My Hero - A Dark Stalker Romance

Rate this book
Hush, little birdie, just be mine,
Wearing those pearls, you look divine.
If you should tremble, I’ll hold you near,
Breathe in my voice, so deep in your ear.
If you should fly, I’ll break your wings,
And teach you how my little birdie sings.

Lust built the cage. Love locked the door. Obsession swallowed the key.

My name is Nia Rai—the sole daughter and constant disappointment of a powerful family.
The one they forgot to love but remembered to control.

They say broken girls break things.
I just never expected one of those things to be myself.

He watches me.
Not the way others do—with pity or expectation.
No, my masked stalker sees me. He sees every crack, every pulse, every unspoken ache buried beneath my skin. His messages are dark lullabies, his obsession a slow, suffocating seduction.

Then there’s Hero Carter. My husband. My captor. My addiction.
He’s a billionaire wrapped in power and sin, a man who always gets what he wants—and what he wants is me. He owns my body with a signature on a contract and claims my heart with the cruelty of a kiss that burns too long.

But love isn’t what binds us. Obsession is.
Control and Madness.
A twisted kind of devotion that feels like worship and punishment in the same breath.

Between a stalker who would kill for me and a husband who would kill without me, I’m unraveling. Slowly. Beautifully. Terribly.

And the worst part?
I think I want to fall.

After all—no one ever warned these men what happens when you feed a woman who craves attention.

Tropes you’ll find inside:
• Stalker Romance (we know who he is; she doesn’t)
• Billionaire / Heiress dynamic
• BDSM & Power Play
• He Falls First
• Arranged Marriage
• Touch Her & X vs Touch Him & Die
• Interracial Couple (Indian/White)

Yajna Ramnath

Yajna Ramnath writes like she’s crafting spells—equal parts beauty, danger, and a little chaos.

An author of fantasy, romance, and deliciously dark romance, Yajna builds worlds where love burns, bleeds, and sometimes bites. Her stories are filled with powerful heroines who don’t wait to be saved, dangerously charming love interests who toe the line between savior and sinner, and plot twists sharper than a dagger in the dark.

When she isn’t tormenting her characters (and her readers) with emotional rollercoasters and morally grey dilemmas, she’s doing something equally intense—headshotting opponents in Call of Duty Mobile like the badass she is. Let’s just say her trigger finger is as fast as her plot twists.

Based in a world of words, Wi-Fi, and caffeine-fueled nights, Yajna writes not just to tell stories—but to create entire emotional black holes you’ll gladly get sucked into.

Dark romance with heart. Fantasy with fire. Love that lingers like a ghost.

Welcome to her world. Don’t forget to bring snacks—and maybe a sword.

Once again Yajna delivered another masterpiece of a book. I read this in one day because I couldn't put it down! I loved Nia and Hero's relationship. Also can we talk about how hot Hero is? 🥵

I also loved the friendship between Nia, Ashley, and Kelsey.

10/10 I definitely recommend reading it! (Just an FYI I will recommend anything Yajna writes)

Yajna has delivered once again with this tantalizing dark romance that scratches that proverbial itch in the best possible way and I'm grateful I was able to arc read My Hero. The MMC is a walking red flag, just as he should be and our FMC blossoms beautifully throughout this story, making this one of my favourite reads of the year. I ate this book up in a singular day, a testament to just how perfectly crafted the story and characters are.

I don’t even know how to put into words what Yajna Ramnath does to me with her writing. Every time I pick up one of her books, I think I’m prepared, and every time, she proves me wrong. My Hero isn't just a story I read; it’s one I felt in my chest. As part of the street team, I’ve been sitting on these feelings, and now that it’s finally out, I just want to scream from the rooftops: Yajna creates icons.

There is something so haunting about the way she handles a Dark Stalker romance. It’s that skin-crawling, heart-racing tension where you know he’s there in the shadows, watching, waiting, and yet... you want him to be. The way he is obsessed with her—truly, deeply, darkly obsessed—is what "He Falls First" dreams are made of. He didn’t just fall; he surrendered his entire existence to her before she even knew his name.

Then you layer in the Arranged Marriage and the Interracial Romance between the Indian FMC and the white MMC, and the stakes just feel massive. It’s not just a contract; it’s a collision of worlds and expectations. But what truly broke me—and then healed me—was the Mental Health representation. It was so raw and so real. It gave these characters a pulse. It made the Morally Grey Hero feel less like a trope and more like a complicated, hurting man who would burn the entire world down just to make sure she’s safe.

The Dual POV is a total emotional rollercoaster. Seeing her navigate her world while he’s orchestrating everything from the darkness... it’s beautiful and terrifying all at once. I devoured this book because Yajna has this way of making the darkness feel like home. She writes these epic, sweeping connections that make you realize that sometimes, the "hero" isn't the guy who saves you—it's the one who sees your darkest parts and decides they’re the best thing about you.

