Life lesson number one: Never anger a powerful witch.
Too bad Dimitri Sullivan didn’t know the beautiful redhead he met at a bar, bedded, and skipped out on was a witch—let alone a psychotic one who turns him into a diseased-ridden, flea-bitten, house cat; the complete antecedent to his predominate wolf form.
Abby, like most humans, knows nothing about the supernatural world. She does know that her new cat is different. She knows that the new, gorgeous man in her life is up to something. And she knows that something isn’t right about the beautiful yet crazy woman stalking her.
When Mave, the witch who cursed Dimitri, discovers that the curse she placed on him is breaking, she goes to great lengths to stop him from becoming human once again.

Ah, the evils of alcohol in excess, and the wrath of a jilted witch, for Dimitri, what could have been the purrrfect one night stand has become a curse that just keeps on giving, day after day. Talk about a humbling experience! A wolf shifter, hot guy, shallow ladies’ man and all around cad, Dimitri has been cursed to be, off all things, a cat and new resident at the local animal shelter.
Abby has had her heart stomped on for the last time and is swearing off men. Why not get another cat as a companion? Off to the shelter she goes and then their eyes meet, there is something different about this cat and it wasn’t his warm and friendly demeanor.
Together with Sebastian, these two cats and this one insecure woman become a family of sorts, with Dimitri finding that there is something special about Abby, as he begins to play voyeur as she goes through her daily rituals. Has Abby’s sweet nature begun to pull on Dimitri’s heart? Has he found his mate? Just when things couldn’t get more complicated, naturally they do as one human female discovers the world of the supernaturals and finds herself in a boatload of trouble! Maybe what Abby needs is an angelic intervention, heaven knows the world she thought she knew has its hellish moments!
Jennifer Lynn Reynolds, you have the gift to cross genres, take a serious and life-altering situation and make me laugh! Shifter is part paranormal, part romance, a touch naughty and a great reminder to animal lovers to adopt and drinkers to drink responsibly! A shining star from start to finish, one never knows what to expect next, there are so many twists along the way! Prepare to laugh, as Dimitri’s dialogue with himself is priceless! And Abby? I loved her from the start, every insecure, broken-hearted part of her. Great writing, great flow, great world building, great dialogue…yep, I loved it! this is one of those reads that had me smiling throughout, and to be honest, I’m not even a cat lover!

Review This was a book I just couldn’t put down – it held my attention from beginning till end and there were so many things that touched my heart with the main characters in this book. I found myself laughing, crying, feeling, cheering and so much more.
I was surprised…so surprised when I opened this up and started reading…I had apprehensions about reading this because even though I read about ghosts, horror and post-apocalyptic zombie books…it’s been awhile since I have picked up a book about shape shifters and witches…but I have to tell you that I was happily surprised with how easy it was to connect with the main characters.
Dimitri was an asshole in the beginning but with time really pulled at my heartstrings and Abby was a gem…she was real – overweight, mental/self esteem issues, abuse survivor, hermit but a loving girl!! In this book we watch her grow to love herself and then able to walk with confidence and give herself over to love with Dimitri.
Re-Cap Dimitri pisses off the wrong witch and finds himself trapped inside the body of an ugly kitten…with a little bit of his magic left – he is able to change into a Maine Coon kitten while in the local pet shelter. Abby feels a desire to get another cat and it’s love at first site with Dimitri (the cat).
Dimitri can’t read thoughts, can’t shift and has lost all of his paranormal abilities with the curse Mave(the witch) put on him. As Dimitri spends day after day with Abby he realizes that this girl is hurting inside but has the heart of an angel. It starts to anger him at the people in her past who have hurt her to make her end up like the way she is.
As Dimitri’s brothers search for him…it seems a brother has an interest in Abby which only pisses Dimitri off more and more….realizing that he is developing feelings for her. Abby starts to wonder if there is something off about her cat…and Dimitri starts to get some of his powers back…especially when he finds Abby pleasuring herself.
Well…things just get weirder and weirder in Abby’s life….witches chasing her….werewolves trying to bite her…etc.
What will happen? Will Dimitri finally break the curse? Will Abby love herself enough to trust another? So many of these questions will be answered once you read!
