In The Day That Turns Your Life Around, Jim Rohn, renowned business philosopher and motivational speaker, presents a profound exploration of the power of decision-making in transforming lives. Rohn vividly describes this transformative experience, comparing it to releasing a helium balloon that, once gone, cannot be retrieved.
It's a call to seize each moment and make it count.
Rohn delves into his own transformative experiences, recounting how he shifted from a life of broken dreams and financial struggles to achieving remarkable wealth and success. The book is filled with Rohn's classic wisdom, uniquely presented and deeply personal, guiding readers through the process of initiating and sustaining life changes.
Rohn emphasizes the significance of the internal battle that accompanies decision-making, illustrating how crucial victories are won in the mind first.
Moving beyond just the concept of faith, Rohn offers practical advice on how to actively change any life aspect, focusing on the importance of starting, no matter how small the first step might be.
The Day That Turns Your Life Around is a blueprint for personal transformation. Rohn's storytelling, infused with wisdom and warmth, acts as a catalyst for readers to recognize their own 'life-changing day' and harness its power. Loy Machedo’s Book Review - The Day That Turns Your Life Around by Jim Rohn
Author Introduction Jim Rohn’s journey to change his life began the day he didn’t have 2 dollars to give a Girl Scout who knocked on his door step. He had to lie to her and then close the door on her face. That incident left him feeling so horrible inside, he decided he would change his life forever. And from then on, a broken down, penniless, debt ridden young man transformed his life into the legend he is known as today.
Program Introduction This Educational Program is a collection of his private and public talks of his beliefs and philosophies on what he defines as success. What I loved most about his talk was not just the priceless nuggets of wisdom he was sharing, but the simple honest facts that he brought out – That Tony Robbins became his student at the age of 17 (can you believe that!), and how he had 13 offices in 13 different cities and finally he decided enough is enough – he had no offices and no staff but a virtual assistant to help him out. It made the talk very real and intriguing.
Program Content This all-time great classic comes in 6 CD’s that divides itself into 12 lessons namely: • Session One - "Today is a New Day" • Session Two - "The Major Ingredients of Life Change" • Session Three and Session Four - "How to Make a Life, Not Just a Living" - • Session Five - "The Pro vs. The Amateur; Keys to Thriving in Tough Times" • Session Six - "Financial Strategies for a New Age" • Session Seven - "How to Protect Your Time" • Session Eight - "Where the True Wealth Lies" • Session Nine - "The Goal Setting Workshop" • Session Ten - "Success Can Be Simple" • Session Eleven - "The Magic of a Mentor" • Session Twelve - "Leadership Skills for the 21st Century"
Overall Analysis There are some educational programs which make into the best seller list and then eventually disappear within a period of time. And then there are the timeless classics which even vanish. Jim Rohn’s ‘The Day That Turns Your Life Around’ is a great classic that I believe you must not only hear, you must pass on his timeless wisdom from one generation to the next.
Overall Rating A Masterpiece that you must gift your family and young ones. I highly recommend it. A 10 out of 10.
Like all Jim Rohn's books, this is a great collection of wisdom and practical advice on how to understand the role of money in our lives, and how to use it as a tool at our disposal.
This book is about those moments in life when we say: "enough! This is it, no more". We all have those moments, and those times, are life changing. These moments are the most honest ones, when we are finally confronted with ourselves and we are able to see how far from who we truly are we have gone. This is when we open our eyes and see that we have lost our integrity along with the sense of who we are, and thus, we need a change, pronto!
For Jim, it was the day that he had to lie to girl scouts who were coming to his door to sell him cookies; Jim had a job and a family but did not have $2 to buy the cookies. The fact that he had to lie to cover up how bad he was doing financially woke him up, and after that, he started making changes that lead him to become a millionaire 5 years later.
Being confronted with the truth, the reality of how things truly are, and coming out of our denial is always life changing. And, Jim explains that the first thing that he had to change in order to come out of the rut he was in, was his philosophy. From believing that there was no way out of the state he was in, he had to start believing that everyone has the same opportunities, and that we all can become successful; the trick is to become attractive to success and then success will come to you. Ideas like this one and more, changed his thinking, and after his thinking was renewed, he made confident steps toward financial freedom.
