Seven years ago, Claire woke up scared and alone in the woods without a clue as to who she was or where she came from. She’s adapted since then. Learned to hide what she doesn’t know, to create a façade to protect her secret from even her closest friends. But now an injury has isolated her even further and life has just simply ground to a halt.

The day Claire first sees William, his blue eye electrifying the air between them, she gets what she wants most in the world. A memory. After seven years of faking it, of not knowing anything or anyone, she knows William. She’s unnerved by him. Mesmerized. He sweeps into her bitter little life, unconcerned about hiding the truth behind his quick movements and cold skin. The moment they’re alone, he sinks his teeth into her throat, drinks her blood, and fills her with his own.

For Claire, it’s like coming home.

Now she sees better, hears better, and thinks faster. Thrust into a world where nothing is as it seems, Claire learns she has dangerous enemies. She stumbles from discovery to discovery, desperate for answers, each piece of the puzzle bringing her closer to those who have sworn to see Claire dead.

I first came across Façade in one of the many eBook bargain emails I get in my inbox every day and was immediately struck by the cover design. For one reason or another I let the book slip through my grasp. But then I came across Façade again and I vividly remembered the cover; I knew at that point I couldn’t let it get away from me again.

If you’re expecting a typical, predictable vampire romance in Façade, expect to be surprised! There are so many plot twists and turns in this novel, most of which I did not foresee. R. M. Webb does a great job dropping little breadcrumbs of information at just the right times so that I was figuring everything out right along with the main character, Claire. Who is Claire? What happened to her seven years ago? And who exactly is this William guy she meets? The answers to these questions were so much better than what I was expecting!

This is the first book in a proposed trilogy and I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the series. I’d like to see Claire get more of the answers to her questions about her past in the next few books, mostly because I want to know how in the world she was able to do what she did. I’m dying to spill what I know about Claire’s past, but I won’t spoil it! If you want to know, you’ll just have to read Façade. You will not be disappointed.

Many thanks to the author and the Lovers of Paranormal Goodreads group for providing me with a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great first book from this author.

I usually struggle a lot with vampire books. I think Twilight and that whole fiasco sort of turned me off books that are centered on vampires but this was really well written. It follows the story of Claire, a young woman who, due to some unfortunate events, can no longer do the one thing she loves most: ballet. Instead, her friends dance while she plays piano for them, never really being able to look up from the keyboard. She only remembers the last 7 years of her life and she cannot connect with people easily like others seem to. So Claire puts on a brave face and tries to mimic as best she can. Then, William enters the picture. He is strong. He is demanding. And he knows all about her past and wants to help her in any way that he can. What follows is a whirlwind adventure with revenge, betrayal, lust, love, confusion, and blood. This is not an easy road but it is what it will take to make everything right again.

I felt so sorry for Claire at the beginning. I know how it is to watch all your friends do what you love and you are physically unable to participate anymore. It is heartbreaking. It kills you slowly and people will still try to be nice about it but it feels like a huge chunk of you is ripped out. So she is already feeling lost without dance then add onto that not knowing anything about her past and she is looking at a lot of loneliness. I can't imagine what that must have felt like.

William steps up though and shows her what she truly is. Unfortunately, her best friend Josh gets wrapped up in this whole thing and he suffers the consequences. It was hard not to sympathize with him throughout the book because he friendzoned himself real bad. Poor lamb.

The conflict in this book was compelling as well. There is nothing as juicy as revenge really.

Overall, a solid read.

Facade was quite a different vampire love story. Although there is romance ir wasn't really the focus of thr story but of Claire, who apparently lost her memories seven years ago and that William, the man she meets at a cafe seems quite familiar to her and it seems he is keeping secrets about Claire's identity.

Thisnwas actually very intriguing especially when I was curious to find out about Claire and I was totally not expecting that. I really liked the part where Claire believes William even when he admitted what he is and about herself. Plus, their connection to one another is strong despite Claire's forgotten memories. William was her knight in shining armore and I can't believe it took William that long to contact her in order to protect her. Althoguh, I'm still confuse about how her situation came to be with that incident seven years ago.

I liked Claire's character and she was easy to understand. She's very strong in character besides physically. I wished there was more romance between William ans Claire but it was nice to know their past especially learning about Claire's feelings towards him thr first time they met. I won't spoil anymore but I pitied those around Claire.

I thought it was simple when they only had one enemy apparently it isn't. I had a feeling this wasn't a stand alone book but part of a series. The ending wasn't exactly a cliffhanger but you'll be wanting to read more. Their situation got even stickier and that twist in the end, I did not see coming.

