When your sworn enemy turns out to be your fated mate.
Finding your fated mate is supposed to be the happiest day of your life. Mine turned into a nightmare.
I knew I was in trouble when the mating bond pulled me into bear territory. I didn’t know how screwed I really was until I’m surrounded by bear shifters ready to break my neck.
There is only one person standing in the way of my imminent death. Kyran Sinclair, leader of the same bear clan that killed my father. My mate.
This is book two in the Wildheart Pack series, but can be read as a standalone. HEA guaranteed! The story contains dark themes that may be triggering to some. Find a full list of triggers inside the book.

In Fighting Fate we meet Tara Black, a wolf shifter drawn irresistibly into bear territory by a mate bond she never wanted, only to discover the one who could save her life is Kyran Sinclair, the feared alpha of the bear clan that killed her father, and the very man she is forbidden to touch. This second entry in the Wildheart Pack series blends paranormal romance with enemies-to-lovers tension as ancient pack laws and simmering danger stand between them and a love neither expected. The world is rich with shifting loyalties and territorial stakes that heighten every encounter.
From the moment these two are thrust together, I felt the current between them crackle, even as tradition and past wounds held them apart; Tara’s vulnerability and Kyran’s struggle between duty and desire feel heart-on and intensely personal within this compact story. While it moves quickly, the chemistry and emotional stakes kept me hooked to the end.
4 out of 5: a steamy, addictive ride with bold romance at its core.
The evil twin sister from book one gets her own book, in which her mate is a bear shifter who “rejects” her. Loads of pushing away and drama, all of which leads to a happy ending.
Since I read book 3 before this one, I already knew this was going to be a happy end, but that obviously didn't come as much of a surprise. 😊 I really liked the addition of a new shifter clan and the enemies to lovers trope in this one. And I also liked the forced proximity that made resisting the mating call basically impossible. Another well rounded short story from Darcy Rose. 😊
Will their bond bring healing or will it rip the wounds open again
Fighting Fate is the second book in the Wildheart Pack series. This is a different type of story for this author, so I was not sure what to expect. After reading the first book, Forcing Fate, I knew I wanted to follow the rest of the series to see what happened and to who. This story is about about Tara and Kyran, fated mates who actually enemies in every way. Tara is Cole's sister, and he and Nora were the couple in the first book of the series. This time Tara is a wolf shifter and Kyran is a bear shifter. When she feels a pull she steps into bear territory and that kicks the mating bond into high gear, and way past the point where either of them can deny it any longer. But no all is easy in this bonding as it also brings up feelings that are just under the surface of things that happened between the families.
On the positive side of things: Fighting Fate is compulsively readable. Something about it just drags you from one page to the next, like binge-watching a guilty pleasure show you know you should turn off... after one more episode. You've got fated mates (which in this world seems to me instant and persistent arousal), lots of yearning and forced proximity. Tara, twin sister of the MMC from Forcing Fate, ignores her better judgement and crosses into bear shifter territory in search of her mate. This is apparently a crime that demands capital punishment, and the bear clan are pretty blood-hungry. But Kyran, their alpha and her mate, does not kill her on the spot but takes her captive while he tries to decide what to do.
On the more negative side: there's not a ton of logical consistency running through the story. There's a lot of potential, honestly, but almost everything that happens just feels jerry-rigged to lead into whatever (usually spicy) scene that the author wanted to write next. And despite the interesting and established family dynamic, the story remains very surface level and doesn't dive any deeper than "He's my fated mate and everything I could ever want forever and ever."
Ultimately, it's a fast and fun read where you can turn off your brain and inhale it all in one sitting. Just don't expect to leave the kiddie pool in terms of depth.
He notado (con solo leer estos 2 libros) que la autora tiene una tendencia a usar ciertos temas conflictivos en sus historias, y no sé si me agrade del todo.
Short but addictive so hang on you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. The saga continues with Tara who is punishing herself for how she treated Nora especially after learning what she has been through how she added to her pain but she has found her mate the problem is they are enemies and they aren’t supposed to cross territory lines but she ignores it all to find her mate who happens to be the alpha of all bears. Kyran sexy as all get out alpha of all bears instantly made alpha after watching hunters take out his brother it isn’t a job he actually wanted but accepted has watched his friends find their mates wondering if fate forgot about him until he one night he watches his mate being drugged, threaten, he can’t stand by allowing it and so he steps in preventing any harm but how could it be his mate is a wolf their kind don’t mix. But when his mate walk boldly into their territory he won’t allow any harm to come to her the more time they spend trying to fight the pull the stronger the pull grows until they can no longer ignore it and he has waited a lifetime for a mate he can’t find it in his heart to reject her so when a meeting is demanded by her family with the threat of war between her family but immediately he knew he couldn’t reject her she was given to him but will his clan accept his decision, will they every accept a wolf in their bear family, will they amend the old ways changing them allowing change for others to find their mates, and is there a happiness for the two of them somewhere on their path of discovery?
Some bonds aren’t meant to be broken…even if your fate seems impossible. Fighting Fate delivers a heart-pounding, enemies-to-mates story that grips you from the first page and refuses to let go. Tara Black has lived by one rule: never cross into bear territory. But when her fated mate pulls her into a world she’s been taught to fear, she discovers that love doesn’t care about laws, traditions, or centuries-old grudges.
Enter Kyran Sinclair: alpha of the bear clan that killed Tara’s father, a man who has spent his life fighting fate, watching others find their mates while wondering if destiny had passed him by. When he sees Tara in danger, everything changes. Their bond is immediate, irresistible, and forbidden—but the more they resist, the stronger the pull grows. Sparks fly, tension simmers, and danger lurks at every turn as they navigate a world where family loyalties and shifter laws could cost them everything.
Darcy Rose masterfully weaves suspense, steamy romance, and emotional depth into a tale of love that refuses to be denied. Fighting Fate is a story about breaking rules, defying expectations, and discovering that sometimes, the heart knows best—even when fate is fighting back. Perfect for fans of paranormal romance who crave alpha heroes, fierce heroines, and a love that can’t be tamed.

