Surry O’Brien swore she’d never fall in love again. Not after Gavin. Not after the scars—both the ones inked into her skin and the one carved into her face. But freedom doesn’t come without ghosts, and when those ghosts start sending threats painted in blood and ruin, her carefully rebuilt world begins to fracture.

Brenden Slater built his empire with his brothers—construction by day, justice by night. The Slaters fix what’s broken, even when what’s broken fights back. But the last thing he expects is her—a woman who smells like rain and danger, who stirs something protective, primal, and absolutely forbidden inside him.

When Surry’s past resurfaces, dragging the Irish and Russian mafias into a storm of vengeance, Brenden becomes the one man standing between her and the monster who refuses to let her go. She’s fire and fight and everything he didn’t know he wanted. But loving her might cost him everything—including his soul.

Dark romance meets found family in If You Go, a story of trauma, healing, and the kind of love that burns hot enough to brand.

If You Go is intense, raw, holds no punches, with a truly resilient FMC.

This is a book you need to read the triggers, because there is no closed door allusion to incidents that occur, they are explicitly written out on the pages. Surry O'Brien has quite literally lived through and escaped hell, and it has taken years for her to get through the trauma and scars that she was left with, to her current day self, where she is happy and surrounded by friends that are family. Brenden Slater, having witnessed a horror at a young age, makes it his life's mission (along with his brothers), to make sure those that hurt others cease to exist. When Surry's past rears its ugly head, it hits close to home, taking out a friends business. When Surry goes over to the Slater's house with all her friends for a night to try and forget the evil of the day, she runs into Brenden, and the desire between them is immediate. From that moment on, Brenden and Surry work together to finally take down the past that permanently scarred her future.

Ah, this book is so good! I love the fact that we have a rival mafia war, granted it does not occur in the way you might think. I loved how explicit this book is, you get to experience every painful detail alongside the characters. The hatred that you feel towards Gavin only increases the more you read about his character. Surry's family is true old world Irish mafia, and that of course always can have its own consequences. Surry is such a strong character, to have lived through what Gavin did to her, and come out on the other side stronger than ever, is just amazing. I love Brenden and the other Slater brothers, especially their line of business.

This story is full of spice, angst, and wanting to know what comes next. Set some time aside when you start reading, because you won't be able to put this down!

Some Fav Quotes:
"Four bedrooms. Four best friends. Four broken souls stitched into something whole."

"Every piece chose carefully, deliberately, until the story of my survival became something beautiful, something no one could take from me."

"We made this space holy. A sanctuary in a world that doesn't give women, queer kids, or survivors safe places. This is ours."

""Enjoying the show, darling?" His voice is low, gravelly. Dangerous. Oh, F***. This man. This beast. This GOD. He growled. He called me DARLING. I don't know what to do with myself. All I can do is stare at him."

"And I know it, certain as blood: I will never let anyone touch that girl again. She is mine."

"...that man's body will haunt my dreams tonight, probably every night for forever. When he was made, angels cried, and passed out, or something. Because there ain't no way it was an accident."

""Good morning, Siren," he rumbles. It's unfair that a voice alone can stroke my entire nervous system with one simple sentence."

""You're mine, Siren," he says, low and certain. "You'll see. Hades himself couldn't keep me from you.""

"Tears sting before I can stop them. This man, who could break mountains with his hands, is giving me his heart like it's the easiest thing in the world."

"Two men. One who broke me. One who pieced me back together. And tonight-only one of them walks away."

Thank you so much to the author for a copy of this book!

Book 1 in the Tattoos On The Bay series: Brenden and Surry. This is a forced proximity, MCs in their 30s, found family, HEA, DV and SA survivor, emotional and healing journey, mafia princess, morally grey hero MMC, ADHD rep, size difference, 6’6” MMC, he falls first and hard, mafia romance.
Surry. Oh man, how I loved Surry. He story was so full of heartache and broken dreams and loss but she is such an amazingly strong FMC. I fell in love with her character and watching her growth and healing journey was so beautiful. And not just falling in love with her, but all the side characters too. The found family the MCs gathered for themselves and then melded together were perfect. If “found family” is a trope favorite than this book is perfect, by far my favorite representation of the trope I’ve ever read so far.
Brenden. He. Is. Perfect. The perfect mix of strong and sensitive, caring and protective but not overbearing.
I will say though. Trigger warnings should most definitely be read. There are a few points in the books that I could very much see being VERY difficult to read.
Everything being said. Would I recommend this book? 1000% yes, I cannot wait to continue the series and keep my eye out for future books by this author. This is her debut novel and her writing is beautiful.

