this year. She’s more sincere on that. Does she succeed or her plans go flat, splat even when the snow is crisp and even..Lucas is not feeling festive at all ,it’s such a task and now he’s caught up in his parents’ divorce ,no easy ask. But when a friend suggests out of the blue. Take over the party planning ,why don’t you? This starts a series of conversations and meetings with Holly of course . Does true love this Christmas run its course . Well Yule ( couldn’t resist) have to read and find out . This is an awesome ,feel good Christmas story so is there really any doubt… well written and those characters I was smitten . An awesome storyline, delivery divine.