The problem I have with this author is that the love factor consistently totals up to 'I laid my head against his chest'. Hey, I want true love to go way further than this meagre suggestion. This is the ceiling of frustration. I might have been a virgin by 18 but even then I had gotten further than my tonsils. Can't we have at least got a fine piece of action? This author is a good writer so please throw in, at least some, tactful action if nothing else. So much for a reader pity shag. :)

Excellent book

This was an excellent book. I think the best vampire book I have read in a long time. It is well written, interesting, full of excitement, love, and lots to keep you thinking. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who likes vampire books. I will start the next one in this series with great anticipation.

Facade: A Vampire Love Story (Immortal Memories, #1) by R.M. Webb

Facade: A Vampire Love Story (Immortal Memories, #1) by R.M. Webbtells the story of Claire who woke up in the woods seven years ago and has no memory of who she is or where she is from.
Claire goes through her days, trying to rebuild her life, all the while desperately trying to remember who she was before she woke up in the woods. Claire has made friends with Josh (who ends up being in love with Claire) and Kate, who she used to dance ballet with until she hurt her ankle. Now, she plays piano at their rehearsals.

Claire was having coffee at the café across the street from the dance studio and a handsome man walked in (William). She had a feeling of familiarity looking at him. However, Claire had no idea if or where she would know this man from. Claire discreetly kept an eye on this exquisite man, however, he caught her watching him. Claire was embarrassed that she was caught .

The next day, Claire goes to the dance studio to play piano. Claire could not watch the dancers because she did not want to let her resentment about not being able to dance to show. After rehearsal was over, Claire headed over to the café. When she walked in, she saw William and he nodded his head at her acknowledging her. He later came over and sat with her at her table. They end up going back to her house and William tells her that they know each other.

This is where the story takes off. William feeds from Claire, beginning her transformation back into a vampire. William tells Claire only bits of information. He tells her it’s for her own protection but she wishes he would tell her more.

After William feeds from her a third time and then feeds Claire his blood(finishing the transformation process) he tells Claire to go and find some place safe to hide and he will find her in a couple of days. He tells Claire that he wanted to deal with the council and Sybil.

Claire is a bit upset but she ends up going to Josh’s house since just the day before he professed his love to her, so she knew she would be safe there. Claire ends up feeding off of Josh, almost killing him. After Josh regains his strength, he tests Claire to see what she could do. Claire feeds from Josh again but leaves his house because she doesn’t want to hurt him.

Claire ends up killing two people. She contacts William mentally and he tells her he is on the way. William then takes Claire in front of the Council and Sybil. Sybil ends up making Josh a vampire, and Sybil also makes William and Claire submit to her willingly. They all go on a killing spree due to Sybil’s influence.

They end up going back to Sybil’s house where Sybil shackles them with silver chains. Claire tries to fight the influence of Sybil but after Sybil kills Josh something snaps in Claire. Claire does not obey Sybil and Claire almost kills Sybil but Sybil was able to get away.

Claire rescues William who tells her to free the Exiled and get her memory back from the Exiled so they can figure out what to do next. Claire gets some of her memory back and she vows vengeance for Josh’s murder.

After a big battle with Sybil, where Claire kills Sybil, they go back to Williams night club. While there, Claire and William meet with the Council. They explain to Claire that before she lost her memory, they (The Council minus Sybil, William and Claire) planned to kill Sybil because she was evil. It was decided that Claire would kill Sybil; one because she volunteered and two because she was the strongest. Now they had to plan phase two, watching and waiting to see what the Exiled do.

Facade: A Vampire Love Story (Immortal Memories, #1) by R.M. Webb seemed a bit muddled in the beginning. However, by the middle of the book it developed into a provocative vampire story. The story has engaging characters that have their own unique voice that develop throughout the story.

Webb ‘s writing style gives the reader just enough that it peaks their interest and makes them want to find out what is going to happen next. Webb’s writing style is pleasing and perfect for this genre of writing. I think the story line has great promise and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the series story turns out.

Facade is a book definitely worth taking some time out of your day to read!