Shifter was an enjoyable read! The story's premise of a guy being turned into a housecat is what lured me in...I was already laughing. The book had a lot of interesting characters, and crazy/bad characters - like Mave - are always entertaining (Nothing like a hot, but psycho stalker witch, right)? I got a feel for and liked Abby, and Demitri - who made a rather cool Maine Coon, when he wasn't one big, hot human shifter - lol. As the story progressed, Abby became a stronger, more forceful person, which was a relief from the scores of TSTL 'heroines' one runs into in some paranormal stories.
The book could have used some proofreading, however. There were a lot of homonym errors; for example, bare being used in regards to having children, when bear should have been used. Also, dropped, missing words, a few typos, etc. In the book, Dimitri is over 140 years old, but goes around saying that he's 32. That's fine. What's a bit creepy is the fact that it is mentioned that he barely looks over 20...so now, it looks like Abby is robbing the cradle? Eeeew... Being a 'cat lady', there was an issue for me regarding Abby's cat Sebastian...when everyone had to leave Abby's house to escape the bad guys, no one bothered to bring along Sebastian...they just left him. A loving cat lady wouldn't have forgotten the cat!
Still - Shifter was a great story, and I see a sequel in the future!
I honestly love paranormal romance... I love that it just absorbs you into a non-reality that is so much fun.
This starts with Abby and Dimitri. Abby is an overly self conscious woman who comes from a past very abusive relationship (so her self doubt is completely understandable). Dimitri is a gorgeous shifter who ends up bedding a witch who is beyond ANGRY that he didn't fall in love with her, or even call for that matter! ;)
There's twists and turns, Mave (the sly witch) creates so much trouble for them. They fall in love anyway and it is SUCH A GOOD STORY!
There was only just a few inconsistencies that I noticed, but it didn't take away from the over all pull this book had on me! I couldn't put it down once I started! Jennifer has done such a great job, I'm an instant fan!
Regular guy has a one night stand. That comes back to bite him a month later. Or rather, curse him.
See, he ticked off a pretty powerful witch. Now he's a cat, and sent off to a shelter.
Abby is in the mood to add a second cat to her home. She goes to the shelter and finds this adorable one that happened to be dropped off that morning. If no one claims him, then Abby can keep him.
Told from both perspectives of both Dimitri and Abby, this book tells the story of a girl who doesn't see her value, and a cat who falls in love with his owner.
Witty, charming, sweet, family, friendship,... this story has everything. I couldn't put it down!
I branched out on this one, it was the first book I've read with a shifter as a character. I usually read vamp novels. What I liked about this book is the realistic characters. They had real-life flaws and weren't over the top as characters in these types of books can sometimes be. The viewpoint of Dimitri as a cat and his frustration at being a typical house cat was humorous and very different. I would read more from this author. I think the Sullivan men could have some great stories!
I'm torn about this rating. This book desperately needs an editor. There were several instances of the wrong homonym being used and the book had some structural issues. Normally, that would turn any book into a one-star rating for me. However, I did keep reading. The plot was entertaining, if a bit confusing at times. The fact that I kept reading - in spite of the issues - bumped it up another star.

Shifter is a wonderfully woven tale about a human and shifter discovering their way to love and redemption.
I finished, devoured, the book in a span of twelve hours. It's a definite page turner, alright, and not even for a second did Jennifer lose my attention nor interest in her novel. She held me captivated. Abby and Dimitri had me wrapped around their little pinkies.
All the while I was reading, I hope that there would be more follow up novels. There are lots of characters in this book that I'd be happy to read about such as Devan or the mysterious Darius. And I want to know more about the life Dimitri and Abby have after they got married, I want to know more about their pups!
What I liked best about this novel is that it easily flowed. Being inside Dimitri and Abby's head was so easy and natural. The reading experience was absolutely smooth and enjoyable, wherein Jennifer Reynolds did a good job with. The characters are lovable, some of them pissed me off (namely: Devan and Mark), they are adorable (the P.O.D's and Carrie) and the villains, they made me want to stake them.
I really do hope that Reynolds will write more about the supernatural world she established in this book, that would be seriously awesome!
I have always had a soft spot for paranormal and supernatural novels: I like me some were stories, succubi, shifter and vampire, not so much with the latter though. I have always liked warm blooded than the vampires, especially how the shifters or weres mate.
