5 stars for this short novella ⭐️ The ending completely threw me for a loop 🫨 I need more of Javi and Mildred ASAP! I love that it was set in Kenton, but like… why was her name Mildred?! 😭 I just know there’s more to their story. I’ve never been so invested in a vampire before 😂 and the mind-reading scenes had me cracking up because I knew he was hearing every single thought she had!

Nah because WHY would you do this to meeeee?! I need more! Like, 100 extra pages of details, please and thank you! So, Manny just found out she’s about to die, and she’s trying to live it up before her time’s up. Enter Javi—the man who once paid her complete dust, but now he’s suddenly interested. Hmmm. Anyway, the date happens, and they quickly realize they have so much in common. The date goes perfectly, and Javi’s already like, “Yep, I want her forever.” Manny, being the intelligent woman that she is, picks up on it immediately—and I loved that for her! But whew, I wanted and needed so much more from this story because I have QUESTIONS.I already suspected what Javi was, but something about it made me wonder if Manny might’ve been a love from his past life, reincarnated? It wasn’t super clear, but it felt like there was a deeper connection between them that went beyond the present. And then there’s Megan—shady boots! I knew she knew something. I thought she was just like Javi, but nope—she was just a hating-ass friend. That conversation between Javi and Manny should’ve been on-page, but I’ll admit the shock reveal still worked.
Overall, it’s an engaging story that kept me on my toes, but it definitely left me wanting more. I honestly think this could’ve been longer because there’s clearly more to uncover. Will there be a part two? Because I swear there’s some kind of history between Javi and Manny’s great-great-great-grandmother or something! Am I the only one who felt that?? Either way, I really liked this story and how the author put a unique spin on the lore. I can dig it. But seriously, I need answers—hello??? Author, can you hear me?! 😂

This one was short but packed full of feelings. We follow MFA student Mildred "Manny" Fuller (cause why did they name a baby Mildred) who just wants to have some fun time and maybe take a ride on a fine man Professor Javier Hudson delivered. Tall, sexy, and well spoken, exactly the type of man that’ll have you forgetting your syllabus 😏 Good thing she was never able to take his class.

For such a quick read, it took me through every emotion. I laughed, swooned, side eyed (because there is a backstory I need), and then it was over just as I was getting warmed up. It’s giving, I need more pages immediately.

4.5⭐ because Jessica made me feel all the things and roll my eyes at the same time in the best way possible.

This was a quick little read, a soft glide between worlds as I close the door on spooky season and step fully into Novella November. The pacing moved like breath—light, intentional, and just enough tension to keep me leaning forward. The characters didn’t simply walk through suspense; they danced in it, circling secrets and brushing up against danger with grace and grit. It was the kind of story you swallow in one sitting, blinking at the end because you didn’t realize how deeply you’d slipped into its shadows. A satisfying, atmospheric transition read, and exactly the energy I needed to carry me into this month of bite-sized storytelling.

This was a short and sexy novella! We have our main character Mildred who after receiving some horrible news about her health she decides to live life. She decides why not ask her professor Javi on a date and that date changes her life.

While super short this kept my attention the entire time reading and it left me wanting a full novel on them! I would recommend this one for anyone wanting a spooky time read.

This is my first book by this author and of course I would pick a Halloween novella. This was a really good short read. It was alot packed in this book and I definitely need more of Javi and Mannys story!
