EMERY

Stripping was supposed to be an escape. A faraway haven to hide from the soul-sucking normalcy of my reality. A safe space to unleash my inner flirt, my inner tease, my inner sinner.

When I'm dancing at Lux, I'm not Emery Jones, a woman carrying a stranger's heart. No. I'm Luna Lush. A deviant. An alter-ego. A goddess. It's my dirty little secret. Harmless. They can't touch me. Only look. And I rarely look back. Except for that night. The night I saw him.

And everything changed.

DAMON

It's been three years since I've let myself feel anything other than regret and guilt. It wasn't always like this. There was a time when I ruled every room I entered. When I got every single thing I desired. When I was a king among kings.

But every king eventually falls. And I fell. Hard. I planned on spending the rest of my life in solitude, repenting the sins that altered my destiny and destroyed my faith but then I saw her. My salvation. And no one will take her from me

Especially not him.

Dirty Little Secrets by E.L. Lewis
Sweet Sinners book 1 (trilogy)

Thank you to E.L. Lewis for entrusting me with an early copy!

Dark contemporary romance
Dual POV, extra spicy, on the way to why choose, MFM, unreliable narrators, morally grey, smart career oriented FMC, secret adult entertainer side gig, 🐝DSM, good girl, complicated family dynamics, traumatic past, secrets, slowly revealing history, living with chronic health concern/heart condition rep, cliffhanger
Please read the content warnings

This book absolutely had me in a chokehold and I devoured it. I really appreciated the look we got into Emery's life and how she felt so trapped by her medical condition. Emery was also a fun character to see have a career and be very good at it, but also seek an alter ego where she felt powerful and free. Damon and Emery going up against each other was fun to watch and then it was intriguing to see a certain doctor (not related to Emery's care team) start sneaking in to her life. I got caught by the sneak peek of the next book at the end and it made the cliffhanger more devastating! Haha I should know better than to read those sneaky extra little punches to the gut! Will be reading the next one to see where things go!

This is not your typical romance or why choose. where the fmc falls madly in love with both the mmcs. Emery has desires for both mmcs but they both despise each other. Which makes things very interesting. This is a bit of a slow burn, but E.L. Lewis keeps you engaged the entire time.

Emery has difficulty not only with life in general but also her love life. She has commitment issues, but a VERY small part of her wants to give in and fall in love. It's obvious that a lot of her struggles she faces is because of her growing up constantly being sick and in and out of hospitals so I don't blame her for no longer finding joy when it's been sucked from you for years. She is incredibly smart, confident and independent. She also lives this double life that no one knows about and Demon helps bring more of that side out and helps Emery feel a bit more freee. My heart really didn't ache for not only Emery but Damon. He has a lot of past trauma that just makes you want to give him all the forehead kisses and snuggle this man. Damon can sometimes be impatient and not really think things through which kinda bites him... but I love him and Emery together because she really puts him in his place and makes him work for it.

I really enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down. After that twist at the end I definitely need book 2 asap! I'm looking forward to reading ans getting to know more of Quinton.

I had the honor of being able to read this as an ARC. This was my first book by E.L Lewis and let me tell you I am now a forever fan. E.L captured every emotion and left it on the page for you to read and feel every part. E.L has a way to make you feel connected to every character even when similarities seem foreign. I was captivated from the very first chapter and I didn’t want to put it down. Dirty Little Secrets follows Emery who was given a second chance at life, although she feels it was just an extended death sentence. She closed herself off to everything good the world had to offer never seeing the good in the second chance she was given. That is until Damon comes in and turn her world upside down. Fighting his own demons, Damon is determined to break Emery in every way. Little does he know, she’s already broken. Is Emery just his latest obsession? Is Damon just a means of distraction? Do the secrets they both harbor destroy everything they have been building together? Red Dirty Little Secrets to find out. Release date: 11/03/2025

This was my first book by this author. The writing and storytelling were good and there was enough going on in the plot to keep the story interesting.
My three star rating comes from how the author depicted the relationships and the kink dynamic. I believe there is enough knowledge and resources available that if an author wants to have King be a strong part of the story they need to do their research. It felt like this author did not really understand how those relationships work and the rules that keep everyone safe and comfortable and confident.

I don’t feel this book really belongs in a why choose category but our FMC definitely has commitment issues.

A solid, enjoyable read with good chemistry and a nice level of spice. While it didn’t completely wow me, it was engaging and easy to sink into.

Emery is an annoying brat. She and Damon are so toxic and this plot doesn't even make any sense with the whole heart thing. The reason why he even wants her is ridiculous.

Ofcourse she had a boyfriend and ofcourse he needed to be pathetic just to get rid of him while he was the one who dodged the bullet.

The whole office setting is ridiculous, not sure what the point of it was other than to just show how unreal it was.
