Glitched and Fractured: A Slow-Burn Cyberpunk Fantasy Romance

Rate this book
The world calls her chosen.
She knows she’s something else entirely.

In a fractured kingdom where ancient technology is worshipped as divine, Neon Quinn survives as a relic hunter, recovering artifacts no one understands from a past no one remembers.

Until one of them answers back.

What begins as a whisper becomes a voice inside her mind. It unlocks abilities she was never meant to have.

Power that doesn’t feel like a blessing.
It feels like a warning.

Because in a world ruled by faith, knowledge is dangerous.

Hunted by those who fear what she is becoming, Neon is pulled into a web of shifting loyalties and impossible choices.

A healer bound by duty.
A prince who would burn kingdoms for her.
A shadow who was meant to kill her, but didn't.

Each offers her something different.
Each could destroy her.

And as the truth of her existence begins to surface, one thing becomes clear:

She is not chosen.
She is something far worse.

I’m keeping this completely spoiler-free, but I had to talk about this book because it completely pulled me in from the start.

The story builds in such a natural way you’re drawn into the world, the mystery, and the characters without even realizing how invested you’ve become. There’s action, emotion, and just enough unanswered questions to keep you turning pages nonstop.

As the story expands, we get to experience new places that feel almost magical through the characters’ eyes, while still carrying the weight of everything they’ve been through. There’s tension, guilt, survival, and moments that genuinely made me stop and think… wait, WHAT?!

The pacing is so good! There’s training, danger, unexpected twists, and some really intense moments with creatures and conflict that raise the stakes in the best way. And just when you think you know what’s going on… you don’t.

What really stood out to me was Neon she’s learning as she goes, growing through everything, and her heart for others makes her so easy to connect with. Even in chaos, she chooses compassion.

Everything starts coming together in a way that feels bigger than you expected, almost like this world is far in the future shaped by something familiar but completely transformed.

I was fully locked in the entire time and now I’m honestly a little heartbroken it’s over because I need book two immediately.

Also… I’m Team Sylas all the way. I said what I said!

Glitched and Fractured was so intriguing and eventful, completely full of action right from the very start. The feels it gave me: "The Mummy" (the movie) fused with a cool video game. The world building is complex in my opinion, but not negatively so. It's intricate and unique with cyber components (think "The Matrix"), machines, magical elements and Gods. This world is like nothing I've ever read before. Neon, the FMC, is smart, compassionate, maybe a little in over her head but determined and strong. All the while, she's uncovering so much about herself and her past. The romance was.. complex? complicated? Full of slow-burning tension! A love triangle, I mean a love square... but it's not RH or WC from my understanding. A tough choice for sure (3 awesome MMCs). This has been and will be (thanks to a cliff) an intense journey!

I must confess, this book falls a little outside of my typical preference. It's definitely fantasy with a slow burn romance (which is my go-to genre) but has the additional aspect of cyberpunk in a medieval setting. And you're probably wondering how that would even mesh well, but trust me, it does! Check it out for yourself!

~Thank you to the author for letting me read this ARC through BookSirens. This is my honest review~

Orion blends Fantasy and Sci-fi creating an interesting and unique SELF PUBLISHED story. If you’re a fan of Star Wars, Tomb Raider, The Matrix, or Horizon Zero Dawn, this is the book for you!

My FAVORITE thing about this book is how descriptive Orion is. As someone who visualizes the book as a movie while I read, as well as being someone who often likes to draw or paint scenes from books in depth descriptions are my favorite. There are some scenes that I thought could use more description and without it the scene felt.. blocky? But I genuinely feel like Orion was holding back so as not to seem to drone on because there are just as many people who hate super descriptive books as there are people who love them. My greatest wish for Orion is that as he writes the second book he does not hold back and that he just lets the words flow.

