A ruthless man on the hunt. A woman with a dark secret. A deadly roulette.
Leon They took my brother. It’s the thought that haunts my every waking moment, driving my thirst for revenge. The only distraction I get is the alluring vixen that shows up in my casino. I can’t seem to get enough of her, but when control slips from my fingers, I find myself gambling with more than I bargained for. Will this captivating woman destroy everything I’ve worked for? Or will she become my salvation?
Alex The casino is my playground, and I know the rules better than anyone. Which is why the last person I expect to meet at the poker table, is a mysterious man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants…including me. The deeper I dig into my cousin’s disappearance, the more I find myself in danger of giving in to him in more ways than one. Will temptation expose the darkness that follows me? Or can I outrun my past long enough to let him protect me?
This bookbwas very slow in the first half. The second half really picked up in the plot and sucks you in. Once the pace picks up you cannot put this book down. The twists in this book are perfectly set to not only make you want more but also in some make you gasp out of surprise. This is a great romance read if you like mafia men. 😘 Alex and Leon are the best mix of two fighting for control over a situation. I adored this book so much.
Nadia surprised me! I did not see the second book going this way. That doesn’t mean to say that I didn’t enjoy it. It’s got great banter, spice, some epic grovelling ( I think that was my favourite part) I also loved that it’s got a fair amount of poker in it. I can’t say more without giving too much away. But just know you should probably read both book 1 & 2. If you like a billionaire mafia romance. This one is 😘
I probably should have re-read book 1 before reading this one, but I managed to remember enough to continue after a few chapters.
Alex comes to the city in order to look for her missing cousin. Leon is still looking for his missing brother. When Alex and Leon meet sparks fly. Who actually has the ace they need to win?
I really enjoyed this 2nd book in this new mafia series by Nadia. It has enough spice, suspense, and mysterious twists to keep you all in on this game. Will Alex and Leon survive the game intact? Will Sophie and Luca return? Who will lose the game?

An Ace in the Game is the 2nd book in the Mafia Games Duology, A Secret Identity Mafia Romance by Nadia Neale.
Ok, I am just going to come out and say it now, Leon is everything I never thought he could be, at first, he came off as this cold and selfish guy, but honestly that’s the last thing he is really. He’s the head of his family, the mafia don, and as such he has all this weight on his shoulders. And Alex, she’s the perfect distraction to help keep Leon’s mind off all his responsibilities and off his brother Luke’s disappearance.
Alex: Is a woman who is full of sass, strength and she’s a brilliant Poker Player who uses Leon’s Casino as her playground.
Alex is desperate and, on a mission, to find her best-friend and cousin who has disappeared, and the deeper Alex digs, the more she realizes she’s digging herself into a dangerous situation.
Alex is also desperate to escape from her own past that keeps haunting her, a past that includes an ex that doesn’t want to let her go.
Leon: First of all, I have to say that I love Leon’s groveling.
Leon is morally grey and despite this, he’s everything that you could ever wish for as the Don of a Mafia family. He starts off as this cold and selfish Don. But we very quickly realize that that’s the last thing he really is, Leon is really this kind, caring, compassionate man who has an incredible amount of weight on his shoulders as the Don of his Mafia family.
We quickly realize that Leon isn’t cold and unforgiving, he loves his family, and he cares about those who are close to him. And we quickly realize he’s worried about his brother whose been kidnapped and it’s the worry for his brother’s safety that drives his thirst for revenge. And it’s through those actions that we realize how protective Leon truly is over the people he loves and how he loves to remain in control at all times.
And as for our lovely Alex, she’s hunting for even the tiniest clue as to what’s happened to her cousin Sophie and where she could have gone off to. The last thing Alex ever expected was to find herself on the run from the ghosts of her past and the oh so very handsome mafia don Leon.
All through this story Nadia packed in heat, spice, angst, and drama. We watch as Leon and Alex, two people who come from two very different worlds and yet, we see how their chemistry is intense and electric, sizzling off the page.
