Jack, Rumil, and the gang have made it back to Midgard… unfortunately so has Freyja. She is desperate to find Jormungandr, the Midgard Serpent, to continue Lord Azmodeous’s plan to start Ragnarok.
As if things weren’t bad enough, the rest of the realms are in turmoil. Queen Amalieah of the light elves is intent on re-starting the Elven Wars so she can finally wipe out the dark elves. With so much happening, it will take a combined effort on all fronts to put an end to the madness.
The Norns have cast the dice and the fates have been read; it is now time for Jack to embrace his or else!
I live in Orlando, FL with my wife, son, and dog. Writing has always been a passion of mine and I am happy to bring my crazy visions life. Check out Ragnarok on Ice (Norse adventures trilogy), The Inglewood Chronicles (a supernatural mystery series), and The Negative Man (a superhero action series) at your convenience!
I have read all of Jeremy Croston's book series 'Ragnarok on Ice' to date and 'Penalty Kill' is his newest continuation of that. I was lucky enough to read this one as a pre-order from the author and it did not disappoint. I feel like I know the main character, Jack Skelton and his crew personally by now. In this newest saga, Jack and his team have finally made it back to Midgard but so has Freyja who is determined to seek out the Midgard serpent, Jormungandr in order to set the ball in motion and continue the plan to start Ragnarok. The realms are in chaos now and Jack needs to find a way to step up to his fate that was cast upon him, and stop all the mayhem.
I'm a huge fan of mystical and sci-fi fantasy adventures and set in a strange and dark underworld 'penalty Kill' reads smoothly the the thickening plot is well adapted to set the mood for the next interlude to begin.
If unfamiliar to this series, you may find it a little confusing in parts, but you'll find it packs a mean punch and it won't take you long to get into the sequence of events though I do suggest you read the first one 'Power Play' book 1, in this epic journey to be able to enjoy 'Penalty Kill' to the fullest.
I've read all of the Ragnarok on Ice series and the author Jeremy sent me a copy of Penalty Kill pre-release to give a review. The first book, Power Play, was really cool but this one blows it away. Picking up where Power Play and Hat Trick (which I thought was a cool idea) left off, we continue to follow the adventures of Jack and Rumil. This time, most of the story takes place here on Earth, or Midgard as the storyline refers to it, as the gang searches for Loki's other son. Also looking for him is Freyja, who has a few super powered goons this time around, so she can trigger Ragnarok.
A smaller portion of the story follows the goings on in the rest of the realms. Loki and Fenrir make an uninvited trip to Alfheim, we learn a lot more about Odin, and we get to meet an ice giant. Both stories evenutally come together in an ending that I sure didn't see coming. The book ends on the expected cliffhanger, but its one I dount anyone can predict.
There are a few chapters that tend to drag, maybe 2-3 tops, but they do provide valuable information. Overall, the story is fantastic and I am kinda ticked that I have to wait now to see how the series finishes. Five stars for this one, all the way.
After reading two of this authors books 'The Cactus Killer' and 'Power Play', I decided to give Hat Trick a try. Though not as long as the other two books, it was just as good. Jeremy Croston is probably one of my favorite writers as he pens with such depth and feeling which never seems to fade. There is nothing like a novelette that smoothly draws you into another time and place that plays with the imagination to it's fullest capacity. Pavel is my favorite character being secretive and fierce. It's funny because I have a Russian friend called Pavel, though he certainly isn't courageous as the Pavel Federov in this saga lol. Join him in this fiery fantasy and let the journey begin to stop Ragnarok from..... well, you'll just have to read it - I promise you wont be disappointed. Highly recommended.
The Ragnorak on Ice series is amazing, and each book is even better than the last! Penalty Kill was so intense I couldn't put it down. This book was filled with surprises, and the ending left me shocked. As with every book in this series, I love the title and how it relates to the story. I usually am able to predict how a story will end, but Penalty Kill had me guessing the entire time and I still ended up surprised. Jack is such a fun character and I always love reading his adventures, but this time I seriously can't wait to see what is going to happen next!
Hat Trick was an excellent novella in the Ragnarok on Ice series! I loved the basis for the title, and I loved how the time difference between realms coincided with the events in Power Play. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Pavel and Kacey. As with the other books in this series, be prepared for a surprise twist! A really great read, I highly recommend it!
This is a short novella in the Ragnarok on Ice series. It is best is you read Power Play first. Pavel Federov is not a Russian who is here to play hockey. Just who is he and is it a coincidence that he just happens to be on the same team as Jack Skelton?
Mythical Norse Gods in the nations capital. Retrieving an artifact from the Smithsonian Institution. Mythical creatures prowling the modern United States. This all comes together to create a fun little story. Although a bit short, it was an interesting tale!
