Mia is for all the girls who spend their time trying to please others. The ones who try to meet everyone's wishes, please everyone but themselves, and try to fit into someone else's mold. She's for all the girls who have ever felt less than. Sunshine is here to teach every girl and woman how they should be treated and easily the best book boyfriend I've ever had. This story is loaded with ups and downs, tough family relationships, and so much healing. This should be on every romance readers list.

This was such a sweet story. It touches on some tough topics like sexual abuse and overcoming internal demons due to abusive relationships with people who should be a safe space.
Sunshine… He. Is. A. Dream. Man.
Like seriously the patience his character shows, the love language and acts of service from him… he is pure perfection.
And for this to be a debut novel!

TW: sexual assault, sexual manipulation and suicidal ideation

Mia, a young woman finding her own self-worth and coming to terms with her past while managing college and romance.
Sunshine, a musical theater student with a heart of gold.

I devoured this book in pretty much one sitting, I just couldn't stop reading. A great friends-to-lovers romance with a relatable protagonist and a swoon worthy love interest. I didn't expect to relate this much to Mia, but from the first pages I felt like I was looking into a mirror. It's a beautiful story about finding your own self-worth and realising that you deserve to be happy. This book while being quite emotional, leaves you with a warm feeling. Sometimes it feels like an emotional rollercoaster and other times it feels like a warm hug.

I loved the pacing of the story, it never felt slow and it didn't feel like there were any filler scenes. None of the storylines seemed forced and had been building up since the beginning of the book. This book actually got me out of a month long reading slump.

Wow! First I didn’t realize this was her debut! I loved this book. So much emotion and just when I thought it was going to be just a cute fun read, she through in some overcoming trauma. I could not put this down. Stayed up till 3am to finish. Mia packs up and makes changes to her life such as career path, school and even fiancé. She wants to live the life she chooses not what her mother had picked for her. Meeting her best friend’s charming and sexy theater friend takes her on a wild ride of finding herself, navigating what she wants out of life and facing suppressed trauma. This book was such an amazing surprise and was more than I expected.

I absolutely loved this book and Mia, Sunshine, Skye and Aubrey. From the minute we met this group of friends, I was hooked. I found Mia to be very relatable with her wanting to focus on her college courses and work but falling for Sunshine which seemed inevitable. Plus, Sunshine is the dreamiest of book boyfriends. From the way Sunshine was so excited to meet Mia based on her best friend Skye’s stories and photos to him wanting to be in Mia’s life however she wanted him. I rooted so hard for Mia and Sunshine’s HEA. I also loved Skye and Aubrey and their love for each other and their friends. There are some sensitive topics so make sure to read the trigger warnings. Thank you to author Leigh Sharp for the opportunity to read this early.

This book...

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book, it is this authors "coming out" book and you can feel the love that went into it with each page. I absolutely DEVOURED it in one day, and my only regret was that I finished it so quickly and it was over!

The story follows Mia, a college student who is navigating life while finding herself along the way. The author gives the reader the ability to see inside Mia's mind through some pretty heavy issues that make you feel like you, yourself, could be Mia. You love her, you're frustrated with her, you're happy for her, and you ARE her.

The book also has Sunshine, the perfect "boy next door" MMC who you're able to love with the first meet of him. In a world where it's easy to forget what it's like to be loved, it is so refreshing to read a book that reassures what love is SUPPOSED to look like.

Unwind is a beautifully written story of two people who both have went through struggles that have made them who they are, and made them perfect for each other - not to mean they don't have to fight to get there. It is the perfect length read to sit and enjoy the fall weather, laugh a little, tear up, and remind ourselves that it is important in life to have love and support in a healthy way because life unfortunately isn't roses and "sunshine" all the time, but with the right people we can make it through anything.

Unwind by Leigh Sharp is a heartwarming romance featuring a man who is sure to make readers swoon. It steals your breath with every page. The slow-burning relationship between Sunshine and Mia beautifully illustrates that love is far more than physical attraction. Sunshine is the ideal leading man—patient, kind, and endlessly supportive. It is impossible for Mia, or the reader, to resist his charm and charisma. Through tender emotions and a genuine connection, Sharp reminds us just how simply irresistible true love can be. Unwind will leave you smiling, your heart full, as if you are listening to your favorite song.