ARC REVIEW
For this authors first ever published book she did an incredible job at introducing and taking us readers on ride through the lives of Surry and Brenden! It got dark and it got DARK. Please read the triggers before starting your own journey through the series but for those like myself who are mentally deranged and have a hard time reading without them this book is for you! I found myself captivated throughout the whole story which also had a nice pace to it. A job well done! I eagerly await to see what else this author will come up with for more!

ARC Review

I feel like you can never go wrong with a mafia romance. However, that being said, it's always risky to have a story sound the same as others, and I am so glad to report that this was not the case! I absolutely was hooked into this from the get go. Of course, check your trigger warnings because things were already dark from the get go. However, it was needed to show what Surry goes through and how strong she becomes to overcome it. I adore Brenden! What a smitten man and still knows how to treat his woman!! I love their dynamic and the way he respects her😍

The plot is definitely dark when it first starts out and although I have no triggers, I can definitely see it being triggering to others so please check your trigger warnings and take care of your mental health! After finding out Surry's background, we have the plot of her having to avoid falling back into hands of the man who hurt her. I actually am a sucker for bodyguard tropes and the MMC protecting their FMC so I ate this up!! I love how their initial connection although was pure attraction and just, for the MMC, he was obsessed with her.

I really like the found family in this as well. I think it definitely took me a bit of time to remember which members of the group actually liked Who (but that honestly could just be me hahah). I appreciate that the characters have their own strengths and contributions to the group because there was a nice balance of humor and seriousness to all of them.

Thank you to the author and Crowns & Chaos PR for the opportunity to read this as an ARC and all my opinions and thoughts are my own and left voluntarily.

If You Go by M.M. Tish absolutely wrecked me in the best way. It’s dark, emotionally heavy, and full of every trigger warning imaginable but the way Tish writes pain, desire, vengeance, and healing is addictive. Once I started, I genuinely couldn’t stop.

Surry is one of those FMCs who stays with you. She’s survived hell, rebuilt herself from the ashes, and still carries the scars of what was taken from her. Her trauma isn’t glossed over or hinted at you live it with her. And Brenden? Ferality wrapped in loyalty. He falls first, falls hard, and doesn’t apologize for it. The Slater brothers as a whole? I need more. Immediately.

When Surry’s past claws back to the surface brutally, it puts her straight into the orbit of the Slaters again. The chemistry between her and Brenden is instant, magnetic, and laced with a kind of hunger that only two people shaped by violence can understand. Together, they decide that the only way out is through and that means burning her past to the ground.

This book is raw, explicit, and unflinchingly honest about the horrors she endured, the revenge he’s trained his whole life to deliver, and the found family that refuses to let her face any of it alone. The Irish mafia elements feel gritty and authentic, the rival war kept me hooked, and the villain? I have never hated a man so fast in my life.

Dark, dangerous, and beautifully written this story drags you through every emotion, every scar, every touch, every hit. M.M. Tish created a world I want more of, and I can’t wait to see where she takes the Slater brothers next.

𝘐𝘧 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘎𝘰 launches the Tattoos on the Bay series with a dark, gripping, and deeply emotional punch. From page one, M.M. Tish pulls you into a world drenched in ink, pain, Irish-mafia shadows, and the kind of messy humanity that makes dark romance feel so addictive. This book doesn’t tiptoe around heartbreak — it dives straight into the wounds and lets you watch the characters bleed, rage, love, and slowly stitch themselves back together.

