Escaping her past…means risking everything to stop a twisted obsession.
Jennie Neilson has spent years hiding from the man who nearly destroyed her. Determined to give her ten-year-old daughter, Zoey, a safe and normal life, she’s built her world around quiet routines and locked doors. But one innocent mistake—a text message sent to the wrong number—shatters that fragile peace and draws the attention of a predator who knows far too much about her.
Detective David Whitman, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, has made it his mission to hunt the monsters who prey on the innocent. When Zoey’s message surfaces in a case, he vows to protect the little girl and her mother at any cost. But David’s haunted by his own failures—the fiancée he couldn’t save, the guilt that won’t let go—and Jennie’s fierce independence tests the walls he’s built to keep his emotions buried.
As eerie reminders of Jennie’s past begin to appear, suspicion turns to terror. Could her abusive ex have found her? Or is someone even closer manipulating her fear? When Zoey vanishes, the desperate race to save her forces Jennie to confront the lies she’s lived with—and the horrifying truth she’s tried to forget.
Together, Jennie and David must rely on courage, faith, and each other to outsmart a cunning adversary whose obsession knows no bounds. But every move brings them closer to the edge, where one wrong choice could cost them everything.
Gripping, emotional, and heart-stopping, MINE is a pulse-pounding Christian romantic suspense Short Novel about redemption, second chances, and the unbreakable bond between a mother’s love and a man determined not to fail again.
Award-winning, bestselling author Sami Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn’t until her 30’s that she found authors that captured her attention. Now, most evenings, you can find her engrossed in a Romantic Suspense. In her opinion, a crime and a little romance is the recipe for a great story.
She lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.

Mine by Sami A. Abrams is fast-paced with non-stop action. The attacks and danger escalate when Zoey finds herself in a perilous situation, causing someone from Jennie's past to catch up with her. This suspense story has twists and turns that will leave readers guessing who is behind the attacks. Both David and Jennie have baggage from their respective pasts they have to deal with.
With creepy messages, threatening emails, near death experiences, they know someone is after them. Can the Detective David protect Jennie and Zoey and find the stalkers identity before its too late? Mine was a fast paced romantic suspense with plenty of twists! It kept me on the edge of my seat as I was just flipping the pages!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Someone is after Jennie Nielsen and her young daughter, Zoey. Det. David Whitman is determined to protect them both, but feels Jennie is holding something back. Tough topics are handled in Mine by author Sami Abrams. She handles them thoughtfully and carefully, having the reader feel the importance of them without crossing too deep. I loved the characters. They are both fierce and vulnerable, burdened and free, brave and cautious. I hope this is the start of a series because I’d love to see a couple supporting characters get their own stories. Mine keeps you guessing and the pages flying. Plus it has my favorite, an epilogue! My thanks for the complimentary copy of this book. My opinion is entirely my own.
Mine is an awesome book by Sami Abrams. Jennie Nielson is trying to rebuild her and her daughter's lives after putting her abuser in prison. She just wants them to be safe. Det. David Whitman is doubting himself with people he cares about, after his fiancée is killed by a mugger. After Jennie's daughter sends text to a wrong number, David works to make sure a child predator isn't stalking her. But come to find out it's not her daughter the stalker is obsessed with, it's Jennie! Now David and his fellow officers are working together to protect them and find the stalker. This book was so exciting and I never could figure out who the stalker was. Which was jaw dropping when he was revealed.
This gripping romantic suspense story pulses with emotion and danger. As the fast-paced, action filled plot twisted and turned through a maze of suspense, I was swept up, eagerly turning pages to unravel the mystery of the villain's identity. At the heart of the story are compelling characters with real-life struggles. Jennie's courage as she battles the effects of an abusive past and her fierce devotion to protecting her daughter and David's relentless drive to atone for past failures make them characters who are easy to connect with and root for. I could feel the attraction they shared and the anguish of the emotional barriers that held them back from fully opening their hearts to each other. I was moved by how the story explored the themes of forgiveness, healing, and second chances. I totally enjoyed this short, satisfying story and highly recommend it. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Mine by Sami A. Abrams Release Date December 9,2025
I am a fan of Sami because of books like this! Jennie Nielson just wants to protect her daughter. Jennie has been getting threatened. They believe the culprit is someone that their daughter accidentally sent a message to. Detected David with him, is trying to get to the bottom of this. This is a fast pace edge of your seat, nailbiter. And my twisted mind highly recommend recommends it 😉
Wow, oh wow! Absolutely amazing work by the author. This book was so captivating that I had a hard time putting it down. I stayed intrigued by the suspense and thought it was really interesting. So many circumstances that should make you run & hide from reality and make you feel like you’re not worthy. The detectives were very good.