Let me tell you, Nadia knows what she’s doing and she knows how to pull you in and enthrall you right from the very first page and ensure you keep reading till the very end. She puts the spice, the twists, the chaos in all the right places and it’s all so perfectly written. And it’s for this reason that Nadia is one of my go to automatic read authors.
I have to say that if you enjoy a great Mafia read then you really need to jump on The Mafia Games Duet. This is just a great duet and you really do need to read it. And to answer the question that Nadia askes in her Author’s Note at the start of “An Ace in the Game”, YES, I really do think that Ivan and Nina should get their own story in their own book.
“An Ace in the Game” is the second book in “The Mafia Games Duology.” Leon Petrović is now Don of the mafia family with his father recently being murdered. His brother Luka is missing….unsure if he has been kidnapped by the Russian’s or if he has going into hiding with his girlfriend Sophie to protect her. “Three sleepless nights since I found our uncle dead, my brother missing, along with the girl we kidnapped….”
Alexandra Landers, aka, Alex is in Las Vegas trying to find her cousin and best friend Sophie, whom she has not heard from in weeks. This is totally out of character for her. Alex is also in hiding from her ex who is controlling and hit her that badly that she ended up in hospital….she is scared of what he would do to her if he finds her. She also loves to play poker and is very good at it….also leaves no trail financially as her winnings are paid in cash. This particular night, something she normally does not do, she invites a very attractive man to have a drink with her a….”He’s attractive, no doubt. The angles of his face are sharp and masculine, his dark hair a beautiful mess…. A hint of tattoos peeks from the open collar of his shirt, along with a few strands of chest hair.” What drew him to her was the lost and pensive look on his face….one that reminds her of herself.
For once Alex just wants to forget about everything except the man sitting next to her….now she is leaving with him, back to his place. “His lips or his hands that drop to my waist, pulling me flush to him. His body is hard, but his lips are soft as they battle mine. My arms wrap around his neck, holding on for dear life while his mouth devours mine.” The relationship continues, they cannot get enough of each other, both physically and mentally. Until it comes to a head….
The story is full of passion, humor, intrigue, betrayal, vengeance, power, control, twists and turns around every corner - most of all love ♥️ There is never a dull moment - you will be hooked! The book goes from pages that sizzle, to extreme violence, to the most beautiful tender moments! You will fall in love with Leon and Alex hoping that everything with work out for them and if they have a future together.
“Her copper hair falls down her shoulders in loose waves, framing a face that must have been sculpted by gods. Gorgeous blue eyes, soft pouty lips, and the perfect button nose. Her ruby-red dress is low-cut and reveals a delectable inch of her cleavage….”
Leon and Alex’s relationship starts as physical attraction until it develops into more. I love these two characters - things heat up very quickly. There is never a dull moment - you will be hooked! The book goes through moments of the thoughts or possibilities that it could happen to, to extreme violence to the most beautiful tender moments! I’m very happily hooked! I did not want it to end! From page to page, chapter to chapter, I could not put it down - you will metaphorically be on the edge of your chair! Overall, I would highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed 😊
GAAHLLLEEEEE. when i say I LOVED this book i mean that entirely. i got this book as an arc and i have previously received two other books by this author as arcs as well and have loved all 3 of them for different reasonings.
Alex who is the cousin from the FMC of the first book in this series, is a bad ass woman. She is also a DV survivor, and as one myself it felt more personal reading how Alex survived afterwards. running isn’t weak; and i’m glad it wasn’t portrayed that way in this book either. it showed the truths of living with that trauma, the way your brain rewires to help you cope, the fear of them coming back to end you.
Alex survived and she got her revenge on the person who hurt her by the man who helped show her true love. Leon and Alex are my favorite couple by Nadia. the way they gravitate towards one another instantly . love knocked Leon’s entire world upside down and the way Alex made that mafia man GROVEL for forgiveness. let’s not forget; this man got hard at the thought of her spending his money. goooood gosh i NEEEEED that kind of man😅
Their relationship was one of my favorite things to watch unfold. the way Leon fell so hard and was ready to level an entire city for Alex was just swoon worthy. that trope always has me kicking my feet. and the sexy scenes by CHATPER 3!!!!??🤭
epilogue- i LOVED getting Luka & Sophia’s wedding!!🥹
This book is a 5/5 ⭐️ for me.
