Offering Cat Daniels my spare room after a break-in was unavoidable. Hiring her as my assistant? The worst idea I’ve ever had.
She’s pure sunshine—chaotic, bold, and stubbornly independent. Meanwhile, I built a billion-dollar security firm on rules, distance, and control.
At first, it’s easy to pretend I’m not affected by her warmth, but the close quarters turn late nights reckless. One slip becomes a secret we swear we can manage, but every time I make her gasp my name, the more I want to keep her.
Then a leak turns our secret into clickbait, and with an eight-figure contract on the line, Cat says we have to end it before I lose everything I built.
But I negotiate for a living, and I never settle for less than perfect terms.
I’ve followed the rules my entire life, but for her? I’ll break every last one.
Bossy Wicked Prince is a grumpy/sunshine, billionaire boss romance with high heat, forced proximity, and a guaranteed HEA. It is the first book in the House of Cards series, but can be read as a complete standalone.
Lena Hunt is a Canadian author born and raised north of Toronto, which is the setting for her flagship series, House of Cards. She writes angsty contemporary romances with complex characters who bring the spice and banter in spades.
When she isn’t busy writing, she can be found listening to music at an unreasonable volume, wishing she was somewhere warmer, or spending quality time with her chaotic family.
I feel like this could have been edited down some so there wasn't so much back and forth between Cat and Nate but overall I enjoyed their story. I liked the grumpy/sunshine aspect of their personalities and thought that was done really well. It had me rooting for them the entire time to finally figure their shit out and kept me intrigued.
Fun, guilty pleasure read. Grumpy Sunshine, work romance with an over protective MMC.
Nate is known for his grumpy, workaholic, ice cold personality - as the CEO of a security company, it’s served him well. Until he meets Cat. A waitress and sunshine personified - she spends all her time in the service of others, her passion being the shelter where she volunteers. Nate and Cat meet in drastic circumstances, but immediately have chemistry. So when Cats apartment gets broken in to, Nate offers her his guest bedroom, and then a job as his personal assistant. But as they get closer, the lines between professional and personal blur. And will Nate have to chose between Cat or his work and reputation?
2.5⭐️! This was a nice, quick read that I can say I enjoyed for the most part. Cat gave me so much whiplash the entire time, and I felt like the ending was so abrupt. Nate's friends were honestly so manipulative when trying to get them back together, and that whole part just made me mad for Cat. One of the tropes listed in the book for this one was slow burn and I feel this is no where near a slow burn
I’m unfortunately unable to do one of my full reviews because I needed emergency surgery and had a hospital visit before that.
I thought this book was pretty good. Nate was a grumpy billionaire and Cat was an independent waitress who gave a lot of her money to homeless shelters. She was sort or all over the place and if I’m being honest I didn’t totally feel the chemistry between them. Unfortunately I don’t have an interest in any of the other characters stories—-especially the manho3.
Overall, this was quick and cute —just not over the top amazing IMO
Cat is a very independent woman with a strong passion for helping others. Even though she’s not in the best financial situation, she still goes above and beyond for helping others. She stretches herself thin between work and volunteering, which you can tell holds great importance in her life.
Nate is our “Prince Frowning”. He’s a billionaire with a self imposed one-night rule. He’s had his eye on Cat for a while, and a chance encounter turns into him becoming visibly invested in Cat’s life.
The dialogue between the characters, along with his friend group, was so entertaining. I cannot wait to see more books with his friends because they are very charismatic.
Nate has it down bad for Cat. He pushed himself out of his comfort zone to try to be someone worthy of Cat’s love. The scene with him setting up the table with flowers he got from a shop with instructions on how to set up? Swoon worthy.
I do wish there was more expansion on some of the plot sections. The story lines regarding his mother and father could have been fleshed out more - I think it would have provided more depth to his background. He definitely should have done more groveling - he very much invaded her privacy and while she walked away, she just welcomed him back in when she realized he had a epiphany that he should be spending his money more charitably. His behavior change kinda seemed more like trying to get her back rather than changing for himself.