I have no fingernails left after reading this book. The deadly cat and mouse games, gaslighting and fear are very real and quite creepy.
Jennie thought she had put her past behind her. She knew she would always have to be careful and keep a lookout over her shoulder, but she never dreamed just how bad things could be. The past has come back to haunt her and torment her.
Detective David Whitman is with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and has been called after Jennie's daughter accidentally sends a picture of herself to a stranger. His job is a noble job, but also a messy one dealing with sick individuals. David's lack of forgiveness of himself from a past loss has caused him to believe he has to pay penance for something that happened to someone he loved. However, it also makes him the best for the job when seeking justice. He feels completely empathy for the victims, even while his own forgiveness is just out of reach.
As David assists Jennie and tries to protect her and her daughter, Zoey, the threats and danger amps up and the mystery deepens. There is nowhere safe.
My heart was in my throat the whole time I was reading this thriller. The author has always written great mysteries, but I saw a different side to her talent for writing a compelling mystery. The content is deep, but unfortunately very realistic.
Jennie has overcome so much pain in her life. I had to applaud her. Even when things looked devastating, her will to survive and keep her daughter safe showed her true strength and tenacity to get through devastating circumstances and come out on top.
This thriller will grip you from the beginning and hold on tight until you read the final page.
Thank you to author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you missed your chance to read this story when it came out this past summer in the anthology called Truth, now is your chance to read it as a stand alone. This is the second time reading this story and it still kept me on the edge of my seat. Jeannie has taken her daughter back to the town where she was raised by her great aunt after almost dying at the hands of a former boyfriend. She has erected a wall around her heart and is very protective of her daughter, Zoey. Detective David has a past that he regrets and he fears that he might let someone else down if he opens his heart up to anyone else. When Zoey accidently sends a couple of pictures to the wrong number, will David be able to track down the individual who got the pictures before they are posted publicly? And when attacks start happening against Jeannie, Zoey and David, will they be able to figure out who is behind it before someone gets hurt? Grab your copy today and find out what happens.
Jennie Neilson and her daughter, Zoey, are trying to build a new life not looking over their shoulder for someone from her past...the man who almost destroyed her. Zoey accidentally sending a text to the wrong person with her picture included leads to this person finding them, tormenting them and then kidnapping Zoey. Detective David Whitman is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force and tries to find who is scaring them while taking down a pedophile ring too. David has seen the worst of humanity and wants to spare Zoey and her classmates from this. Jennie least expects this person from her past and his unusual way of thinking and confront lies of her past. This story covers a hard subject with grace, hope, courage and faith. Highly recommend this book. I was given an advance copy by the publisher, but these are my own words and thoughts.
We all make choices in our lives - some are better than others. For Jennie, making good selections was rather illusive for a period in her life. Zoey, her daughter, was the only good thing that came from her time of not listening to the Lord. After nearly losing her life, Pinewood Shores and Aunt Emily are a safe place to be. Or is it?
David and his partner Brandon work in ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) - a sometimes horrible but also satisfying work. When it appears Zoey is targeted, they set out to find the perpetrator, before someone gets hurt. The action heats up when it appears that Jennie is also in the crosshairs. Who had decided that these two belong to him?
A copy was received through Heart Stopping Fiction and BookFunnel. These impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.

Great job Sami!
What an exciting ride of suspense, and lots of non stop action! Tackling the subject of abuse a mkm and her daughter have to escape a crazed predator to be able to have a normal chance at life and love. Abrams writes with such grace and takes you in from page one until the end! Loved the strong characters and great story!
Reading this story when it was first published as part of the Vol. 4 of the Long Hot Summer anthology collection titled Truth, I enjoyed experiencing the growing trust and affection between the leads, the adorable friendship between the hero and female lead's daughter, and the comeradery between the hero, his partner, and the rest of his team.
I never miss a story by Sami, and this one was very entertaining. The mystery was really good, and Jennie's daughter Zoey completely stole the story. The ending was satisfying and I am hoping for additional stories with some of the supporting characters. Great read!
I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
What I loved: Jennie’s love for her daughter and determination to protect her drives her to have courage and bravery. The novel combines modern dangers of the internet with detective work.
My favorite character: Aunt ‘Em. We all need someone who believes in us and is a little mischievous.