The idea of turning Dimitri, a shifter with a base form as a wolf, into a cute and adorable Maine Coon is hilarious. It made me crack for a number of times and not to mention the 'awe' noises because of how adorable kitty Dimitri is. And he is so so freaking adorable, I like being in his head. His thought amused me. Abby on the other hand has her ups and downs. I understand her self-deprecating nature. Being in an abusive relationship will do that to anyone. I admire her, because even though her self-confidence was seriously damaged, she was still able to come up with a way to lift herself up. I know she started losing weight because of Devan but it's a start and she knows it. For me, her character is strong but it still gave Dimitri a reason to protect her. It's a perfect balance. There are times though, that her stubbornness rubbed off at me as well, especially when all I want is for them just to get it on! Haha, sorry, can't blame me, they have been skirting around that big elephant in the room for three fourths of the novel! Understandable though, because the first quarter of the novel, Dimitri is in a cat form but it's terribly adorable seeing him twist himself from the attraction he felt for her.
And don't get me started how hot the sex scenes are! I, myself, had never been very good at writing it, but I especially admired how Reynolds wrote it. It's not written in a way that it will make you cringe. It's passionate and intimate, in all sense. I have read quite a few novels who wrote sex scenes for the sake of writing it and having a steamy scene. The steamy scenes in this novel all came naturally and it didn't look awkward at all! I loved it.
I only have one qualm about this book though, and that is the tone of voice. There are two POVs in this book, Abby and Dimitri's. Now, what I observed is that the two voices are too similar that it seems as if there's only one tone and I can't pinpoint if it is female of male most of the time. I don't have much problem with Abby's tone of voice, I know if it's her who's talking. It is Dimitri's POV whom got me confused a couple of times that I had to recheck whose chapter I was in. There's a hint of femininity in his tone of voice which could be a result of the fact that the author is female. I know that being a female author, it's quite tricky to wrote in the POV of the opposite sex. I wish Dimitri's voice is a little bit more masculine. But I loved his humor though, that is one of the best part of this book.
Another great point in this book is the references! I loved it that Reynolds mentioned one of my favorite shows and books! My favorite is the Voldemort jab.
Overall, Shifter has been a great read. I fell in love with Abby and Dimitri. It's been long since I last read a good shifter book, so thank you so much Ms. Jennifer Reynolds for giving me the chance to read your wonderful novel. I hope to read more from you!
I highly recommend this book for YA lovers who like paranormal and supernatural novels. Especially for readers like me who like big bad ass shifters or weres, this book is the perfect read! Go and buy the book and read it, then let's drool over Dimitri together!
With that all said, I give this book 5 star rating. It very much deserve that rating.

It's been a while since I've read a shifter story and after finding myself in a book funk I started this with the hope to find something missing in my TBR list of late. What I found was a really enjoyable story and one which was both highly entertaining and memorable.
The synopsis was totally accurate and whilst it made me initially unsure of what to expect (Dimitri as a cat), it worked well and the story captured me right from the beginning.
Dimitri is a shifter. One of three brothers, he is good looking and knows he can get women to fall at his feet. One such woman though is Mave the witch. After a drunken one night stand, Dimitri is rescued from her hotel room and not remembering the night at all, he is surprised when she turns up a month later professing her, unrequited, love for him. Dimitri is at loss for words and after informing her that he doesn't even remember their night together she promptly turns him into a mangy, flea-bitten cat, in punishment for rejecting her.
Abby is lonely and after years of abuse from her ex, rarely leaves her house. After suddenly getting the need to visit the animal shelter to get another cat, she comes across a young cat which she sets her sights on; Dimitri. Using the last vestiges of his magic, he's able to turn himself into a Maine Coon in the hope that he will be able to avoid being PTS or worse, neutered!
Abby immediately knows that Dimitri is the cat for her but knowing he may yet be claimed by an owner, agrees to foster him before being allowed to adopt him at a later date. Little does Abby know though that is cat is about to change her life forever.
Mave is furious that Dimitri has been re-homed and sets off in search of him. Finding him at Abby's house, she tries to convince Abby to hand him over to her as his rightful owner. Abby is suspicious though when Mave can't tell the difference between Dimitri and her other cat, Sebastian. Furious, Mave redoubles her efforts to get Dimitri back once and for all.
