Bells Begin to Ring

Rate this book
Everywhere, mages dance on the bitter scapegoat's strings.

The civil war so long expected in Feinzad is here, but the insurgents aren't dying for their own cause anymore. Horus fights to save his cause, as well as his king and the mentor he loves, but it would be so much less stressful if they weren't in ddanger alongside him.

While Dyafer sits idle in the city she hasn't realized that she conquered, Mairid spins his webs. He isn't aware he was long since trapped in the web of a person he doesn't know; neither of them are yet the people they need to be and can't become until they meet. Alia steps outside of space and reason to receive a hint something hinky is going on behind the scenes, but no one has time to worry about distant existential threats. Not with the Kwentaro waging war on all of them.

Only Ramsu might hope to save the day before the world's mages destroy one another to the last individual. He needs to figure out how to be a hero, though, before his Haimar becomes a villain, and the man already has a march on him.

At this stage, the water's on its way. There's nothing to do but run for the heights and pray.