NOW anyone who knows me knows that I genuinely hate the love triangle trope. I am a hopeless romantic and love triangles feel disingenuous and I have an extremely hard time getting through books with this trope. HOWEVER not only does this series include a love SQUARE but it’s not written like the trope normally is. It’s not written as the FMC being “oh! I love them all whoever shall I choose?!” All I can really say without spoiling too much is that it is written with layers, it’s not the main focus, and it’s all STILL building into the second book. It’s a SLOW BURN BABY.

Please don’t sleep on this book! I believe this series has the potential to be big! Orion self-published this book and did a wonderful job building something new and unique, something that was very important to him and that he hopes other people will people will connect with when they read his book. He worked hard to make the characters and their actions/emotions feel real instead fantastical and immediate. I’m excited to see more descriptive writing and even more world building in his next installment!

There’s not much else I’m willing to say as to avoid spoilers. But I will say that I am extremely excited for the next book!

I enjoyed reading this book. A Cyberpunk and Medieval world combined was original and refreshing. I found that romance is not the main theme in this book, but it is a SLOW burn. The love triangle between the FMC and the three MMCs was intense, hard to pick one for sure; but I do have a favorite, Sylas, obviously. I was captivated by the complex magical and political systems. The story is action packed and the transitions were well written. This is not the type of book I usually read, but it was a great starter into this genre. I was able to understand most concepts without too much struggle.

The story is wonderfully written, the characters are intriguing.

The author wrote a story that caught my attention with its theme and didn’t disappoint at all, I was surprised that it was such a good mix!.

Fans of Fourth Wing are going to devour this debut Romantasy by the talented Loki Orion. Neon Quinn’s journey of becoming the hero she was meant to be starts with identity and purpose.

Those two qualities of this book really connected me to the story being told. It’s hard to find your identity and purpose in a world that loves to tear things down. To see Neon grow from the first to last page had me hooked.

Her ties to the three main male characters brought forth a textured layer to this masterpiece. Orion plays a beautiful balance beam of emotional catharsis with the high stakes of the fantasy genre. This book made me cry, hang on the edge of my seat, root for situations to go right, and made me want absolutely more.

The book is a little long; however, the hero’s journey of a character like Neon Quinn is worth every word in the page. You want a badass female main character with vibes of Violet Sorrengail? Then, this is the book that will help cure an Onyx Storm hangover.

I wanted to love this, the summary sounded so good to me, but it just wasn't for me I guess.

I was having a hard time imagining anything going on in this book, and I don't usually have that problem. I was very confused as to what was going on and left with more questions than answers. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and felt like there just wasn't enough character development. I think it would have helped a lot of the FMC had more backstory in the beginning of the book, but I can see why she was left mostly a mystery to us and even herself for the story, I suppose.

I will admit the cliffhanger was good enough to have me wanting to know more, but I am in no rush for the second book. Love the cover art.

It's difficult to write a review for this book. The basic premise - long lost savior, political scheming, romance - is mired in a cyberpunk-style, medieval world. It is a nice change of pace in the fantasy genre, with an excellent "magic" system.
The characters are interesting, and there are several twists throughout that enhance the FMC's journey. Neon also isn't your typical damsel-in-distress, and she uses her wits and physical prowess in a logical way. The action scenes are well written.

The story is long (over 700 pages) and could do with some trimming. The ending is also rather abrupt. Otherwise, an enjoyable read! I look forward to the sequel.

This was a strong start to the Glitched Saga series, it had that fantasy romance element that I was looking for and was engaged with what was happening. I enjoyed this as a opening chapter and am excited to read more in this universe. The characters had that overall feel that I was wanting and enjoyed the concept. Loki Orion wrote this well and was engaged from the first page. It worked was a fantasy romance with great use of the Medieval setting.

This book is incredible.
You will never guess what happens next. The characters are so interesting to follow. The development of the story is non stop and keeps you on your toes!

I can't wait for the next book. The ending leaves just enough unresolved for the next book to be just as good as the first.

