Feeling That Way

Rate this book
What if you find the right person but it’s the wrong time?

Jules Maxwell
I recently moved to the small town of Highland Falls after what my aunt Lou calls my “Chicago meltdown.” Work was too much. My secret hobby of writing romance books became a whole lot to deal with. I have space in my life for my cat O’Malley and that’s about it. Of course, the Fates would land me with a backyard neighbor who is the hottest single dad I’ve ever seen. Super.

Noah Lawson
I grew up with financial security, but that was about it. Due to the terrible example my parents gave me of taking what they wanted from the world, I long ago decided to be their opposite and give back. After college, I did just that, heading to Africa to help rural areas have access to water. It was meaningful work but meant I was an absent parent, so I returned to the States to be present in the life of my daughter. She’s my focus and the only relationship I have time for. Just as I’m adjusting to life as a full-time dad, a new woman moves to town. It’s fine—I can always use a new friend, right?

When sparks fly and life begins to throw obstacles in their path, can Noah and Jules deny they are meant to face them together?

You had me at the name Jules. It is one of my favorite girls names. That was like an omen for me that this was going to be good. Next omen: I love music and as I was reading the theme from the Love Boat popped into my head. Why, you may ask? The opening line of the theme is, “ Love, exciting and new “. When you boarded the Love Boat you knew very quickly romance was bound to happen. Plus they only had an hour. Jules and Ryan had that instant chemistry. No matter how they tired to slow it down it wasn’t happening.
I don’t do spoilers it’s not fair to the author or the reader. You deserve to get the full enjoyment
What I will say is it’s very relatable. If you like everyday people, flaws and all. You’ll fully enjoy and immerse yourself in this story. It promises something for everyone who love small town romance.

Heartwarming small town romance

This is a heartwarming romance with winning characters. Jules is an introverted and socially awkward accountant with a secret career as a best selling romance novelist. Noah is a single dad who has committed his life to charitable work. While the romance happens in a condensed time period, it feels believable. Ryan builds the love story with small moments and meaningful communication. You believe that Jules and Noah are attuned to and hear each other. The characters celebrate each other's achievements and support each other through some significant life events.

This is a continuation of the Highland Falls series but it works as a standalone. If you want context about Noah's ex and daughter, you can read Loving Ivy first.

Another adorable love story set in the fictional Highland Falls! I love getting to return to this small town, book after book, to catch up on how Kat Ryan's previous MCs are doing with their happily ever after partners. Noah is a delightful book boyfriend and Jules is a fantastic match for him. If you enjoy a romance with a fair amount of spice and very little drama, check out this book and the entire series. It's got the quirky small-town characters and vibes in the vein of Gilmore Girls and plenty of love for furry friends as well. And Addie is the best kid ever and she steals the show a lot of the time! A perfect book to let you escape the hard days.

Wow! What a great read set in Highland Falls! I loved Noah and Jules' journey to HEA. Seeing the way that Noah and Ivy coparent together, I knew we would need an equally loving person to join this coparenting quad and Jules was the perfect addition to this family. I love the Highland Falls series and this was a beautiful read!
