Rate this book
One man against an army. The kind of odds Bob likes.

When Bob hires on as a bodyguard to pay for his friend's medical bills, he expects routine security work in rural Washington State. Instead, he walks into a deadly conspiracy that stretches from vegan commune Jericho to the highest floors of Seattle's Space Needle.

At first, the job seems simple – protect Jericho’s idealistic founder Toby from ruthless businessman Jessup Cross who wants to reopen a coal mine on the commune’s land. But it soon becomes clear that Cross has some other hidden agenda – and he’s willing to kill for it.

Teaming up with Wanapum tribal member Dexter, Bob battles Cross’s private army through train station shootouts, arson attacks, and a terrifying confrontation six hundred feet above Seattle.

Then, when Toby is kidnapped, Bob must infiltrate the disused mine complex and face a gang of brutal thugs led by a former German mercenary.

In his most dangerous mission yet, Bob knows he only has one chance to save Toby, stop the mining operation, and prevent an ecological nightmare that could devastate the Pacific Northwest.

Kill Chain - the tenth in the thrilling Rogue Warrior action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Jason Kasper, Jack Carr, and Lee Child.

Bob is back. Kill Chain by Ian Loome is another trouble filled problem that our Rogue Warrior has to deal with. He is constantly underfunded and on the run, not really trusting his old employer. This time he is supposed to help keep a back to the nature guy safe from some threating people that wants to establish a mine on old indian land. It is as always well written and Bob deals with stuff in his own way. That means swift justice for bad people. I do have a good time reading these books and can recommend that you try them. This one is out in stores on the 26th of October and I also must thank Inkubator Books and Netgalley for letting me read this advance copy.

Kill Chain Ian Loome
Rogue Warrior #10

~ Intense, immersive, action-packed thrill-ride from beginning to end ~ Great addition to the series ~ Can’t wait to see what happens next ~

What I liked:
* Bob Singleton: ex-military, ex-CIA assassin, recovering alcoholic, strong, lethal, has his own moral compass, intelligent, protective, good friend, strategic thinker, survivor, cautious, intriguing, tenacious, resolute, pays his debts, seems to want to slow down but never given a break
* The way Bob adapts and adjusts in and out of life-threatening action scenes
* Juno Grady: strong, resilient, offered Bob a ride, able to defend herself, offered Bob a ride, connected Bob with a job he couldn’t turn down
* Dexter Waptasyi: Wanapum tribal member, wise, good man, willing to fight for the environment, believes that Smohalla (Mother Earth) is important, works with Bob in this book
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* That I was drawn into the story and cared about the outcome
* Being able to thoroughly detest the bad guys and wish Karma (or Bob) would find them
* That the local community, for the most part, seemed like good people dealing with a snake in their midst
* That Jessup Cross was thwarted and dealt with along with several people on his payroll
* What Bob found out while researching to keep his client safe
* Thinking about Bob’s plans to go to Chicago and see people he cares about – and wondering what will happen on the way there

What I didn’t like
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about how evil, wicked, murderous, and amoral some of the characters were
* Thinking about how expendable human life is and how miserable some of the characters’ lives must have been

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the Inkubator Books, Booksprout, NetGalley and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Bob Singleton, a former CIA agent, is hired for a short but highly paid job: to protect a man named Toby Moore for two weeks. Toby is an independent spirit attempting to start a new settlement called Jericho.

This small piece of land is at the centre of a major conflict. First, Native American tribes claim the property as their ancestral homeland. Second, a powerful businessman, Jessup Cross, wants the land for what he claims is a coal mining operation.

The true goal, however, is much more valuable: experts believe the ground holds a rich vein of gold worth millions.

But this hidden wealth holds a terrible secret. Mining the gold would accidentally release deadly arsenic. This poison would contaminate the entire area, including the groundwater and a nearby river, making them toxic for decades. It would also kill everyone working on the project.

The story follows Bob's dangerous journey after he accepts this assignment. He quickly finds himself in constant peril, defending both himself and Toby from ruthless killers. These dangerous individuals are determined to seize the land that Toby is occupying and will eliminate anyone who stands in their way.

Ultimately, the book struggles to tell a clear, consistent story. It tries to hold the reader’s attention by throwing Bob into a rapid series of tense incidents. Bob uses all his special skills and spy training to keep himself and Toby alive while simultaneously fighting to prevent the environmental disaster from unfolding.

In the end, the book is not worth the effort. Even fans of Bob Singleton will find the plot lacks originality and doesn't offer anything fresh or exciting.

I received an ARC through "Booksprout" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story begins with Bob hitchhiking trying to get to Royal City. He stopped at a truck stop expecting to be picked up by a trucker, but instead had to move on and was eventually picked up by a young woman. As they were traveling, a pickup truck began following and soon overtook them and tried ramming as well as tossing a molotov cocktail. Bob and Juno, the young woman, went into an abandoned barn, It seems the men following had a thing for Juno and there came a standoff between Bob and the men. Bob and Juno were able to escape and they eventually made a stop in Jericho. Bob eventually stopped at another town to look for employment. Unfortunately there wasn't anything available. Eventually Bob was told of a job where he would be paid to protect Toby, the owner of Jericho. Bob wasn't looking for that type of work, but because of what he would be paid he decided to take.

