A town lost in time. A death that doesn’t add up. A sheriff who won’t let go. After fleeing Houston’s corruption, Sheriff Miles Johnson finds peace in Ashville, until a violent robbery leads him to Chesterville, a town where criminals surrender without a fight and secrets run deep. When his son dies in a suspicious accident during a restoration project, Miles suspects foul play. Melody Turnhill, the town’s enigmatic resident, may hold the key, but she’s not talking. As Miles digs into Chesterville’s past, he uncovers guarded librarians, shifting alliances, and a mystery that refuses to stay buried. Grief drives him to the edge, and justice may demand more than he’s willing to give. A gripping mystery of loss, obsession, and the strange power of a town that protects its own.

I really enjoyed the mystery and suspense in this one. The story pulled me in with the strange town, unanswered questions, and Miles’ determination to uncover the truth about his son’s death. There are plenty of twists and secrets along the way, and the atmosphere kept me curious about what was really happening in Chesterville. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys small town mysteries with suspense, emotion, and a darker edge.
A gripping mystery that pulls you into Chesterville, a town shrouded in secrets and strange loyalties. Sheriff Miles Johnson’s pursuit of truth after a personal tragedy is both haunting and relentless, and the town’s hidden past keeps you guessing at every turn. A compelling story of loss, obsession, and justice that lingers long after the last page.
I was immediately drawn in by the opening and it only got better with each chapter. The characters felt real and really felt Deputy Miles frustration and determination in his quest for answers about the strange town of Chesterville and Ms. Turnhill. The two local librarians get into the mix and make the story fun and entertaining. I enjoyed reading it thouroughly.
