I never signed up for magical parasites trying to steal my triplets' powers, but here we are.
Pregnant with three magical babies who each have their own divine gifts? Hard enough. Add in my psychotic enemy Lyra creating parasitic connections to drain their powers before they're even born, and this mama is living a supernatural nightmare of epic proportions.
My husband Aidon's shadows can only defend us so much, and with my entire family working overtime on protection spells and battle plans, we're racing against a divine deadline. Because of course Lyra would time her ultimate power grab to coincide with my labor.
Throw in a mysterious woman named Thalia with a connection to Lyra that nobody saw coming, Forgotten Ones attacking our property, and my unborn children developing powers strong enough to create weather events and magical maps—and I'm having the pregnancy from hell. Literally, since my father-in-law Hades is now involved.
As the celestial alignment approaches and my contractions intensify, I'll need every ounce of my Pleiades magic and the support of my supernatural family to ensure my babies aren't just born—but born free from the parasitic bonds that threaten to make them magical batteries for a power-hungry madwoman.
Turns out these triplets have plans of their own, and Lyra has no idea what she's awakened.

Firstly, this may be my favorite series ever. There is so much amazing magic, supernatural activity combined with humor and characters that will draw you in to another world.
Story begins with Phoebe in bed, resting after the last installment being whisked away by Hades through a portal and being infected by magical parasites or tethers put there by Lyra. Others such as Stella are also dealing with the aftermath, having been corrupted by the Forgotton Ones with the family attempting to find loopholes to restore those impacted and remove the tether.
With the tether designed to siphon power, the triplets have combined their energy to bolster the defense put in place, keeping the tether from reaching them.
Clio returns to Phoebe with the family deep into research trying to uncover solutions and finds Lyra's tether have reached the babies magical, water, earth and shadow. Phoebe, Aidon and Clio are horrified and know time is limited.
Upon finding this, suddenly Phoebe is whisked into a vision, the sight of Lyra in a chamber comprised of dark walls with glowing runes. Phoebe can see and hear what Lyra is saying and feeling. Aidon is able to break the vision and Phoebe reports what she saw. Lyra is apparently still able to watch them.
In discussion over dinner, they talk about ways to use the tether against Lyra and turns out, the babies were listening. Strengthening their combined magic, they find a way to muffle the tether. Phoebe feels this might provide a way for them to send a reverse message through the tethers to Lyra, hopefully stopping her.
Having hope for a brief moment, Tseki runs in with disturbing news. The ley lines are corrupted which could poison everything. A bit later, three powerful friends in the coven appear, Vera, Iris and Tansy. The team discusses ways to restore the ley lines and protect the babies. The three visitors brought powerful plants to assist. Developing a plan, they get started in the garden out back with divine assistance from Hades and Persephone. Persephone did attempt to get support from the other divine entities and while they can't directly interfere, some are willing to offer magical assistance if needed.
While completing the space, they are attacked by 3 abominations created by Lyra. Everyone takes a stand and manages to contain the danger, however, Phoebe is sure this was just reconnaissance. They decide on a new plan based on information they found, using the Pleiades ancestors.
The family develops a plan using special plants to hide signatures. Phoebe was able to travel the parasitic threads to Lyra's location, undetected, and heard some of what Lyra is planning. On a brief walk outside, Aidon and Phoebe sense malevolence when suddenly the babies magic working in harmony help reinforce the wards around the property. They all have additional hope with a possible solution.
The family is putting together a plan when the alarms go off. They can see a woman stumbling up to the door when Phoebe is overcome with emotion from this woman. She's angry, hurt and seeking compassion. While Hades is hesitant to let her in, she seems to be directing that anger towards Lyra and says her name is Thalia, a prisoner of Lyra's and has escaped. She wants to help them remove Lyra from their lives. After finding ways to test Thalia's resolve, she defines what Lyra has been doing and lays out a plan that may stop her for good.
Phoebe practices a meditation technique that strengthens her bond with the babies and provides a method of communicating with them via emotion. Soon after, they are bombarded by Lyra's creatures testing and weakening the magical defenses. With the babies help, their able to overcome and stop the creatures. While the babies slept from their magic use, Thalia attempts to hinder the parasitic bonds but the bonds fight back causing premature labor. Thalia and Clio work to stop the labor and find a way to modify the parasitic bonds so they can't cause premature labor.
Upon resting with Aidon fearing for his mate and children, suddenly Phoebe is lit up like a fantastic light display and a map appears. The children have found the central point of Lyra's ley line infection. Phoebe and family reaches out to another Pleiades power and they devise a plan to cleanse the site and set up a warning system. Working with Luciana, they devise new artifacts along with a family crest to be placed around the corrupted ley lines. With the help of Tseki and Murtagh, they were able to place the artifacts at the corrupted sites which immediately started cleansing the corruption. With that came some of the ley lines being destroyed causing magical beings to seek refuge at Phoebe's residence. Along with the refugees was a seer who proclaimed the forthcoming of united magics long forgotten. With all the varied magics, the crowd comes together combining their unique skills to fortify the property in unique and useful ways. Just in time as Lyra has decided to move forward with the lunar energy and attempt to interfere with Phoebe and her children's birth.
Soon after Phoebe and family get everyone settled, Aidon takes her outside for a breather where she has a vision of Lyra as a child. Apparently Lyra had a difficult childhood leading to her personal corruption. However, Jean-Marc has found Lyra's plans have changed who is now targeting all ley line convergence. The other catastrophes were determined to be caused by her as she has been feeding her power from the ley lines for years and she is no longer working alone. Joining the conversation is Thalia who after speaking with the seer, was told she may be the only one who can stop Lyra being the lost daughter. Does she have to sacrifice herself, willingly, to end this possible tragedy?
Perimeter alarms blaring, Jean-Marc announces company which turns out to be Pantheon gods, Artemis, Nyx and Asterion. They report the purification has unleashed magics long dormant calling across the divide realms. Remembering why the original Pleiades were stripped of their celestial status is at the forefront with the divine wary and alarmed. The alarms and detection report massive power surges and they realize Lyra has begun the alignment.