At the center is 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙊'𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣, a character who feels equal parts strong and shattered. Her journey is raw and jagged, but it’s also threaded with moments of unexpected softness, fierce loyalty, and the hope of something better. The dynamic between her and the people who orbit her life — especially the complicated, magnetic 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧's presence — creates the perfect storm of longing, tension, and slow-burn healing.

What makes this book stand out is how real it feels. The trauma isn’t romanticized, the darkness isn’t aesthetic—it’s lived-in and brutal. But the author balances it with found family, flashes of redemption, and a love story that feels like a spark in a cold room. It’s painful, it’s beautiful, and it lingers.

The writing is atmospheric, emotional, and addictive. The pacing keeps you completely inside Surry’s world—where every choice comes with consequences, every connection is fragile, and every moment of tenderness feels earned. This is the kind of book you read with your heart in your throat.

Irish Mafia princess meets tall, dark and dangerous contractor/hitman in this dark romance by M. M. Tish and I was here for all the vibes in this story. While I’m not usually a fan of “insta love” outside of fantasy, as a general rule, it somehow worked really well with these characters. Surry and Brendan’s chemistry was fantastic and didn’t feel forced at all. The plot was perfectly twisty and the spice was on point. There were a couple of times when I found myself thinking, “ok, this is a little far fetched,” but it fiction and that’s to be expected from time to time. I’d say overall it was an enjoyable reading experience. I read the entire book in about six hours and was fully invested in the outcome of these characters and their situation. The brand of justice they served to the true villain of the story was poetic. I really enjoyed how it all played out. I look forward to more books in the series.

I will warn you to read the trigger warnings prior to reading the book. There are multiple subjects and situations that could be distressing for some readers.

Thank you to Crowns & Chaos PR and M. M. Tish for the opportunity to read this book in its arc form.

The Slater family dynamic was another highlight. Found family tropes are everywhere these days, but this one felt genuine loyalty built not on perfection, but on shared struggle and the willingness to do the dirty, dangerous work for the people they love.

Irish and Russian mafias, trauma resurfacing, violent threats, and moments that made my heart race in the best, and worst ways. There were scenes that had me on edge and others that almost broke me. But through all the chaos, the love story never gets lost. Instead, it anchors the darkness, showing how healing sometimes comes from the most unexpected places.

My only frustration? I wasn’t ready for it to end. The world, the characters, the emotional weight all of it will stay with me long after.

If you love dark romance with real stakes, deep trauma, found family, and a love story that burns slow but hits hard, If You Go is the kind of book that doesn’t just entertain it consumes you.

This story starts with Surry, an Irish Mafia heiress, on the brink of a wedding that should be a fairy tale but quickly turns into a nightmare. Her eventual escape sets the tone for a story that's about survival and identity and not just romance.

Nine years later, her past catches up with her in the form of Brenden-a billionaire vigilante who complicates everything. Their chemistry is intense, but what really pulled me in was the emotional weight behind their choices. It's an open-door romance and is very dark, but for me, it really made the story.

The plot is fast-moving but does not sacrifice depth in its velocity. The mafia backdrop adds tension without drawing attention away from the characters. If you like your romance dark, with secrets, and a heroine who refuses to stay broken, this one's worth picking up. Just be ready for some emotional bruises along the way, and check the trigger warnings.

Huge thanks to Crowns and Chaos and MM Tish for the ARC copy!

Surry was trapped in a cruel marriage to a man who only wanted her for her ties in the Irish mafia, enduring years of manipulation and violence. After finally breaking free, she creates a new life surrounded by loyal friends and peace. But when an unexpected message appears from her past, it forces her to confront the truth she thought she’d left behind—and could change her future forever.

This book comes with some heavy trigger warnings, and I’d strongly recommend reading them carefully before diving in. That said, the story was brilliant. It shocked me to my core at times, but I’ve never read a more gripping or satisfying tale of revenge.

I just love when debut authors “WOW” me. I don’t think that I expected this book to be such an emotional punch to the gut but I am HERE FOR IT!! Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. This book is dark, gritty, and full of emotional depth and allllllll the trigger warnings. The FMC Surry has experienced so much trauma. Her character is layered and authentic, and you can’t help but to root for her. Brenden was the best kind of feral. And the rest of the Slater brothers….. YESSS! This is absolutely worth the read and I can’t wait to read more from MM Tish!!!