It’s a decent second book in this series (possible spoilers ahead) This is an age gap, but does that really matter with animal shifter? 😂 H is 38. h is 18
Tara (h) is the sister of the H in book 1. h smells her mate and goes into bear territory. It’s actually against the law, punishable by death. H happens to be an Alpha Bear and h’s mate. His clan wants her put to death. Instead, he locks her in his house while he decides what to do.
h wants H, but he keeps rejecting her. She takes off which makes his animal side kick in. He takes her V in the woods. 🤪
So……there’s this OW, named Regina. She’s been H’s fuxk buddy. She’s shows up at H’s cabin and she’s BIG MAD but H being a typical man, brushes her feelings aside, even though h tells him “ummm, she’s really mad” 🙃🙃 (I’m positive she’s not gonna be a problem lol)
H has a meetup with the wolves aka h’s family. H then decides he is going to “mate” h. Everything is fine until he’s hit in the head and wakes up- h is gone. Dun dun dun *shocked face* Regina kidnapped h and plans to murder her. H makes it in time and h’s brothers help. Regina is ☠️
Then we have the final mate scene. I guess bears mate their partners IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLAN because that’s exactly what happens. 😱
The epilogue leads into Zeke (h’s brother) finding his mate for book 3.
A novella about two people coming together even though they’re different and there are laws preventing them from being together. The two are fated mates even though the man is trying to push down his basic urges. The woman’s family finds out where she’s at so the man has her talk to her brother who’s the head of the family. A meeting has been made between the man and the brother and at the meeting the man will decide what to do about his fated mate. Everyone is there at the meeting and he decides to be with his mare even though there are laws against it. Going back to their home they’re arracks and the woman is taken. The man and her family come to save the woman and not long after they two have their mating ceremony. They tell each other that they love one another. The couple is at her family's home where they go every week to see her family. The man and her brother update the laws that they live by. A call takes some of the family to find a stranger that’s in their woods. The couple is happy and in love. A happily ever after mating.

Fighting Fate, book two in the Wildheart Pack series follows wolf shifter Tara Black and bear shifter Kyran Sinclair. When Tara feels the pull of the mate bond into bear territory, she tries to fight it, knowing that crossing into their territory means certain death according to shifter laws. When she stumbles upon Kyran, and his clan, she is shocked that he is her fated mate but refuses to allow her to even get close enough to try, threatening to reject her and then kill her as their laws state.. but something deep inside tells Kyran that this might be his one chance to ever find a mate. Forcing her to his cabin, Kyran must decide to either follow the bear traditions, or claim Tara for himself, marking her as his mate. What will Kyran choose? And how will his choice change the shifter laws forever?
Next story will be Zeke, Tara's second older brother. It was okay. Ties into Cole and Nora's story. Kyran is the bear alpha, 38 years of age, prefers his solitude with his clan but didn't think he scent his mate and never thought it would be with the 18 year sister to the wolf pack, Tara. Majority he's don't know what to do, he wants Tara but he also wants to take her out since she broke territory laws, walking into bear territory from her wolf pack. Tara is waiting for the rejection from Kyran and her death or the possibility of living with her family and not having her mate, and the woe is me she keeps talking about that she deserves it from how she treated Nora, which it got boring to read after many times she's mentioned/thinking that she deserved punishment. Some other woman drama with Kyran's bed buddy he dropped when Tara came into the picture.
Short, addictive, and impossible to put down. This installment follows Tara, who’s drowning in guilt over how she treated Nora—until fate throws her a curveball. She’s found her mate… but he’s the bear alpha, and wolves and bears are sworn enemies. Kyran never wanted to lead his clan, but after losing his brother, the role fell to him. He’s watched everyone else find their mates, assuming fate had passed him by—until he rescues a mysterious wolf being threatened and realizes she’s his. Tara crossing into bear territory sparks tension, forbidden chemistry, and the kind of fated-mate pull neither of them can fight. Fate has its way of making changes and it is fun to see how both the clan and pack start to work together.
I was waiting for this book after reading Forcing Fate!! At the end, Tara disappears and her scent is tracked leading into bear territory. This is forbidden as the bears and wolves have strict laws over breaching territory, but the mate pull is too strong to deny.
This one had a lot of back story to it with the shifters being different species that don’t get along. The bear shifters are responsible for the death of Tara’s father and there a lot of people against this union.
Good story with enemies to lovers, fated mate themes. Steamy and thrilling storyline. Very enjoyable.

