Drawing for Gold

Rate this book
Accepted to his dream school, Roman is eager to leave home and start his life as a college student. Unfortunately, what should have been an escape from an unsupportive family becomes a new set of challenges as he clashes with his new teammates and struggles to keep up at practice.

Just when he thinks his only option is to quit, a new spark of passion arrives in the form of his supposed rivals, Casper Graves and Demi Knight, who play for the same team as his childhood best friend, Joss, who is thriving without him.

With failing confidence, creeping anxiety, and a throbbing shoulder, his new dream, transferring schools to be closer to the two men he’s falling for, may be just out of reach.
This is not a sequel to Aiming for Gold. It is an alternate universe of Aiming for Gold. You do not need to read Aiming for Gold to understand this one and vice versa.

Unfortunately Joss is still around. This was so much better than the first book. It did still read like a first draft but I had more fun!

Clark Guire has done it again. 💛 I fell in love with Aiming for Gold, and Drawing for Gold just made me fall even harder for this world, these characters, and this beautiful, heartfelt sport that somehow blends competition, friendship, and emotion so seamlessly. 🎯🏹

Roman’s story was such a journey — both tender and raw. Accepted into his dream school, all he wanted was a fresh start 🌟, but instead, he found himself facing a new set of challenges: tense team dynamics, intense practices, and that ache of not quite fitting in. His struggles with confidence and anxiety felt so real 😭. And just when everything seemed too much, along came Casper Graves and Demi Knight — his supposed rivals — and suddenly, his world started to shine a little brighter ✨. Their connection was slow, vulnerable, and full of heart.

What I’ve always loved about Clark Guire’s writing is how real the characters feel. 💕 The author doesn’t shy away from showing mental health struggles, messy emotions, or the quiet strength it takes to heal. The representation — from sexuality to identity to mental wellness — was done with such compassion and authenticity. 🏳️‍🌈 The way each person carried their pain, learned to communicate, and slowly grew was beautiful to witness.

And the sport itself — oh, I adore it! 🥇 It is one of the most creative, fun concepts I’ve read in a contemporary series. It’s dynamic, unique, and makes me want to be part of the Evobe world. Every match had me grinning, anxious, and cheering like it was real. 🏹💥

Roman, especially, had my heart. He was so endearing, so easy to love. 💛 Watching him find his footing, make peace with his past, and open himself up to new love and friendship was just… everything. It’s the kind of character journey that stays with you.

✨ Perfect for fans of:
🏹 Found Family
❤️ Slow Burn
💞 Bisexual Awakening
🤝 Rivals to Lovers
🧠 Mental Health Representation
🌈 Queer Friendships
🎓 College Setting
💔 Healing and Self-Discovery

Thank you so much to the author, Clark Guire, for the ARC opportunity 🥹💛. I’m so grateful to have been part of Roman’s story — this series continues to shine brighter with every page. 🌟

I liked aiming for Gold so far and was really excitedfor drawing for Gold!!
I gotta say This Book helped a bit more to understand Evobe. I love love loveeeeed the ending way more then the Simson for Gold one. You Can clearly see the Parallels and I really didn’t thought that the Family Situation would change tbh. It was kinda rushed I wish we could’ve got more intimate Moments with them three. Joss is less worse then in the other book and it’s really nice I like that. There was a lot Casper and way less demi in this one so I kinda missed my Boy Demi. I do love laras character a lot and it was nice seeing gwen not suffering so much that poor Girl really got her heart broken. In General I think a mix of both books would make the best. I really enjoyed this book a lot. There was less angst (wouldve loved more) i think and in my opinion Roman was really made to be a crafter/ artist. That is his faith in my opinion. I would love to Read fanfictions of them or even more Short Bonus Storys or headcanons. I love that so much!!

My personal headcanons:
Roman loves wearing funky socks and demi thinks it’s silly but comes up every other week with new socks for him. Casper is heavily in love with just seeing These two do that.

Roman Starts making Animation in a few years

Demi is Going to be pro, Casper quits evobe and starts a funding project.

Demi and Casper Register Roman for a museum exhibition and Roman can exhibit his glass art and artworks.

Romans sister is Going to be a TikTok star

The three of them Discovery gardening and they start planning their own food and Cook with them.

Roman makes demi join a cooking show and he wins and gets his own cookingbook

Casper is getting a tattoo for the three of them

Joss and Tj are getting engaged and Roman is his best man ofc
