Sarah Dahl lives at the edge of the rural German Eifel and writes historical fiction (novels and short stories) primarily set in the Viking age. She loves to challenge overused concepts of the time and its peoples in her writing, breaking them down to just that: men and women facing the immediacy of life and death, love and lust in a world of crackling fires and rough landscapes.
She also works as an editor, translates, and coaches new writers in German and English. She is interested in everyday life in bygone centuries and the human stories that may have occurred behind the hard, historical facts. Her author page is: sarah-dahl.com

Even if it's a Christian historical Christmas short story I fear some of the content will be considered highly offensive (hope it's the right word) by many more sensible readers.
It's the story of a new Christian in a Viking community and his influence on some few people and contains also the Christian and Christmas message -but it contains also mild graphic sexual content as well as some mocking of the Christian beliefs and pre-Christian pagan rituals.

I think every reader should be aware of what he or she will be confronted with and should have the possibility to choose if they want to deal with it. I'm happy I stumbled about this story since I'm able to deal with it without any problems and give a head up any of you who prefer not to deal with the content.

The reasons for the low two star rating are:
- I didn't like the characters
- The end appeared much too unrealistic

I think the concept isn't that bad it's even really promissing but tranformed into a novel or at least a lengthy novelly with enough space and time to develop the characters and events it could made an really interesting book.

Or set the other way round - the second star is there only because I was able to count this short story agains three challanges without much investment on my part ;-)