This review is from: Facade: A Vampire Love Story (Immortal Memories Book 1)
I was given this book by the Lovers of Paranormal group for an honest review. 3 1/2 stars so yes...and no.
I'm torn over how to proceed with this review because I started to set the book aside several times. I only persevered because I appreciate how much time and effort go into writing a novel.
The first, almost, 2/3rds of the story just didn't keep my interest. Because my attention kept wandering, I became confused several times - mired in an overload of information that made the plot unwieldy and hard to follow. Every now and again I'd glean a piece of wheat (plot) from the chat (data dump) and when I did, it was good.
Claire, the main character, was once a vampire. Somehow, she gets turned human again during a botched coup against Sybil, the eldest vampire. Claire, now suffering from amnesia, tries to make it in the human world until William, previously turned by Claire, finds his mistress/lover. Yet, to me, the romance between them seems rather flat. Throughout I felt ambivalent about William. He plays his part by turning Claire back into a vampire, but his reappearance in her life seemed opportunistic. He never convinced me that he was either a worthy hero or that he truly loved Claire. She seemed more of a tool for him and the other vampires to use to go after Sybil again.
It wasn't until the last third of the book that my attention was firmly captured. Man, did I perk up. "Ah," I thought as Josh, Claire's human buddy and secondary love interest was turned into vampire, "this author has thrown me a curve I didn't see coming." I became convinced he was Claire's real love and hero...and he does save her before being abruptly killed off. I deflated like a balloon.
However, I understand this is the first book of a series. If the author can keep up the action she developed in the latter part of Facade - the next installment might be something to check into.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from LoP or Lovers of Paranormal.

Synopsis:

Claire Jacoby is desperate to remember who she is and where she comes from. Isolated by the fact that she can’t remember her past, she builds a life, however hollow, out of the fragments of herself that remain. In the seven years since awaking alone and confused in the woods, she’s learned to hide behind social customs, creating a facade to protect the secret she hides from the rest of the world.

Claire is struggling with disconcerting flashes of information, unsettling thoughts and images that she fears are memories. When William Foley comes into Claire's favorite cafe, his very presence demanding her attention, she’s overcome by the sense that she knows him. He sweeps into her bitter, colorless little life, unconcerned about hiding his unnaturally quick movements and cold skin, and starts putting Claire back together piece by piece.

William knows Claire and has the answers to questions she’s been asking for seven years. He also knows she has dangerous enemies. William must protect Claire as she learns more about herself, each piece of the puzzle bringing her ever closer to those who have sworn to see Claire dead

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this book a lot. It had a great plot and the main character, Claire, was a lot of fun to read about. It was interesting to watch how Claire dealt with each struggle as it came her way.

William was a little harsh at times, and always brutally honest. He and Claire were very electric together. I loved the dynamic between the two characters. Their chemistry was explosive!

The author did a wonderful job, in building this world, and really kept me interested from the first page to the last. Facade was a brilliant story and I can NOT wait to read book 2 !

I would recommend this book to all lovers of Paranormal Romance.

Facade; A Vampire love story is the story of a Claire a young women who is a little unhappy with her life. Then William suddenly appears into her life. Claire feels that she has known William before but cannot remember where. For 7 years Claire has not known who she is. She has faked it and pretended that she knew who she was. But Claire knows William. However William is a vampire and as soon as she is alone with him he sinks his teeth into her neck and drinks her blood then he gives her his own blood. Suddenly she is able to see better or her better so she seeks him out. But then she finds her life turned upside down as she seeks to find more about her past. I enjoyed this vampire story but it is for adults. It is quite bloody in places and twice uses vulgar language. But I did enjoy the book and would read it again.

For a new author this is a pretty good book. Claire can only remember the last 7 years of her life. She was a ballerina until she was in an accident so now she only plays the piano for the dancers. One day she meets William and he tells her that he knows all about her. Should she trust William and believe what he tells her? Does he really know who she is and why she can't remember her life before? What will she find out about herself? I really liked this book and think this is an author to watch.

original review @ JC's Book Haven.

She shook her head to knock away the encroaching memories, those images from years ago that brought nothing but questions without answer. She pushed them back into their hiding place deep in her heart and climbed up the creaking wooden stairs and into bed.
Her last thought before she crossed the line into sleep was of the blonde haired man with the electric blue eyes at the cafe.

The Good

This one was a bit different from what I normally read. Most of the book is Claire trying to find out who she was and who she can trust as she begins to reveal her past. This is more of a romance/mystery novel as the past slowly catches up to her and those few people she considers friends. Facade does end with a bit of action taking place but for the most part it seems to be setting up Claire's world.

The Bad

When Claire finally deals with the main villain, Sybil, things seem to come to a conclusion a little faster than I was expecting. I would have liked to know a little more about some of the supporting characters, like the Babylonian for instance.

