Achieve health the right way from the inside out! Many diet and fitness books claim that losing ten pounds in ten days will bring the health and happiness we are looking for. But the truth is that health and happiness requires more than a few weeks of intense dietary restriction or physical exertion. The journey to health isn't a sprint. It's a marathon. We succeed by combining our faith with our fitness and doing real life with God. Only in Him do we find the strength to make health a lifestyle. Everything else is just a temporary fix with an unending cycle of deprivation, overconsumption, and exhaustion. F.I.T. is different than any other diet or training plan. It calls women who are struggling with their health and fitness to a Faith Inspired Transformation shifting their focus from what the world says to what the Word of God says. With each of the ten steps, renowned fitness expert, model, and writer Kim Dolan Leto provides the inspiration and practical tools necessary to live a healthy life that honors God and brings the lasting results we all crave.
I recently received an email regarding a new book by Kim Dolan Leto, 10 Steps to Your F.I.T.: Faith Inspired Transformation, and I instantly knew I wanted to learn more about this book and more about Kim Dolan Leto herself.
I learned that Kim Dolan Leto was one of the most photographed fitness models in America and that she is now speaking out about the one thing that took her from overweight in her 30's to the cover of the top fitness magazines in her 40's, and the answer may surprise many: it was her faith in God. Kim Dolan Leto, who has graced the covers of magazines like Fitness, Fitness Life and Oxygen, and competed in dozens of fitness competitions, says that it was her belief in Christ that kept her motivated to reach her fitness goals in a balanced and healthy way.
Dolan Leto is now passionate about helping other women experience their own faith-inspired transformations that affect their physical, mental and spiritual wellness. To do so, she wrote the book 10 Steps to your F.I.T: Faith Inspired Transformation guiding women through every aspect of living a whole, healthy life - from diet and exercise to forming healthy thought processes about our bodies and finding our true identity in Christ. Dolan Leto encourages readers to stop focusing on societal pressures to fit a certain standard and begin focusing on understanding what God says about faith, fitness and self worth.
“My faith is such an integral part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” Dolan Leto says. “After years of failed diets and frustration, it felt so freeing to hand over my health to the one I knew could fix me for good. Now that I am on the other side of the dieting and madness, my passion and heart’s desire is to help as many women as possible also achieve confidence in their bodies and comfort in Christ.”
While I only received the book for my review and this post, I did learn that Dolan Leto is releasing the F.I.T. Faith Inspired Transformation workout DVD. The video features three 20-minute circuits that include cardio, core and functional strength training, along with a F.I.T. Push to challenge to maximize calorie levels, a F.I.T. Challenge to propel results further, and a faith-inspired message to provide spiritual strengthening as well.
Kim Dolan Leto is a fitness expert, writer and speaker with a passion for leading women to experience faith-inspired transformations that affect their physical, mental and spiritual wellness. She is the director of family health and wellness for the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), holds a degree in business, is a certified fitness trainer and nutrition specialist, has completed Dale Carnegie’s High-Impact Presentations speaker training course, and has been recognized as one of the most-published fitness professionals. Kim is devoted to Christ and desires to make His name famous in the world of fitness. She resides in Scottsdale, Ariz., with her husband and their beautiful children.
Now, about the book itself:
I'll be very honest - while there's actually nothing new in the book for me as far as combining healthy eating and exercise, but I do love the way it combines fitness with Biblical verses and scripture guiding the reader through the lenses of God and the Bible. I took the book to the beach with me on Easter and as I was reading the book, some parts were so on point with what is going on in my life that I felt like the book was written for me. Other parts of the book were very helpful reminders of both spiritual lessons and fitness lessons.
If you are struggling right now, trying to get on track with your walk with God OR your fitness walk, 10 Steps to Your F.I.T.: Faith Inspired Transformation is the book for you! It's one of those books you can pick up, read a bit, and put back down without being lost the next time you pick it up. I've been carrying it with me since Easter, reading a few pages here and there, and learning and relearning what I need to know to get or stay on track. I loved that not very far into the book, it referenced Jeremiah 29:11, one of my favorite verses: "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (NLT)
This book was great! Kim Dolan Leto does a great job of bringing faith and fitness together and seeing how a lasting healthy lifestyle is rooted in Christ.
