There is no Sun in Celantra. There is no Moon either. Only the hearts brave enough to burn through the coldness.
In a land where the light is nothing but a myth, history has been buried, forbidden to know and forgotten. Until her.

Born with power she was never meant to touch, she spent her life hidden from destiny and from the darkness that calls her name. But when fate collides her path with a man forged from secrets and ruin, their worlds ignite in a storm of love, betrayal and impossible choices.

In Celantra, nothing stays buried for long. Not magic, not history, and certainly not the kind of love that can unmake Kingdoms.

Black Like My Heart is a dark, gothic romantasy of forbidden magic, aching devotion, and the fine line between salvation and self-destruction.

Perfect for readers who tension and haunting chemistry.Morally grey heroines and powerful heroes.Lyrical world building steeped in gothic fantasy.Slow-burn tension that lingers long after "The End'.An epic romance between a Witch and a Dragon Trainer. In Celantra, love isn't light. It's the shadow that devours it.

Hey, I’m Mary Jackson. I write dark, emotional stories about love, betrayal, and all the messy, complicated feelings in between. I’ve always been fascinated by the ways people hurt and heal, the secrets we keep, and the power of a love that refuses to let go and that’s what I try to capture in my books. I love connecting with readers, sharing stories that make your heart ache, and exploring worlds where danger, passion, and redemption collide. When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me daydreaming as I listen to my favorite songs, reading a book I just saw on TikTok while ignoring my endless TBR, plotting my next story, thinking about characters long after the book is done, or scrolling endlessly for inspiration (basically, living inside the stories I can’t stop imagining)

I have one word to describe this book - MINDFUCK.
The plot is dark and mystical. I loved that the FMC is a true ‘villain’ villain. She is morally black and I still love her so much. The twists and turns are banger and it is very different concept to read about. The tension between the main characters is sizzling.
The first few chapters are a bit slow as they set the space and introductions for the characters but as the plot thickens you can’t stop at just one chapter.
It is a must read for those whose love dark and broody plot in a fantasy setting.
The author did point in the end that it will not be the end for the MCs and all I can say is sign me up for it!

I received E-arc for an honest review !
Add it to your TBR boiss no doubt...

The world building of this book was brilliant and the plot wasn't always predictable. i didn't know what was going to happen next and I liked that. The enemies to lovers banter between the two main characters and the twists were great.

This book was DARK. The FMC was truly a villain without question. The author took the time to build the world so the reader understood the setting completely.