The Romance

Claire, while trying to recall who she was, runs into William, the blonde haired mystery man she can't help but be drawn too. All the while, she has Josh who wants nothing more than to be the one that matters most in her life. Not really a love triangle as she is drawn to William but keeps Josh around as he is familiar to her.

Conclusion

Overall, the book was enjoyable. I did like some of the powers displayed, and if you like romance there is plenty of romantic drama. It could have been longer, but it was enjoyable none-the-less. If you like supernatural with plenty of romance then you should enjoy Facade.

I was given this book by Lop or Lovers of Paranormal reading group in exchange for an honest review.

The novel follows Claire. A human woman who is struggling with not only the loss of being a ballerina, but also the loss of her memories. She goes through the motions everyday. Playing piano for the dancers at the ballet studio, that was once the studio where she danced as well. She was injured and as a result of that injury, she is no longer able to perform. Now she finds her daily routine of playing the piano and later dining in a restaurant located across the street, simply mundane. She feels that she is always on the outside looking in. Never quite belonging to the group of dancers but not happy with her life of solitude either.

One day while dining in her cafe she notices William. Something inside of her recognizes him. She knows that she knows him but her memories will not return. He promises to give her the answers she craves if only she will trust him. Sometimes going against what she believes, she does trust William. She finds herself on the precipice or remembering her past, and thrust into her future.

Claire suddenly finds herself in the midst of a vampire war. A fight against those that would see the world as she knows it, decimated. Her friends Kate and Josh are unwittingly drawn into the foray, and it is up to her and her vampire allies to save the day. Claire is forced to suffer extreme loss and betrayal but through it all William remains by her side.

The story is fast and definitely keeps you hooked all the way through. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because it did not have much romance to it. The story alluded to it, even gave snippets of it but never quite made it. That being said, it was still a great read and I will definitely be looking for the next book in the series once it comes out.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal). I found this book to be a page turner. I kept reading to try to get to the core of the story but it took quite a while. The first 2/3rds of the book is outlining the story, the background and setting up relationships between the characters and the reader. I became fond of Claire's friends from dance very quickly. Claire's past with amnesia left me befuddled in the crisis she seems to have with wanting to know her past yet when old memories try to push through she tries to block it out. The story is hard to follow at times on subjects like that and things like never explaining the accident she had that ended her dancing career. The end of the book really picks up with action and flew by because of it. I was disappointed when her dance partner left the storyline... especially how he left the story. It seemed like there was so much time and energy put into developing the character for such a abrupt departure. Claire seemed to have a more caring and well developed relationship with him then the main male character in the book.
Overall, it was an enjoyable story. Well worth the read and I will definitely be looking for more books from R. M. Webb.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from LoP or Lovers of Paranormal.

I wish I can say I loved this book but for me it was just ok. I think it's because I've gotten out of sync with paranormal novels these days. I absolutely enjoyed the story! It was unique in its own ways and the (some) of the characters were great. I did think a few characters were there for no reason at all .

We are given small snip buts about Claire and it was obvious that the author was going to reveal more in later books. It was a little frustrating to know nothing about her and Will since we're supposedly reading a love story but we can feel a lot of the love since we don't know them.

Overall it does seem a like it would be a good series, just some minor errors here and there. I did want it to be fleshed out more? It was very rushed and characters and events happened too quickly for me.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review by Lovers of Paranormal. A vampire love story? Really? I didn’t feel the love in this story. Claire feels a connection to William, he says he loves her. She appears to love Josh her human friend more than William. Claire was turned human after a botched assassination attempt on Sybil, the oldest vampire. This leaves her with amnesia trying to find her place in the human world. William turns her back into a vampire but her memories don’t fully return, only bits and pieces. We see a side of Claire that I don’t really care for. Cold, arrogant and not too smart. Are William and Claire really lovers? Just not feeling it. The story drags until past midway when the action picks up. Editing is just OK, imagery is poor (no movie in my minds eye).

I was given a free copy to give my honest review. I loved this story it is a Vampire~Love/Mystery novel. Okay so all Claire can think of is the last 7 years of her life and how everything has changed. She cant Dance anymore since the accident cant even remember her life. So she try's to fake it till she makes it until William comes along. She feels like she knows William, but Claire cant really remember. Once alone with him her life changes and now she is chasing to find out about her life. This book was a great read but it is more for adults.

I really enjoyed the writing style of this book. I was intrigued with Claire's character. Her amnesia really limits her on certain things but she with all her struggling, she does try and make new memories and a life...

William was mean but real and I liked that - kinda like "tough love" saying.

Well worth the read and looking forward to #2