Suddenly, the monitoring and alarms on Jean-Marc's laptop go dark. The god's determine Lyra is pulling from every magical site and being to one location. They realize Lyra is on her way.
Incoming, Lyra and an army of corrupted supernatural hit the wards with everyone inside scrambling to fortify and prepare to battle.
Phoebe is drawn into a portal that drops her into Lyra's sanctuary where Phoebe witnesses the horrifying experiments Lyra has been conducting. After Lyra explains her plan, Phoebe suddenly feels the babies creating a different magical network with all the trapped beings inside Lyra's experimental cages.
Releasing the victims, they all take on protecting Phoebe and helping the others. Phoebe has two powerful beings breakthrough a wall and finds ancient Pleiades relics that immediately connect with her providing strength. Using one of the relics, Phoebe is able to hack the portal of the dimension she was held in and transported everyone out to her home.
With the eclipse about to take place, Lyra gathers power from every site setting off alarms Jean-Marc is seeing on his laptop. Phoebe goes into actual labor with every influx of magic the babies produce trying to protect everyone. Whatever Lyra is doing is causing the ley lines to scream in protest.
With the babies fighting their birth and refusing to move into position, they attempt to calm the babies but the magical backlash is also feeding Lyra's drain along with the babies magic. Hades and Persephone attempt to provide some soothing words to the babies which almost works but Lyra is coming.
Battling the dark magic, everyone attempts to protect the residence and Phoebe but the babies are frightened. Phoebe is in agony with contractions and can barely hear what's happening. Lyra turns everything against them by using their own fears, affecting even the gods in the area. Suddenly, the wall of the bedroom is destroyed bringing a newly revised version of Lyra along with Forgotten Ones.
Phoebe is able to unleash the Pleiades power and chain Lyra, however, she begins to absorb the Forgotten Ones to break free. Suddenly, Thalia knows it's her time and unleashes her clean and pure Pleiades power to break the bonds Lyra created stealing magic from everything. Thalia's sacrifice restored everything Lyra had destroyed, breaking the parasitic bonds including those attached to the babies. Unfortunately, Thalia's sacrifice was final.
Phoebe is hit with another severe contraction but the babies are still terrified. Clio attempts to provide healing and let them know they are safe. Nothing works and the babies actively push anyone back, including Aidon. Clio has Bridget called in who can assist medically and magically.
Finally, all three babies are delivered safely in waves of magic.
What happens next? Just how will magic evolve with the powerful family and the babies?
In the nick of time at the end of the previous book, Phoebe and her triplets get safely home. But, the spell the evil witch Lyra cast on them is still causing mega problems. It is trying to make Phoebe; give birth to the babies so that Lyra can take their powers and more. But, the babies are fighting back, being the children of divine- Aidon, son of Hades & Persephone, as well as a Pleiades witch. Their babies’ powers are epic and way strong. Nina & Jean-Marc, Phoebe’s kids from her marriage to the piece of work, have both accepted Aidon as their father. They all love each other. Then there are Phoebe’s mom (Mollie) and Nana (Amelia) who are just riots and powerhouses themselves. As well as the shifters - Murtagh, Tseki, Layla and their crew; and Mythia and her people of the mound. They are doing so much research I was worried someone’s eyes were going to bleed or someone getting a ridiculous amount of paper cuts. The magic Lyra used is even older than the previous Pleiades, Hattie’s grimoire. I thought I hated Lyra before… What she does in this book made me pretty much see red, every time I saw her name. Things get crazy and scary for pretty much the whole book as they work against Lyra and her minions which include the Forgotten Ones, as well as other nasties. *shudders*. Nana had me laughing so much with her snark and willingness to use special shotgun shells. Just when the fight seems to be going Phoebe’s way, things fall away and it is the heck time.
I have watched Nina & Jean-Marc grow so much over time and books. Same for Phoebe, Stella and the rest. They are awesome, all of them, and I love them. For a while, Tarja (Phoebe’s familiar) & Layla aren’t in the beginning of the book, which made me worry. The elder siblings are worried that they won’t be able to protect the triplets and that they will be bad sibs. It broke my heart the number that mundane jerk did to them. I’m worried about the triplets, because if they are so powerful while unborn, what the heck can they do, once they are born? Plus, I have a feeling other older things are going to be coming out of the woodwork to get at the babies for their powers too. I’m also worried that they won’t have much of a childhood- will they grow up fast, like Hermes and Artemis did?
I have waaaay too many questions. Learning more about the triplets’ personalities was amazing. Little Melaina, Thaniel & Nyssa are just so cute and protective of each other and Nyssa is the little warrior. She will be the main protector of her siblings. Then things get worse again, with sections of more than 6 states’ lay lines getting corrupted. Another apocalypse if they don’t stop Lyra and company. More and more supernaturals show up at Phoebe’s for sanctuary, but they end up all working together to help protect Phoebe because the babies are their Hope. It is amazing what a community working together can do.
I am heartbroken with what it takes to finally free Phoebe & the triplets. I cried myself sick. Lyra sends everything at them because she firmly believes that the babies are hers. She sends corrupted humans, corrupted dryads, Forgotten Ones, and many other scary things at them. We even learn a bit about how Lyra got the way she was. But, she still chose her path- the darkness and evil. I can’t wait until she is dealt with and sent to Hades for punishment. He is soooo ticked off, I bet he will be beyond creative with it, and that is without Persephone’s advice on top of it. lol. Hades is scary to begin with, but at the battle, he is protecting the birth of his grandchildren. Things get a bit scarier before they get better. I cried and laughed a lot during this book and I hope everything is all right with Stella. I’d also like to see more of the three witches that came to help with herbs and knowledge. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Oh my gosh! I could not put this book down. I started reading and I had to make myself read slower so that I didn't rush through to see 'what happens next'.
Lyra's terrible, horrible plan to steal the triplets and their power just might actually happen.
Ley lines are corrupted, new beings have been created and it's all hands on deck as the everyone, including those seeking sanctuary, work to protect the babies.
But never underestimate the element of surprise! Ms. Trim kept me on the edge of my reading couch with all the twists and turns. The latest installment of the "Mystical Midlife in Maine" series put me through the wringer. I laughed, cried, cheered and jeered as I read. Great book. Great story.