Tropes- mafia romance secret identity poker playing morally grey & possessive mmc betrayal & groveling

quotes i loved ;
- I’d give her my entire closet if it came to it, which is concerning. Fuck, I’m losing my mind. I need to get my shit together.
-She’s born for the spotlight. Better yet, spotlights were invented with her in mind.
-“Yup. That’s the place. It’s where I stare at the surveillance camera longingly for hours, watching your every move.”
-“You know, this is just the decoration that this office was missing. You. Served up for me.”
-“Make me come then, pretty girl.”
-“You gave me the privilege of seeing this perfect body naked. Not my fault it’s an image I can’t get out of my mind. Not my fault I can’t look at a poker table without getting hard because it reminds me of you.”
-“Besides, do you have any idea how hard it makes me to imagine you spending my money?”
-“I said all of them! Tear the fucking world apart if you need to, just find her.”
-I’m still holding the ginormous butt plug as I watch her retreat to her room.
-“You’re incredible, Alex. I love you so fucking much.” I let out another sob. “I love you too, Leon.”
-…”Well yes, we will get married. But I’m asking you for so much more. I’m asking you to put your heart in my hands for the rest of your life. I’m asking you to take care of mine, which is yours no matter how you answer this question.”

Idk why but I have not really been interested in Mafia romances for quite a while. I applied for this ARC because I like Neale's writing, plus I'd already read the previous book and really like supporting Indie authors. But this book really pulled me out of my funk and made me think that I could be interested in Mafia romances again!
So first, the most important thing to know is that this is not a standalone, its a continuation of the first book, A Pawn in the Game. You will need to read that one first. Part of me wishes that I would have reread that before starting this one because it's been awhile but it didn't really take away from my enjoyment, it just took me a minute to remember some things.
I'm having a hard time writing a cohesive review so we're going to go with bullet points again lol
♠️ The biggest thing I enjoyed was the poker setting/theme of this book, because it's a big part of the story. I mean, I've read several mafia books before that were the MMC owns casinos but never one that was as involved as. ♣️ The Supernatural reference 🤣 ♥️ Leon's relentless search for his brother ♦️Alex's crystals ♠️ His grand gesture 🥹 (not the one with her ex) is probably one of my favorites I've read ever ♣️ It was kinda insta-lusty, but I could feel the chemistry, without it feeling forced ♥️ That it wasn't super over the top- sometimes I feel like Mafia romances just do the absolute most in the story and that wasn't the case here ♦️ Honestly that it wasn't your stereotypical Russian/Italian mafia (they're Croatian)
I can't really comment on the spice because this One house more than I usually prefer in a story so I skimmed through a lot of it, but if high spice is your jam, you're definitely in for a treat.
All in all, this is a solid end to the duology, and I really enjoyed reading both of these books a lot. Honestly, Nadia Neale is a "if she writes it. I'm going to read it" author anyway, so I'm just looking forward to what she does next!
Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that is about to be released on March 21st called, An Ace in the Game. This is about Alex, her cousin is her best friend and she hasn't heard from her in a while so she starts looking for her and the only clue she finds is a note written on a paper from a casino, so that's where she's starts looking. Leon's the head of his mafia family and his brother has gone missing, Leon wants to find his brother and inflict revenge on whoever took him. But he gets distracted by Alex when she starts hanging around his casino, winning so easily and completely captivating him with her not only her beauty but also her brains and quick wit. But as much as Alex enjoys Leon's company, she has to keep her guard up because she has a dark secret she's running from and the more time she spends here looking for her cousin, the more danger she's in. This was book two in this series, and it takes place after the events in book one (A Pawn in the Game) so I definitely recommend reading that book first for most enjoyment! I was soo excited to get Leon's story! Seeing this dangerous, morally grey, mafia man and casino owner open his heart and grow as a character throughout the story was soo good! Alex was the perfect match for him, she was fierce, stubborn, sassy, and strong in all the best ways! She has trauma and a past that she deals with throughout the story, which was really well written. The chemistry between Leon and Alex was absolute fire! The casino, the poker, the mafia, the suspense of finding her cousin and his brother, as well as Alex running from her past... It was all so well done and had me captivated from start to finish! This was the perfect amount of romance, suspense, healing, humor, and spice! If Nadia writes it, I will read it! I've read every one of her books, and I am so eager for whatever she comes up with next! I personally would love to see more in this universe (Ivan and Nina 😉), because I love all these characters so much! I absolutely loved this book! 💜📚
Thank you to the author and her team for this ARC of An Ace in the Game, in exchange for an honest review.
Following the events of A Pawn In The Game, the first book in the duology, Alex is drawn into Leon’s path and once he sets his eyes on her he just can’t stay away.
I loved stepping back into the Mafia Games world, the story picks up in the aftermath of book one with Luka’s brother Leon dealing with the fallout of his actions. He’s everything I love in a mafia man - smart, protective, dangerous, dominant and completely obsessed with his woman. Alex is intelligent, funny and seemingly confident but has a dark and troubled past. What starts as a distraction for both of them ends up being so much more and the way that mafia man can grovel when he messes up is perfection!
This book claimed my complete focus and did not let go, I was fully invested in Alex and Leon’s relationship and all the twists and turns that came with it as well as the drama of running the Petrović mafia family. The spice was hot, the relationship development was well paced, the twists hit perfectly and it all wrapped up in such a satisfying conclusion. This book was all the things I love in a Mafia romance.
“A better person would tell him to let it go, that it’s not his battle to fight. But I am so tired of fighting alone against an invincible opponent. I’ll take all the help I can get.”
Thankyou Nadia Neale for this arc opportunity! P.s. I still cant believe I guessed the title correctly! 🤭
I was so excited to get this one after reading Book 2 and it did not disappoint. It had more drama, shock and it was way hotter! 🥵
The plots twists hit me so hard and I became so overly invested in Alex and Leon's relationship I may of become a borderline creep for the duration of this book. 😅
Alex was an exceptional FMC. She let Leon in without ever losing her footing. No matter what she faced, she stayed true to herself. Which really portrayed a resilient, strong woman, and we love a Queen that can hold her own! 👑
Just like Luka in the first book his brother Leon this time around was equally swoon worthy. He is the exact type of Mafia Boss we love to read about. 😍
Note - You can read both books the duology as a standalone but for overall enjoyment i do recommend reading One before Two to make the experience just all that better. 😏
An Ace in the Game is an engaging and entertaining read that blends strategy, tension, and character-driven moments into a story that keeps you interested.
What stood out most to me was the underlying sense of competition and control woven throughout the plot. There’s a constant push and pull that adds intrigue and keeps you curious about how everything will play out.
The characters bring depth to the story, and their interactions help drive the narrative forward in a way that feels natural and engaging.
For me, this lands at 4 ⭐ because the story was enjoyable and easy to get invested in, though there were a few moments where I would have liked a bit more development.
This is a 4 ⭐ for me because:
• the sense of strategy and tension adds intrigue • the characters help carry the story • the plot keeps you engaged throughout • the pacing makes it an enjoyable read
Intriguing. Engaging. Entertaining.
Read this book if you like:
• character-driven stories • plots with tension and strategy • engaging, easy-to-read narratives • stories with competitive elements.