I do like how in the end Nate and Cat were able to build a life that utilized both of their strengths to make a difference in peoples lives. This was such an important value for Cat and Nate respected and honored that.
Very much looking forward to the next books!
“Patio door?” he echoes with that same horrified distaste as when he asked me if I lived here. “One you can access from the street?” “Don’t be silly. You have to go around the trash cans and get past the gnomes first.” “The—what the fuck?”
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
FMC: Cat MMC: Nate Tropes: grumpy x sunshine, he falls first, billionaire, forced proximity, protective with slight stalker vibes, office romance (boss x employee), praise kink Spice Rating: 2.5 Series: Yes | Book One - Interconnected Standalone in House of Cards Series POV: Dual Cliffhanger: No
4.5 Stars
Grumpy x sunshine office romance is my jam. I will never pass on a book with a mix of these tropes.
Bossy Wicked Prince is the first book in a new series, House of Cards, by Lena Hunt.
The characters are well-written. Nate is a grumpy billionaire who is broody, quiet, and reserved with everyone else. That all changes around Cat. He finds himself unable to focus on anything other than Cat and her safety. He’s a bit obsessive about it, in a protective way.
Cat has the sweetest heart. She’s kind, friendly, and giving. She volunteers at a local shelter, gives back to the community, and is always putting others before herself.
Life has given Cat a rough time but Nate’s determined to care for her. In a time of need, Nate offers to let Cat crash in his spare bedroom temporarily. Then, because he can’t help himself, he offers her a job as his assistant. However, neither of them are fully prepared for what happens when the two are frequently in such close proximity.
I recommend adding this one to your TRB this month!
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series featuring Cat’s best friend.
**Thank you to Lena Hunt and team for allowing me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book.**
This was a great start to a new series. For me, a new author I connected with on social media. I so loved that it was set in Canada and written by a Canadian (let’s face it, most books set in Canada are written by Canadians). The talk of Toronto landmarks was comforting (while I am not from Toronto, I have spent a good amount of time there).
Nate and Cat were a cute couple. I originally thought I knew where this would go with the whole boss/assistant thing; billionaire and the struggling waitress a bit down on her luck, Lena did surprise me with some twists. I will happily continue with this series. A solid 4/5 stars for me (creeping towards a 4.5 star read - I enjoyed it and did not want to put it down).
My review I was apprehensive to start this book, but WOW, I have loved every single page. I had planned to skim when I realised I had missed my deadline but once I started i knew I needed to read every word.
Nate - your typical grumpy spoilt rich kid with the world at his fingertips. Cat - A ray of sunshine who has struggled her entire life, only to continue to try make the world a better place. Twists and turns with an ultimate happy ending and I can not wait to start the next one in the series.
Thank you Lena for allowing me to read this as an ARC read.
Cat is a sunshine at the end of the rainbow personality - sees the good in everyone around her and makes you want to be a better person after getting to know her.
Nate is the opposite - grumpy, a man of few words and sees the world is his view only quickly earning him the nickname Prince Frowning (perfection here).
I loved seeing how Nate let Cat teach him about things from her point of view such as not judging people just at first sight. I also loved the protective nature of Nate especially with Cat and how he wanted to give her the world even when she felt she didn’t deserve it.
With most workplace romances, it’s glanced over the backlash of if the relationship is found out but this book showed a reality of the press, the negative comments, and how it affected both characters which I really enjoyed and found refreshing.
My only negative is his nickname for her - I didn’t mind it in some settings but he overused it at times and it didn’t feel genuine.
I can’t wait for the rest of this series and the little teases of the next book main characters makes me want it now!
Thank you to The Author Agency for this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review!
4 stars for Nate Walsh and his Kitten, Cat ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cat Daniels has a heart of gold. She works as a waitress at the Terrace Steakhouse and she is constantly looking out for others, volunteering at shelters and always saves some of her paycheck to donate. She is strong, independent and kind. I loved her immediately.