What Bob expected to be an easy job, turned out that while he was protecting Toby, it got very dangerous. The issue was that there was someone else that wanted Toby's land. In the end there was a battle between Bob and this other person.

To learn who the other person was and why he wanted the land, what the reason for Bob taking the job and how everything worked out in the end, then you need to read this book, you wont be sorry!

The author does a great job crafting his characters and some of the dialogue has a hint of humor. Bob is determined to keep a low profile, get a job and stay on the straight and narrow. All this despite the fact he has to stay off the radar as problems from his past are looking for him with bad intentions.

Bob is offered a job to keep Toby safe which he turns down as he is planning to move on. He has already had a scrimmage with some locals that won’t forget him in a hurry. Then Bob gets a call from a friend with medical issues and has been let go so no insurance. Bob reconsiders the job offer as the money will cover his friends medical.

An easy job….not so fast. Toby is on property that is of interest to the local tribal members, mix in a closed mine, old history of mysterious deaths covered up connected to the mine, illegal drilling and Bob winds up in the middle.

The story evolves pulling all the story lines and characters building to the ending. I recommend you read the book.

Seriously, how is Bob alive, mostly in one piece and not arrested after this book? This is book 10 in the Rogue Warrior/Bob Singleton series and while he has a lot of special ops training, maybe the least believable. Sure he could easily fight the idiots at the beginning but getting out of Seattle and the mining mess with just a few cuts and burns?

I was worried after the last book that I would miss the whole Eddie Stone relationship and this one had little of his old bosses or any other connections to make up for it. His 'handler' barely gets a mention as Bob gets the job kind of by accident.

It is an easy to read thriller and very readable as a standalone despite being a long series. If you are unfamiliar with the books, imagine Reacher if his old bosses wanted him dead and his team was long gone, either in the field or "being retired". But definitely not the most believable of the books.

Bob is back , trying to keep a low profile but steps in when the driver he has hitched a ride with is attacked. As he needs the money, he agrees to protect a man whose commune is the target of an unscrupulous businessman who is not taking no for an answer. Cue lots of action as Bob has to deal with corrupt cops and lots of mercenaries hired to ensure the businessman gets what he wants, no matter what.

This was really enjoyable. The baddies were quite bad and I love rooting for Bob to get the upper hand each time. I can't wait to see where he ends up next.

Bob is back as he heads down the road in Washington state in his roam about the land. As usual, trouble finds him quickly, but an opportunity presents itself with is billed as an easy security job with a large payoff to help out a sick friend. Little does he know he's stepping into a landmine, literally and figuratively. A ruthless businessman and mercenaries will allow nothing from stopping their plans to reopen an old goldmine, despite the environmental disaster that awaits if it comes to fruition.

Will Bob sit back and let that happen? You know the answer, as well as the end result. But it's a wild ride along the way.

Thanks to Booksprout for this opportunity to preview Bob Singleton's latest adventure. While this one wasn't my favorite in the series, I look forward to seeing what comes next for Bob Singleton down the road.

Love this next outing in the Rogue Warrior Series, but then again, I am a big Bob fan. Author Loome does not disappoint because as good as always. This next adventure has Bob hanging out of a skyscraper hanging onto a child, so he doesn't fall. Bob gets hung, burnt, beaten and even locked up and that isn't even half of it. He is resilient. This one really is full of action and suspense. Great finale. A must read.

"Kill Chain" delivers non-stop action and adventure. Ian Loome masterfully brings together a remarkable cast of characters in a gripping plot. It's mercenary thriller writing at its finest, with a hero you instantly admire. Fast-paced, intense, and unrelenting.

Bob's soft heart gets him in trouble every time he tries to help someone this time he's trying to earn money to send to a friend for treatment. I love the non-stop action with the turn of every page and how close Bob gets to being taken out, but always comes up with a plan to escape the dangerous situations and after he finishes his self appointed mission he moves on to the next exciting journey.

Another great adventure for Bob. This time his decision to take the job is more about helping a friend in need than building back up his savings. Things go completely off the rails right from the start while he is protecting a trust fund kid from ruthless developers. I enjoyed the story very much. Bob decides to take a job as a bodyguard to help his friend's medical bills. I mean how hard could the job be since it's in rural Washington State. Quickly, Bob finds out he has bitten off more than he can chew when he is stuck in a deadly conspiracy. When the person Bob is hired to protect is kidnapped all bets are off to save him.

This is an easy to read and entertaining action book, not a literary masterpiece, but it's well written and does what it's meant to do. I'm also happy to see the main character profiting from his instincts rather than luck.

Meh

I've read every book in this series. "Kill Chain" is one of the weaker ones. There are several glaring plot errors along with a several typos...sloppy editing. Maybe it's time to put this series to rest.

Good read

This was one of the better Bob S. stories. Didn’t dwell too much on the his hero complex issues which tends to get tedious. I liked the Dex character. Too bad he is a one off.

Action Dosed With

This is a solid series, and the plot of this novel unravels skillfully. There’s plenty of action too, however, it’s dosed with some political commentary that’s wedged into the story. Unfortunately, that took me OUT of the story multiple times.
