Camille 'Cami' Brighton has been confined to her home for a decade. Her father has kept her secluded ever since the incident no one talks about it although she remembers it vividly. While she can't tolerate crowds for long, tonight is her brother Lucas' celebration as he is promoted to Commander. She really thought her father would let her attend, but his answer is still no.
When Lucas arrives, it's not just for his celebration, he greets Cami with 2 data chips and rushes to get her to the cruiser that would take her far away. The cruiser is automated and all she has to do is tell it where she wants to go. Lucas is sending her to Station X4, once there she's to find Commander Garrett Quinn and give him the information chip, he would keep her safe until Lucas can get to her.
Instead of where she's supposed to be the cruiser lands on Beta Station 4, and she deleted rather than wiped the navigation of the cruiser. The first person she meets is Tariq a Helios. She was impressed by his size but unhappy she wasn't where she was supposed to be. Now she needed her navigation back and the person to do that is on lunch.
Her telepathy kicks in and she hears a murder, and just as she gets back to Tariq, alarms sound and he grabs her and gets her out of the docking bay with him. It's as he puts her down that he notices her scroll. That would definitely be a problem here, if anyone else notices.
They're approach by two officers Parsons and Becks, who inform Tariq the General wants to see him. They are however also very interested in Cami and Tariq informs them she's with him. They however tell him if she's a scroll they have every right to claim her. Tariq protects her and as that fight is winding down, the General arrives and dismisses his men.
In the General's office she explains about the murder she heard and informs him she is a Class A Telepath, which he doesn't believe. At least not right away.
Things get even more interesting when the General finds Camille is dead. That certainly surprises Cami, and she volunteers to do DNA testing to put things to rights. In the meantime, she is under the care and protection of Tariq.
We meet some very interesting people in this one, like Scarlett Nickandros, who claims to see the future. She proves to be a valuable friend as do many others around the Atrium.
The rocky beginning for Tariq and Cami leads to romance, Becks and Parsons are a persistent problem, and the arrival of his once best friend Sion, who's supposed to be dead, adds even more intrigue to this story of murder and missing women.
I am already reading the next book in this series, I can't stop reading them.