Nathaniel Walsh is one of Toronto's hottest billionaires. As the CEO of United Protection Services, he has a busy life and avoids people who aren't his 4 closest friends at all costs. That is until after one of his poker nights he enters his buildings private elevator and finds a waitress who shouldn't be there waiting for him. After a break in at her apartment, Nate offers Cat to stay with him and to come work as his new assistant at UPS. Cat takes up Nate's offer and from there on their story only gets steamier.
Cat and Nate were two very different people who came from two different sides of the world. However, after their initial meeting you realize that they have more in common with one another than you thought. I really enjoyed seeing Cat and Nate grow close. Nate opened up to her and only for her and Cat was just a sweetheart. Nate was just so obsessed with Cat and I loved how much he cared for her. Letting her stay with him after the break in? That was just so sweet. The chemistry between these two was hot. They were attracted to one another from the start and I loved it.
I loved Pippa and all of Nate's friends: Beau, Ryan, James and Luke. The 5 of them were awesome and so supportive of Cat and Nate. I'm excited to learn more about each of the guys and can't wait for their HEA's.
If you love a good boss x assistant, grumpy/sunshine romance, then Bossy Wicked Prince is the book for you!
Thank you to Lena Hunt and Candi Kane PR for my ARC.
I love a good grumpy x sunshine story - it’s set in CANADA, by a Canadian author 🥳 I was more than excited to read this and it did NOT disappoint.
Cat is our sunshine FMC, a waitress who spends way too much of her money on donations while barely making rent 😭 Nate is our grumpy MMC, a billionaire workaholic who’s notoriously cold and antisocial
Nate basically rescued Cat one night from a dirtbag coworker and the rest is history 😩
This story was cute and romantic and mushy and warm.. and we got a trip to Paris ! 🥰
Lol I have a personal vendetta against the nickname “Kitten” - otherwise, I have no notes
Can’t wait for book 2 😮💨
THANK YOUU @authorlenahunt & @theauthor.agency for the ARC 💕
I loved this!! i’ve been in such a reading slump i’m so excited to find a book that i love and want to continue the series. (edit: pls im so sad i just realized the rest of the series isn’t out yet 😭😭😭)
Nate is a classic grumpy billionaire and it isn’t until he notices Cat buying hotdogs for two homeless guys (and then sitting down to eat with them) that he starts to care about someone other than himself, his best friends or his company.
Shortly after, he has a run in with Cat when she’s trying to get away from the new chef at the restaurant she works at that doesn’t know how to take for an answer and he’s basically a lot cause at that point.
he would do anything to keep her safe, including using his security cameras to make sure she gets home safe and letting her crash at his apartment after she has a break in. He ends up hiring her as her assistant but their professional relationship quickly turns personal 👀
-grumpy x sunshine -boss x assistant -he falls first and hard -billionaire romance -soft only for her -slow burn, quick spice -forced proximity -secret relationship -groveling
normally i would absolutely hate the nickname Kitten but her name is Cat so i can let it slide 🥴🐱
**Thank you to the author, Lena Hunt, and The Author Agency, for providing me with an e-ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.**

“You’re kind of bossy, aren’t you?” … “I’m only bossy when it matters.”
Fiercely independent and passionate about helping others, Cat Daniels is as stubborn as she is selfless. When an attempt to avoid the harassment of a coworker pushes her into the “arms” (well, elevator) of her “knight in shining armour”, Nate Walsh, Cat is immediately drawn to the billionaire everyone says is cold… but wasn’t with her. Despite their brief encounter, Nate quickly becomes enthralled by Cat’s sunshine-like personality - a stark contrast to his grumpy self. After discovering Cat’s apartment has been broken into, Nate is quick to not only offer her his spare room, but a job as his assistant as well. Will they be able to withstand and build something from the undeniable chemistry between them, or will it leave everything they’ve worked for in flames?
First and foremost, I can’t tell you how excited I was that a Canadian author gave their book a Canadian setting! When a book is set in a real place, I’m so used to seeing them set in the US, that this was such a welcomed change.