"Whether you think you can or you think you can't - you're right. ~ Henry Ford
"You can't turn on the TV or open a magazine without seeing a dieting product. We are so inundated with infomercials and ads, but if these products work, where are the lasting results? If 20 billion dollars are being spent on diet aids, and 108 million of us use them, how is it that nearly 70 percent of adults are overweight or obese? The answer is that we're trained in quick fixes that don't last." (pg 4).
So how can we lose weight? How can we find balance in the food choices we have in front of us? Is there a way to change our focus on not losing weight but instead getting healthy? Kim Dolan Leto, who has graced the covers of magazines like Oxygen, Fitness and Fitness Life believes that it is a belief in Christ that has kept her motivated to reach her fitness goals in a balanced and healthy way. In her book 10 Steps to Your F.I.T: Faith Inspired Transformation, she explains why your typical diets don't last and why as women we have a tendency to give up before we see any real results. She also explains that not all calories are created equal thus the reason why so many people can't lose weight or even those that do, put it all back on again and more within 2 years.
What you won't find her are any quick fixes but a balance approach to seeking God's power instead of our own will power for getting healthy. Weight loss will just be an added benefit to doing just that. She explains how fad diets promise quick results, but they often leave out the education, exercise, and how-to's to maintaining those results once the program is over. What's worse is that they make you rely on their product and believe it or not, any effects aren't long lasting.
She instructs readers on changing their negative thoughts, realizing where our previous efforts have failed us, and incorporates what she calls F.I.T. practices, between spiritual, mental and physical fitness into a "power hour." You won't find a book laced with work out routines, meal plans or recipes but this is an insightful, scripture based book to enable you to begin your journey to a healthy you. I am super excited to give this one a go, since I too, have been a diet junky, looking for a better way to lose weight, keep it off and stay healthy despite all the busy pressures of being a mom and wife.
I received 10 Steps to Your F.I.T: Faith Inspired Transformation by Kim Dolan Leto compliments of Fedd Books and Shelton Interactive for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own unless otherwise notated. There are some great tools to help inspire and keep you on the right path in each section, including Get F.I.T. at the conclusion of each chapter which include reflection questions and strategies that can help you incorporate that aspect into your own getting healthy plan. There are also some great online resources that are available to help you on your journey to health and fitness success that are included in this book. I can't wait to incorporate these tips in my own healthy lifestyle change and feels this one deserves a full 4.5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.
F.I.T. By: Kim Doland Leto Publisher: Fedd Book and Shelton Interactive
You can’t go anywhere, turn on the TV, pick up a magazine or even connect with social media without being bombarded with the latest diet fad, the trend in food or more importantly those sabotaging unhealthy snacks we all love.
In Leto’s book she has listed 10 steps to help eliminate the diet merry-go-round in your life by keeping your life God-centered plus actually planning to be successful. Her ten steps are not quick fixes, she equates them to a marathon rather than a sprint. She stresses “Godfidence” over negative thoughts and doubts which will sabotage your success.
Her book includes daily Power Hour, broken into three twenty three minute segments of spiritual, mental and physical fitness, finding balance and inspirational scripture throughout. There are helpful charts of good vs. bad foods, measurements, meal suggestions and tons of motivational personal experiences.
Although this book is relatively short when compared to other books dealing with weight loss, it is packed with all good things that will point you on the road to success, not only in losing weight, eating right, but also in achieving a God-centered life.
After reading this book I am anxious to start my F.I.T. in hopes of God becoming the center of my life as well as eating healthy and losing weight.