If you want a book that will make you cry, gasp, and lose sleep, this is it. Yajna Ramnath doesn't just write books; she writes obsessions.

This is hands down one of my favorites. This is a binge worthy, fully immersed devour session. I stayed up late trying to finish and was falling asleep. I woke up and immediately started reading. Where do I even start? Nia is one of my favorite FMCs I've ever read. I saw so much of myself in her. Throughout the story we see her growth and the change as she learns to navigate what life has thrown at her. Now for Hero. Yajna outdid herself with this man. He is the epitome of morally grey. But that man is EVERYTHING. He infuriated me at times and other times I was having to pick my jaw up off the floor. He was the perfect complex character with the highs and lows. He is delicious in every way. I had the absolute pleasure of beta reading and it will be a story that I read over and over. I cannot fully describe how special this book is to me. Not because of the amazing side characters IYKYK, but because of the depth of emotion that Yajna hits you with every single time. Its one of my favorite things about her writing. The lines that make you think, make you swoon, make you audibly gasp or snort and laugh. This is a must read if you love dark stalker romance.

My Hero By Yajna Ramnath

Well. What can I say?
Should be 4.5 but this won't let me!
Sometimes it's fun to explore the darkness when we feel life slightly unraveling!

Nia was the middle child from a well-to-do family who always felt like she didn't quite fit in. She wasn't a high achieving academic but she lived for art, beauty and comfort.
When her relationship breaks down she's left feeling broken, disregarded and numb. So she chose a path that would leave her feeling ... Vulnerable.

Hero, a high achieving, strategic genius who holds a high place in society holds Nia in his sights. He tries to show her his interest in many ways until she finally relents.

But will Nia be able to choose if she wants security or lust? Will her choice back when she was broken, break her in different ways? Will she seek darkness even in the light?

Join the chaos and drama. Where family breaks and hope is held afar.

If you like dark romance and obsession, this is definitely for you!

6 star read.

My Hero sucked me in from the first page, and even as it's been several hours since I've finished this book, it's still holding on to me. This is the kind of book that causes book hangovers.

There is so much to unpack here and I'm not sure I can fully articulate how much I loved My Hero. So bullet points it is!

• Hero Carter
• The chemistry between Nia and Hero (holy smokes, I needed a fan to cool me down anytime they were in the same room as each other)
• The depth of our characters
• Hero Carter
• the gorgeous imagery and culture representation
• Hero Carter

Yajna Ramnath thrives while writing this dark romance standalone. You can feel her passion for the characters, her comfort in her craft, and her desire to give her readers an amazing story.

I cannot say enough good things. Read this book.

Overall: highly recommend

No plot. Ridiculous ending. MMC was fantastic

This book was not good. There was no plot. None whatsoever. The first 25% dragged on and I skimmed parts of it, because it was just so incredibly boring, then finally it got interesting due to the MMC. He was the best thing about this book, and he honestly carried the whole thing. Just when I thought he was enough to at least award this book 4 stars, the car accident ordeal happened. I can suspend my belief for a book, but the sheer absurdity of that "plot line" punched me right into reality. It was so absolutely ridiculous and tone deaf. It was the complete opposite of "show, don't tell." It was so bad I skimmed the last 10% of the book. A real shame, the MMC is among my favorites, but that story just wasn't it.

Dark. Beautiful. Hot. Sexy. All words I’d use to describe this book.

This book is all about acceptance wrapped in a pretty dark bow.

Nia & Hero, yet different both needed someone to love and accept them, including all the broken, and unsavory parts.

The character growth of not just the main
characters but the side ones also was heart
warming, as I tend to never see growth in them.

Learning about a culture different from mine will
always fascinate me. Thank you Yajna. 🖤

Okay!...Short n sweet n dangerous.

It was a yes! For me!!!

I loved it.
For me it was short but worth it.

I swear the way yajna writes everything...
Whatever genre....she pulls you in never let go. I loved the Indian rep she provides for in every book of her.
The way she wrote emotion both from Hero and Nia's pov was awesome...

I adored the friendships, the in laws.
The stalker made me giddy, The Hero made me crave.

Over and all...it was good!!

Yajna has done it again with her writing!! Hero Carter is my new book boyfriend obsession and I couldn’t be happier. The depiction of different ways to love and to feel love is beautifully written. Hero’s brain is different than normal people but that doesn’t change how he protects what is his. Prepare yourself for your new favorite dark romance after reading this book!!

First off I love Hero so much. I do wish there was a little bit more violence when it came to Nia’s family but 🤷🏻‍♀️. This book was absolutely amazing and ripped my heart out of my chest. I felt all of the emotions and then some and loved every second of it. Definitely a book that makes it hard to do other things like being an adult. Thank you Yajna for writing suck an amazing book.

Yajna delivered yet again. My Hero is a quick read that is full of secrets, stalking, and spice. But more than that it touches on messed up family dynamics, obsession, and learning to love all the parts of someone, even when it scares you a little.