I absolutely couldn't put this down. The perfect amount of silly and sweet, but also serious. The characters felt so real, with real life problems and needs, and a story that emphasized the importanance of working through challenges that people face, but often don't want to talk about. A fantastic debut novel. Thanks to Leigh Sharp for the ARC!

I loved Unwind. It’s the perfect balance of feel goodness, a little bit of drama mixed in, and some steamy thrown on top. Sunshine is a dream, Skye is the best friend everyone wants, and Mia is someone that we all see a little bit of ourselves in. Highly recommend.

*I was given this book as an ebook from the author but my review is based solely on my own thoughts and opinions*

Love that theatre was added to the story. I feel like it should be in more books however I’m a little biased because i have a BA in theatre lol. Give me a musical theatre male hot lead any day, my perfect ideal book boyfriend.

I do wish it was a little spicier, not like raunchy, but I mean they are in college, it does lean more to YA Contemporary romance because it’s super cute. I wanna see longing, he’s been waiting a long time and when they kiss, it’s cute, I want passionate like he’s been dreaming of this moment and can’t get enough. I do appreciate him being a perfect gentleman, very swoon worthy but he doesn’t have to be a prude haha. Personally, it’s still cute though lol. But I understand, she’s got trauma. This book is less of a romance and more of trauma healing and finding one self and the journey to feel like a person again with some romance sprinkled in. A coming of age story if you will.

I would have liked to see more of their relationship growth, he falls in love with her and is so enamored with her from the very beginning but to be honest, idk why haha, there weren’t many characteristics that made her stand out but I guess that’s love in away, you don’t know why you have a connection with a certain someone, you just do and click. So maybe I’m wrong, wouldn’t be the first time.

I would have also loved more background to sunshine, there was mention of his past and fighting but we never got any more than that. I would have loved to learn more about him and how he became the man he is today.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I didn’t know what I was diving into but I’m glad I read it. Sometimes you need a cute college romance with a man who is utterly perfect and in no way real in the real world haha, if he is, I need to snatch him up haha (sorry husband).

I give it a 3-3.5 stars, the story and writing shows the authors promise and I can’t wait to see what else they write in the future.

As a debut novel, I wasn’t sure what to expect, not to mention that I’m not an avid romance reader, so I went in ready for anything. I was pleasantly surprised by the story of Mia, a college kid who is trying to figure out herself and the world around her. To be honest, as a forty-something, she frustrated the hell out of me, which connected me to the book even more- bringing me back to being young and unsure of who I was at twenty years old. Her uncertainty and attempts to live her life for herself engaged me and resonated with the girl we all used to be. When she meets Sunshine, he becomes a steadying force in her turbulent existence. He is an old soul, a caretaker, and meets her exactly where she is. This will they/won’t they story kept me engrossed in the novel, skipping my own responsibilities at home to see what happened at the end. I would highly recommend this read and can’t wait to see what this new author does next.

I read this book in 3 hours. This debut novel by Leigh Sharp was beautifully written. I absolutely adored Sunshine and how he was soo patient and understanding with Mia. He knew he loved her the first time he met her and he was patient and kind and let her set the pace of their relationship. He didn’t try to push her and accepted her as his friend even though he wanted more. I loved that about him. He was always making sure that Mia felt safe and comfortable.

This was a great friends to lovers story. I cannot wait to read more books written by Leigh.

Favorite quote: I want to be with you. I want to hang out with you and hold you and kiss you and tell you over and over again what a spectacular person you are. I want to show you how breathtakingly beautiful you are. I want you to meet my sister and show you off to my friends. I want to be on stage and see you in the audience. I just want you, Mia. In every way I can have you.

Thank you Leigh Sharp for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

I was lucky enough to read this book as an arc and I fell into this story as soon as I started reading it. Mia and Sunshine (the two main characters) captured my heart in so many ways. It is not your typical HEA but the journey they go on to get to the HEA is so worth the ride. This is the author’s debut novel and I love her type of writing. She made me feel like I was living this story right along with the characters. That is my favorite kind of book. To me books are the ultimate escape from the daily grind of life and I want to feel the emotions as I read them. This is definitely one of those books!!!! Please do yourself a favor and read it.

Sunshine, a musical theater student who deserves a spot on everyone’s book boyfriend list, treated every woman with the utmost respect and love, making them feel like they were on top of the world.