I LOVEEEEE THE WORLD BULIDING SOOOO FUCKING MUCH

I love that the char names are unique i tend to mix names alot in novels so these unique name actually helps alot in remembering the char which disappear for few chs and come back later.

I love the fact that theres something to look forward to such as info about sky watcher, stella past, neon powers, emperor and such most stories have a part where it feels dry and forced but i have encountered no such feelings as of now

I love the fact that neon is someone a normal person can relate to her expression and behavior are not out of this world

I love the concept of 5 gods and mirage and veil i love the power system. Onyx implant

The slum district is a fire arc and the ekielon guild chars are a chef kiss

I love the mysteriousity behind neon past which i look forward to know more about

If coundre, daxen, dawn, isobel any of these die then ill cryyy grrrrr unless they are a traitor

This novel keeps reminding me of cyberpunk and arcane which I love this for

I enjoy the fact that no arc feels draggy or forced the pacing is nice

And most of all I applaud the author for the writing the quality in which he describes the sceneries, buildings, monsters are amazing I can get a rough idea of how it all looks whenever he tries to define which most of the times I cant.

Villains feel like actually villains.

⭐️ 4/5

Glitched and Fractured by Loki Orion is a slow-burn fantasy romance filled with mystery, morally gray characters, and immersive worldbuilding that keeps you engaged throughout the story.

One of the strongest aspects of the book is the world that Loki Orion creates. The atmosphere and mystery surrounding the story continuously pull you further into the narrative, making it easy to stay invested in what is happening next.

Neon’s journey, alongside the three MMCs, creates an interesting dynamic throughout the story, especially as the relationships and underlying tension continue developing over time.

The mystery element stands out the most because it keeps the pacing engaging and encourages you to continue uncovering more about the world and characters as the story unfolds.

This is also a longer book in page length, which may be something readers want to keep in mind before starting. Personally, I needed to pause and come back to it at times, but that did not negatively affect my overall enjoyment or rating of the story.

Overall, Glitched and Fractured is an immersive fantasy romance with strong worldbuilding, mystery, and slow-burn relationship development that keeps readers engaged throughout the journey.

Glitched and Fractured by Loki Orion is a mesmerizing and ambitious entry in the romantasy genre, blending high-stakes fantasy, slow-burn romance, and complex world-building with deft precision. Orion crafts a story that is both epic in scope and intimately personal, with Neon Quinn’s journey of survival, identity, and forbidden love at the center.

Neon is a compelling protagonist: resilient, haunted, and morally nuanced, navigating a world where gods, assassins, and rogues collide. The interplay between her and the three central male figures is layered, filled with tension, vulnerability, and a sense of inevitability that keeps the reader captivated. The plot moves with a careful balance of intrigue, action, and emotional stakes, while the lore of Mirages and the Veil adds a rich, immersive dimension to the story.

Fans of Fourth Wing, Arcane, and high-stakes romantic fantasy will find themselves swept away by the narrative’s intensity and the depth of its characters. Glitched and Fractured is an intricate, thrilling, and beautifully written novel that promises to leave readers thinking long after the last page.

⭐ 4.25 out of 5 stars

Glitched & Fractured by Loki Orion is an interesting start to the series. The world blends futuristic tech with a medieval-style fantasy setting, which makes it feel fresh compared to a lot of other romantasy out right now.

Neon Quinn, FMC, is haunted, morally gray at times, and much stronger than she realizes. Watching her slowly grow into the role she’s meant to play was one of my favorite parts of the book.

The romance is the slowest of slow burns, but the tension is definitely there. With Cythare, Coundre, and Sylas all in the mix, I’m honestly still undecided who I’m rooting for.

The worldbuilding, magic system, and lore are strong, and the stakes keep climbing.

On the other hand, The book is long and could have been trimmed in places, but I was still invested.

And yes… it ends on a cliffhanger.

