"Plucked from the ether and cast into the maw of the maze. Your soma consumed time and again, all for the salvation of your exiled god. Will you obey or curse them for eternity?"
The art is amazing but it’s trying too hard. The story and its presentation is needlessly convoluted, closer to vermis II in nature. The world of mock soul is interesting but it was just not a fun read. This book also suffers from the Vermis II text issue where there are some passages that are just exceedingly difficult to read (though this is also a binding issue as well, a problem all hollow press books have).
Ultimately Vermis I set the bar way too high for any of its peers (including Vermis’s author) to ever overcome. While Hollow Press should mine this new-ish genre for all its worth, it’s turning out to be better in theory than practicality.
Another entry in the up and coming genre of fake lore guides of non existent games. This one is up there the Original Vermis, the art is fantastic and the vibes are solid!
You start the book as a worm, sent on a mission from your master to obtain his long sought time. Time will only tell the horrors within the maze! Does a worm have free will or is it always bound to the will of its creator?
Soulslike Undertale's Bizarre Adventure??? Idk how to put it better but it's indeed one unique loregamebook Defs enjoyed it more than, say, Vermis II, but less than Godhusk. The opinion is biased tho
