A scroll with exceptional abilities, Camille Brighton lived a life of wealth and privilege until tragedy changed everything. The gifts that had once made her special are suddenly a curse to be feared, and she finds herself a captive in her own home with a world of possibilities just beyond her reach. When the demons of her past return, though, forcing her to flee to the outer rim of Alliance territory, she soon realizes freedom isn’t exactly the adventure she’d thought it would be.
Running from his own past on Helix, Tariq Navarra has spent the last nine years as a mechanical engineer on Beta Station 4. Life has proven the only person he can depend on is himself, and he’s built an impenetrable wall around his heart, wearing suspicion and distrust like a second skin. Then a slip of a woman carrying the scent of fresh rain and lavender turns his world upside down with just a smile. He’s never wanted anything or anyone more, and he’ll go to the ends of the universe to keep Cami safe. With danger lurking at every turn, he may just be forced to prove it—even if that means protecting the angel from himself.
Betrayal left them broken. Can love see them mended?
Born with a silver tongue and a pen in her hand, Kali spends her days crafting scandalous romances filled with flawed heroes and kick-ass heroines. When she's not writing, she can be found curled up in her favorite chair with a good book and a steamy cup of coffee.
Self-proclaimed introvert and supporter of the selectively social, Kali currently resides in North Texas with her insane family, including two lazy dogs and one tragically misunderstood cat.
Camille 'Cami' Brighton has been confined to her home for a decade. Her father has kept her secluded ever since the incident no one talks about it although she remembers it vividly. While she can't tolerate crowds for long, tonight is her brother Lucas' celebration as he is promoted to Commander. She really thought her father would let her attend, but his answer is still no.
When Lucas arrives, it's not just for his celebration, he greets Cami with 2 data chips and rushes to get her to the cruiser that would take her far away. The cruiser is automated and all she has to do is tell it where she wants to go. Lucas is sending her to Station X4, once there she's to find Commander Garrett Quinn and give him the information chip, he would keep her safe until Lucas can get to her.
Instead of where she's supposed to be the cruiser lands on Beta Station 4, and she deleted rather than wiped the navigation of the cruiser. The first person she meets is Tariq a Helios. She was impressed by his size but unhappy she wasn't where she was supposed to be. Now she needed her navigation back and the person to do that is on lunch.
Her telepathy kicks in and she hears a murder, and just as she gets back to Tariq, alarms sound and he grabs her and gets her out of the docking bay with him. It's as he puts her down that he notices her scroll. That would definitely be a problem here, if anyone else notices.
They're approach by two officers Parsons and Becks, who inform Tariq the General wants to see him. They are however also very interested in Cami and Tariq informs them she's with him. They however tell him if she's a scroll they have every right to claim her. Tariq protects her and as that fight is winding down, the General arrives and dismisses his men.
In the General's office she explains about the murder she heard and informs him she is a Class A Telepath, which he doesn't believe. At least not right away.
Things get even more interesting when the General finds Camille is dead. That certainly surprises Cami, and she volunteers to do DNA testing to put things to rights. In the meantime, she is under the care and protection of Tariq.
We meet some very interesting people in this one, like Scarlett Nickandros, who claims to see the future. She proves to be a valuable friend as do many others around the Atrium.
The rocky beginning for Tariq and Cami leads to romance, Becks and Parsons are a persistent problem, and the arrival of his once best friend Sion, who's supposed to be dead, adds even more intrigue to this story of murder and missing women.
I am already reading the next book in this series, I can't stop reading them.
I read this book for the first time 2 years ago I !over oxygen and now 're reading be wise a new book was added to the collection. There is so much to each book and they are all connected but with different author s they make an incredible world \ galaxy
Cami was a prisoner in a gilded cage with her father and occasional visits by her brother Lucas. Then Lucas sprung her and although she ended up in the wrong four she was free. Lots of action and deaths and mysteries to unravel.
The characters were well written, and I liked the heroine. This one had a mystery to solve and the h used her powers. Some typos and grammar errors, medium spice, vanilla alien romance. I will give the next book a chance.
The sixth book in this series is very different from the first 5! The first 5 books involved relationships between multiple partners, usually 2-3 males and 1 female although the first book involved 4 alien males and 1 earth female. This book involves 1 swoon worthy alien male and 1 earth female.
The story concept was good but just didn't take off for me. I liked the H and h, the characters were three dimensional. The story line provided some relationship development between the two principles, although it seemed that they had just met and immediately became seriously attached to each other. There was growing sexual tension and some serious sex. I assigned the story a 3.5 rating and a sexy rating of 4.
The strange thing about this series is each book is written by a different author. Normally, I steer clear of this kind of thing because I don't like how different the writing style and "voice" are from book to book and author to author. I haven't found this to be the case with "The Series". Either these authors have a hive mind reminiscent of the Borg from Star Trek or there is a great deal of communication and critique happening between the group for each book, which is wonderful.
MENDED started with a bang and moved along at a fast pace. The resolution and identity of the villain wasn't glaringly obvious throughout the story as seems to be the case with a lot of erotic romance where plot sometimes gets the back burner. I was wrong about the villain right up until the last few chapters which I really enjoyed. It's nice to be surprised when the surprise makes sense to the plot.
The romance was great. I loved the Hero. He's the kind of man you want to hug and protect but he's perfectly capable of protecting himself and anyone else. He's the right amounts of vulnerable and alpha to make a great book boyfriend.