Mia, a college student juggling her studies and coming to terms with her past while navigating the complexities of romance, always prioritized others over herself. However, she found solace in Sunshine’s guidance, learning to prioritize her own needs and deserve love and respect.

The friendship between Mia, Skye, Aubrey, and Sunshine was truly remarkable. Their love and support for each other were heartwarming and brought tears to my eyes.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster ride, filled with the ups and downs of friendship and love. It was a perfect way to heal and find solace in the power of love.

I cannot wait to read more by Leigh Sharp!!

Tropes: friends to lovers, MMC hero, emotional scars, different worlds, will they won’t they, hands off my…

ARC REVIEW: We all need a friendship like that of Mia and Sunshine. 🩵 As young 20 somethings, in college, both MCs are finding themselves through life’s ups and downs. Having a loving & supportive friendship makes them all the more bearable.

This is the sweet coming of age story of Mia (FMC) finding herself, what she loves and who.

Burdened by the ending of her prior relationship, relocating, & transferring schools, all with no parental support, Mia works to rebuild her life one day at a time.

Despite, or maybe because of, his own life curveballs, Sunshine (MMC) becomes her closest confidant, biggest supporter & ultimate protector.

Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. The character development and the rich, layered details made me feel like a fly on the wall in every scene. Mia and Sunshine’s love? Truly one for the books (pun fully intended). I enjoyed every moment of this story—every page felt like slipping deeper into a world I didn’t want to leave.

Eeeeek! This story was so cute! Mia is a people pleaser, and Sunshine is the complete opposite. I absolutely fell in love with both of them. Because they were such complete opposites, they worked so perfectly together. This book was a breath of fresh air and fun because of different the two of them were. I loved the characters, there were so well written. And the story itself was sweet, fun, steamy. I enjoyed this book so much!

I received this as an ARC and I’m leaving a voluntary review.

*Unwind* by Leigh Sharp is a sweet, emotionally engaging contemporary romance that mostly delivers on its promises of real character growth, tender romantic development, and relatable life challenges — earning it a polished four-star rating in my view.

The story introduces Mia, a woman in her early twenties trying to rebuild her life after ending an engagement, moving states, and shifting career paths. Mia’s journey isn’t just about falling in love again; it’s about rediscovering who she is outside of others’ expectations. This fresh start feels genuine, and Mia’s struggles — from insecurity to trauma recovery — give the narrative emotional weight that most light romances don’t attempt.

Opposite her is Sunshine Parker, a musical theater major who is exactly the kind of love interest readers will swoon for: patient, supportive, and authentically kind. Sharp crafts Sunshine with real heart — he listens, he understands, and he lets Mia grow at her own pace. Their slow-burn friendship-to-romance arc is the highlight of the book, striking just the right balance between sweet chemistry and meaningful emotional connection.

Sharp also deserves credit for creating a relatable supporting cast — characters like Skye and Aubrey bring warmth, humor, and grounded perspectives that enrich the world around Mia and Sunshine without ever feeling like filler. Their presence helps bring out different facets of the protagonists and keeps the narrative lively.

While *Unwind* shines in emotional depth and character chemistry, at times the pacing can feel uneven. A few plot beats lean more predictable than groundbreaking, and some thematic elements — like the handling of Mia’s trauma — are powerful but occasionally under-explored within the story’s romantic framework. Nonetheless, these are minor notes in an otherwise compelling and heartfelt tale.

*Unwind* isn’t just a cute romance — it’s a story about personal growth, healing, and the courage to choose yourself first. Fans of character-driven contemporary romance with genuine emotional stakes will find a lot to love here, and while it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it does give readers an authentic, feel-good experience with depth and heart.

