I loved this book. Although short in pages, it is certainly long in wisdom. This is definitely a keeper - to "keep" going back and back to the great ideas it contains. Much of what is stated has been said before, but this says it AGAIN, and clearly, and to the point. Just keep going - LIVE IN THE PRESENT. Let go. Accept. And MOVE ON. Quite an uplifting book - that makes me believe I can do it. I would recommend this little gem to everyone.

Good book to overcome Emotional rut

I enjoyed reading this book as the author explains things in a more conversational manner. She has also given some simple suggestions which can be followed and hoping to see improvements practising those.

Thanks a lot Angie for a good book

Get Unstuck From Your Emotional Rut: Free yourself from Anxiety, Depression, Worry, and Fear — Angie Dawson (Intro + 9 chapters + Conclusion) April 24-25, 2018

This truly is one the best books ever on how to get “unstuck” from emotional ruts. Several ideas and tips are given that are easy to understand and implement and that really work!

I picked up tips in every chapter (and even the intro and conclusion chapters were good reads!) My favorite chapters, the ones that helped me the most: One: The Bully; Two: Get Unstuck; Three: Change Your Focus; Eight: Relax. The others were fine, but there were some eye-rolly moments in them. They didn’t feel as helpful to me as the other ones did. The chapters were mostly short and to the point. It was a fast read, but the author kept the tips very concise.

The eye rolls came when the author talked about “things landing in your lap” when you don’t think about them, or let them go. Personally, this has never happened to me, even when I have moved on from a very stuck idea. The most I have achieved is the sense that a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders and and lighter sensation in my heart—and that’s what I would hope would happen more than anything else.

The other eye-rolls: health is important, and I use to live by that motto, but I have gotten to know of people who have terrible diets and are fit as a fiddle and live long lives. I think diet is a relative term that needs to go by the way side. Most important is acceptance of self, mind and body. Most of this book did concentrate on that concept, and those were the parts I enjoyed the most.

I wish I could give it a 5 star. But the points mentioned above knocks one star off. Still, if you concentrate on the chapters I mentioned, great relief can come to you. By far the best book I have read on the subject this year (2018.) I highly recommend it to people who are stressed, suffer anxiety and/or depression. Thank-you so much for imparting your wisdom in a simple to understand way.

Four stars.

Meh

It's just a bunch of ideas and tips that you've likely already read about and practiced. It's good for someone who has a low sense of anxiety, or is just developing it. Not very helpful for someone like myself whose tried everything, and cant seem to fight it.