As expected, Dimitri's family/pack are looking for him in and around Abby's street following rumours that he been seen in the area. Devan is brother who comes looking for Dimitri but when he finds Abby he is immediately attracted to her but assuming her to be hiding his brother, he quickly loses face with Abby and once again, Abby is left hurting.
Despite the repeated visits by the police and Dimitri's family though, Abby can't understand why everyone assumes she is hiding Dimitri that is until she awakens to find him in his human form, naked in her bed.
Working together to protect Abby from Mave, Abby soon becomes heavily involved in the shifter lifestyle and so does her sister who Mave has also threatened to target.
It's not long before Abby and Dimitri accept their feelings for one another but Abby is still finding it hard to believe that anyone could love her.
The story continues with Abby and Dimitri et al trying to find a way to finally stop Mave.
This was a well thought out story and a really enjoyable concept. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and enjoyed it all. There were some editorial errors and story inaccuracies at times which were a shame but overall I really enjoyed this book.
I thought this was an interesting story with lots to get into. I do feel I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it and not listened to the audio. The author does have a wonderful imagination and the story is believable. I did have a problem with some of the curse words at the beginning and thought this was the way the whole story would be. The author does calm that down which make it a more enjoyable listen. The author gives you a story of a one nightstand where the lady isn't happy with this. Since she is a witch she turns him in to a cat and the story goes on from there with him trying to get his old self back and the lady who doesn't have a clue helps him.
As the audio takes off I found the narrator to be very good but after a while it just seemed every character whined. For me that was a little bit to much whining. If this is how the author mean for the story to be taken than the narrator did an outstanding job of the narration. I did feel she brought life to the characters. I just feel I would have liked this book better if I had read it. Which is usually the other way around. Beside the book being to whining I thought the narrator did a good job. I heard no back ground noise in the audio, there were a few times I could tell she had taken a break and restarted. But all in all not a bad audio if you can get past all the characters whine. I would like to listen to another book from this narrator to see if this is her style of the way the book was written.
As for the story it's self I didn't understand why the need for masturbation. I thought that was out of place. The rest of the story was very interesting as Dimitri found his self turned into a cat with the hope of getting nine lives. If the witch has her choice he won't get past one. This is a hard book for me to review as I look back over the story all I can hear is the whining of each character. I may try reading the book and see if that will help my review any. I thought the narration a 3, all over I am going to give it a 4 because I kind of feel the author really wanted the characters to whine. The story I will give a 4 since I thought it was interesting even though I had a few issues which I thought were either not needed or were to much. The author gives a story that most likely could pull you in if you had read it and not listened to it.
I do have to say I am sorry but this was not a win win listen for me. I can't say there were not part I didn't enjoy because there was. As an audio it isn't one I would want to listen to again. I really hate to say that but it is true. Give the book and the audio a try do not let my thoughts stop you from picking it up. We all cannot enjoy the same thing.
Abby lives alone and is a single cat owner, but today she has an overwhelming urge to adopt another cat. What she comes home with is a Maine Coon kitten who has just arrived at the shelter. The shelter allows her to foster the kitten because they are sure he is just lost and the owners will come looking for him soon. Abby is a survivor of an abusive relationship and has cut herself off from all but her sister and a few close friends. She works from home and seldom leaves the house. As a result she has gained a few extra pounds, which compounds her self-image problems.
Ms. Reynolds has made up her own rules in her urban fantasy world. Her shifters, werewolves, angels, and witches are refreshingly different from the norm. I enjoyed the differences. Shifter is told from two differing points-of-view. Of course we get Abby’s, she is very insecure but smart and her deprecating mind games with herself gets tiring. I felt that this trait of hers was way overdone. Alternately we get Dimitri’s POV. He is a shifter, a bit arrogant and a player, but he has a good heart.
The story has a slow pace as we get to know the characters and their abilities. There are several twists that keep the story entertaining and it is laced with plenty of humor. Mave, the witch who changed Dimitri into a cat, is a beautiful classical villainess, a bit insane, and not quite as smart as she thinks she is.
I did enjoy the way Dimitri eventually started to get comfortable as a cat. As he got to know Abby he was able to read her moods and understand her better. When he started warming up to Abby he showed respect by leaving the room when she was dressing and giving her privacy when she needed it. When he starts loving Abby more than he loves himself surprising things start happening. Of course this is when Mave turns things upside down.