Super special thanks to Leigh Sharp for an advanced copy of Unwind in exchange for my honest review.
“He built me a bookshelf. This man, who I’ve denied myself of for months built me this f**king bookshelf.”
Mia Scott recently went through a terrible break-up, uprooted her entire life, and wanted some place quiet to start over. Sunshine Parker enters stage left and destroys every concept of quiet for Mia. He is, however, the best kind of distraction that Mia needs.
Unwind is a college love story that focuses on Mia and Sunshine’s slow burn romance. Mia is suffering from mental illness and trauma throughout the story and finding it a challenge to trust that Sunshine has real feelings for her. Throughout the story, Sunshine proves himself to be emotionally mature beyond his years as he pursues Mia, settling for just friendship so he still has her in his life. This man has the absolute patience of a saint as he waits for Mia to manage her own demons and struggles while still being there to support her 1000% through her story. After a traumatic event that leads Mia to spending way more time with Sunshine than she thought she could handle, their romance continues to blossom. Sunshine wants nothing more than for Mia to be involved in his life, his family’s life, and be his number one. I truly appreciate the vision the author had for Sunshine as a man who is emotionally mature, has communication skills and obsession with his woman in the best, non-creepy way imaginable. Mia is struggling and overcoming her own battles as Sunshine waits on the sideline. Seeing Mia’s emotional growth throughout the book makes me learn to love her dearly and appreciate her. I think everyone has a little bit of Mia in themselves and can relate to her. That is what makes me love her. Relatability is likeability of a character to me, as a general reader. This is one of those feel-good college romances with characters wise above their years and I highly recommend it!

This is a debut novel by Lee Sharp. This was a really good storyline that was deeper than just surface level. There are some heavy subject matters within this book, especially as Mia and Sunshine’s relationship got closer and stronger. Mia‘s emotional growth was really beautiful to witness. The author did a wonderful job of conveying all the emotions throughout the book. This is how a love story should be. Very realistic and even a little sad just because most people do not get this kind of true love. Overall, it was a very good book and I will read more from Leigh Sharp.

Swoon-worthy & Beautifully written

I cannot express enough how important it is to heal properly from past trauma and move on and find your true self and happiness. And, this book demonstrates this BEAUTIFULLY!!!

Mia’s story of healing and finding a way to love and trust someone again is so inspiring. And Sunshine is the most AMAZING, supportive, thoughtful, patient, compassionate, & talented guy. AND, the fact that he is a musical theater major!!!!! SWOOOONNN!!! I swear, I audibly gasped and said “awwwwwe” a MILLION times! This book gave me all the warm & fuzzy feels.

The friend group was so relatable and I laughed out loud to many moments in the story. Skye is so much fun and you can feel the love and support of Mia warming you through the pages. Having the support of people who truly care about you is so important and that was illustrated brilliantly in this book.

Not to mention, the plot twist!!!!! Loved it!!! All in all, I throughly enjoyed this read and I can see myself reading it again just for the giant smile it put on my face.

Mia is a powerful example of how women often love deeply and selflessly, always striving to please, yet sometimes end up broken in the process. Her story reflects the struggle of learning to trust again after trauma; how fear can surface even when someone truly wants to love, guide, and cherish you.
Sunshine serves as an incredible support system for Mia, and I absolutely adored his character. He’s the kind of partner every reader dreams of: kind, patient, ambitious, respectful, and genuinely loving. (Minor spoiler: he built her a bookshelf…enough said!) His warmth and sincerity practically leap off the page.
Skye, on the other hand, is the quintessential best friend every woman needs. She’s full of life, loyal, and endlessly relatable. I found myself connecting each of the characters in this book to people in my own life, which made the story even more enjoyable and emotionally resonant.
As for James and Mia’s mother; let’s just say they won’t be winning any “Favorite Character” awards from me.
Overall, I loved this book from beginning to end. It’s heartfelt, relatable, and beautifully written, a story that reminds readers of the power of healing, love, and genuine support.

ARC Review
Unwind by Leigh Sharp
Releases November 18

✨Fierce FMC
✨Cinnamon Roll MMC
✨Friends to Lovers
✨College Life

This is my first ARC and I thought Unwind was effortlessly enchanting. I found myself attached to Mia’s character and needed to know more. She was discovering who she was while trying to heal from trauma. Sunshine was literally a breathe of fresh air. I thought Leigh Sharp did an awesome job on writing the gentleness he had towards Mia. Mia’s inner turmoil and insecurities were relatable. I enjoyed Mia’s character growth and Sunshine’s constant support. This book was a slow burn friends to lovers romance. The slow burn was worth everything in the end. There’s definitely a serious arch to it but the friendly banter and playful flirting definitely gives it a good comic relief. I would definitely read more books from this author. I also wouldn’t mind a reread of Unwind ❤️