Looking at the storyline itself, I’m happy to say that my excitement carried through to the end of this read. I loved Cat’s character and could understand so much of how she was thinking and feeling throughout the novel. It was so easy to connect with her and root for her from the beginning. When it came to her relationship with Nate, I loved their banter, chemistry, and the spice was on point without overshadowing the storyline. With Nate’s character, I was a tad skeptical at first, but as he allowed himself to warm up around Cat, I started to love his character. I especially respected not only how he stood up for her to his poker buddies, but how he valued, honoured, and encouraged her passion for helping others. Cat didn’t have to sacrifice any part of herself to be with Nate, which was the cherry on top for me in this read.
My only (minor) wish is that we could have seen a little more depth to Nate’s character. I felt like there was more that could’ve been explored surrounding his family and his upbringing. This could’ve supported his character and built upon it a bit more. However, that is not to discount the growth we certainly did see in Nate’s character - how he prioritized Cat’s passion for helping others, leaning into this himself, and changing how he interacted with others in vulnerable situations.
For fans of a spicy, grumpy x sunshine, billionaire boss romance, Bossy Wicked Prince is one to be adding to your TBR immediately. Be sure to also keep your eyes peeled for the next book in the House of Cards series - I know I can’t wait to devour the next book in this series!
🔹Boss/employee 🔹Grumpy x Sunshine 🔹He falls first 🔹Praise kink 🔹Overprotective MMC 🔹Billionaire romance
This book follows Cat & Nate — two people from completely different worlds who somehow fit together perfectly. It’s no surprise he fell first… and fell hard. 😮💨❤️🔥
Cat is such a gentle, giving soul — the kind of woman who pours so much of herself into her passions that she nearly burns out. Meanwhile, Nate is our grumpy, workaholic billionaire who communicates 90% of the time through… grunts. 😏💼 And honestly? It works for him.
Thanks to Nate’s overprotective “I’ll handle it” energy, he swoops in to rescue Cat from a stressful situation — which leads to him hiring her as his assistant. And that is when the sparks stop crackling and start full-on igniting. 🔥🔥🔥
I loved watching Cat pull Nate out of his shell and force him to actually interact with people… using real words, not noises. Their shared family wounds and struggles made them incredibly relatable and added so much emotional depth to their story.
The chemistry? Electric. The spice? Delicious. The banter? Chef’s kiss. And don’t even get me started on Nate’s chaotic “poker” friend group — absolute icons. I cannot wait for their books. 🃏💙
Overall, this was such an enjoyable, heartfelt, and spicy read. Highly recommend if you love grumps, sunshine, and billionaires who fall first and fall hard. ✨📚💕

What a great start to The House of Card Series! I loved Lena's writing and I'm a sucker for grumpy/sunshine romances. I can't wait for book 2 in the series.
“Such a good listener, Kitten.”
Cat is our independent fmc! She spends so much time taking care of others she often forgets to take care of herself! After a run in with grumpy billionaire Nate she ends up with a new job as his assistant.
Nate is our playboy billionaire mmc! He is grumpy and closed off only happy around his friend. He does not do relationships and is happy with how his life is. After a run in on his private elevator with Cat he has the desire to help her and offers her a job.
What I loved about this book was Cat's desire to help those around her and the carried over to Nate, even though it started because he was obsessed with her safety. Once they got together the spice was hot 🥵 and I loved how Cat could just let Nate take over and quiet her mind.
What will Cat do though when she finds out how far Nate has gone to keep her safe? What happens when the person you should be able to trust the most goes behind your back to sabotage your new relationship?
The first book in the House of Cards series, and Bossy Wicked Prince, tells the story of Cat Daniels, a young woman who, despite having very little, dedicates every spare moment and cent to helping the homeless for deeply personal reasons. She came to the attention of billionaire Nate Walsh who initially used his security firm to keep an eye on her, but as he saw more of her, he became increasingly eager to improve her life and even though she was perfectly content with her life the way it was, she soon found herself working as his personal assistant and living in his guest room and before long had began a relationship with him that could ultimately end up costing him everything if it was made public.
