What’s more dangerous than holding the life of a bratva boss in your hands? Giving him a glimpse of your secrets, a taste of your past, and a leash around your heart.
Anatoly Baryshev came to take my life, until he learns that he isn’t the only one. Obsessed with finding out why, he takes me back to his mansion in chains. Not as a prisoner, but as his captive bride.
He tells me it’s because this is the only way to keep me alive. But protection comes at an unthinkable price. A ring on my finger. A crown on my head. A place to kneel by his feet.
For one long dark night after another, he’ll haunt me through its halls before he breaks me in his bed.
And only then does he offer me something more than control, degradation, and lust…
Something that satisfies my heart’s darkest desire. Something I’ll beg him for on my hands and knees.
That’s when I’ll find out just how much further I can fall. And how tightly he’s already wrapped his leash around my heart.
Because the truth is…
Becoming Anatoly Baryshev’s possession might break me. But surviving as his obsession will destroy me.
Author's His Darkest Obsessionis a dark mafia romance. Features scenes and topics that may be triggering. Reader discretion is advised.
For a bratva novel, this had just the right amount of action, romance, tragedy, and violence. I'm really looking forward to picking up this story again to finish this duet. That, and Lola is an unhinged psycho.
I enjoyed the story, but there were so many grammatical errors that should have been caught prior to publication. Love Anatoly’s character. Indigo is a bit whiny, but that’s expected due to what happened to her. She seemed to be getting her strength back by the end of the book. I’m looking forward to reading the next book for the conclusion to their story,
i’m sorry but i hated this book. had no buildup AT ALL. you’re trying to tell me that she is the only family her sister has left and she loves her sister more than life yet…..disappeared and gets married without saying a peep or insisting her sister is there for the wedding? and to keep her safe? no way. she’s been away from her minor sister who she has custody of for a WEEK now and hasn’t even mentioned her at all. so unbelievable and stupid she has only known this man for 2 seconds

Indigo, “Miel’s”, aka Amelia Taylor has been trying to lay low since her parents were murdered 2 years prior. At least she thinks she has been laying low, that all changes when Anatoly shows up. Subsequently destroying her carefully curated new life.
His Darkest Obsession has to be one of my favorite of Brooke Wilders books. Cannot wait to read book 2.
Brook Wilder’s books always keep me on the edge of my seat! And I love it! From the very beginning of His Darkest Obsession I couldn’t wait to find out what happens next. Twists and turns you don’t see coming. Kidnapping, murder for hire, family feuding, evil mother in law, revenge, surprise pregnancies, jilted fiancés— Part one of the Baryshev Bratva story has all of it. Indigo and Anatoly are HOT together! I can’t wait to find out what happens in Part 2, Her Darkest Possession.
Indigo Taylor is still healing from the weight of her past when she meets Anatoly Brachev, a ruthless yet enigmatic Bratva pakhan fighting to hold onto both his power and his sense of self. When Anatoly proposes marriage as a way to keep her safe, Indigo is thrust into the grey world of the Bratva. As she struggles to find her place in his ruthless empire, she soon realizes she isn’t fighting alone…Anatoly is right beside her, protecting her every step of the way.
I really adored Anatoly so much because from the start, he was so protective over Indigo. From defending her honor to constantly bringing her comfort and safety, all the “my wife”-ing was so heartwarming to read. Anatoly was a true leader because of how level-headed yet ruthless he was.
My babygirl Indigo, ugh, my heart broke for everything she had to go through, but I was also so proud of how she held herself together for her sister. She’s just trying to survive every day and has been through so much, but that only shows how strong she truly is. Despite the adversity, she still sought to be a support for Anatoly and to become the wife and queen she needed to be.
“Our heartbeats slow until they beat as one. The electricity between us doesn’t diminish. If anything, it becomes more intense.”
I knew going in that this one was going to be a dark duet, but I’m not gonna lie, I felt like the darker tones really added depth and heart to Indigo and Anatoly’s relationship. The contrast between their brutal world and the light they brought into each other’s lives showed how deep and solid their love truly was. Brook’s writing has been on a whole other level lately, and she never fails to amaze me with her new releases. Dark mafia romance is my main genre, so I see a lot of “pakhan falls for the girl and gets soft” stories, and they often blend together. But very few stand out the way this one does. With Anatoly’s gentle yet firm nature and Indigo’s strength and drive, they really made the perfect couple.
This book ended on a cliffhanger that had me on edge, and I’m so excited to dive into the final half of the duet to see Indigo and Anatoly finally get their happily ever after.
This was an interesting story. I did enjoy it and I'm excited for the conclusion but I wish it had been a little less repetitive. I also would have liked a little deeper backstory on Anatoly and Indigo. We got fed little bits throughout the story but not having much upfront made it harder to connect to the characters. We first meet them and then almost instantly they ended up married without enough anticipation and angst.