I was engrossed from the first page, my first read by Nadia but certainly won't be my last! The writing was engaging, packed full of heat, angst and drama. Leon and Alex two people from different worlds but their chemistry was intense, Alex a brilliant Poker Player who makes m engrance in Leon's casino captivates him from the start. He becomes obsessed with her. Alex has her own mission to find her cousin Sophie, the last place Alex has evidence where she was last is the casino. She is also running in fear from her ex. Cross wires, secrets and misimformation causes friction and hurt for Leon and Alex. Lots of intimate moments that are very hot, Alex is full of sass and is a perfect match for Leon. Alex is finally able to live her life her way. I really enjoyed reading this and will be looking up more books by Nadia in the near future! Thanks to Nadia for an ARC, all opinions are my own.

This is the second book within the series. It’s best read after book one. This book took me a while to get into. It was a super slow start. I honestly put it down multiple times and had to force myself to finish it. It wasn’t drawing me in and keeping my attention. This could have honestly been a me issue.
This one definitely came in hot, there’s plenty of spice right from the start, which pulled me in straight away. But what I really appreciated was Alex’s strength. After everything she went through, she didn’t lose herself, and I loved seeing that resilience shine through.
Her dynamic with Leon was a highlight for me. The way she allowed herself to trust him without it diminishing her strength felt really well balanced and genuine.
“Because you’re addicted to the little sounds that he makes when he’s turned on and the praise that he gives you.”
“That’s what angers me the most. I both hate her and can’t stand to hate her.”
“The rules were clear, sweetheart. Lock the door if you don’t want me to enter.”
This is the second book in 'The Mafia Games' duology. This book is a lot less Mafia but whole lot more spicier. But with every book I seem to read, please read your trigger warnings ⚠️ I ate the ever living crapola out of this book, from the banter to the spice, every second chapter the relationship between Leon and Alex heated up just a little more. It was hot 🥵.
Leon *sigh*, I like Leon. Mafia men are these big scary guys that have no heart or a single compassionate bone in there body, but Leon, ooof 😍 he is the boss, but even the boss has a weak spot.
Alex is a woman on a mission to find her bestfriend which is also her cousin but that mission gets slightly of track and it seems to be her biggest gamble yet.
Loved this book! Nadia Neale is a great author, and I really enjoyed her style of writing and enjoyed the storyline. I enjoyed the detail put into Alex and Leon’s relationship, and the showing that sometimes the mistakes made in a relationship are not as accidental as most books make it seem.
My only critique is that I do wish there was a little bit more about the process in finding his brother and showed that storyline just a bit more, and that I personally wouldn’t consider this book to have BDSM elements, aside from the mention of a sex club. The spicy scenes to me were pretty normal spicy scenes (but still HOT 🔥🔥🔥)!
Overall, I really enjoyed the book and will definitely read more from Nadia Neale!

I enjoyed book 1 of this series, but this takes it to a whole new level. Leon & Alex are a brilliant coupling, & what starts off as a bit of fun in Leon’s casino soon escalates into more than either of them expected. Leon is unable to focus on anything other than Alex, but her secrets may just be enough to tear them apart. The spice starts early in this book & continues all the way to the bonus epilogue - & Nadia knows how to keep you as a reader engrossed. I stayed up far too late last night as I just couldn’t put it down. We get mafia, we get spice, we get a MMC who will do anything to protect what’s his, & a FMC who’s vulnerable but sassy & a bit bratty! Loved it.
I love a strong rich mafia man who wants nothing more than to take care of the woman he’s falling in love with. I was excited to get Leon’s story. He seemed cold and unforgiving in the first book, but it turns out he just loves his family. His worry over his brother’s safety just added another reason to love him. As with any Nadia Neale book, the spice was amazing and started in chapter 3! The story kept me reading and I loved Leon’s groveling. The ending was perfect. As someone who plays poker with her husband frequently, I was really drawn in by this story. I was also excited not to need the glossary at the beginning!
An Ace in the Game is a gripping, high-stakes romance where danger and desire collide. Alex is desperate to find her missing cousin, following a single clue that leads her straight into a casino and into Leon, a ruthless mafia boss searching for his own missing brother. Drawn together by sharp wit and undeniable chemistry, their connection burns fast and fierce, but secrets lurk beneath the surface. As Alex digs deeper, her past threatens to catch up, and every step closer to the truth pulls them both into greater danger. Packed with tension, heat, and emotional depth, this story delivers the perfect mix of suspense, passion, and unforgettable characters.