I’m a bit on the fence about the character of Cat. She was a bit of a Pollyanna always out to do good but with no sense of her own personal safety. Nate must’ve had a bit of a knight complex to put up with her. They were complete opposites, coming from opposite ends of the social spectrum with absolutely nothing in common and their relationship just didn’t ring true for me. What I did love about this book was Nate’s poker buddies. There was a naturalness to their friendship, and their group dynamics and dialogue had me laughing at some of their antics and have left me looking forward to reading more from this series.
Cat is a waitress with a soft spot for the unhoused, and Nate is a billionaire. They have nothing in common, but cross paths because Cat works in the building where Nate lives. After Nate protects her from a creepy coworker, and then her apartment is broken into, Nate hires her as his assistant. Their worlds are intertwined though, as Cat’s boss is one of the “Black Card Group” And Cat’s best friend is the stepsister of another friend in the group. Cue the found family y’all know I love so much.
This book is the epitome of grumpy sunshine and I devoured it! As mentioned above, I also loved the relationship with Nate and his friend group. The thanksgiving scenes were total perfection. I am excited to read each of the guy’s stories. The spice? I will probably blush the next time I tell someone pink is my favorite color. I did like how the author delved into both of Cat & Nate’s insecurities. They have vastly different backgrounds but both are still terrified of rejection and feeling like they aren’t worthy. The excerpts from The Toronto Tea were fun, very gossip girl vibes. All in all I loved this series. Snark, Spice & Protective Billionaires, SIGN ME UP
This is book one in the House of Cards series by Lena Hunt and I am so excited for more!
I’m such a sucker for a grumpy x sunshine romance, and when you throw in an office boss/assistant dynamic… sign me right up. Cat is everything I love in a heroine: independent, kind, intelligent and full of warmth. She’s the type of woman who hasn’t let the world dim her light and it absolutely shows.
Nate, on the other hand, is broody, awkward in social settings and very much a workaholic billionaire who’d rather be left alone. But when these two collide? Magic. They give each other exactly what they’ve been missing. Nate spoils Cat, praises her and makes her feel safe, while she softens his edges and reminds him there’s more to life than work.
I melted during the scene where Nate helped Cat through her panic attack. He was so calm, steady and tender with her. It showed just how much he adored her. And don’t even get me started on the spice… it was spicing! Every look and every touch was loaded with intensity and emotion. The slow burn between them built until it finally exploded in the best, most deliciously fiery way.
The third-act breakup hurt, but it was worth it to see how much both of them grew and changed. Their HEA was so deserved.
And I have to mention the side characters! Nate’s friend group and Cat’s bestie Pippa were so much fun. The banter, chaos and camaraderie were perfection. I can’t wait for more stories from this world, especially if they’re half as swoony as Nate and Cat’s.
Cat is a waitress trying to reach her goals, while spending all her free time volunteering at a homeless shelter. After being harrassed by another employee at work, she gets away by escaping into the elevator, only to run into one of the regular customers, who she knows lives in the building. As he insists on ensuring she gets home safely after her late shifts, he ends up being with her when she finds her apartment has been broken into and immediately offers her his spare room until security measures can be upgraded in her home. While she feels attracted to him, she tries to ignore it, knowing it could never go anywhere, but when he offers her a job as his new assistant, it becomes even harder to ignore the connection
Nate is the CEO of a billion dollar security empire, when he runs into Cat, he quickly becomes entralled, pushing the line of obsession. Known for being difficult to deal with by employees, she seems to be the only one able to break down his walls. As much as he tries to stay away, he finds himself unable to stop from touching her, and when he finally gives in, he is unable to let go, no matter the risk.
I received an early copy of this book to review and I really enjoyed it. The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts, and adding Nate’s friends group to the mix made everything so much better. While Nate’s obsession with safety and control definitely crosses more than a few lines, watching him be vulnerable both with and for her, and being willing to tear everything down if it means giving her what she wants and needs, made this a must read book!
Cat is a strong, independent woman with a radiant light that illuminates any room she enters. Although she carries wounds from the past, she always tries to see the positive side of things, even though mistrust sometimes gets the better of her.
