Wow! With no previous tracking experience after simply reading this book and doing some of the excercises I was able to track animals at a level I never knew I was capable of. What a feeling, when you use the tracking techniques in this book, and then you actually FIND the animal you were tracking in deep woods. Wow!

Nice book that gets into the details of tracking animals with instruction and short stories. Probably best for the beginner to intermediate threshold. Maybe kind of dense as a first book on tracking unless you are really ready to dive in!

Excellent book on how to find animals.
Engrossing stories illustrate teaching points.
Detailed explanations of mammal foot morphologies and animal gaits.
Great explanations illustrated by stories emphasizing tracking methodology; from sign identification, to speculative tracking.
Brief sections on animal sign and behavior for some common North American and African species.
These authors and their colleagues are amazing trackers with exciting tracking stories.
They are very technical without feeling stuffy or difficult to read, and it is evident they were heavily involved with standardizing tracking terminology and methodology for purposes of teaching and evaluation.
Includes detailed explanation towards the end of their tracking programs and certification qualifications.
Strongly recommend - gives a great sense of what is realistic and possible from a lineup of very impressive trackers, and how to get there.