Jim is not a preacher or someone who delivers Christian sermons, but he draws many examples from the bible. One of his maxim that stuck with me is the "Beware of what you become pursuing what you want", the analogy that he used for this statement is the example of Judas, the one who kept the money among the 12 apostles, and the one who betrayed Jesus. Ultimately, Judas hang himself, after he truly understood what he had done. But, the point is that wanting to become financially independent should never be for the wrong reasons, or obtained by cheating, stealing, compromising, by using shenanigans, or alienating and losing important relationships with the people we care about. On the contrary, becoming wealthy should be about wanting to obtain the freedom to give to others and to add to someone else's life as well as one's own.
I must say that among the messages that I have heard about becoming wealthy this is the healthiest one. Too many financial freedom speakers concentrate on the money and all that one can do for itself with the riches. To me, this is small thinking; becoming rich just for the sake of becoming rich is not a good philosophy and people who do that rarely find happiness. On the contrary, becoming rich to enrich one's life and others is a practice that exceeds the value of the revenue accumulated.
Another quote that directly spoke to me was the "we go the direction we face" - it seems like a no-brain quote, but If I'd ask you "where are you going to be in 5 years from now?" what would you say? Let's just look at where we are facing and what we are doing; that will tell us! And, the best thing about it is that if we don't like where we are going, we can change direction. Let's just face something else and steer the boat towards it to let the sails be filled with the winds that will take us a different direction.
Great book, very inspiring and filled with truth! i could not put it down once I started reading it.
The pure gold that's found in this audio program is genius! Life changing. Too many take aways to list, but will try: Why would the farmer put the plow in the ground in the spring if he couldn't see the vision of the Harvest when the summer is finished? You must have faith which is the ability to see something which does not yet exist. With your current actions, where will you arrive in five years? The answer is you will either arrive in a well-designed destination, or an undesigned destination and in five years you don't want to arrive in an undesigned destination. Direction determines DESTINATION For things to change you have to change. You don't have to know it all before you put it into action. Start immediately while you are learning. Greatest source of happiness comes from within. Its tragic when we are unhappy with ourselves. Learn to discipline your Disappointments! Purpose is stronger than object. Focus on BECOMING AN ATTRACTIVE PERSON! Who do you have to become to get what it is you want?
If you're interested in personal development, this is a classic definitely worth checking out. My favorite sections were the sections about goals, "it's not what you get, but what you become that counts", sowing and reaping.
It's interesting to me now just how many times I've read or listened to the information in this program. It's been rehashed so many times... Yet, there's still so much fecund ground. It felt like getting to the source, but also reminded me of how powerful the ideas are to have been repackaged so many times by so many successful people.
Jim has less of the snappy quips that Zig has, but his are better. Rohn's metaphors and usage of story is amazing--and the messages behind them are even better.
Overall content was good. It felt a little jumbled. Kind of like if someone were to take a bunch of YouTube clips and compile them together. Did not feel like one of Rohn's normal style.
God bless this mans soul - This audio program was a brilliant collection of some of his best teachings given at various speaking engagements - and as usual with any of Jim Rohns material - it was excellent and I especially like how he includes the teaching of God and his scriptures when getting his lesson across unlike others who disconnect Gods blessings and wisdom with anything to do with Self Help which in my opinion is foolish thing assume.

Interesting concepts of self-development. My only complaint really is that it lacks form. It's just a wild mass of snippets of great information, but I think if it had been intentionally structured an presented in one execution it would have had the making of an excellent book instead of a "Best of Jim Rohn" mix. Still, lots of great ideas and stories. I enjoyed it a lot.
Higgy magadban! Vagy inkább hidd el, hogy az 50-es évek Amerikájában egy középosztálybeli fehér férfi milliomos lehetett, mert hitt magában. 5/5, elhiszem. Rags to riches a nagy fenét. Közhelyes, messze túl általános, elrugaszkodott hasonlatok, keresztény duma.
It was like we were sitting in his living room having a personal conversation. Great lessons and wisdom in here. I will have to definitely listen again to this one.
Session One - "Today is a New Day" - Jim shares with you the day that turned his life around, and talks about life's adventures - the little devil on one shoulder and the little angel on the other - both giving advice. What voice do you listen to? He ends the session with a story about "making something out of nothing."
Session Two - "The Major Ingredients of Life Change" - Jim talks about emotions that can change your life, and shares some philosophies to live by including; "Profits are better than wages - Wages make you a living, profits can make you a fortune", and one of my favorites "Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better."
Session Three and Session Four - "How to Make a Life, Not Just a Living" - Jim's short list on the good life, and words of wisdom including "Beware of what and who you become, in pursuit of what you want."