Nate, on the other hand, is her complete opposite. He is, in every sense of the word, the grumpy prince of the story, with a dominant, protective personality and a family history full of secrets that made him reserved and distrustful.
Their first encounter was a true twist of fate, although Nate had already been fixated on her for some time. Destiny decided to bring them together, and thus began a story that was anything but easy. They both faced many obstacles; Cat feared the world Nate came from, but he decided to fight until the very end to protect her.
Through their ups and downs, the emotions between them simmered slowly, until they became an inevitable combustion. I loved seeing how Nate strived to love Cat, to open his heart, and above all, to acknowledge his mistakes when he was wrong. I'm not exaggerating when I say I cried.
I was deeply moved by how Cat brought light into Nate's life, how she gave him a safe place where he could finally feel loved, and how Nate did the same for Cat, giving her security and someone to lean on. Together they found what they had always been searching for: someone who loved them purely and sincerely. They overcame every obstacle in their path, and their story was, without a doubt, beautiful. I loved every detail, every expression of love, and the tension that slowly built until it exploded, when neither of them could escape what they felt.
I also had a lot of fun with the antics of Nate's friends and Cat's friend; they provided lighthearted and charming moments that perfectly balanced the story.
I have a feeling the second book will be about two very special secondary characters: someone very close to Cat, like a sister to her, and one of Nate's best friends. If my intuition is correct, it's going to be a book full of spark, tension, and funny moments, because those two seem capable of killing each other at any moment, especially now that they have to share a space. Anyway, I loved this book from beginning to end. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you to The Author Agency for this ARC. This is a new to me author and I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to the rest of this series.
Cat is an independent as they come. She has a heart of gold and works countless jobs so that she can donate money back to the shelters. Nate is the CEO of United Protection Services and keeps to himself. This earns him a nickname of Prince Frowning. He has a close knit group of friends that he keeps close with and spends time with if he is not working. These two could not be more opposite in their daily lives. After an incident that left Nate "rescuing" Cat from the chef waitresses for, he is left with a need to protect her. Nate is randomly there for Cat and after a break in to her apartment, he out of no where decides that she should move into his place until things get fixed.
Cat ends up working as Nate's assistant to make extra money. Nate cannot understand the pull he has towards Cat. He leads by structure and Cat disturbs that for him. Cat is everything light that Nate needs in his life. The chemistry is a go from the beginning from these two. They each had different obstacles in their lives that shaped them. But these two find that being with each other that their is pure simple love out there.
I love the banter between these two. The communication could use some work but what else can you expect LOL. I love the friendship with the guys that play a part. They are little cupids helping them out.
It took me no time at all to devour this book. Cat has such a heart of gold — she’s always trying to do the best for others. She doesn’t like having more than anyone else and constantly looks for ways to share with those less fortunate. Her kindness makes her impossible not to love.
Nate, on the other hand, is pure swoon material. The way he looks out for Cat’s safety is both protective and endearing. Some might see it as a red flag, but the intensity of his need to keep her safe comes from such a genuine place that it’s hard not to melt a little. It’s no surprise he’s the one who falls first — and he falls hard.
Nate just wants to spoil her, and Cat struggles with it because she’s not used to being cared for like that. I loved that Nate never hides his intentions. Reading his every thought, knowing his next move — and yes, he makes some big moves — made his character even more addictive. The chemistry between Nate and Cat was fire; every moment between them was filled with heat, emotion, and connection.
I also absolutely loved Nate’s friends. The way they welcomed Cat and supported Nate was genuinely heartwarming. Knowing they’ll each get their own stories has me counting down the days — I honestly can’t decide who I’m most excited for, but I plan to get to know them all.
I’ve never tried this hard to please a woman before – I never wanted to, before her.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Lena has written a great book. The MMC is an overprotective, grumpy billionaire who runs a security company, he lives in a high rise building who also houses his 4 friends and their businesses. Nate is a control freak he means well but he feels he has to protect people no matter the consequences.