I liked Anatoly and that he was so honest. He made no apologies for who he was and he didn't try to hide his intentions. He seemed like a good guy underneath his gruff exterior and I liked that he really wanted to do right by Indigo.
I like Indigo but I feel like she gave in too quickly and easily. She didn't put up much of a fight and then quickly became infatuated with Anatoly. That was all she ended up thinking about which is where the repetitiveness came in. I did like her connection with Svetlana and Amara and how caring she was with both.
The writing was very good and grabbed my attention. It was descriptive and did a nice job of building the tension once qe get to the meat of the story. It's intriguing and has me excited to see how this all works out. If you enjoy Bratva romances then you should definitely check this one out!
Anatoly and Indigo's story was good at at time when I am experiencing a dry spell. It was well written, a bit repetitive for my taste but overall the storyline and plot moved along vs., stagnating. The author kept the story interesting with secondary characters that added to the drama and to the suspense as she weaved the danger that these character's represented to both Anatoly and Indigo in the next book. There are plenty of "bad characters" in this story waiting for their time to pounce.
I would have preferred a bigger dive into Anatoly and Indigo's backstory, but was given enough to tie the story and plot together in this book. Anatoly's and Indigo's attraction for one another was a bit quick, but also had enough push and pull and indecision weaved into it which made it believable.
Ms. Wilder is a good author that does a solid job of giving the reader a twist or different perspective in a genre that can be so repetitive. I have become jaded with stories that are the same plot, same events in this genre that continue to be published even though hundreds have come before them. When an author chooses to mix things up or adds a different kind of heroine or anti-hero, or tweak's the plot, you've got my attention.
Right from the very first few chapters this deeply intriguing and fascinating mafia romance had me positively hooked and truly consumed with Anatoly and Indigo. Their pulse-pounding and undeniable chemistry is intense and hot. Together these characters are pure FIRE!! Anatoly is the powerful, controlling, dominating type we are all drawn too, when it comes to a dangerous and sexy man. As for Indigo, her character is so strong , witty and endearing. Escaping into Anatoly and Indigo’s world was highly captivating, enticing, and entertaining. This story is filled with impressive twists and turns, family, betrayal and drama, including a little revenge, and a lot of sensual alluring moments. So if you want to lose yourself in a dark mafia romance that will keep you fully enthralled and mesmerized with it interesting characters and highly addictive storyline, you will be thoroughly satisfied with Anatoly and Indigo’s remarkably exhilarating story. FYI, this book ends with a riveting and gripping cliffhanger!!
This duet wasn't on my radar at all until I read a sample and then read it completely. I soaked up this roller coaster ride of a book. I soaked up all the information it had to offer. I loved every second of it because Anatoly and Indigo were such a fun couple and I'm really glad he did what he did so that he didn't have to marry Lola because that would've been loveless and not worth the headache she would've caused him. She also didn't care about anyone but herself, so she would've either killed him and his brothers to control the Bratva or he would've wiped out her entire family within a year or a few months because she would've caused him so many problems. At least with him choosing Indigo she cared about his family and she cared about everything but herself and she's a quick learner when it comes to learning about the Bratva. She's had to have come up with some quick-thinking skills especially after how Indigo and Amara's parents were killed and the need to survive. Will more than definitely reread at some point.
Indigo keeps herself so guarded, and I genuinely admire her for it. She’s been through enough to know what she won’t allow again, both for herself and for her sister. Even with her walls up, you can feel the emotion simmering beneath the surface — and watching her finally let herself fall was beautiful.
Anatoly’s need to protect Indigo and give her justice made me melt. At first, he doesn’t even understand why he feels so drawn to her, but his determination to make things right and his willingness to give her anything she needs were everything.
The depth of his obsession is intense in all the best ways — dark, consuming, and passionate — yet still rooted in respect. He never pushes too far, even though you know he’d do absolutely anything for her. The tension just keeps building, and I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it.
But never let me hear you talk about my wife like that again.
I don't know Maybe it was me This chick was traumatized 2 years ago by her horrible boyfriend and he forced her to have an abortion. Her inner monologue is all men lie & hurt you. But her thoughts when tge MMC shows up is "ive never felt so safe" what? Then promptly has a near panic attack when ge brings her to her new bedroom.
He kills more hitmen in her apt and just jors off a text to her sister to stay at a friend's. Why wouldn't he include protection for the sister?
Her " sasshaying ass" while sweeping the floor with a broom made me nearly dnf in the first few chapters. Let that visual sink in. Shes sweeping some hair off of a salons floor- just what kind of sweeping has her ass swining side to side like that? All i could think of was the sex scenes were gonna suck.