I did feel that if some of Abby’s repetition of her own faults and mind games were eliminated the pace for the whole story would increase. I got tired of her repeatedly falling back into her own insecurities. The number of proofing errors I ran across were aggravating as well. But the over-all story was enjoyable. If you need a break from regular werewolf or shifter books, you might enjoy this one.
FYI: Plenty of swearing and cuss words. Adult sexual situations are not behind closed doors. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.**
Format/Typo Issues: I found a few more proofing errors than I like to see, mostly missing words or wrong words used. Choosing incorrectly between the homophones peace/piece and sowed/sewed are two examples.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Abby is kind of hermit. Though no one can blame her after all that she has been through. She works from home and only goes out to check her mail and run errands. One day she gets the sudden impulse to adopt another cat. Not one prone to follow impulses she is surprised to find herself at a shelter doing just that. Dimitri is a shifter and kind of a player by most standards. One night he messes with the wrong witch and ends up cursed by her. He finds himself placed outside a shelter and his powers not working the way they should. He does what he can to ensure that the shelter would not put him down until he can figure out a way out of his situation. The last thing he expects is to be adopted so quickly. Abby falls in love with the little kitten at first sight. Abby takes the kitten home and notices right away that he is different. How different she will learn in time. As Dimitri spends more and more time with Abby his feeling for her change and the more they change the more his powers return. The witch who cursed him is still after him and because Abby is helping him in ways she doesn’t even know she now wants revenge on Abby as well. Things go from bad to worse. Many things are revealed and Abby finds herself not only fighting to save herself and Dimitri but all those she holds dear. Not to mention that Abby herself is changing in ways no one expected. Dimitri has to try to convince Abby that the feelings he has for her are real. Abby has a hard time believing though because of her past experiences. Will Abby finally let Dimirti into her heart fully and give their love a chance? Will the witch get her wish and destroy both of them before they can?
I wasn't really sure what to expect with this book, I tried one similar before (different author though same kinda idea) and just couldn't get into it so I'll be honest that my expectations weren't huge. I was pleasantly surprised though cause this really was a great read. I found myself hooked from the start and not wanting to put it down for the most part. Dimitri is pretty much the typical alpha, over confident and pushy at times but its tempered with a dry humour that really helps things along. Abby I wasn't so sure of, this is really the only place the book fell down for me, there were so many mentions of 'a past' and it had such a bearing on her actions in the present but there was no real explanation as to what had happened, usually that wouldn't be such an issue but the past just kept coming up with several mentions of what she'd been through in but with no real explanation as to what for the reader. I'm not saying there should've been a full recount of all previous relationships just something to give a clearer idea of exactly why the relationship had such an impact on the character. With that in mind its safe to say that Abby was not my favourite character but honestly, the other characters were able to carry her for the most part. This one thing for me was pretty major though which is why its not a five star rating which I likely would've given otherwise. It has all the elements I look for in a good pnr and could be a great beginning to a series as there were enough stand out characters for follow on books. Overall it was a pretty good read, not your typical shifter but a definite fun twist. Will be keeping an eye out for more from this author in the future for sure.
Let me start by saying, the first thing that I was drawn to with this book was the synopsis. It was crazy enough that had me thinking it could possible be a great read. As a fan of paranormal romance, I always read with an open mind and pretty much, anything goes.
What we have is a stand alone novel involving Dimitri, a shapeshifter, who is cursed by a disgruntled witch and subsequently turned into a domestic cat. Abby, a virtual recluse with serious self esteem issues, goes to the animal shelter and decides to adopt a cat. Obviously the story is a little more in depth than that and this is a paranormal romance so I was interested to see how that element would play out.
The author has a very imaginative mind and the basis of this book is great. For me though, I felt there were parts that just didn't benefit the story, such as the fact that there were a few mentions to Sherrilyn Kenyons, Dark Hunter series and The Hunger Games, although I guess these parts were added because the author is a fan of the books.
Some of the dialogue didn't feel natural at times and I felt that some of it was in there merely to explain what was going on and for me, it affected the overall flow of the story. That being said there were also some great moments too. I loved the thoughts of Dimitri when he was in cat form. I am also pleased that this book was in no way predictable. I just wished the overall execution had been a little more thought out.
Overall I feel this book has major potential and applaud the authors creativity.