F.I.T DVD (Faith Inspired Transformation) By: Kim Dolan Leto
I have always been skeptical of work-out videos because they never seem to deliver what they are selling. The work-outs are geared to make you fail because they are high-powered and never take into consideration disabilities or even age for that matter. After watching Kim’s work-out video, I have changed my mind. Kim sets up her video to encourage you to NOT fail. She has beginner, intermediate and advanced work-outs. Honestly I am so out of shape, I can’t possibly begin to keep up so I automatically set myself up for defeat…until I watched the beginner video. Kim is amazing..she makes it all about what you can do! In her encouragement she keeps telling you if you can’t do it slow down and modify to what you can do. I still can’t keep up, but each time I exercise I can do a little more than before so I am succeeding. Maybe more importantly for me, I am spending some much needed “me time” doing something good for myself while I clear my mind of the daily stresses and spend time thinking about God and his goodness. Thank you so much for this video and the inspiration on your video for people like me! It is for the mind, body and soul!

There are tons of diet books out there, but this one is different. The author takes a multifaceted approach to fitness and health that includes every aspect of life. To truly lose weight and stay healthy a person needs to make sure they are following a Christ centered lifestyle that will help them not only make the changes necessary, but turn them into healthy habits. Each chapter contains a lot of scripture, encouraging stories and thoughts, and positive bulletin points. The chapters end with a discussion guide of sorts that has reflection questions and strategy tips to incorporate the information learned in the chapter. Bright colors and glossy pages help enhance the visual aspect of the book.
I've read a ton of diet books and reviewed several as well. But this one is by far the best. It's laid out well, inspiring and encouraging, and actually feels like something I want to do. It's not a huge book, but each chapter is in-depth and well thought out. The author clearly knows her information and believes in it enough to share. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to lose weight, create good fitness habits, and become a healthier person.
I received this book free of charge from Shelton Interactive in exchange for my honest review.
Kim Dolan Leto is a fitness expert, speaker, and author who chose to make some changes in life to lose weight and become more healthy. She has an approach that incorporates both healthy food decisions and spending time with God to create a balance that nourishes the body and the spirit. The book is divided into 10 different chapters, each with great ideas and strategies to transform your lifestyle and eating patterns, as well as inspirational Scripture and lessons to be learned and encouraged with as you progress. There were suggestions, especially for an early morning "Power Hour" that really resonated with me. I'm not in the habit yet, but I confess that my days do seem to go much better when I heed these suggestions.
Questions at the end of the chapters help one to put it all into perspective, and made me think that keeping a journal of progress, and even setbacks, would be a great way to see my progress and to pinpoint areas that need a bit more work. Her common sense approach, combined with practical advice and spiritual inclusion truly do make this approach to finding a healthy body, mind, and spirit doable, no matter where your starting point is.
I received this book at no cost to myself from Shelton Interactive in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I've read a lot of diet type books. Many are similar when it comes to what you should eat, how much you should work out, and drink water. This book has all of that but also includes ways to stay connected with God. Faith Inspired Transformation is the goal along with treating your body physically. This book ended up being a lot bigger than I thought and seemed more like a textbook type. There are many verses that Kim relates includes throughout the book. There are also questions that relate to your health and relationship with God at the end of each chapter. My favorite part is after the questions the author gives strategies in which to fulfill a goal-which is so helpful! It's hard to be creative and come up with realistic goals and I found these to be helpful. There are also a DVD series that she does but I didn't do them so I can't say much about them. Find out more at Kim's Website.
If you need a change in your life this is a good book to start with!
"Thanks to the publisher for offering me a free copy in exchange for an honest review."
I've always thought that the job of Christians is to be as fully human as possible. That doesn't merely mean having a clean soul. It means having a clean body. It means taking care of yourself inside and out. But so much of the Christian community only focuses on the abstract and not the physical aspect of being a Christian. Kim Dolan Leto is finally bridging the gap of what it means to have a healthy mind, soul, AND body and focuses on what that happy life looks like. Through her ten steps for getting healthy for good, she gives simple and practical advice and enlightening inspiration of why God calls you to be who you are in Him. She shares her background of being a fitness model and expert and how what finally made her get truly healthy was orienting her life around what truly matters. I really recommend this book for anyone who is feels compelled to take the necessary step of getting healthy and becoming more thoughtful believer.
