They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

The day Jerusalem falls, Miriam Elmahdy knows her life is over. Houses are burning, the streets run red with blood, and a traitorous army is massacring every last resident. There is no surviving this, especially not once Miriam catches the eye of War himself. But when the massive and terrifying horseman corners Miriam, he calls her his wife, and instead of killing her, he takes her back to his camp.

Now Miriam faces a terrifying future, one where she watches her world burn town by town, and the one man responsible for it all is her seemingly indestructible “husband”. But there’s another side to him, one that’s gentle and loving and dead set on winning her over, and she might not be strong enough to resist.

However, if there’s one thing Miriam has learned, it’s that love and war cannot coexist. And so she must make the ultimate choice: surrender to War and watch humankind fall, or sacrifice everything and stop him.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Found in the forest when she was young, Laura Thalassa was raised by fairies, kidnapped by werewolves, and given over to vampires as repayment for a hundred year debt. She’s been brought back to life twice, and, with a single kiss, she woke her true love from eternal sleep. She now lives happily ever after with her undead prince in a castle in the woods.

… or something like that anyway.

When not writing, Laura can be found scarfing down guacamole, hoarding chocolate for the apocalypse, or curled up on the couch with a good book.

Narrators did an AMAZING job

I wish all audiobooks (especially fatantasy/suspense/shoot even romance books) were dramatized😭, because it's like watching a movie.

The male narrator who plays War? LOOOOORDTTTT... he's SEEEEEEXY🫠lol, AND he does an incredible job voicing the different languages War speaks.

But Miriam's voice is great too...

I FELT the EMOTIONS 😭from these characters!! It got me teared up, AGAIN, even though I KNOOOW what happens in this book 😭

Here's my review for the book

Ugh this isn’t even my favorite of this series but I missed these characters. I’ve read this series a few times and it’s a great way to calm down after reading The Order. I love graphic audios and this one was well done, and the narration is super good. War’s voice was mmmm and the way he always calls her “Wife” lol ahhhhh!!! I can’t wait for famine after pestilence that was my favorite one. Im so happy this series is getting the attention it deserves. It’s so well done! It’s a little twisted, a lil dark, a little spicy and the fact that his message was written on her and he still pulled all that stuff and he got all moody over some light stabbing ugh… men! So emotional.

Very good story. Deep and somber in essence. The whole series are, divine intervention on the corrupted mankind. The narration was amazing- especially Rayner Gabriel, though I have listened to many of his voice acting, this was something else, all emotions were palpable..

Genre: Dystopian Romantasy
Format(s): Audiobook (Graphic Audio)
Rating: 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⚔️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Review: If you're in the mood for a possessive/obsessive alpha kidnapping trope story, then this is going to check all the boxes for you. This is a standalone in an interconnected series, and takes place after Pestilence. This story follows the second of the four horsemen, who is traveling from the Middle East toward Africa waging war on humanity and decimating every city he visits. The FMC Miriam is living in Jerusalem when War invades, but instead of killing her he claims she is his wife and takes her captive. She is forced to travel with him and his army as he travels the world waging war on human kind, but she continues to defy him in every way she can to try to save the human race. The more time she spends with War though, the more she develops feelings for him. Ultimately she must battle with herself because how can she love someone who is set on destroying the world? Just like Pestilence, the author did a fantastic job of pacing the story and the relationship between War and Miriam. At the end of the day this was an easy, fast paced, enjoyable binge read.

Final Verdict: If you enjoyed Pestilence and want similar tension, drama, and enemies-to-lovers vibes, but with a new setting and fresh characters, then you'll enjoy War.

Laura! 😭 I didn’t even know it was possible but you hit the jackpot again. This book?! I loved every second reading this. I was sobbing, laughing, of course had some “YES GIRL!” Moments but also the spiceee. 500000/5⭐️ if that was possible but since it’s not I will be forced to settle on 5/5⭐️. I’d say spice is a 🌶️🌶️/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

War has come to earth and is set on killing the humans calling earth its home. That is until he stumbles upon a woman trying to kill him and realises she bears the mark. His wife. So he takes her to his camp hoping she will surrender. But Miriam has other plans and is definitely not some horseman’s wife. So she starts taking the matter into her own hands. But is it really that easy to overcome a horseman? Or will she give into the love blossoming between them?

This book was an absolute masterpiece and had me binge reading and listening to it all night. Was it worth it? Hell yes! If you loved Pestilence then War is next level! This book was absolutely amazing and I would sell my organs to read it for the first time again. There’s not a dull moment and it had the banter, the action, the story, the plot, the character development. It had it all. So if you’ve been thinking about reading this book? DO IT! And highly recommend giving the graphic audio a try too!

3.75⭐

• The Four Horseman #2 • dark, morally complex romance • apocalyptic dystopian steeped in fantasy • enemies to lovers • spiritual (god) undertones without religion • war on humankind • Graphic Audio edition • mostly single POV •

This series keeps me guessing about its endgame—I simultaneously feel like I know and don't know where it's headed. The philosophical exploration these books are taking me on is compelling, despite the less-than-ideal writing style. The push and pull between the characters keeps the romance engaging enough to keep me invested, though I liked Pestilence more than War.

🎙️I wasn’t necessarily feeling the narration choices on this one…but it was still good, and I would still take this narration (Graphic Audio) over a single narrator, any day. However, the sex noises they made were awkward.

My Score 7.46/10

Graphic Audio Dramatized Adaptations. 🔥 Always amazing. Always worth it.

I obsessively listened to this. So many chores were completed so I could keep listening. (Or maybe it's because I didn't want to read ZA9, whose to say?)

This was...oddly romantic? What?! Lol. Miriam is pretty badass but some of her decisions are a bit repetitive. Get mad. Runaway. Forgive him. Repeat.

But the ending to this book had me clapping for her, then crying for her, then kicking my feet.

i LOVE the four horsemen series, and “war” has always been near and dear to my heart. the themes are (sadly) extremely relevant today, & i applaud laura thalassa for writing this with sensitivity but not sugar-coating things. Jessica Schly as Miriam & Rayner Gabriel SLAYED their characters, and as always, the music and background sound effects were top tier

(shoutout everyone who might have heard this book when i was listening full volume in the car lol hope you enjoyed too!!)

The writing isn't amazing but Laura does an amazing job at delivering emotional impact. She has a lot of great moments between characters, the horror and gore is phenomenal, and she manages to get you invested in the women who save what's left of humanity. Will admit that she had me tearing up at the end-- if you get to the moment you will understand.

Have Immediately started reading Famine.

The voice acting was phenomenal. However. I DEEPLY disliked the FMC. Her choices were so absurd. Almost everything she did I disagreed with and I kept speeding up the playback to get past her infuriating decision making skills.

DNF @ 21% I wasn’t into this rn. War/slaughter/genocide is just so depressing.😩 Of course this is on me because duh, I knew this already. I want an escape not a pancake downer in my reading experience.🚫🥞⤵️

I give this book a 4.5/5, but the GraphicAudio narration with full cast and sound effects makes it 5/5. I like that the characters aren’t all good or all bad. The events of the book are told in such a way that I felt connected to the characters and their stories.