This mafia romance makes you feel all of the feelings. There were moments where I was absolutely furious on the behalf of the main character and on the other I was melting in the romance between Surry and Brenden.

If you love to see the mafia society and fight for power this book gives you all of that. Surry must find a way to protect her friends and family with the help of some new ones, to prevent her past from taking what is most important to her away.

If you are a lover of dark romance this is probably one of the best I've seen where you see the character heal. Most characters in dark romance face their trauma with blunt force. This book you get to see a beautiful healing by the main character.

If You Go by M.M. Tish
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
📚 My Thoughts:
This is the first book in the Tattoos on The Bay series. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. This is a dark mafia romance I recommend reading the Trigger Warnings because it does talk about some dark topics. While reading this book I felt so bad for the FMC and the things she went through but I loved how Brenden was there to help her get her revenge. I was happy to see Surry and Brenden get their happy ending🫶🏽. I loved the found family trope in the book. The way everyone was protective of Surry. I can’t wait for the other books in the series.

If you go

If You Go by M.M. Tish
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The first installment of the Tattoos on The Bay series, If You Go is the beginning of an interconnected standalone dark mafia series! I binged this book in hours- and my only regret is that I wasn’t listening to the playlist while reading! This is everything a dark mafia romance should have, and I can’t wait for the next book! I absolutely loved all the side characters and the storylines being set up! If you enjoy vengeance and hot MMC this is a must read!

This is definitely a book where you should check your triggers. It gets heavy and graphic right out of the gate. That said, it is a good story! I do love the burly, protective, fights-by-your-side MMC. Some would call it "insta-love", I call it "love at first sight" and I'm not mad at it. There are some inconsistencies here and there, but nothing that really takes away from the story. The ending was satisfying, as well, while still leaving openings for sequels. Also, I love that the O'Briens are so close and clearly love each other. That is not usually a common thing in Mafia romances, especially with the head of the mafia.

This dark romance was more than I expected going in. A woman next in line for the Irish Mafia meets a 6'6 hitman after her crazy ex comes a blowing ish up. Said ex brutalized her years ago (check those triggers!) and thinks he has the right to her after so much time has passed (like he ever had the right?). This tall, dark semi stranger helps her heal in so many ways and face down her ex. Some very cathartic things happen 😆. The story pacing moved a little quick for me at times, with the instant love of it all, but I quite enjoyed this debut novel! I loved how Brenden handled and treated Surry soooooooo much! Thank you to MM Tish for the opportunity to read and review her work! 💙

While I love every single book I review on this page (Trust me, it's a thing) I haven't been this excited about a book in a LONG time.
MM Tish sucked me in from the very beginning and created characters that I not only love but see myself in.
Tish gives life to the act of an abused woman taking back her power, owning what she went through, and becoming stronger because of it.
There is a profound sense of found family weaved into a family torn apart by greed and secrecy.
And while the MMC is absolute perfection and the spice is absolute
I'm so proud of and
excited for the feminine

Dark, dangerous, and beautifully written. This Irish mafia romance took me straight into the shadows of Seattle/Oregon, and I couldn’t put it down. The story was brutal at times — definitely not for the faint of heart — but every moment was crafted so vividly that I felt every hit, kiss, and heartbreak. Each spicy scene was so detailed and descriptive, that I could almost feel it all myself. M.M. Tish has opened a new world within our own and I’m so excited to see where she takes it!

I don't know where to begin Surry's scars both seen and unseen really shaped her resilience and made it feel so real.
Brendan added the right blend of protective strength to Surry and balanced it out.
The danger, romance and family loyalty is what keeps you hooked on this story.

It was such a great read.

If you go is the author’s debut novel and it’s quite a crazy ride! If you love dark mafia romance and aren’t afraid of trigger warnings, this one is for you. Surry goes through so much in this book and you really feel for her throughout because of everything she’s dealt with. Brenden is the man she needed after everything! But remember this is a dark, dark story so make sure you check the trigger warnings and keep those in mind.