Cat she's the total opposite of Nate she's sunshine and warmth, she gives to the homeless, befriends everyone she meats, she's a hard worker, too kind for her own good despite her own demons. So what happens when she's harassed and Nate comes to her rescue. Well the answers obvious he can't look away because every grump needs there sunshine.
Nate hires cat to be his assistant despite knowing he had feelings for her which could be a disaster waiting to happen, as the press will hound them. Cat teaches Nate to be more more laid back, to see the bigger picture and to want to help the world, Nate teaches Cat to be more selfish to take what she needs in the world she isn't taking from other, they work but what happens when there relationships in the open, when family betrays family and Nate's need for control becomes clear?
Well written, fast paced with funny side characters and protective besties, potential for more stories based on the side characters and enjoyable plot.
Definitely recommend
I got this book as an arc copy. I am choosing to leave a review voluntarily
Cat's caught the eye of serious, stoic billionaire, Nate, and she doesn't realize it until she accidentally goes into the wrong elevator at her job, to get away from the creepy chef who won't take the hint when she says no to his many offers for a date. But now that he and Cat have had their first important interaction, Nate's found a way to have her in his life - offering her a place to stay and a job at his private security company. Now they're in such close proximity, opening up to each other is inevitable, as is giving into their chemistry. They have a chance of something beautiful, if the big secret Nate's hiding doesn't ruin everything.
I love a good opposites attract love story, especially when the FMC is as kind and compassionate as Cat, and brings her very opposite man to his knees, knocks him off kilter the way Cat does to Nate. They're definitely opposites, in every way, good and bad. Nate loves the very things about Cat that he aspires to be - warm, compassionate, and loving, and falling in love with her has him indeed opening up and becoming the good person he is beneath all the brooding billionaire. Nate's friends are along for the ride, driving him crazy with their meddling and snark, but also offering up intriguing glimpses of their stories to come. The House of Cards series is off to a great start with Nate and Cat.
ARC provided by The Author Agency for an honest review.
Cat is a pick me tbh. She’s painted as this saint and it’s beyond nauseating. She’s one of those people that wouldn’t allow anyone to complain about any shitty aspect of their life because someone else always has it worse. Girl bye. The entire thing is just very cringe. It has a few sweet moments but they’re overshadowed by dumb conflicts. Stalking and him trying to keep her safe are two different things. You’d think he was the one harassing her the way she got so upset about his security footage. The stupidest part is she knows she makes poor risky unsafe choice. I mean come on walking home alone late at night? Bffr. I wanted to dnf honestly but I was already almost done so I just dragged through the last bit. The last 25% felt like I was being bread crumbed for an accidental pregnancy with how many cream pies they make. Kinda disappointed we didn’t get one just a mid engagement scene. I didn’t absolutely hate it but it isn’t great. Definitely won’t be reading the rest of the series.
Favorite lines:
“Unless you’re into getting railed in a luxury bed and then never talking to the guy again,” she jokes. “I mean, if you are, then by all means, live your best life.”
“Following is not the same as stalking,”
But we’re hungry! Send hot dogs.
Only if you behave.
Never mind, then.
he’s not a man of words—he’s a man of action.
I don’t do hope. I do terms.

If you're looking for your next forced proximity meets grumpy/sunshine book, then look no further!
This was my first time reading this author, so I went in not knowing what to expect but boy, did the author really pack in all the addicting tropes us readers love to read.
In this book you meet the frosty grumpy billionaire Nate and the walking ray of sunshine, Cat Daniels. The book delivers the ultimate grumpy meets pure hearted boss-employee dynamic. The tension from the get-go was so frustrating but also satisfying because the payoff was worth it.
I loved how this author really made us yearn for the characters to be together. Nate was so funny because he really is so grumpy but then Cat changed everything for him, and he right away starts giving us "I hate everyone but her" vibes.
Nate's friend group was another great highlight in this book. I loved their tight-knit crew and how they are all down for each other. This author really set up their characters perfectly because you really want to know more about his friends and who they'll end up with.
Overall, this book was very pleasant to read and much different from my usual reads. Will definitely be continuing the series and can't wait to read more from this author.