My only complaint is the young age and innocence of the heroines in this and the previous books. I get that most of these "scrolls" are sheltered their entire lives but I think they could be sheltered and somehow world-weary. I feel like the heroines would need to be more mature to navigate the situations presented in the books. The Heroes are also much older than the heroines and that's not a plot point I enjoy.
I like the simplicity of the cover of MENDED. It's intriguing and congruent with the genre without being porn.
I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
3013: Mended by Kali Argent is the 6th installment to 3013:The Series. I liked how this book seamlessly flows with the other books in this series. This is the first book where there is no ménage, but I found I didn’t miss that. I liked Tariq and Cami so much. Ms. Argent does a great job of making me love her characters and want more from them. Cami: she is quirky, funny, and completely lovable. She is a little naïve but that is part of her charm too. She has a powerful ability that sometimes even hurts her. She can be brave and strong when needed as well. I loved her. She made me smile and cheer for her. Oh and not to mention she is from Earth and a Scroll. (That gets her into trouble from the get go) Tariq: He thinks Cami is pretty spoiled when he first meets her. He knows trouble when he sees it and Cami fits the bill to a T. He is really overly protective of her. He is from Helix but cannot shift. He is a Hybrid. I really liked his uniqueness and personality. I also loved how Cami by just being in the room with him seemed to calm him down. Over all this book more than met my expectations for the 3013 series. It has action, adventure, and lots of love. I think Ms. Argent is a great addition to the 3013 team and I hope to read many more of her stories in the future. This book is part of a series that should be read in order. Lots of things and people from the past show up so this book really is not a standalone story. I cannot wait for the next 3013 book to come out! Keep them coming.
This series is fantastic. The books are from different authors Laurie Roma and Susan Hayes plus this one by Kali Argent. I haven't read anything by this author before but her book fit right in with the others. You don't have to read them in order but sometimes a book will refer to something that happened in a previous book so it does pay to read them in order. The books are set in the future ( duh look at title) and each one has a different plot. In this one there's a murder to be solved plus other aspects going on at the same time. This book is really, really good. Yes it has really hot sex so no not for someone who just wants the love and suspense part. But definitely for someone who likes shifters, ( yep gotta shifter in it ) likes books on the future with strong women and alpha men! No I didn't get as an ARC, I'm just reviewing so that you can enjoy a really good book too!
Received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
5 out of 5 Stars
What did I like? Her father had the best of intentions, even though grief makes people do dumb things. Her brother was kind enough to get her out but his plan to do so was not a good one. I love the heroine's attitude. Glad she got the HEA without the traditional triad mating (I think that would have caused too many bad memories to surface). I love the hero's protectiveness and sensitivity.
What did I not like? The brother's plan to get her out brought up bad memories and could have re-traumatized her. Her father shouldn't have hidden her away/declared her dead, even as a way to keep her safe.
Recommendation: Loving this series. Can't wait for more.
We have a new author joining the writing team of this series and she did not disappoint. I've read multi-author series before and not all of the authors did a good job with the world they were crafting, in my opinion. I was a little nervous to see how this author's story would fit in with what the other two have done and I thought this was great. So we have three authors so far, but yet it feels like I'm reading just one. And I like that. I feel like each author really gets this universe but can still tell "their" story and they just all flow seamlessly together.
I just have fallen in love with this series. It is great! I just like the ménage parts in the previous books. However, this book is still hot and a great story. I just want more and more from this series.
I have decided to reread the series because of the several new additions to the series I wanted to re-experience the 3013 world. I am so glad I did I get to revisit all my favorite characters and I am so in love with this series.
The emotions that are drawn from the characters are amazing as the situations that brought them to become engaged in each other's lives as a result of circumstances surrounding Kami. You're absolutely going to love this fantastic series!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. I Highly suggest that you have this entire amazing series!!!!
And it keeps getting better! Loved Argent's new voice! Her characters were awesome, and I see future stories for a few characters that I am eager to read about. I love how seamlessly she got into the world, building off stories already written. It really feels like the world is complete and true. Well done ladies! Looking forward to more!
I love this book. couldn't put it down. even though she has always been a victim she became a hero. Was Learning how to use her gifts and he was so strong for her. believe in her from the beginning. love this looks e story.
"Glancing down at her feet, Cami realized she didn’t have any proper shoes. She couldn’t go gallivanting through space in her favorite purple slippers."
Stopped reading right here. Will never finish. DNF 0.05%
The plot device was weak and not very complex but the characters romance and their back story was compelling enough to keep me reading. The secondary characters though shallowly drawn were nice snippets.
Excellent. What a wonderful story I loved it so much I couldn`t put it down. Well written and a terrific read. A wonderful new instalment of the 3013 series. If you enjoy reading Futuristic sci-fi romance then you will love it.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Love Kali's addition to the series. I want more featuring Lucas, Commander Cane, Scarlett, Ivy, and a few others. I'm hooked on this series.
I loved this book the interaction between cami and Tariq was spot on , I fell in love with both of them it was brilliant and The story the action world building was very very good I gave it 4 brilliant stars
Yet another fun, interesting and sexy book in this series. Absolutely loved Tariq and Cami herself grew into a strong female character by the end of the story too. There is not much to be disappointed with in this series and I will definitely keep reading it.
It was good and had a good story line. I liked that she finally started to act a little brave. Would like to know if her brother would get with Scarlett. Would recommend this book to other.
I've been getting distracted by other books lately and forgot I had this one waiting on my tbr list. It's not a reflection on the book just me being indecisive
This was not my normal fair (sci-fi) but I truly enjoyed this story of Tariq and Cami. Two souls collide in a engineering hangar, and they don't let go once they do.