Session Five - "The Pro vs. The Amateur; Keys to Thriving in Tough Times" - Jim shares his greatest setbacks and what he did to bounce back - and, by showing the difference between the professional and the amateur response to problems - shows how you can do it too.
Session Six - "Financial Strategies for a New Age" - Jim's philosophical foundation for financial independence, and his suggestions for achieving wealth along with giving and sharing. Stuff they don't teach in school, and good advice parents should pass along to their kids.
Session Seven - "How to Protect Your Time" - Time management essentials to help you reach your goals. How to avoid "Being online but off-track".
Session Eight - "Where the True Wealth Lies" - Identifying your core values, nurturing your "inner circle" and the challenge of balancing work and family life and becoming a World-class" parent and grandparent.
Session Nine - "The Goal Setting Workshop" - Great session. Jim actually takes you through a personal goal setting workshop from one of his weekend seminars.
Session Ten - "Success Can Be Simple" - Jim's simple approach to life learned from "Things my mama taught me" and how he uses hard and fast decisions to simplify his life.
Session Eleven - "The Magic of a Mentor" - Although I've never had the pleasure of meeting Jim personally, through his books and programs he has been one of my mentors for many years, and I can attest to the "Magic of a Mentor" he discusses in this session. He goes on to show how you too can be a mentor, and make a difference in the lives of others.
Session Twelve - "Leadership Skills for the 21st Century" - The skills of leadership wisdom presented with witty sayings like "Don't expect a pear tree to bear apples" and ending with the story of the frog and the scorpion ("that's what scorpions do").
Truly amazing and lifechanging book. Everyone should read/listen to it!!!!!
- "Decide what you want and act like it was yours." Humans are the only living things that can change their lives by deciding to do it.
- "For things to change, you need to change. Don't wish it to be easier, wish to be better. Don't wish for less problems, wish for more skills". Accept the challenge in the pursuit of wisdom. Find the knowledge to solve the problems. "Humans can do remarkable things, no matter".
- Curiosity and the pursuit of knowledge is important. Be curios about everything; humans, banking, society, politics, science, physics. Try to comprehend how the world works. Continue to do this all life. "Be a student, not a follower". Read all the books. Learn as much as possible. Being broke is bad, but being stupid is even worse.
- Keep the balance. Never become uncivilizised. Show the best out of yourself and let people see that.
1. Productivity. If you don't produce, you will not be happy. 2. Good friends. Don't be careless not that point. 3. Spirituality. Study, practice and teach. 4. Don't miss anything Go to the concerts, to the sports events. Don't miss the play. Live life to its fullest. "If you live well, you will earn well". Try not to miss opportunities. When you meet successful people, do the most out of that.
- "Life does not give us what we need, it gives us what we deserve".
- Put your future into God. Believe, pray, and have faith. God wants to help you, so let him. Trust God and let him control.
- Give away ten percent of your income. Be generous. You will make the world a better place while you feel better.
- Set goals. Rewiew them often. "How come you are up so early? If you were gonna meet who I'm gonna meet, you'd be up early. If you were headed where I'm headed, you'd be up early. If it was stacking up for you as it is stacking up for me, you'd be up early. "
- Use a journal. Keep notes. Write everything down on paper in a notebook. Take pictures along the time. It only takes fraction of a second but it keeps memories.
- Write down the 20 closest people to you, and write to them. Let them know that you admire them. Write down every wisdom and value.
- Use past experiences as capital, which you can invest in your future.
- Skills: become good in sales, knowing many langauges, recruting, setting goals, public speaking, leadership, the ability to inspire. "What can you do for the people? How can I serve many?"
- Do it over and over. Become comfortable in the uncomfortable. Do what puts you in discomfort. It's hard the first time, but then it becomes easier.
- "Learn to be bold but not to be a bully". "Be a thinker, but not only a thinker" "Become thoughtful, but not lazy". RESULTS is the NAME OF THE GAME.
This is another classic Jim Rohn program. I like Jim Rohn's concepts because they're simple, analogical, and he repeated them throughout his programs. This helps me memorize and ingrain them in my mind, which then helps me rely on them during difficult situations instead of my default reaction being to get frustrated, upset, or anxious.
Interesting book, that I assume has been created and compiled posthumously. It isn’t as good as other books that Jim wrote whilst alive - where I think he was more considered in language used. The reason why I’ve given 4 stars and not 3 is that there are a few facts that I’ve never heard Jim mention about his life before.