🔥 Bossy Wicked Prince by Lena Hunt is wicked and spicy! Nate Walsh absolutely lives up to the title of Lena Hunt’s brand new release, Bossy Wicked Prince. In Cat’s eyes he is exactly as the title suggests, a BOSSY WICKED PRINCE!! Nathaniel “Nate” Walsh is one swoony, sexy, gorgeous man with a huge side of grumpiness. Nate is the CEO of a super successful Tech company and has to live with secrets from his Dad. Nate becomes super protective of Cat when he discovers she is being harassed by a coworker. Caitlin “Cat” Daniels works hard to support herself and provide as much help as possible to a local shelter. She is such a huge influence on Nate. Their love story will melt your heart. I’ve learned that Lena Hunt writes heartfelt, emotional love stories that will tug and tear at your heart, and in the end her characters' hearts and yours will be put back together. There’s a bit of tension between them thanks to someone trying to destroy what Nate and Cat are trying to build. I loved watching both characters grow in maturity and trust. Nate truly grows the most thanks to Cat’s amazingly good heart. This was a very seductive, sensual, swoony, and beautiful love story. Those between-the-sheets scenes you wonder about? Trust me, you’ll need a fan! They are bossy wicked!!💕
From the first page, I was hooked. Cat is one of those heroines who quietly steals your heart — thoughtful, selfless, and grounded. She doesn’t chase attention or luxury; she simply wants to do good, and that makes her shine all the brighter.
Then there’s Nate — the definition of a possessive, protective hero done right. His need to keep Cat safe never feels controlling, just deeply caring. You can feel how much she means to him in every word, every action. When he falls, he really falls, and watching that unfold was absolute perfection.
Their chemistry? Off the charts. Every scene between them sizzles with tension and emotion, but it’s the softer moments — the vulnerability, the trust — that truly make their relationship stand out.
And Nate’s circle of friends? Total gems. The way they rally around both Nate and Cat adds warmth and humor to the story, and now I’m dying to see each of them find their own happily ever after.
If you love protective heroes, heroines with genuine hearts, and romance that makes you feel everything, Bossy Wicked Prince is a must-read.
*I received a free copy and chose to leave an honest review.
Bossy Wicked Prince was my first read by Lena Hunt, and I really enjoyed it! Cat and Nate came from completely different worlds, but the way they connected felt so natural. I loved watching them grow closer—Nate opening up to Cat, and Cat being her sweet, grounding self. He was so obsessed with her in the best way possible, and that scene where he let her stay after the break-in? Adorable. Their chemistry was seriously on fire from the start.
I also loved the banter between everyone, especially Nate’s friend group—they’re hilarious and full of personality. I’m already looking forward to seeing more of Beau, Ryan, James, and Luke in future books. They brought such a fun balance to the story.
If I had one wish, it’d be for more depth in Nate’s backstory with his parents—it felt like there was so much more to uncover. And honestly, he could’ve groveled a little harder after what happened. Still, this was a super entertaining, steamy, and charming read that definitely made me curious to explore more from this author!
Thank you to The Author Agency and Lena Hunt for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, I absolutely devoured this book! Once I started reading, I could not put this down. The tension and angst between Cat and Nate was so strong and incredibly wrote. I loved the plot, the amount of spice sprinkled throughout and how Cat and Nate’s life intertwined together.
Holy cow - Nate was such a force 😍 this man was not only possessive of his woman but so filthy. The praise was an all time high in this book and I adored it. His cocky, cold attitude fit perfectly with Cat’s sunshine and friendly personality. All the forced proximity moments were high heat and passion fueled. From the beginning, Nate begins to lose control when it comes to Cat. Watching this man unravel at the seams for a woman was so sexy.
Cat doesn’t give in to Nate’s advances at first because she believes he’s like all other rich men - using money to get what he wants. When a tragic event happens and her and Nate are pushed close together, that stubbornness only last for so long. I adored how she submitted to her man but not without him knowing exactly who was in control. Cat truly brought out the best in Nate and made him realize everything that he was missing out on.