Shifter by Jennifer Reynolds is an incredibly entertaining paranormal romance and Margi Stephens voice brings the book alive as she narrates and changes her tone and voice for each character and specific dialog. It’s set in the southern U.S. I’m not a native born southerner but have spent twenty five years living in various southern states and found the language and innuendos hilarious. For that reason, it had a Sookie Stackhouse feel to it. Abby is a homebody, even works from home. She suffered a horrible, abusive past relationship and has succumbed to living a life alone. Her self-esteem is lower than the ground she walks on. She sees herself as overweight, and feels no man would ever be seriously interested in her. Daily she talks with her sister and friends, but that’s the limit to her socialization. One morning she has an overwhelming need to get her cat Sabastian a companion, only the cat she picks out isn’t a normal cat. I adored the way parts of the story through the cat’s perspective. I’ve owned many cats and often wondered what was going through their minds so found the cat’s thoughts hysterical. Dimitri is a gorgeous shifter who did a witch wrong, he pays the price. Over the course of the book, he changes and becomes a lot more humble. He was never a bad guy just not the most caring or responsible. This book was hard to put down and I found myself hungry for more when it ended.
I am giving this review on behalf of Kats Book Promotions/ Katsindiebookblog. This is such a great, yet funny read all in one. Dimitri, your typical guy that is anything but ready to settle down, finally ran into some bad luck being a little player. He ran into a witch that was pretty upset with the outcome of their night so she cast him into a cat and dropped him off at a local shelter. Abby has had her share of back luck so she has basically become a hermit to her own house, and once in awhile she will stop by the shelter/vet office to get her other cat checked out. Well something told her she was in need of another cat so she made her way there. Low and behold she finds a not so nice cat, yet she feels like it needs to come with her. As Dimitri the cat is trying everything in his power to get someone’s attention to help him, the little witch he upset and slowly tormenting his new owner. Can Dimitri fight this curse quick enough to save Abby. And what are the feelings that he is having towards Abby? Could something possibly come of them? What will Abby say once she sees that her cat is no longer a cat, but a sexy as sin man? There are some serious notes in this story but also plenty of humor to go along. It was a great read, and I look forward to something like this again by this fabulous author. Keep up the good work!
I wasn't sure where this book was going to take me at first but I am so glad I took a chance and read it! Abby according to her sister is turning into "A Crazy Cat Lady" after deciding on a whim to go to her local shelter and look at the cats. She somehow is drawn to a cat that was recently left there. Even though he hisses at her and the shelter is not sure if an owner will come forward she lets Abby take the cat home with her on a temporary basis. Un-beknownst to Abby the cat she just brought home is NO ordinary house-cat. Dimitri~ After being cursed by a witch he is subjected to not only being a house-cat, but the loss of his powers. Seeing his chance for possible escape he goes with the woman... for know anyways. It seems easy enough right?? There is adventure, mystery, magic and steaminess here all which made for an excellent read. There was a twist I did not see coming and I finished the book in no time. I found it well written with only a cpl small errors. I enjoyed the characters that Jennifer gave us in this book and would like to see more of them in possible spin-offs. The Sullivan family with their abilities and some fine looking men sure could make for some interesting tales. If you like more of a realistic- like paranormal book this is one to add to your list.
Shifter is the second novel by Jennifer Reynolds. It's a delightful paranormal romance told from the perspectives of Dimitri, a shifter, who after a drunken one night stand with a witch who he immediately forgot about the following morning and never called back, finds himself cursed into cat form and left at a shelter and of Abby, a human, who is recovering from an abusive relationship and tends to isolate herself from the outside world as she works from home. Abby finds herself impulsively adopting Dimitri from the shelter, fortunately for him, before he can be neutered or euthanized. Dimitri's clan is desperately searching for him, as well as Mave, the witch who cursed him, who is not too happy that Dimitri was rescued from the shelter by an attractive young lady. Dimitri finds himself becoming quite attached to Abby and not just because she cleans out his litter box. But first he has to get out of his cat form. This is a great paranormal romance with lots of action and humor along the way. Definitely a fun read. I look forward to watching Jennifer Reynolds' continued growth as a writer. She just keeps getting better.