I'm still not completely sure how I feel about this book. I already disliked Tara after the first book because of her brother. She smells her mate and decides to cross the boundary into Bear territory, which is against the law and punishable by death. Kyran knew that she was his mate because he had helped save her and her siblings weeks before when Nora's family ambushed them. However, he had chosen to stay away from her after that due to the laws and the fact that his pack would never accept her. I found her to come off as really desperate, and it was unappealing.

Fighting Fate is a shifter romance with a twist. Tara is a wolf shifter who unexpectedly finds out her fated mate is Kyran Sinclair, leader of the same bear clan that killed her father. She's knows that she's forbidden to cross into bear territory but the pull is too great to ignore. Now she finds herself in precarious situation where they are calling for her death. Will Kyran reject her and follow what the law requires to protect his clan or will he give in an claim her as his mate?
I received a ARC through Booksprout an I'm voluntarily leaving my review.
This is a short novel, and FATED MATES, ENEMIES TO LOVERS, and FORBIDDEN LOVE are the main tropes. Kyran and Tara (aka Hunckson and Chantilleee) are fated mates, but Kyran’s bear pack killed Tara’s father, which is bound to make Thanksgiving dinner awkward. If nobody kills each other in the cranberries, it will be a miracle. Tara has a complicated past, but she is an interesting heroine, and Kyran and she are definitely hot together.

Tara is a wolf shifter and is pulled into bear territory, where she finds her fated mate, a bear shifter named Kyran. One problem, Kyran's bear pack killed Tara's father. This shifter romance has an interesting storyline where bears and wolves are enemies, but fate brings Kyran and Tara together as fated mates. The writing is good, and the story is filled with pack drama, danger, steam, and a happily ever after. Fighting Fate is book two of the Wildheart Pack series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Fighting Fate is the second book in the Wildheart Pack series. This book is about Kyran and Tara and is told from both of their points of view.
When Tara feels her pull for her mate, she goes over the line, and ends up in bear territory. She finds her mate who is Kyran the powerful bear alpha. Kyran knows he can't be with a wolf shifter, as it's against their laws.
Kyran keeps Tara safe, but also wants to reject her. However, his pack want her to pay for showing up on her land. Tara will take her fate, after how she treated her brother's mate growing up.
I really enjoyed this book. The push and pull between these two characters. They both wanted each other, but Kyran struggled with what he should do. Will he come to terms as Tara as his mate? Or will he reject her? Can he form an alliance with her brother and the other wolves?
I hope there is more in this series, because I enjoy them!
Nora hopes to escape her current life when she finds her mate, but luck is not on her side. When the one person who should love and cherish her is the one who has hated her for so long and wants to destroy her, Nora knows she has to reject him. Short but entertaining. This was a really enjoyable read. Can't wait for the next book.

This is a great book that follows on from book 1. I have been looking forward to find out who the strange bear was from the first book. I like Tara. She is feisty and stands up for what she wants. Kyran seems to like to torture himself with what he wants versus his duty. They make a great couple, with their banter, lively arguments and their spicy scenes. This is a great book and a very enjoyable read.
Kyran is the Alpha of the bear clan. He believes he will ever find his true mate, that is until he meets Tara. Tara is the daughter of the Alpha of the wolf clan. It's the same Alpha that Kyran's clan killed. It's an unlikely forbidden union of the two clans. It's also one that can cause a war. This is book of forbidden love and hate. The fight to control ones needs. It's an emotional rollercoaster that keeps you on edge and wishing for a happy ending.
Another winner from this author. A female wolf shifter who feels the mating bond. With a massive alpha bear shifter. Enemies. But she cannot keep away and crosses the border — which means death. An ancient law. Will the bear alpha go through with the sentence? Or will he cause a war and mate with her.
A short and quick read. The 2nd book in the Wildheart Pack series and this book focused on Tara. Her brother's book was the first one in this series. Tara's problems begin when she finds her mate is shockingly her enemy - Kyran. Bears and Wolves are forbidden to associate together so Tara's life is at risk. All of which made for a twistingly good read.