Lordy, Phoebe can't seem to catch a break when it comes to Lyra and her quest for godhood. She now has parasitic tethers from all three of her babies linked to the crazy, er, witch. The things are not only sucking magic, but also spying. Everyone from Hades to coven witches are showing up to help, but Lyra keeps getting the upper hand.
Way too much happens in this book to try to condense it down. Just know that Lyra isn't going to go go quietly into that good night, or whatever the quote is, lol. Her contingencies have more contingencies. Buckle up and dive into Phoebe's messed up life. Bring popcorn. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book 19 of Mystical Midlife in Maine. Through reading this series this is the book I have waited on, and it did not disappoint. Danger surrounds Phoebe and her unborn children. A dangerous witch wants her babies and the power they have. Phoebe and her crew will do everything to keep them safe, but can they stop what is coming? I did not want to put this book down. It is a compelling story and by the end had me ready for the next book in the series.

The time has come for Phoebe to give birth to the triplets but Lyra’s tether and the corrupted leg lines are proving to be a complication. There is no stopping the birth but keeping out evil will take allies and a sacrifice from an unexpected place. I loved how the babies could hear everything going on and use their powers to help. This was definitely a fascinating read that I could not put down.

Fortunately she has her husband, Aidon, son of two gods, his parents, her two magical children/family, mother, best friend, grandmother and many more magical beings to help her. Read in on sitting.

This book was intense and kept me turning pages to see what was going to happen next. You also meet the lost girl, Thalia, she has been imprisoned by Lyra for years and has escaped to help out Phoebe and the triplets. The parasitic bonds are still trying to get the triplets magic and everyone is trying to stop it from happening. The ending brings a lot of surprises. A good read.

This is the best book in the series so far! Completely filled with excitement from page 1 to the very end. I found myself holding my breath and grabbing the arms of my chair. It was a crazy ride but so worth it. Absolutely loved it! A must read!
I totally love this series! Brenda Trim has gone above and beyond, creating a magical world living inside of our own. This book was the culmination of a storyline filled with danger, magic, and overcoming the villain.
Wow! I wish I could give this book a higher rating than 5 stars! I was amazing! Brenda Trim outdid herself with this book! I absolutely loved it. I had a hard time putting it down because of all the action. Phoebe and the gang can't catch a break let alone catch their breath. So much going on in this book it was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I laughed, cried and cheered for Phoebe. I love that it happens in Maine my home state and a mountain very near and dear to me Mt. Katahdin. I highly recommend this book and series! If you like paranormal books then don't hesitate to pick up this series or any book by the author. You won't be sorry!