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Awesome story! I really loved it! Loved the characters, even if one was a cat, lol! Of course he is not a cat by choice, Dimitri, one of the main characters gets turned into a cat when he screws up with a witch that is a bit on the crazy side. Dimitri is a shifter but because he is cursed by the crazy witch he cannot unshift out of being a cat but he did have enough power to make himself a better looking cat, one that is a pure breed and he gets adopted by Abby, then the story really begins. The story will make you laugh a lot, some very funny things happen in a story when one of the characters is a cat. I really liked Abby, she was not a weak character by any means and even if she is a bit of a hermit I truly liked her personality. I also liked Dimitri's brother Devan, I am glad the author didn't make him the love interest because I didn't wanted him for Abby. I understood when he turned a little bit of a jerk, he was looking for his brother after all and it seemed to me that the Sullivan family was a very loving family and everything he did he did it because he loved his brother. There are some steamy scenes too, very well written. HEA ending and a lot of romance too. Definitely recommend for a fun, different paranormal romance story.
Dimitri, out celebrating with his pack, picks up a witch and has a VERY enjoyable night. Pity he didn't check on her mental stability before hand!! The witch, Mave reads more into their one night stand and does not cope well with her rejection and she turns Dimitri into a cat. Leaving him as a mangy moggy at the pound, she hopes he'll be destroyed. With the tiny bit of magic left to him he turns himself into a Maine Coon cat, a pedigree, hoping to be rescued.
Abby, an emotional and physical abuse survivor, is the human who adopts him. She is pretty much a recluse and works from home. With the abuse she received from her ex, she has major trust and self esteem issues.
Dimitri resigns himself to living with Abby until he can restore some of his magic and contact his family. Slowly he finds himself falling in love with Abby. Will this love break the curse Mave put on him?
I really loved the book. I found the characters likable and lovable. Dimitri from his POV as a cat is great and I felt she really nailed Abby's fractured self esteem and lack of self worth. No spoilers but some of the scenes with Dimitri, Abby and his family are so funny. Just read like every family squabble you've ever been in. Can I have more pls?????

Dimitri Sullivan got drunk and went home with a Witch. He promised all sorts of things. Yet next day doesn't remember any of this or that she programmed her phone number in his phone. A month later she shows up on his doorstep crazy as Bat Sh**. She cursed him as a scrawny flea ridden cat and dumps him in a cage at the local Humane Society. Dimitri is a shifter and turns himself into a pure bred as to escape being put down. Abby is still recovering from a abusive relationship when she goes to the local Humane Society to adopt another cat. She has no clue as to that there is a whole nother world out there with all sorts of Paranormal. She adopts Dimitri and all sorts of weird things begin to happen to her peaceful world, including a psychotic witch. This was a fun book to read! I very much enjoyed the storyline and all the characters! I found myself laughing out loud at Dimitri having to behave as a cat and all that entails! I recommend this book as a fun read! 5 Stars Patches
I really enjoyed Shifter by Jennifer Lynn Reynolds! "Life lesson number one: Never anger a powerful witch." Isn't this the truth! Dmitri Sullivan really p*ssed off a witch and she turned him into a mangy & flea-bitten old house cat. Dimitri can't change from being a cat but, he did change himself into a Maine Coon a pedigreed cat! It is a good thing that Abby found him at the animal shelter and took him home to be a companion for Sebastion her Calico cat. Mave the witch that turned him does everything she can to get Dmitri back & away from Abby because she wants her revenge on him.
Abby is a homebody after her last relationship and doesn't like leaving her home. Abby of course finds out that Dimitri is a shifter and he and his family try to save Abby from Mave. Now I don't really want to tell you more because you need to read this book to see what all happens.
Shifter has a very good story line and I will look forward to reading more of Jennifer's books.
Abby was in an abusive relationship that left her with very low self esteem, extremely self conscious and uncomfortable in her own skin. And also with a lot of hangups when it comes to men. My question all the way through the book was, will she be able to get over it enough to believe him when he finally tells her that he loves her? A fun, but emotional story, Shifter will have you hooked until the very end... and leave you wanting more. I would say this is a must read.
The one sided conversations between Dimitri the cat and Abby are hilarious. Dimitri's feline anger and jealousy over Abby's date are entertaining to say the least. She went from zero male attention to being asked out by two men and having a cat who has the hots for her. The physical aspect of their relationship takes a while to develop (thank God, no human/kitty nooky!) but it's completely worth the wait.