I enjoyed the first book, but omg this ine was SO much better!!! Amazing in fact!!! I live Alex's strength and take no crap, het resourcefulness and charming wit. Thank you to the author for bringing to light dv and all that it entails in a very real and honest way. The justice he gave her, the way he empowered and rejoiced in her and saw her, and the actual apology couldn't have been better! The smut was absolutely hot, and plenty of it. The connection they had was magical - and speaking of which, the crystals were a beautiful touch. Not to mention Persephone... IYKYK!!!
Alex is a brilliant poker player, and Leon is a casino owner on paper but also he’s the head of the mafia. Leon finds himself unable to focus on his business because he is too busy thinking on Alex, but Ales has her own secrets that may tear them apart. This was a great book, I enjoy reading Nadia Neale’s book. This was a great story that was very well written.
Thank you Nadia for the opportunity of this ARC. These are my honest thoughts.
*ARC reader* Nadia knows how to write a damn good book! I absolutely loved everything about it. Mafia romance and secret identity? The best. I loved the poker setting/theme of the book (a little different to some other mafia romances), the Supernatural references (which I’m a massive fan of) and just their whole relationship, it had me hooked from the start. You won’t be disappointed if you read this. I love Nadia’s writing and her books are honestly some of my favourites. Very keen to see what she does next!
These two have a lot of trust issues to resolve... but why do that when you can just get naked. I know people don't like miscommunication trope, but as a therapist, it is so real. These two let hormones and tr@um@ guide them, and we get a backseat to the journey. And ohh does that journey include some sarcasm and first class grovel when necessary. Plus the dates this man plans.... dang, sign me up. I mean, sure, there is the element of danger and drama and risk and "what if he never comes home" but I feel like it is worth it.
4.5/5 I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book. I wasn’t ready for it to be over. I have been so excited for this book since I read book 1 in the duology. I absolutely love Alex and Leon together. I love how protective Leon is with people we loves. I could not put this down. I read this in one sitting and I did not want it to ever end. I can’t wait until I read more by Nadia Neale
The FMC was a great representation of a strong woman trying to overcome her fears and move on from her past. Her story is inspiring and I loved her chemistry with the MMC. Their banter was fun to read and I'm so glad they both finally got the happy ending they deserved. Their story does start off a bit insta-lust, but over time you learn more and more about the characters, which is what kept my attention.

This book picks up where book one left off, with Luka and Sophie gone leaving Leon looking for them and hoping they're still alive. Alex, Sophie's cousin is looking for her and goes to the casino to see if she can find anything. She gets Leon's attention when she starts winning at the poker tables. Their chemistry is magnetic and soon they start a physical relationship. Neither of them knows who the other is. Many twists and turns along with secrets are exposed.
An Ace in the Game was such a fun read! It had the perfect mix of spice, witty banter, and satisfying groveling.
The chemistry between the characters kept me hooked, and their back-and-forth made the story really entertaining.
I actually enjoyed this one even more than the first book in the duology—great character development and a really satisfying romance. Definitely recommend if you love tension, banter, and a good redemption moment.
All Bets are on - except when love comes into play?
Great dual pov story of Alex and Leon - Book 2 of Mafia Games series. Alex is looking for her cousin Sophie and by chance meets Leon who might know more than he is letting on. Captivated by her beauty and of course poker skills it is not long till she has got more than his attention. Fantastic story filled with games and all bets are off when it comes to love - aren't they?
I was given this arc by the author. I enjoyed this book much more than the first one of the series. I feel that the relationship was more plausible, and the plot was a little tighter. The spice was well written, if a little more than the plot legitimately required. Overall though - a fun romp in the mafia romance world.
Absolutely loved this book! It was steamy from the beginning. It is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone. Reading the first will give you insight to some of the back story but it all comes out by the end either way. There is groveling from the MMC when he realizes he was wrong about the FMC.
