They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Yet in this delectable romance it is Toby, manager of cool Jos hangout lounge, the Bar-rage, who wins over feisty single mum and successful cake-maker Adoo Ibi with his tasty pizza. Not to mention his suave good looks and calm, confident demeanour.
Soon, Adoo and Toby are enjoying spontaneous dates and passionate encounters. Adoo is thrilled to find a man who accepts both her and her son, and Toby is drawn to Adoo’s down-to-earth manner and feisty independence. It’s as if they’ve known each other forever. But both have been hurt before and are hesitant to commit to something more. Will Toby and Adoo overcome their pasts and embrace the present, or will they only have A Taste of Love?

It is a pretty small book with a love story of a single mother Adoo who has built up walls based on her bad past relationship with the father of her son, Teremun. Toby also has built up walls based on his love that was not reciprocated by Hannani. The book touches on how love is still possible if one lets it happen. I give it four stars as it is a new kind of romance being told and a debut story by the author.
Quick easy read. Still working my way through Brittle Paper’s romance list which I found the concubine on. Good smut to entertain myself, African stories always. Romance novels follow such a clear formula so it’s reliable and easy going.
3.5 stars. It was a refreshing change from the norm to read about a young single mother as the protagonist in an easy romance novel . Adoo is depicted as an independent single mother who cannot afford to be a damsel in distress. She co-owns an event planning business with her best friend, Aduke and her son is her priority. If you're looking for a quick cute read then this is the book for you.
it's about a single mum Adoo who has a cake business and she meets handsome bar manager Toby (who secretly watched Disney Channel lol) and it's basically about how they end up falling for each other but obviously things get lost in translation and 'miscommunication leads to complication' etc etc
but there are some really cute moments as Toby tries to 'woo' Adoo and i love Adoo's strength and character. she's a really great independent woman.
the best thing is that because it is romance fiction you know it will have a happy ending so you're just waiting for them to get their crap together and sort it all out!
so if you like cute love stories then give this a try and also it is set in Nigeria which is a different location to the usual books i read which is good. it's a fun read for people who like romance and cute love stories.