Thank you BookSirens as well as the publisher and author for providing this advanced review copy, I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was alright, I wasn't blown away. A high stakes fantasy with a slow-burn romance set in a steampunk world. I think this did a great job of blending fantasy and science fiction into a nice little sci-fantasy fusion. The characters were well rounded and diverse and I enjoyed the magic of this world. The story dragged a little through the middle but it started strong and ended strong (though it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger so be prepared to have more questions by the end of the book). Not bad for a debut novel though, 3.5 stars and I'll read more of this world if he writes it!

I thought the cyberpunk meets medieval fantasy-ish vibe was SPOT ON. 5 stars!

I enjoyed this book thoroughly. It's unique, addicting, and still somehow relatable.

The FMC, Neon, is believable, determined, compassionate, and very easy to root for. And the romantic - i want to say... square - tension that seems to be forming with three different MMCs is, well, a bit addicting!

And maybe I'm seeing easter eggs because I want to, but there are Matrix and Firefly / Serenity homages in here, too! (I mean... the main character can see code and her name is NEOn!)

I will absolutely be reading book 2 when it comes out.

This was such an interesting mix of cyberpunk but make it medieval-ish.
I liked the magic system. It was a new one to me, for some an implant is needed, and code can be magically overridden.
It took a while for me to feel connected to Neon and understand the world as there was so much going on at the start of the book. It jumps straight into hunting for a relic, a village being destroyed, people dying.
At times I felt I couldn't picture what was happening, but I enjoyed the journey.

Rating: Phenomenal Start To The Series

It is absolutely a yes a from me!! This is a fantasy romance that is heading towards a romantasy. Think cyberpunk meets medieval and as the kids say....It's giving Indiana Jones meets Matrix meets Mad Max. If you aren't old enough for those references, this is a very unique romantasy with a great magic system.

The author has found the perfect blend of high stakes fantasy, comprehensive world building & character arcs, all while creating the slowest slowburn ever. We don't even get a kiss though there is definitely some tension.

Neon Quinn is an extremely relatable FMC. She is haunted, stronger than she realizes, morally a bit grey at times and is navigating the expectations on herself and the ones the outside world has of her. The journey is growing her into the hero she was always meant to be....or is it?!?!?

There are three main male characters that are alongside Neon during her journey and quite honestly I am still torn over whether I want her to wind up with Cythare, Coundre, or Sylas. The story is definitely guiding you in a specific direction but I'm not sure that is where the journey ends.

There is action, the budding romance, lore, intrique, gods, technology, and emotional stakes in this book. The author provides tidbits of information without giving anything away all while keeping you engaged. As a matter of fact, I was so engrossed that I hit the last page without even knowing I was there. AND yes it ends on a cliffhanger.

If you want to know everything in book 1 this is probably not the read for you. If you didn't enjoy books like Arcane, this is probably not the book for you. However for me......

I'm foaming at the mouth for the the next book in this saga!!!!!!!

I am intrigued to see the continuation of this series. The protagonist is believable and rolls with the punches. She keeps moving because she needs answers, and she surprises herself and those around her with her instincts and by handling the obstacles in her way.

The first 40% of the book had me hooked—I was genuinely intrigued by the world-building and eager to understand all the terminology and mechanics of the setting. Between the 40% and 60% mark, though, my interest dipped. I found myself a bit bored and often confused.

But once I hit that 65–70% point, everything shifted. The pacing tightened, long-awaited answers finally surfaced, and even more compelling questions began to unfold. From there, I was fully locked in. The story is engaging, relevant, and overall very well written.

It does end on a cliffhanger, which leaves me both intrigued and slightly irritated because I’m walking away with more questions than answers. If you enjoy slow-burn romances, this one offers a fun twist—what seems to be a full-on romance square.

This easily could have been a five‑star read for me if certain sections had been trimmed. Not every minute detail felt necessary to the overall story, and in contrast, some explanations that should have been expanded felt oddly brief. If that makes sense.