After reading this story I'm left with one thought echoing through my head: Never piss off a witch, because you may end up trapped in the body of a cat.
Ms. Reynolds bring it all in this novel - you have shifters, werewolves, witches, and an angel thrown in! Dimitri picks up a witch spends the night with her and never calls again. The witch, Mave is pissed and well a little nuts and turns Dimitri into a cat. Dimitri has enough magic left to turn himself into a Maine Coon Cat - so that they don't put him down after Mave leaves him at the pound.
Abby is the human who adopts him, not knowing what he is. Abby is two years out of a very abusive relationship, works from home and hardly ever leaves. She has major mental and body issues because of this.
Dimitri grows as a cat, and finds himself falling in love with Abby. Will this love break the curse Mave put on him? Can Abby learn to love him in return and find solice in him. I really loved the book. I found the characters likable and realistic even with the paranormal involved. Dimitri as a cat is wonderfully told. I loved Abby from the first and hated Mave the entire book. Tune in to see if she gets what she deserves! I look forward to reading more by Ms. Reynolds.
This book has it all, witches, weres, and shifters! Dimitri got drunk and bedded the wrong woman. He didn't call her which really made her mad! She finds him a month later and she is beyond mad that she hasn't heard from him since the one-night stand he barely remembers. She is a powerful witch and since he is a shifter (wolf) she turns him into a little flea-bitten kitten and drops him off at the pound. He is able to use a little of his magic and turn himself into a Maine Coon cat so maybe someone will adopt him. Abby, a human, is the someone who adopts him. He falls in love with her as he grows from a kitten to a cat in her home. Abby has been damaged, she works from home and seldom leaves it. Can Dimitri turn back into a human (shifter) man for Abby? This book was a great read and I give it 5 stars. The characters are well thought out, especially the villian witch Mave, and the telling of Dimitri as a cat is awesome.
Pretty decent book! Dimitri can seem to keep it in his pants while drunk and likes to promise stuff he should not. He ends up bedding a red headed crazy witch. Who tracks him down a month later and turns him into a cat. Abby is a broken woman who has no self esteem what so ever. So when she has an urge to adopt a cat she goes to her favorite shelter and adopts A main coon. Soon His family and Mave are looking for him and turning Abby's life upside down.
Great story and kept me on my toes. Shows how a womanizer comes to love a woman but has to teach her to love herself. Love the fact that it was a shifter not a were novel. Nice change of pace. The ending was even better. I still wanted to smack her a lot. Thankfully he has patience with her. Mave was definetly crazy, a bit way over top. Great book, will be reading more from this Author!
This had to be the absolute best paranormal romance book I have EVER Read!!!! I would highly suggest it!
The Cat!!! Oh my gosh the cat has so many secrets! Will Abby ever understand what this cats secrets are? Will she ever see what is in the world around her? The Dimitri ever have the chance to tell his story?
I seriously could not put the book down. It always kept me wondering what was next. What would happen? I don't read paranormal very much but this book has me wanting to read so much more! There was so much more than romance. It has a bit of mystery as well. The emotions each character feels is felt by the reader. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!!!!
I was given this book by the author for an honest review. I love this book! It is funny, hot and gripping. The characters are very complex. Dimitri is this hot shifter that has ended up on the bad side of a psychotic and enraged witch who turns him into a cat, dumping him at an animal shelter. Abby is a woman who has been physically and mentally abused in the past. She takes him home. Crazy witch shows up trying to get the cat back. Abby meets Dimitri's brother and has a date with him. He gets the idea that she has kidnapped Dimitri and brings in the police. There are a lot of surprises in here. Witches, Angels, and shifters oh my! If you're interested in paranormal books this is a great read! I'm looking forward to more from Ms Reynolds in the future.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Shifter Dimitri gets cursed into cat form by the crazy witch he had a drunk one night stand with and gets taken to the shelter.Abby who is somewhat of a recluse after a seriously bad relationship adopts him. During Dimitri's time with Abby he starts falling for her and once Abby finds out her new kitty is more than he seems she starts falling for him as well but things in the paranormal world are never easy and there's that crazy witch to deal with who just wont let Dimitri go.This was a well written story with lots of emotion and action .I enjoyed reading this story and I can't wait to read more by this author. I would definitely recommend this book to other paranormal lovers out there .