So the story is so good. That’s what kept me reading. The MMC I love!!! The reason for the 2 stars it’s our FMC. Omgosh I almost didn’t finish because of her! Tell me how she gives so much attitude to the MMC but to no one else. She doesn’t stick up for herself, all she does is whimper and let people hurt her. But gives the MMC hell. SMH. She didn’t grow as a person. She was so selfish I didn’t get it. I wish we would’ve had a better FMC then this story would’ve been amazing this book could have gotten 5 stars if it wasn’t for her!
Truthfully, the story wasn’t bad all in all. That being said, the book is in need of some serious proofreading and editing.
• Several times the timeline jumped and then jumped back a few paragraphs later
• Too many sentences missing words, incorrect grammar, etc.
• Too many times it felt like I read the same sentence, just worded differently.
There were other things as well, but I don’t really believe in tearing an author apart in a review and just leave it with they need to hire an editor and proofreader and do a major rewrite. Until then, I’m probably going to skip out on the next book, even if this one does end on a major cliffhanger.
And then those worlds collide with blood and bullets. This is Indigo and Anatoly's tumultuous story, full of magnetic attraction & passion, violence, coercion, an ironclad arrangement, life-changing secrets, vengeance, villains, abuse, emotional pain & turmoil. So many twists and turns! This book will have your heart pounding and your breath gasping. "It's like some twisted version of Downton Abbey where everyone's packing heat." I received this ARC from the very talented author Brook Wilder.
This is the story of Amelia Taylor until tragedy strikes and she becomes Indigo. She loses her mother and father and all she has left is her sister Amara. She works to take care of her sister and just survive, that is until she meets Anatoly, the Bravta Mafia king. Anatoly is set to kill Indie, that is until he finds out others are also trying. He decides to save her and find out why she is so important that someone wants her dead. Great book. You will find yourself rooting Indie on and praying for her escape from the Bravta. Must read triggers!!!
Without getting too spoiler-y, it is clear the MFC experienced some kind of SA and has been hiding away for years, only to turn into a complete perv when she meets the MMC (after a lot of murdery things that should truly give her pause). Literally, all her inner dialog is how attracted she is to him, how his touch makes her feel, what she wants him to do, and they've known each other for a matter of HOURS. And this goes on for pages and pages. So boring, ugh.
She has no brain cells left, just years worth of pent-up sexual frustration it seems.

This is a good book but hard to read at times. The scenes are spicy enough but they sometimes don't make sense in the parts where body parts are getting tangled. I also wish the FMC wasn't so back and forth on how strong she is. A good build up would of been better than the back and forth. Also Amara. Like how are you just gunna leave your little sister and not come for her or send someone for her knowing people are coming after you?
2.5⭐️ Started off pretty promising but overall this was a miss for me. It was pretty boring at times and I kinda hated that instant attraction like why are u already halfway in love and you JUST met 2 seconds agooooo. Also I’m not with all that smut every other page, I literally felt like I skipped half the book bc the smut was just tiresome. I started skimming at like 50% bc I just wanted to be done already. Wouldn’t reread
This book had a good story line. However, I only gave it 3 stars because discrepancy in timelines, grammar, and spelling took away from the story. For example - the chapter would state “Three Days Later” but then the characters would talk about specific events like it was just the day before or earlier the same day. Having to stop and think about the actual timeline detracted from enjoying the story.
The story is decent. Decent plot line. Decent progression. But did anyone actually edit this?? Typos, missing punctuation, incorrect grammar and tense, missing words, inconsistent timeliness.
It's great that people can publish so easily, but authors really need to do their due diligence and get a decent editor.
It was good. Some parts got long winded and details were forgotten like Indigo wakes up wearing a nightgown and then a little later he is pushing her jeans down. So many grammatical and spelling errors, English must not be the writers first language and I would fire the editor.
Ever been through such a traumatic experience the only way to move past it is to fully change yourself? Change your name. Change your hair. Hide your true identity. This girl has been through the worst parts of life. Some bow she is still moving forward. Some how she keeps putting others first. Damn. The Russian mafia is no joke
This book was very good. It has some left out or repeat words here and there (only reason for just 4 stars). I can't wait to read the next book with more of Indigo's story.
I was in the mood for a good Mafia romance and this one delivered. It's a duet, so it ends on a cliffhanger, but the story is really good. Anatoly falls for Indigo even though he wasn't supposed to and it's the tipping point for all the drama and suspense.
This is my first book by this author. I really enjoyed it, I'm looking forward to the next one. Great characters and interesting storyline. I had a hard time putting it down. Can't wait to see how this turns out. .
The amount of editing this book needs is insane. Misspelled words. Missing words. Incorrect words. Missing punctuation. The chapter heading “Three Days Ago” yet throughout the chapter she refers to the events as happening last night. It became distracting.
