Preaching the Revised Common Lectionary: A Guide

Rate this book
Teachers of Preaching are convinced that use of the lectionary for preaching is an important discipline for the life of the church. This book provides a clear theological case for lectionary use (including the history of its use in the church) and a practical guide for using the lectionary to deepen a congregation's experience with the Bible.

An excerpt from the Circuit Rider "For any preacher worn down by current fixations with the charisma of the preacher, banal illustrations, power point oversimplification and so forth, this is a text to read and treasure. It will be a source of renewal and renewed dedication to preaching for those called, ordained, empowered and entrusted to be stewards of the mysteries of God."

This work explores the beginning and development of the lectionary. Most of the book deals with study methods intended to enable a preacher to look at lectionary preaching in blocks for each season.
